I Did not plan on starting a new book collection this week… but here we are 📚
I grabbed this Chinese edition of The First Frost (Parts 1 & 2) on Amazon Vine simply because the covers were gorgeous. The algorithm clearly knows I love books and interesting things from other countries and cultures.
After looking them up, I realized they’re connected to a newly popular series in China… and one of the related books is getting an official English release in August.
So now I had to order the remainder of this series in Chinese and the English version on preorder.
📚 Here’s to starting a book collection with a fun story behind it.
Even though I can’t read the language these books are written in, I can still appreciate the quality and presentation. These editions are absolutely beautiful. The covers feature gorgeous artwork, and the illustrations inside are just as eye-catching.
The books arrived well packaged and in great condition. Each one also came with several extras like posters, stickers, and other small goodies, which was a really fun surprise and made the set feel even more special.
Even without being able to read the text, they’re wonderful to flip through and display. The overall design and artwork were clearly done with a lot of care. I’m really happy to have them, and now I’m excited to read the story when the English version releases.
I love 'Folding Moon' a lot; at first I thought it would be a lovey-dovey novel just like how the author usually writes. However, when I dived deeper into it, I realised that it really is about relationship and growth but not only focusing on the lovey-dovey but also life in general. I read this from a translated website, and I can't wait for the filming to finish. I swear, Lin Yi and Lu Yuxiao really are the top casting for this drama. I'm glad it's them together; they are really the Fu Shize and Yun Li that I've been imagining.
the bare bones of the story is decent but the execution is dull. the pacing is most irksome for example yun li pursues shize for months with no response they begin dating and within a few weeks moved in together, met the parents and broke up abruptly a little over a month?? into the relationship and theres a year and a half timeskip of their breakup. u dont really feel the intensity or wight of either their get together or breakup coz all of it happenes in such quick succession and the issue persists when they reunite coz it doesnt seem like she wanted to break up anyway but they were broken up for nearly 2 years??? i can understand shize's reasons but not yun li's. the pacing, the timeline, the central conflict that caused the breakup all of it needs more work (theres even a throwaway detail implying shize followed her to UK? but idt its even confirmed or revisited) the reunion/ breakup doesnt make sense and yun li not recognizing the person she had on her wall all throughout high school also doesnt make sense
as a die hard lu yuxiao fan whos excited for her pairing with lin yi i hope the screenwriter seriously reworks the story coz i think maintained with this kinda pacing the show will be very boring
