A deadly secret, an unexpected love that could cost everything.
Riley "Romeo" Hunt is an expert at finding those who don’t want to be found. When he's hired to catch a notorious jewel thief responsible for a brutal murder, he never expects to find a beautiful woman caught in the middle.
Jules is running for her life. After witnessing her grandfather’s murder during a heist gone wrong, she’s left with nothing but the haunting memory of his death—and the killer's vow to silence her, too. She has no choice but to flee, leaving behind everything she’s ever known.
As Riley and Jules cross paths in a desperate race to uncover the truth behind the murder, the lines between ally and enemy blur. With danger closing in, sparks fly between them—igniting a forbidden attraction neither one of them anticipated.
Riley promised himself he would never fall in love. But with every heartbeat, his resolve begins to crumble, and the feelings he carries for Jules grow stronger.
But love is a double-edged sword, especially when it’s wielded by enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy them both. In a world of lies and deceit, Riley and Jules must Is love worth the risk?
Jessica is an Army veteran who lives in Texas with the love of her life and their three children.
After spending nearly a decade writing spicy paranormal and fantasy romance as a USA Today bestselling author, she felt the desire to do something completely different.
She will still tell heartbreakingly beautiful stories with strong women and protective men, but this time they will also feature the joy of faith, and the importance of following God in whatever journey He sets you on.
Riley Hunt knows loss, and he knows how to find what’s missing. But nothing prepares him for Jules … a woman marked by grief, running for her life, and still somehow standing. When her path crosses his, danger surrounds them, but so does grace. The story feels alive with breathless urgency and quiet, strong faith simultaneously.
Romeo is a story of rescue, redemption, and what happens when the Word of God becomes the light in the darkest places.
When Jules says, “I know I wasn’t alone. The flames moved,” that single line holds the depth of this story. The God who split seas moves fire, rescues souls, makes a way through what should have destroyed us.
Jessica Ashley writes with conviction and compassion. Her suspense keeps your heart racing, but the authentic Christian faith content keeps your spirit steady and your focus clear.
I love how real it all feels: the fear, the pain, the beauty of trusting God to meet you right where you are.
Riley’s strength, Jules’s courage, the ache between them … it all unfolds like worship in motion. They fall, they fight, they rise, and somewhere in the heat of everything, grace walks powerfully with them.
Riley is for every reader who loves Christian romantic suspense that carries both danger and devotion… and for anyone who needs to remember that when the fire closes in, God’s sovereignty and power can part the flames.
I received a digital ARC of this book from the author. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on superb writing and story’s excellent content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
I have loved Jessica Ashley's books ever since I read the first Coastal Hope series book. They are suspenseful with just the right amount of romance and always contain a strong faith element.
But this one! Romeo.. book 3 in the Hunt Brothers Search & Rescue series... wow! I don't even know where to begin. This story grabbed me and held on tight. I hated to see it end. I want to hear from Riley and Jules.. need to know how they are doing!
Riley Hunt is hired to find a missing troubled heiress who is suspected of killing her grandfather. What he finds is a woman who captures his attention and does not fit the description he's been given. Her story of what happened doesn't match what he's been told and after an attempt on her life, Riley feels certain there is much more going on than he realized. There are so many layers and twists in this story.
And it touches on some really awful things that sadly exist in our world.. Abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, mental).. rape..addiction.. suicide.. betrayal.. and grief. None of this is presented in a graphic manner, but it isn't sugar coated. I don't know how you could read this one and not be affected emotionally. But that emotional response plays a big role in this story... at least for me. I felt so connected to Riley and Jules. I wanted to comfort and protect them. To help them find healing and wholeness.
But please know that while all of this is necessary for the story, there are plenty of moments of tenderness and healing. Watching Riley and Jules work through everything together is beautiful. Faith plays a big role in this book, which I greatly appreciate.
I listened to the audiobook, which is so well done! 2 POVs with 2 separate narrators. I feel certain I will be listening to this one again and reading it as well.
This was a fast-paced story with suspense, non-stop action, and gripping, tense moments. The author tackles hard topics in Romeo, including addiction, grooming, abduction, and assault. Jules' backstory is heartbreaking and filled with pain and hurts. A former alcoholic, she believes the lies that were told by her, and she struggles with not being good enough. Romeo had well-written characters, the story drew me straight in from the start, and the plot kept me engaged. Riley and Jules were meant for each other as they challenged each other. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Trigger warnings: substance abuse, SA, grooming, abduction.
Want a Christian version of Romeo & Juliet but with a happy ending? This is the one.
Some of us have a past and we want to forget it, sometimes we also try so hard to avoid repeating it. Jules' story will have a deep place in my heart. From feeling like a failure and constantly being blamed to finding strength, faith, and love and realizing that she matters.
This book is a reminder that whenever we feel alone and a disappointment, we are NOT. God, our Father, will never leave His children even after making the same mistakes over and over again. So, if you struggle with that, pick this book up. If you seek, He will be there to guide you and lead you.
Riley, oh Riley. Sorry Bradyn (eldest Hunt brother) but Riley is now my number one. This man not only has long eyelashes and is romantic, but also loves to read, cook, and paint your TOES?! I want one for me too... *sobs*
Jules character development was fantastic. From not trusting ANYONE to opening her heart to Riley and to the Lord. Riley? He was always there for her too - protecting her from anyone and anything.
Plot? Amazing. Writing? Splendid Characters? Beautifully made
The Epilogue? I. LOVED. IT.
Favorite quotes: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you." "the devil attacks what God wants to use"
*thank you for the arc! Hard to put down!
--------------SPOILERS -------------------
* I feel like we could've gotten more information about Micah AND maybe there could've been a reunion at the end? Maybe we'll see them at their wedding?
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is a Christian romantic suspense book and part of the Hunt Brothers Search & Rescue series. The main characters are Riley and Jules. Jules witnesses are grandfather get murdered now the man is after her. Riley gets hired to find Jules as she is suspected of murder because of her past. Can she prove to Riley she is innocent? Can Riley keep Jules safe as they try to find who killed her grandfather? Will Jules come to realize just because she has done horrible things in her past it doesn’t mean she is unworthy of Gods love? My heart truly broke for Jules and all she went through in her life. I love how Riley not only protected her but was there for her when she needed it the most. I loved how Riley helped Jules realize just because she did things in the past it doesn’t mean she is still that same person. I was shocked to find out who was behind everything and all of the details. So far I can’t tell who my favorite Hunt brother is but Riley had me swooning. I do believe each book gets better. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Overall, this book was wonderful and full of suspense.
This book is really good and I really enjoyed getting to read it. I highly recommend "Romeo" to you all and I know you are going to love reading it....I sure did. Read it and let us know what you think.
If you are looking for fast action and a good clean book you have found it in "Romeo". This is a book about a murder, criminals, being betrayed, heartache, danger, pain and the Lord brought them through it all. In the beginning of the book Jules Landers is witness to her grandfather, that had a big part in raising her, being murdered during a jewelry heist gone wrong. Riley "Romeo" Hunt is an expert at finding people who do not want to be found and this is who has been hired to bring Jules in for justice. But we find out that things are not always what they seem to be and that Jules is running for her life and now the killer of her grandfather is hunting her. So Jules and Romeo team up to solve the mystery of why her grandfather was killed and who did it.
Romeo shares his testimony with Jules and tells her who bring him through all of the tough places he has been in. We serve such a kind and loving God. Jules is at the point where she does not trust anyone now and Riley slowly breaks thru her walls. Slowly they draw closer and closer and finally they have to decide is this a love that is worth the risk?
Romeo is the third book in the Hunt Brothers Search and Rescue series, and it's my favorite book Jessica has written. I love the previous books in this series, and yet again, Romeo has topped them.
Jules has survived a very hard past, and despite this, she is still struggling to thrive. Determined and headstrong, and after she meets Riley and Romeo, that increases tenfold.
I was hoping for more emphasis on the robbery. However, Romeo focuses more on Jules' story and the ripples her grandfather's death creates.
There are so many good quotes, but my favorite is “Every one of my scars is a lesson learned. A reminder that I need God. And sometimes, when I’m struggling with things I’ve done or seen, I come out here and let myself remember what it felt like to be innocent.”
The faith plotline is exceptional, as survivors who have walked through fire and not burned, and with that comes a deeper wrestle.
I would highly recommend reading Romeo if you enjoy high instensity Christian romantic suspense novels with working dogs and adventure, then you'll love Romeo.
I received a complimentary copy from the author, but I wasn't required to leave a review. This does not impact my thoughts or opinions on this novel.
There is intense drama right from the start that keeps you turning pages! Riley is a great guy, a hero type that wants justice and protection for all those wronged. Jules is running for her life from people who were supposed to take care of her. She will trust no one now….but Riley breaks through her walls. He and Jules get off on the wrong foot, but the danger that follows her quickly binds them together. They both weren’t looking for, and didn’t want, love, but God had a purpose in bringing them together. Their romance is quick, but certain. A great HEA!
You will find betrayal, pain, heartache, death, danger, bad guys, true family, brotherhood, friends, love, and salvation in God. Great read. I can’t wait until the next in the series is available.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
“I know I wasn’t alone. In that fire. The flames moved. Which I know sounds crazy, but they were in front of the door, then when I got to my feet after getting free, there was a clear path between them. A place for me to walk without getting burned. I should be dead.” She’s not wrong. Her clothes were saturated with alcohol. There is no logical explanation for why she walked away without so much as a burn. Even I ended up with some minor burns on my arms. But Jules? There wasn’t a single red spot on her. The doctor couldn’t figure out how, but I know that God can do anything. Nothing compares to the power of blind faith. Which is what Jules had as she’d taken step after step through those flames.
A Testament to how God’s works in all things for his glory.
The Hunt Series has had the best storylines and characters that I have read in awhile. I hate that I read them so fast and have to wait for the next one! This series started with Bravo and I love that we “met” the family in that book and so far each have given more details into all of them. I enjoyed getting to know Riley in this one. He definitely has tracking skills! This book has it all - a little humor tossed in here and there, but it’s the mystery and suspense that’s got you trying to figure it all out, the faith that Riley shows is enough for Jules to start looking at her past in a different way, maybe she’s not so damaged for God. The scriptures and prayers are woven through out the book and it’s done in a realistic way. The sweet romance is a bonus! Definitely a book you will want to read and to be honest, it will be one I will definitely read more than once.

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! Jessica Ashley has done it again ... From the first page, I was drawn in and couldn't put Romeo down. Riley and Jules were faced with difficulty with pinning down the culprit(s), and finding answers about the past that haunted her -- at first. She knew that blame belonged to someone, but there was more to the story than she recognized. Faced with evil, loss, fear and feelings she didn't understand -- Jules did what she thought was right. As the Hunt brothers helped her, she followed her heart. The Hunt brothers showed her love, trust, mercy and God's blessings provided the pathway to the future before her. As she found the pathway to faith that Riley showed her, God's love and protection he also showed her His peace.
I am really loving this series. With the spiritual message and the suspense as well it's the best of everything.
When Jules's grandfather is murdered and she barely escapes, her brother Odie hires Riley and his brothers to find her.
Both Jules and Riley are adamant that so not want relationships but they have the chemistry and the spark. But it's the friction and snark that is fun and puts the attraction at the forefront in the story.
I loved the addition of Romeo who is like a character himself and the Hunt brothers who each fulfil a role. But that spark is bright despite all the trouble that come their way.
Beautifully written with amazing characters I've grown to love. The plot was exciting and kept me inbox from start to finish. So good!!
A deadly secret. A forbidden love. A faith that changes everything.
Riley “Romeo” Hunt is used to finding those who don’t want to be found. But when his latest job—tracking down a jewel thief tied to a brutal murder—leads him straight to Jules, everything changes. Jules is on the run, haunted by her grandfather’s murder and the killer’s vow to silence her. What follows is a heart-pounding story of danger, trust, and a romance neither of them expected.
Jessica Ashley is an auto-read author for me. Her stories always strike the perfect balance: suspense that keeps you on edge, romance that makes your heart race, and faith that anchors it all. The message here hit so deeply: we are never too far gone for God. No matter how lost, broken, or unworthy we may feel, His love is constant and redemptive.
This story was gripping, emotional, and faith-affirming. Riley and Jules’ journey reminded me that God always calls us home—and His grace is bigger than anything in our past.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved Jules and Riley’s story. So much heartbreak and healing. Jules had her childhood ripped away from her and stopped believing she was worthy of being saved. Her Grandfather never gave up on her so after she loses him, she feels completely alone in the world. Enter Riley. Riley starts out with his own misperceptions about Jules, but figures out fairly quickly that she needs someone in her corner. It’s a rough road, but they both start healing each other and it’s beautiful to read! Absolutely love this installation in the series – love this family and their faith and dedication to each other.
This author just keeps getting better and better with each book she writes. This book was awesome...and I am not exaggerating. It had an amazing plot, and Riley and Jules were awesome main characters. And the plot....Ashley outdid herself on the plot. And the suspense, which was non stop.
I like it when a Christian author isn't afraid to put Christian content in their books, and this one was packed with truths that I needed. I liked the how grounded Riley was in his faith, and enjoyed the faith journey of Jules, who had gone through so much.
The book had a great conclusion worthy of such an awesome story.
What a wonderful book! I love everything Jessica writes and this may be her best yet! I LOVED Riley(Romeo). He's bookish and the protectiveness he comes to feel for Jules made me swoon! The danger of this one is top notch and I devoured this story. The spiritual thread of the story was so good too. It has a wonderful message of God never leaving us. Jessica is now an absolute favorite for me when it comes to Christian Fiction suspense.
I received an ARC from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I loved this book! Jules story had me in tears. This is such a wonderful story of realizing our worth through God. We all have people in our lives that feel unworthy, maybe you are that person even. No matter how much you tell them their worth and how loved and valuable they are most of the time they will not believe it. It isn’t until God speaks to their heart and they realize how much He loves them that their thoughts change. No matter who you are God loves you and he created you for a purpose! This book really highlights that message!
Resourceful victim tracked by killer and a man skilled in rescue and recovery meet under dangerous circumstances. With God’s help they find the courage to forgive themselves their own fears and past failures . Will that be enough to overcome the evil that pursues them? Are they strong enough together to choose a path that will bring them happiness?
I am devouring this series, I'm so in love with it! Jules deserved so much better, luckily she found a much better life after being found by the Hunt family. But before her happily ever after she had to endure so much more pain and trauma! The scene where Riley found Jules had me cracking up. Their banter was the absolute greatest! This story is full of heartache, suspense, and faith! Loved this one! I can't stop binging this series!
Oh, my!!!! What a rush!!!! From start to finish Jessica Ashley kept me on the edge. WOW!!!! Love the way she keeps GOD front and center This is an amazing series, can't wait for Tango to be released Thank you Jessica Ashley, GOD Bless you 💜
These books somehow keep getting better and better!!! I’m obsessed!!! I loved Jules’ and Riley’s story. There was darkness, but the author did a great job of bringing Christ’s light into it.
Mix of the Shakespeare play maybe a little prodigal son and pride and prejudice. Got a little unrealistic feeling for me and away from the gospel message that was so strong in pervious books. Cute story though
I have read this whole series and they are all wonderful books. Rich characters and storylines without the profanity and explicit sex. If you love the military/ex-military genre, you'll love this series.
I’m new to Jessica Ashley but I am really enjoying this Hunt Brothers Search and Rescue series. Romeo continues the series with an action packed story.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
Loved it! Jules is a smart heroine, with a boatload of pain and shame from her past holding her back. Riley is just the person to lead her to the Lord and help her heal.
Loved this book, loved especially Riley and Romeo. I always enjoy the dislike to falling in love troupe. Lots of twists and turns, and the unexpected "back-ground" story.
I loved this one! It was a unique story and I enjoyed that it didn't take place solely on the ranch. Riley was a great MC and I enjoyed that it wasn't love at first sight.
