Virginia Landry was the outcast on the Louisiana bayou, scolded for her untraditional behavior in the 1930's. When she meets the new preacher's daughter, Lillie Baker, they develop an unlikely friendship. There's a plague of sadness and despair that envelopes the town. Love and heartbreak follow them as Virginia and Lillie grow from girls to young women. Murder and rumors hang over them. Can the two young women hold onto their relationship as judgment and betrayal try to tear them apart?
Savannah never stop writing, both your books have been amazing . Your characters feel like real people , your stories have purpose that touches the soul . Both your books left me feeling changed in some way as a person like the stories will live within me forever . I highly recommend this book and your first to anyone who wants to have their heart strings pulled upon .
Amazing! I love how it touched on subjects that were “taboo,” for the time. It was gut wrenching and funny, and felt so real. I could hear their accents when the spoke and feel the scenery around me. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author.
