In the fifteenth book in the series, the peace of the Aurous base is shattered. Years of planning come together when Steven and Charlie become targets for assassination. Stranded tourists and a murder put a serious strain on the authorities, with investigators from the human, Modloch and federal authorities. Takes a while

The concept of "The Establishment" is nothing new and in this story, someone does something about it, but so many storylines interfere with this main thread, that it takes forever to get there and then it's done in a chapter
One of my biggest gripes about the series is it's more about Charlie than Steven, however this time round Steven does feature a lot more and the story feels more balanced as a result
The Emperor still sticks his oar on occasion and for once actually seems to have others interests at heart, not just his own
It's a good story, keeps the whole series moving along nicely, looking forward to the next

Not the best of the series. Perhaps this book is transitional. Still, I like the characters and was glad to visit them again.
