Because I saved my first kiss for my best friend, Axel Stevens. And he gave his away to someone else like it meant nothing.
I was hoping that reinventing myself over the summer would make him finally see me. But I’m just as invisible as ever. Doomed to never being kissed.
Until a masked stranger pulls me into a dark closet and steals the kiss I’d been saving so long for someone else. Instead of pushing him off of me, I pull him closer. I’ve never felt so desired in my life. But then he walks away without even telling me his name.
And then he starts texting me, promising to steal all my firsts.
Is my kiss thief Axel? Is it someone else I know? Or is it a complete stranger?
The only hint I have is that he’s a member of the football team. But I’m going to do whatever it takes to unmask my kiss thief.
Ivy Smoak is the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Amazon #1 bestselling author of The Hunted Series. Her books have sold over 4 million copies worldwide.
When she's not writing, you can find Ivy binge watching too many TV shows, taking long walks, playing outside, and generally refusing to act like an adult. She lives with her husband in Delaware.
Scarlett & the Kiss Thief had me laughing out loud as we navigate the awkward high school experience alongside Scarlett Hunter and her two love interests: Jacob Miller and Axel Stevens.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the next installment and find out who was in the dark room!

I absolutely recommend this book! It was great to see James and Penny older and parents of teenagers. My favorite part was James being an overprotective dad. I loved seeing James in the classroom again and it's amazing that 13 years later James still has young girls drooling over him. Scarlett was very relatable for girls with unrequited crushes and strict parents. It was absolutely hilarious. I loved reading about all of the hunted series, empire high, and the society characters. Ive definitely missed all of them and loved having an update on all of their lives. I know it was supposed to be a fun book, but my heart still broke for Scarlett and I can't wait to read more and see her find love.
Omg! I can't wait for book 2! I love seeing the kids all grown up. Scarlett is definitely me as a teen. I was awkward 😅. This made me laugh so much. Sophie is definitely one of my favorite people. Ivy ugh this was a tease! But I love it!
Ivy Smoak has done it again, weaving a novella that you can't put down until you've finished. Scarlett's story had me laughing as her as Sophie, her brothers, and her two potential love interests embarked on crazy adventures. I can't wait for the next novella to find out who stole Scarlett's first kiss (I have my theories of course. We'll see if I'm correct).
Omg. Lol!!!! First off I want to start with Scarlett definitely reminds me of ASH!!!! A little too innocent and clueless. LOL Sophie is amazing. She's alot more tamer than Chastity thats for sure but the little Easter eggs I noticed definitely make me compare these two to two other characters. Aside from that I really enjoyed this quick little novella. I'm still hoping for a full book for Scarlett, fingers crossed. Ivy is THE Queen of Cliffhangers. Who runs into a random room and not turn the lights on before you take one step in.? Ay yi yi. Lol these girls. It was fun and the title fits perfectly ! I laughed alot. I even cried a wee bit for Sweet Jacob. I really feel alot for his character!!!! It is confirmed. Jacob Miller. It breaks my heart and I don't like Scarlett being wishy washy. Jacob doesn't deserve that. It was killing me softly. Him driving his "truck" 😭😭😭 it's alot. I love love love that we're seeing all this and he's not forgotten. ❤️🩹 I love this novella. I want more. I can't wait for this generation of books!!! Sorry if my review is a bit pushy or spoiler-ish. There's alot to be known still. Like crazy Siblings who are so cool and unbothered. Love them all. I love it. I love being apart of the street team🎉🎉🎉

The beginning of this book was previously released as a novella, Scarlett and the Kiss Thief. This is now a full length novel.
OMG this book was brilliant. It started with the Scarlet novella then carried on and I was hooked, read the whole book in one go without stopping. I absolutely loved Sophie, she is so funny and everything you’d need in a best friend/wing woman. Scarlet is easily relatable with how she is and how she feels about the boys which makes the book even more enjoyable. Everyone also needs a good Hunter Hunter mess around minus holes though 😂 I cannot wait for book 2. Once again, another brilliant book by Ivy, you will not be disappointed.
"We've got this. It's a classic Hunter Hunter mess around,"
Finally we're getting the Empire High/Hunted Series next generation! Scarlett reminds me so much of Penny it's unreal. And you can absolutely tell that Sophie and RJ are Rob's kids 😂. Stepping back into this world, with these characters, always feels like coming home. This is a great novella 💕
Scarlett has found herself in a love triangle! And while most of this is filled with teenage angst, which, I remember that feeling, the kiss? The stolen kiss? Oh that was hot. At this point I'm not sure if I'm team Jacob or team Axel. We'll see how it all plays out. But I liked the story so far.
Who is the kiss thief? Will it be football star and protector Axel or sweet and charming Jacob? Maybe it’s someone else completely. Scarlett is determined to find out. With the help of her best friend, Sophie, things at Empire High are about to get wild with cousin crushing, burner phones, bakers dozen, ice cream date, janitors closet, locker room spies, single girl rules, dark closets, exploding tents, cannonballs, secret lairs, rope knots, pudding pranks, tag, cupcakes that taste like ice cream and so much more. Some favorite Empire High and Hunted series characters pop up in this book along with a glimpse into all the younger siblings. In true Ivy fashion, she gives us a cliffhanger that makes me dying for book two to see what Scarlett does next!
Novella review: I loved this novella so much! For those that have read the first Scarlett novella, this picks up right after. (The first 5 chapters are the original novella) All Scarlett wants is her best friend, Axel, to notice her so she changes some things. Now, not only does he notice her but he suddenly becomes very protective. Could this mean he likes her or is he just trying to be like her dad? Add in her other guy best friend, Jacob, who notices her in the way she wishes Axel would. Sophie is all for crazy plans. Liam and RJ don’t disappoint with a classic Hunter Hunter plan and chaos may ensue including falling through a hole, a fight in boxers, a stolen kiss, and snakes?! This novella may not be long but it is jam packed with excitement and laughs. It even has some small but fun Empire High hints. I can’t wait to see what Scarlett does next!
This book was so fun but this cliffhanger ending has me all fired up! I absolutely CANNOT wait for book 2!
Scarlett has finally reached senior year. Her and her cousin Sophie have vowed to have the best year ever and came up with a plan to get Axel and Scar together finally. Axel has been a close family friend along with Jacob for forever. Scar has also dreamed of her and Axel dating for that long.
Axel and Jacob are both cuties and they play football. Jacob took notice of Scar's new look immediately. A shorter skirt, contacts, and heels until her dad showed up as a teacher and grounded her for those heels. What a senior year it's going to be with Scar's dad lurking around school. To make it even more complicated both Sophie and Scar's little brothers are freshmen.
Operation get Axel is failing miserably. He hates that she stopped wearing glasses, her skirt is too short according to him, and he forbids her to flirt with anyone even though he has made zero effort to initiate anything with her. Scar is starting to see how cute and nice Jacob actually is and wonders if maybe there is something more there.
Just when Scar thinks she has a plan, the kissing bandit strikes. He pulls her into a dark room and gives her the most splendid first kiss. One problem though, she doesn't know who it was. Now he's texting her from a burner phone and won't say his identity. Sophie and Scar get to work with their detective skills. They are on to something but the bandit strikes again and makes Scar even more confused.
Scar and Sophie are absolutely hilarious. Sophie is also determined to make Mr Halifax fall for her. She really believes she has a shot with a teacher.
These girls are the modern day Lucy & Ethel and this book will have you giggling all the way through. It will make you think of high school and bring up those first love feelings, and it delivers on entertainment.
So I had mixed feelings with the teaser. I didn’t like the crazy vibes but I loved this short story. Maybe I would love it not being split into 2 books but seeing the kids growing up and the way they are similar to their parents is SO GOOD!! The Hunter world Ivy has created is full of deep and rich characters that are just memorable and fantastic!
Scarlett has loved Axel since they were very young, but he keeps her in the friend zone. Sophie has a plan to get Axel to notice her. But, Jacob is very attentive to her and Scarlett is beginning to notice him and thinks he could be more than a friend. As only Ivy can do, she keeps us wondering.
This is finally being released as a full novel and the first in three books. I absolutely loved this!! Ugh I hate the ending though because all I want is the second book!! I am glad the next two books are ready so those come out soonish!!
I loved reading the first few chapters a year ago, and I was so excited to have more of this story! I love reading about Empire High, and I cannot get enough of Scarlett, Sophie, Liam, RJ, Axel and Jacob!! I was secretly hoping for more spoilers about Jacob for Empire High, but sadly didn’t find any! I am so sad this ended so quickly, and I cannot wait for more of Scarlett’s story!
Thank you Ryan and Ivy for my early copy in exchange for a honest review!!
Professor Hunter is one of my favorite book husbands so when I found out his daughter’s story was coming? Yes, please! I need. I want. Ohh, how I eagerly anticipated having that baby in my hands. Of course, my girl Ivy Smoak did not disappoint! Five chapters was simply not enough! I bounced between greedily devouring this story and stopping to savor because I knew all too soon I’d be coming to the end. Ivy Smoak knows how to hook me in to where I don’t want to put the book down and leaves me hopelessly craving more when it’s over.
I hate cliffhangers. It's pretty sad that I have started checking the last chapter for a cliffhanger before I start reading for certain authors. I'm sick of duets, trilogies, and series that go on and on and must be read in order only to end in a cliffhanger. I'm done. If you are a good author surely you can make a living writing standalones and standalone series' and don't need to release one story chopped in two or three small books. Sorry but I can't recommend this book.
My Initial Thoughts I just couldn’t wait to be immersed back into Empire High and the fact that all my loved characters where also around but with the next generation, and I was not disappointed. I loved the children all grown up straight away and the fact the main bulk of the story was in Empire High with all the easter eggs of The Hunted series. I quickly got drawn in and loved Scarlett so much but Sophie never failed to make me laugh. I also LOVE LOVE the new cover, it points towards Scarlett’s personality such as the red panda!
Plot The plot is just the most adorable The Kissing Booth had to be one of my favourite chapters, I laughed so hard! The plot perfectly blends the older generation with the newer and I absolutely loved that. The writing is perfect and draws you into Scarlett’s whirlwind and how being a senior with James as a father, has it perks and flaws! I loved Liam and oh my goodness RJ, his just a mini Rob isn’t he! I was howling with laughter at everything he does, oh and Mr Nigel and Tanner, they totally are the ultimate team of making you laugh out loud… “baby doll”
Characters If you hadn’t already guessed, I kind of love the characters in this series. I loved the fact that Scarlett was more quiet and like her mum but then Liam was the total opposite! Sophie and RJ are definitely Rob’s children but I absolutely LOVED that. All the characters mixed together make the perfect next generation. Then you have Axel and Jacob that are both different in their own rights, Jacob is this friend that’s always there no matter what – Friends to lovers trope !? – then Axel HA the over protective alpha male of the group who hates the fact that anyone might go near Scarlett!
Recommend If you already have read the Hunted Series and Empire High you HAVE to start this series, it’s the next step you didn’t know you needed.
Favourite Quotes “To everyone who loved The Hunted Series and Empire High series. I hope you’re ready for the next generation. Let the new rollercoaster begin.” The dedication alone was enough to sell the new series to me! “All the dreams I had about us being together were just that… dreams. Fairytales I’d been telling myself since I was two. But you couldn’t force someone to be your Prince Charming.” “I take back the nerd thing. We know your kiss thief isn’t a nerd. Unless it’s like a sexy nerd situation. And by that I mean a hot guy in glasses.”
Favourite Chapter/s My favourite chapters were 8, 15, 20 and 26.
Summed up in one sentence The perfect step to the next generation of Empire High students.
Overall Wrap up I loved everything about this, the next generation held up to all my expectations and I enjoyed it. The mention Penny dropped for The Hunted Series, the older characters being there. I just loved it!!! This is exactly what I expect when I read Ivy’s writing, which is ultimately why she’s one of my auto-read, auto buy authors!

Ahh! This was everything. I had all the butterflys reading this! I love Jacob but I also love Axel like how can Scarlett pick, it's not fair. It's literally like Professor Hunter and Tyler all over again 🤣. Its killing me. I need more of this story, that kiss was hella hot but Ivy u love doing what you do best to us, dont you!! Lol. Ahh I need the next book, Ivy. I'm literally craving it at this point! Sophie is so funny! And RJ is a mini Rob with the blueprints, this brought back so many memories to EH and had me cracking up, especially with it relating to a floor and ceiling 💀🤣. Scarlett reminds me so much of Penny and I love it. I'm going to be re-reading Temptation for the 10th time at this rate. Also we get our Professor James Hunter in this story which was just perfect. This made me super happy🥵😍. When the words were said "Jacob Miller" my eyes instantly teared up, just seeing that name choked me up 🥺. Another amazing book Ivy, you're the gift that keeps on giving - never stop please!
Okay, Ivy, I immediately need MORE. I literally love getting to see everyone's kids go through that weird high school phase in their life and I love the world you've built. In saying that, I adored this novella. It had me cracking up because the characters are just SO FUNNY! I mean, you have two of Rob's offspring in here so of course it's going to be two times as hilarious. But, just the situations you come up with for them to navigate through are so unique and so funny.
Also, if you've read a lot of other Ivy books, she puts so many little Easter eggs in her stories. I unexpectedly sobbed twice when Scarlett mentioned Jacob's truck and his dancing with his mother every night. We get a nod to Isabella the Troll. We also get a nod to the relationship of the Hunter/Caldwells growing up, too.
Overall, this novella was great and I'm dying for more. I loved the glimpse of this that we got in that anthology and I love it even more now. This is a definite recommend from me!
Such a good read! I loved being able to step back into the halls of Empire High with the next generation! I can't wait for the next book!
After reading Empire High, the Society, and part of the Professor Hunter series it's fun to see the way these couples have become families and how everyone has grown and evolved. I can see how the kids have similar personalities as their parents (i.e Sophie and Rob... iykyk) and how characters from the other books have stayed the same.
I love the mystery aspect of the book. Ivy has done a phenomenal job of expanding the world she created. I have some theories and questions that I'm hoping will be answered or expanded upon in future books.
This is definitely a book that I could have devoured in a single day if I had the time. Now I want to reread the original series plus Single Girl Rules because I have a sneaking suspicion that they somehow might be connected.
Pager-Turner This book gave me all the feels. I’m not disappointed at all by this second generation book. I loved seeing how this generation mirrored their own parents yet their individual personalities were extremely lovable. Scarlett is a girl after her own heart. True romantic. I loved that for her. I loved that she stood on her values. Sophia was super funny just like her dad. I was excited to see how Liam owned his character. Jacob, oh my sweet Jacob will forever hold a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to see where book 2 will take us. I would recommend this book to anyone who believes in true love. I gave this book 5 stars because Ivy never disappoints and stays true to her writing. That ending though….
I absolutely love that we are getting to see the next generation Hunter kids and how they’ve grown up.
I absolutely adore Scarlett; she’s going through that fun awkward stage in high school trying to find her footing and figure herself out (something I’m sure most of us can remember going through). She’s just so freaking relatable and I love it!
This book was over too quickly, I read the last page, flipped to the next and flipped back because I was just sure it wasn’t over! Such a great story and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Scarlett has had a long time crush on Axel and is bound and determined to finally get herself out of the friendzone during their senior year of high school. However, she catches the eye of someone else and now she's struggling with who she wants to give her first kiss to.
This novella was such a fun and quick read. It was great to see the kids grown up and to see a little more of James and Penny Hunter. I loved the craziness and antics of Sophie, Jacob, Liam, and RJ and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
Scarlett has never been kissed until she was. But by who? She has been grounded for a week because of the way she was dressed and caught by her Professor dad. Well, her friends are going to a party and will do anything to help her get there without being caught. Wait til you see how they do that. Let’s just say RJ is hilarious, Sophie will try anything on and Liam is there to help his sister also. This story is definitely a page turner. I started laughing finding out what kind of party they were at. I think Scarlett was a bit shocked at the turn of events the party took. I’m ready for book two to find out what’s gonna happen next.
Ivy absolutely slayed this novella! I started it and couldn’t put it down!!! Scarlett and Sophie are hilarious. They balance each other out. Scar is the more reasonable one. While Sophie is the one who is about living in the moment. They had me rolling with laughter.
Scarlett and the Kiss Thief is a short but cute novella. It really will hold your attention until the end. Every girl can relate to Scarlett when they were in high school. She’s got her sights set in her friend and he has no clue….. but does he? I’m totally team Axel with a side of Team Jacob. I can’t chose who I love more.
It ends in a cliffhanger and oh how I was screaming… I need book 2!
Of course I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it! Scarlett is adorable, she is beautiful and just doesn’t know it. She has been in love with her best friend since early childhood and has watched him date other girls since 6th grade. It’s their senior year of high school and she is ready to be noticed. After pining after the same boy her entire life and thinking he would be her first kiss, it is stolen by a kiss thief! The story tells the tale of her and cousin Sophie trying to figure out who the kiss thief is. The story is cute, comical, and the tale of first love. Can you guess who the kiss thief is? I was totally team Axel but Jacob is so sweet!
The OG Empire High kids grew up and had kids of their own. Seeing James and Penny as the parents of teenagers is seriously amazing.
Now that Scarlett, Sophie, Axel, Jacob, Liam, and RJ are in high school (and seemingly untouchable), they have their own drama to deal with in this novella.
Scarlett is 17 now and has been pining after Axel for as long as she could remember… and her best friend and cousin Sophie is completely prepared to make it happen. Things are going awkwardly until a spicy run in with a kiss thief. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
