How to handle a grumpy vet?…

Ryde
I've been crushing on my boss, Linus, for years now. So when my best friend, Dario, starts working at the clinic for six months, I know he can help me. He's way better with guys than I am. I'm excited. Things with Linus might finally progress.

Dario
I'm an idiot for thinking moving to Scuttlebutt would help me get over my feelings for my bestie. All it does is amplify them even more. As if things weren’t messy enough, I catch feelings for my new boss, Linus. Oh boy. If I'm not careful, I could lose my best friend and my job.

Linus
Ryde is my best mate's son and my employee. Dario is his best friend and also my employee. They're very different, yet I'm attracted to both of them. But I'm a closed-off grump, used to being alone. I've never been able to open up to one guy—how on earth am I supposed to make it work with two?

Ryde, Dario & Linus
I can't recall a previous MMM from Casey Cox that I've read, so this story was a fun surprise. I've loved all of his Vet Shop Boys, both US & Down Under, and I especially loved his take on this fun throuple.

Ryde & Dario are best friends from vet school, and Dario has been in love with Ryde for the entire time they've been friends. Half the reason he's coming to Scuttlebutt is to help the man he loves capture the attention of the man that Ryde has feelings for. Linus is their boss and the owner of their veterinary office in Scuttlebutt.

Ryde is all over the place. He's awkward, silly, and practically loses his mind every time he tries to interact with Linus. Dario sees this and knows his very outgoing nature could help, even if it devastates him. When the duo begin spending time with Linus in a less professional manner, their dynamic quickly shifts. But this also gets Ryde to open up his own eyes to the possibilities of feelings for his best friend as well. Linus realizes equally that while he hid his early feelings for Ryde while they've worked together, having opened the floodgates to those feelings also showed him his own possibilities with Dario as well.

The three men are initially very steamy with one another, and going off their simple attractions. But as they spend more time together, inside and outside of their jobs, they each realize the potential for their future.

The story overall is fairly low-angst. There's some emotional trauma and stress from different family elements, but since the guys have each other, those situations are conquered easily.

I loved The Grumpy Vet and the continued stories of these boys Down Under. I especially love the way the previous MCs are utilized and encountered regularly. There are two particular instances (at least) where the possibility of a relationship between the three men and then it becoming more serious, are compared to different ways Wilby (book 1 MC) eats his food. 😂 There's a lot that happens in these stories, but I'm never short on the laughter and fun I get out of the experience.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Ryde has been quietly pining for his boss, Linus, for years. When his charming best friend Dario joins the clinic staff, Ryde hopes Dario can help him finally win Linus’s heart. But Dario’s plan to escape his own feelings for Ryde backfires—especially when he starts falling for Linus too. Linus, the emotionally guarded vet, finds himself caught between two men who couldn’t be more different. Ryde is sweet and steady; Dario is bold and magnetic. Both stir something in him he’s never allowed himself to feel. Now Linus must decide whether he can open up—not just to one, but to both—and risk everything for a love that’s anything but conventional.

I loved this story of tangled hearts, found family, and the courage to love outside the lines. I liked the way that Linus was able to go against his upbringing and process his feelings and emotions. I loved this series and so was sad to realise that this was the last book in the series. Easy to read and understand. This was an MMM story with mature content.

If you didn't think it was possible for the Very Shop Boys to get any steamier you're in for a brilliant, super-steamy surprise. This instalment, 'The Grumpy Vet' brings Ryde, Dario and Linus together, Linus being the grump of the three, at least for a short time!

The practice is Linus' now. His father is in a hospice, his Alzheimer's worsening and he has mixed feelings which are explored, sensitively, through the story, never bringing it down, just. making sure the reader understands and sees how Linus deals with the grief of the process despite never having a good relationship with his father. Having Ryde and Dario as well as his best friend, Ryde's father Oakley, is ultimately what helps the most.

Ryde has been working in the vetinary practice for two years now and he has been crushing on Linus for the whole time. Darius is coming to live with Ryde for six months and also work at the practice, they desperately need vets. Darius and Ryde met nine years previously on Ryde's first day in the practice Darius worked at. They have been best friends ever since and Darius is hoping staying with Ryde will not only help him get over his recent unpleasant break up but also finally close the door on his crush on his bestie. Only one of those happens but one of two is great when the outcomes of both intentions are so incredibly positive!

Darius is not only in town for six months to help at the practice, Ryde also wants his help with Linus, he's too shy to make any approach and hopes Darius will be his wingman. He agrees, he is and he helps. What neither of them expect, what Linus doesn't expect is the outcome. Ryde is going to help Darius with workouts, be his PT. Darius is offered the use of Linus' home gym and the pair take up the offer. To Linus' surprise he finds this incredibly attractive, a true turn on and from there begins a relationship none of them saw coming. Sides of them emerge that they never knew they had and as everything develops they begin to understand so much more about themselves and one another.

With everything else going on in their lives and the potential complications of this throuple it gets a little tense but there is no break up, no tear jerking moments, simply three men who love one another and want to find a way to make it work, to make sure friends, family and colleagues understand and they are able to live the life they want. Tears may come at some of the incredibly touching moments, there is laughter and a whole lot of steam too. The supporting characters, including the roosters, are a brilliant addition. I can't recommend this one, this series, highly enough!

This is the second book I have read in the series and it was an entertaining one start to finish. We have a triangle that forms in the vet office —Ryde has crushed on Linus for two years (secretly, he thinks, but everyone in the vet office knows); Linus has been attracted to Ryde but holds off because he’s best friends with Ryde’s dad, and his boss at work; and Dario comes in as Ryde’s wingman, to find out if Linus is interested in Ryde, while Dario has been in love with Ryde since they met in vet school, and Dario and Linus find they are interested in each other, too. Got that straight, now?

Anyway, it’s complicated, enhanced by Linus’s grumpiness and keeping to himself, Ryde losing it around Linus when he gets drunk or gets tongue-tied in stressful situations, and Dario is the master planner whose plans work sometimes, sometimes not. The three get together through workout sessions at Linus’s garage gym, things escalate with Dario’s plan to Ryder to “just say yes”, and things snowball from there.

There are steamy times, serious times, and funny times as the three get to know each other, and encourage each other to more and more creative interactions, growing feelings on the way. Outside concerns do crop up but the majority of the book is the relationship developing between the three, the things they learn about each other, and the things they believe they know but that can actually cause problems in the threesome because of reading signs wrong. All three do persevere, they acknowledge their throuple to those important in their lives, and are on the way to their HEA.

We have very engaging characters, side characters from former books to move things along, some very spicy times, and three men figuring out what they feel, for whom, and what to do about it if they want it to be real. I enjoyed the book a lot, found myself smiling more often than not, and I gave a satisfied sigh at the end, happy with where it was going. This was a fun read with memorable characters and an enjoyable storyline.

I received an advance copy of the book and this is my voluntary review.

This is the third book in the Vet Shop Boys Down Under series and it does not disappoint. This time the story if about Ryde, Dario and Linus. Ryde and Dario went to vet school together and are best friends. As well, Dario has been in love with Ryde from the beginning of their friendship. Ryde is in the town of Scuttlebutt and working for Linus. Linus owns the veterinary office where Ryde works. Ryde is head over tea kettle infatuated with Linus. Every time he tries to interact in a personal way, Ryde becomes awkward and embarrassed. Luckily for Ryde, his best friend is coming to work there as well. Dario is charming and outgoing. He is going to help Ryde, capture the heart of the man he adores. Dario is willing to break his own heart and try to help Ryde get what he truly wants. Thankfully, when all three start to spend time together it finally begins to open up other possibilities. This is their story. This is a low angst and steamy read. The book is well written and easy to read. I liked how their attraction grew into something long term and real. I enjoyed how they supported each other and focused on the future. As with all this author's books, there was a lot of laughter written into the story. Another great read.

Three For More Fun

Owner of a veterinary clinic in remote Scuttlebutt, Australia, Linus works hard while chronically short-staffed. For two years he’s been ignoring Ryde, a younger vet in the clinic, who also happens to be the son of Linus’s best mate. When Ryde brings his friend, Dario, to work for the clinic for six months, Linus realizes that he’s attracted to Dario – and to Ryde. Unbeknownst to Ryde, Dario has been carrying a torch for Ryde for years.

Linus gives the younger vets permission to use his workout set up at his home, then joins them. In close quarters things heat up, and the three begin a sexual affair. Dario helps Ryde overcome his shyness by telling him to follow the first rule of improv – “yes, and” – to keep things going. They hit a major obstacle when Ryde’s father comes to visit his best mate – Linus. Over time, though, Linus opens up to Ryde and Dario about the difficulties in his life – and to his other colleagues in the clinic about their threesome relationship.

Cox says this finishes the Vet Shop Boys Down Under series, which has delivered good stories in an exotic place and great HEAs.

Ryde, Dario, and Linus are three very different men who, while working together, come to find themselves falling in love with each other.
Dario has secretly been in love with his best friend Ryde for many years but wants to get over it.
Ryde has secretly been in love with Linus, his boss at the vet clinic for two years, and wants Dario's help seeing if there could be a connection.
Linus has been too busy trying to run his understaffed vet clinic to think about dating, but he has noticed Ryde. The tricky thing is, Ryde is about fourteen years younger, and he's the son of Linus's best friend.
Once Dario arrives to help out at the clinic, a change soon begins to happen for all three men. The change starts slowly, time working out together turns into many steamy encounters. These encounters begin changing how they each feel about one another. Talking becomes essential as their emotions become as entangled as the sheets. They do have minor pauses, but the communication and solid connection between all three seems almost seemless, with each man bringing something different into the relationship that resonates with the other two, and leads them all to a sweet and well deserved HEA.

I received an ARC through Booksprout, this is my honest opinion.

There was wayyy too much telling and not enough showing in this book.
First of all this book is advertised as boss/employy and father’s best friend romance and yet neither really factor in ina significant way. There really is almost no evidence of Linus being BEST friends with Ryde’s dad. They seem like friendly aquaintances rather than best friends. Also the tension and angst that’s usually in that type of romance was just mostly absent. The dad pops up randomly and then exists by the next chapter and otherwise he’s not in the book until the very end when they very awkwardly reveal their relationship to him and then… nothing happens and it wasnt a big deal at all.

Another thing that bugged me was the way that the progression of the relationship was portrayed. It was all this happened then we skip by a few weeks and in the next chapter we’re told that they are now growing closer rather then just showing us how they’re growing closer. It’s a romance, I want to se the romance happening.

And again there was almost no tension and if there was it alwasy resolved super quickly rather than letting the reader stew in some uncertainty and feel some stakes.

Review for (Vet Shop Boys Down Under-3) The Grumpy Vet by Casey Cox

Linus' life isn't boring, that's for sure. Ryde has been wanting Dario and Linus. ONE Ryde is his best friend's son, who also works for Linus. Then you have Dario, who also works for Linus. Linus loves that they are different from each other, which he needs and wants in his life. Being someone who has always been a person who is better alone. But the two men show Linus there is more to life and that they are meant for each other. It makes it easier for Ryde that he has wanted his boss, Linus, because he finds out that he is drawn to not only him but also his friend Dario. Dario has just moved back to Scuttlebutt to start to live his life, which includes Ryde and his boss and love interest, Linus. Will the three of them get what they want? Each other?

I was drawn into this story from the very first page. I wanted to know how it was going to end and if all three end up with each other. I need to read the first ones now.

Super cute
I’ve got to say, I found this book super cute we are back with the Vets and this time it’s Linus who is about to get his men. Ryde has worked for Linus for two years but the backstory is that his dad is Linus‘s best friend. And since moving to work at the Vets he has had the Almighty crush on Linus. But he doesn’t have the confidence to say anything so when his best friend Dario comes to cover as one of the Vets for six months they come up with a plan so that he would be Ryde’s wing man and help get his man. That one gym experience changes everything.
And that’s all I’m gonna tell you cause you need to read this book. It is super cute. I found the relationship between these 3 to be heartwarming. I think they were all looking for that one person but they didn’t find that they found that they worked better as a thrope super cute. My heart did stop the one time that Ryde’s Dad came to visit. I did have to stop myself from laughing out loud..

This series just got better and better as I read each of the 3 books in order. As Linus and Ryde were here since book 1 as employer and employee in Scuttlebutt’s Veterinary Practice, I kept hoping that Linus the older man would show a bit more interest in the moves that Ryde was making, everyone else could see it. Luckily, Ryde’s best friend from Blowend, arrives on a 6-month stint at the Practice, he wanted to get away after his boyfriend cheated and nearly stole his savings.

Dario also has a secret he’s been withholding from Ryde for years. This secret is what helps Dario decide that he will do anything to help Ryde convince Linus to give him a chance.

There are a few other ‘flies in the ointment’ but Dario is the bestest friend ever and exactly what is needed for these guys to wake up and smell the roses.

I hope and wish that there were more books in this series as I hate leaving Scuttlebutt and all those Veterinarians behind in the Outback.

Sweet and satisfying. Ryde, is in love with Linus, his Dad's best fried and his Boss. He's been in love with Linus for the past two years. Dario, is Ryde's best friend and has been in love with Ryde for years. He has come to work at the vet clinic for 6 months. Linus, owns the vet clinic, has unrealized feelings for Ryde and is struggling to keep the clinic afloat and fighting his loneliness. Dario, is the catalyst who brings these three men together. There are complications in furthering their relationships that seem insurmountable to the men, but may have workable solutions. Great story line. Fantastic guys, great flow, sensitive handling of parental illness. I too was Team Jacob because of the abs! Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

'That unfamiliar feeling twists inside me again at their thoughtfulness, at them making an effort to include me and consider what I'm going through as I navigate my way through the experience we shared.'

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved Ryde, Dario, and Linus and the way the relationship developed between them. I liked their dynamic- it was new to all of them and unexpected, but it worked somehow. A little tricky to navigate, all things considered, but I got really invested in them and their HEA. 5 stars

What did I think of this story? I found that this story was a little slow at the beginning, and again, too much inner mind thinking. I loved the found family theme and that Dario, Ryde, and Linus loved each other for who they were and no matter what their faults were. I enjoyed Dario because he was the rock of the three of them, and funny. The series was a joy to read.

Ryde & Dario & Linus

Great MMM read. Lots of hidden feelings but Eyde and Dario realize that Linus needs support and through one of Dario’s great plans, they find out they all need more than they ever imagined. Really sweet book with love and support being upfront.

A terrific ending to the series.

I’m sad that this is the end of what is one of my favourite series. Linus was the last to find his happiness and Ryker and Dario are perfect for him. I loved their story and can highly recommend it.

Casey Cox always hits the emotional center for me as a reader. Each character in Cox's books feels real. The vet clinic has been a fun setting and Scuttlebutt is a weird, fun place.
