Royalverse #1

Once Upon a Pack

Rate this book
Once upon a time?

Um, no. Because that’s how fairytales start and Ivy Addison is no princess. In fact, she’s very happy being an absolute nobody.
She doesn’t have glass slippers or a trust fund or “graces”—and she’s pretty sure she doesn't need rescuing. She also most definitely isn’t overworked as the housekeeper for a rowdy pack of royals... and she certainly has no feelings for any of them.

Well, aside from Asher, the Crown Prince and star of all her mortifying dreams. Or Sebastian, the oh-so-charming baron who always has a smile just for her. And Dair, the dangerous duke with all sorts of bad ideas in his eyes.
Turns out, there’s a reason she can’t stay away. But when these famously eligible men find out their maid is their mate…

Can the royal alphas convince Ivy they’ll be her happily ever after?

I really wanted to like this. I generally love retellings but I found Ivy insufferable. I need a few more brain cells in my heroines. The guys didn't grovel. They did bare minimum an alpha does to court an omega.

Big miss.

DNF at 11%.

This is sadly a very gross start.

Our Cinderella-like heroine has three future packmates. One of them is a prince who kissed her long ago. Sounds like they used to be friends. Now, he passes her in the hallways where she is his maid and he doesn't even recognize her. Yay.

Second packmate is a duke who propositioned her. Now, I'm thankful he didn't 🍇 her, but propositioning a servant is uncool. Now he makes her pick up after his sex orgies and run to the store to get him more condoms. In the beginning of this book, we (and she) get to hear that he's having sex with three women at once.

Third guy, don't have any impressions of him yet.

I read reviews and it sounds like there wasn't adequate groveling. But, I can't stand the idea that she's going to end up with a douche-bag manwhore who doesn't know how to treat a woman with respect and another dude that can't be bothered to remember his friend.

Add to this, she allows herself to be walked all over by her family? I hate doormat heroines.

What a disappointment!

Fun idea-Cinderella in an omegaverse- but the execution was shaky. The setup was cute, but once the mates were revealed, the groveling felt half-hearted and the FMC forgave way too fast. The pack dynamics were confusing, one character’s personality flip was abrupt, and the pacing dragged in spots while rushing in others. Mostly smut with some charm, but not much depth.

It's kind of a Cinderella retelling omegaverse, but it was somehow still original in some ways. Asher is pretty dumb for not recognizing her when she was the maid, but I guess that's how Cinderella's story went too. Out of all of the retellings, I think Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast are the most overdone, but it was original for an omegaverse I guess.

I didn't mind that two of the guys were jerks to her beforehand, but I didn't think there was enough groveling after they realized she was their mate. The author pretends they are groveling by having them keep apologizing, but they really aren't. The FMC forgives them basically immediately because they are mates, and then they keep saying sorry, but she doesn't care at all because she lurrrrves them already. Anyways, it needed way more genuine groveling where they actually had to work for it. She folded immediately.

This has a cute premise, but then there is not a whole lot of plot. It's mostly just smut, but some of the smut is actually pretty good. Predictable but entertaining.

This was so freaking CUTE. Like giggle kick your feet worthy. Ugh these guys were just amazing.

Dair was my favorite. We love when a man goes from a jerk to "mine" in a single chapter. It just makes my little heart happy. He becomes a jerk for her instead of to her and that's him working on himself.

Bast was my golden retriever. He's just so sweet and happy and nice to everyone. He tried to make friends with Ivy before he even knew she was theirs and just ugh swoon. Ash was super sweet, too. He was kind of my middle of the road guy. He could be sweet, he could be a jerk, but he was always absolutely devoted to Ivy.

Ivy deserves nothing but good things in her life and honestly it's not up for debate. She's perfect, talks to and freaking names animals, and just cares about everyone and everything.

It did get a little spice heavy for me towards the end but that's probably because I was so invested in the plot itself.

Thank you to the author and Grey's Promo for the gifted arc

This was so good. Definitely one of the best Cinderella reimaginings I’ve read.
And that’s even bearing in mind that I’m not a fan of playboys. The way the characters came back from the way they treated her was just so satisfying that I really didn’t mind the off page bullshit that happened in the beginning.
Also, I loved the Prince and Me vibes of certain scenes. Like the hospital..? It was cute. And I love that movie. (Not that I know for sure that they Meant to have those vibes, but it definitely did for me.)
I’m really looking forward to the next book in this ‘series’. It looks like a Beauty and the Beast kind of deal and that’s always my fave.

Honestly? I found that this novel was way too long for how little actually happened in it. It was all very low angst with the briefest little drama that happened, which is fine, but it was just a whole lot when not much actually happened. Could definitely be condensed by half in my opinion.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the pack formed in the first place, like I feel that there should have been more information of Asher, Dair, and Bast forming a pack because from what it seen in the book they are so disjointed that it made no sense as to why they would willingly be one. Also, the completely 180° personality change of Dair was super weird, like I think there should have been more of a progression to that rather than an immediate switch.

Additionally, the steam was strange... it wasn't like a 'fade to black' but it was so vague and nondescript that it gave off that same vibe. Like sometimes I wasn't sure if they actually were or not because it was all so bare minimum.

And this last point could just be me looking too much into things, but I have been following the upcoming release of a book from another author who has been posting about realeasing their debut book for over a year now... which is an omegaverse that has 3 men, 1 is a prince, 1 nobleman, and the FMC's name is Ivy... and I very much get the vibe that this novel is copying that concept from that other author's book. This book has had bare minimum showing from the author with the arc reading being in January, while the other author I mentioned had arcs for her book back in June. It all just doesn't sit well with me ...

Ari Wright is one of my favorite Omegaverse authors! I have yet to be disappointed in any book she's written with this plot.

She has the perfect blend of things I love - the female character who isn't an annoying ball-buster, a mix of heroes who could be anything from cinnamon rolls to douchebags, and typically a little rejection thrown in to spice things up.

This wasn't my favorite of her omega books, but I have a soft spot for fairy tales and creative ways to retell them. This one was definitely a Cinderella story. Is Cinderella the most retold story of all time? Yes. Do I still read them? Yes. Do I still love them? Typically. If it's well written.

Once Upon a Pack is the first in Ms. Wright's newest Royalverse series and I can't wait to see where this goes!

I haven't read her contemporary books (yet) but as an Omegaverse author, she is top tier!

Damn was this perfect!!
_________________
I went into this book with no memory of it being a Cinderella retelling and I was pleasantly surprised. The characters felt real, the vibe was perfect, with the royals, the 'peasants' and the help, the evil family, and the surprise of a new life.

Sebastian, Bast, was the blond golden retriever I didn't know I needed. He was playful and open, and so sweet, even when he didn't know what was going on and why his alpha was acting up, he was never dismissive or rude. And when things turned surprising, he was the safety and comfort Ivy needed.
Dair, my favorite broody boy. He was the perfect tortured mmc. He was forgiven in my eyes way too soon to admit, but I'm glad Ivy wasn't too fast to forgive, and instead it brought us that PERFECT moment between them once they spoke and did... other things (lol). His backstory broke me and I loved how his relationship with the whole pack and his role changed once Ivy came into the picture.
Asher, prince nerd Ash. He was the one that would have hurt me the most if I was Ivy. His actions, though rooted in 'good intentions' were painful and misguided, but such is the life of a prince with a whole country at his back. He more than made up for it and in the end, he and his 'secret' (wink wink) were perfect.

Ivy, sweet sweet Ivy. She deserved ten times better than what her life was, and I'm so extremely thankful that she got it. I liked how she got more confident in her new life and how her relationship individually with each guy grew and changed.

Side note to add that the art, headers and little ends of chapter were precious and fitted each character perfectly. The artist did the BEST job, as well as this cover!

Also, I pray and beg that Jasmine (like come on, her name AND her position were that of a princess) is the next FMC in the royalverse!!

Thank you to The Author Agency and to Ari for the e-arc!

I read this book a few days ago, and I'm still mad. The following rant contains spoilers, though I would argue that it's difficult to spoil a fairy-tale retelling.

**Spoilers**

Once Upon a Pack is a reverse haram Cinderella retelling. At first, it was fairly cute. Ivy is clearly a bit of an airhead, but that can be explained away by how much she's working, as sleep deprivation and chronic stress are well documented to cause negative effects on mental abilities. Exactly why she's presenting so late as an omega is surprisingly ignored, even with a doctor mentioning that abuse may be happening, but none of the main characters care, as there's sex to be had. This is doubly confusing given how big of deal the prince makes about being able to make sure Ivy gets the best possible medical treatment. Wouldn't have entail trying to undo the damage she's already experienced and try to see what caused it in the first place? Clearly, I don't understand the medical powers of princely peen...

The vast majority of this book is sex, with very little plot. It's presented like the three main male characters are trying to win Ivy over, but honestly, she's got the personality of a wet piece of bread, and sex doesn't mean you love someone. Even worse, Ivy's main fears about solidifying their bond is her fear of not being a good ruler. Sex, no matter how often you try it, is not going to solve imposter syndrome or general feelings of inadequacy. It would have been nice if the prince and his pack found specific ways Ivy could help and benefit the country, but that would have taken time outside of the bedsport, so couldn't have that.

It's implied that Ivy has somewhat of an ability to communicate with animals, but literally nothing comes of this. Rather, Ivy spends lots of time exacerbating a vermin problem in the various castles she spends time as she feeds mice and rats. I actually really like mice and rats as pets, but seriously, this girl was causing an infestation, which is a very serious problem that isn't addressed at all. It would have been nice to have given Ivy something to do, or some problem to solve (At all. At any time. This book is 475ish pages and Ivy has nothing to do, other than the dudes the entire time!) and have her use her animal abilities in some fashion. Instead it's just a "quirky" habit to make Ivy seem like she has a personality.

Finally in the last hundred pages or so, the author remembers that she needs to actually have a bit of a plot or ending, so Ivy randomly returns home to her family with the most flimsy of excuses. She runs into her aunt, who randomly decides to come out like a mustache-twirling villain, telling her, "Yes, it was I! I was the one that poisoned you into thinking you were a beta! Mwahahahaha!" This makes NO SENSE whatsoever. First off, there's no reason for the aunt to poison her in the first place. Yes, Ivy was working and helping, but the aunt could have gotten that out of emotional manipulation alone. There is no reason why an omega couldn't work. Furthermore, if Ivy has come home for good, there's no reason to tell her that you poisoned her in the past, there's literally no benefit for you. Finally, why admit to a crime? It's not like Ivy returned to confront her family at all. What makes this even more frustrating, is it could have easily been presented in a different light: Ivy's aunt watched her omega sister die a horrible, prolonged death from being an omega. She could have been manipulating Ivy's designation in an attempt to protect Ivy from suffering like her mother. There was no need for a villain after 400 pages of no villainous action at all.

Anyway, the longer I read the book, the less of a plot it appeared to have and the more I hated it. Read at your own risk.

I wish authors would stop writing f*ckboys in their books and then just make everything ok. Ivy was a doormat who just accepted it all and didn’t make them grovel for how they treated her.
This is not the first DNF for this author and I definitely have her on my do not read list.

This was a cute Omegaverse x Cinderella retelling story. Ivy (a thought to be Beta) and Prince Asher were once childhood friends while her mom worked at the castle as a seamstress. Asher sadly sent Ivy away because he didn't think he would be able to find his fated Omega while she was around. Years later Ivy is now working at the castle as a maid for Asher and his pack, under a new name and identity, when she discovers she is actually an Omega and the royal pack's scent matched mate. The story was super cute and a fun take on a Cinderella retelling. Each of the guys had their own hang ups and issues, but were all able to find redemption with Ivy. There was a fun mix of tropes and the group all balanced each other well. Overall it was an easy read and enjoyable story.

I had very mixed feelings about this book! The plot had a lot of potential, and I was really drawn in by the premise, but there were a few elements that didn't quite sit right with me.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the choice to make this an Omegaverse story that didn’t involve shifters. I do get that Omegaverse can be adapted in different ways, but I kind of feel that having the characters as humans made them a bit unlikeable. The FMC started off being fairly likeable but then turned whiny and needy, particularly during her courtship of the princes. While I understand this is a typical characteristic of an omega, it wasn’t in a fun or sexy way, just a really annoying way!
I did absolutely love the princes though. Despite fitting into the typical why choose stereotypes, one is loyal golden retriever, one is the bookish nerd, and the last is the rebellious tearaway, they were all still really fun and likeable. Their chemistry with the FMC, and with each other, was fantastic and you really got to see some great character growth on their behalf, particularly after they meet Ivy.
The plot was easy to follow and enjoyable and I loved every minute of it, up until the epilogue as there was a trope added in there that I don’t really like in books (no spoilers!)
If you’re a fan of why-choose romances and are okay with a more unconventional take on the Omegaverse, you might still enjoy it, but it wasn't quite the perfect fit for me.

me 🤝 omegaverse

this book was insanely cute 🥹 read if you like fairytale retellings and alphas who mess up so badly they have to win their way back ☑️

the thing about second chance romances is they have to be done correctly with groveling and why they’re groveling in the first place, and ari wright did that!

ivy was such a sweet FMC, i loved seeing her become more confident in herself as the book went on. i can’t help but be a dair girly 🤣 in the beginning he stressed me out SO BADLY but he ended up even winning me over 🤭 asher and bast were equally as loveable, but he just stole the show for me 🙂‍↕️

thank you to greys promo and ari wright for the chance to read this as an arc, all thoughts and opinions are my own

This was a really cute omegaverse story. I really enjoy Ari’s writing style and have really liked and even loved her prior books.

I love the idea of fairytale retellings in omegaverse. This one is based on Cinderella.

Ivy is so sweet and has been let down by life for so long without fully realising it. All three guys in this book are great and have varied personalities which show up in different ways - a more brooding and serious guy (Ash), a darker and more cautious one (Dair), and a sunny and cheeky one (Bash). This makes up a nice mix and they all have a connection with Ivy in different ways.

For some reason I just didn’t quite get as much emotion or connection in this one as I have come to like in her prior books I’ve read. I’m not sure what quite didn’t hit for me but it just made it so it was a totally enjoyable read, but not really out of the ordinary for me, fell a bit flat. I almost think I would have liked it a bit longer?? I think I would have just liked maybe more interaction or background story prior the omega attraction point or perhaps a bit more real conflict. So, that’s why I’ve given it more of a 3 for an average story which I still totally enjoyed reading.

Despite the above comments, I really did have fun reading this book and getting lost in an easy to read, light, royal-and-commoner story with sweetness and of course all the heat. If you like omegaverse and fairytales, I can recommend this book!

Okay y’all! This was my first book by Ari Wright and I am absolutely kicking myself for not picking up her books sooner! I love fairytale reimaginings and this one was mixed with a why choose omegaverse that freaking delivered on the swoon & spice!

“𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘯—𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴—𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘴. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦. 𝘈𝘯𝘥—𝘰𝘩 𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘥—𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘐’𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵.”

Ivy doesn’t get off to the best relationship with the three royals she’s a maid for. They each have their own issues but the prince is the one who broke her heart many years ago. They were best friends during their childhood despite their differences in rank. She thought they would be together forever but her destroyed that dream.

Now she’s back working as a maid for him and his pack and he doesn’t even recognize her. There’s a sunshine baron that tries to befriend her but even that is surface level. Then there’s the morally grey duke that acts like he despises her very existence.

Ivy is just so tired. She’s trying to provide for her family while also pay off her mother’s medical bills. She’s been diagnosed with medical anxiety and it seems to be getting worse the more she’s around the prince’s pack. When a revelation is brought to light, the pack will do whatever it takes to redeem themselves in her eyes.

These men were absolutely swoon inducing. They brought their A-game when it came time to grovel! Everything they did was to support and care for her. Their special gifts they each gave her were seriously so dang sweet! ✨

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵?” “𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭.”

This omegaverse retelling of Cinderella is absolutely adorable and sweet, with just the right amount of spice! I adored Ivy and enjoyed seeing her bond with each MMC. They’re all unique but offer the love and protection she needs as she navigates her new reality. If you’re a fan of omegaverse, this is definitely a must add to your TBR!

Well, I was warned that there would be bits of this that were gross but a couple of good reviews got me over the line to read it.

Should have gone with my gut. I hated Cinderella even before I discovered retellings.

Yes, she's a maid. Yes, she has to clean up after there are women; and for Dair, so, so many women. That he throws in her face and even makes he go buy condoms. Then clean up the condoms.

That aside, I sometimes wonder with omegaverse if its just an excuse to write about men (or men in society in general) who lack so much insight into their emotions that they need to have an omega to bear that emotional load. To "balance them out" 🤮. And lucky omegas, they get to do that for multiple men at once. Awwww.

This omega is immature; not just sheltered but definitely immature and completely lacking a backbone. She acts like a young teen at times. Its frustrating and annoying.

The MMCs sort of redeemed themselves (a bit, well only 2 of them needed to) but I failed to connect with any of them

Except Jasmine. I really liked Jasmine.

I assume she will get her retelling but I also hated that the first time around so who knows if I will bother...

BTW, I love this author, just not this book. It is not for me

Spoilers.

Alright I have been in a severe reading slump and I read this whole book so I am taking that as a win not only for me but for this book.

Let's get into it.

This book was too long. There was not enough external plot to keep it going and the designation delay and the family weren't enough to justify the length of this one. Then let's go to the groveling. I wasn't sure Dair was really on the hook for feeling that bad for over half the book. Don't get me wrong the simp he turns into *chefs kiss* but there was no real reason. They weren't together, he didn't know they were mates, he was kind of just a run of the mill asshole. And barely even that by most books standards. As for Asher I wanted more flashbacks of them so we could have the same understanding of their connection, assuming it and not showing it as much did bring this book down for me.

Aside from that this is exactly what readers of this genre want. I guess for the length I wanted real things to be happening and I mean I will admit I am not a fan of when the main character finds out they are a different designation. One of my least favorite aspects of this genre.

⁺₊★·.´🎧✩°。 0:56 ──♡───── 3:32 ⁺₊🎧★·.·´

🎶 The playful conversation starts. Counter all your quick remarks. Like passing notes in secrecy 🎶

Ivy Addison (h) is just trying to survive her job as the housekeeper for three royal alphas. But when fate reveals she’s their fated mate, all bets are off. Now the royals are out to claim her heart—and Ivy’s about to find out that some happily ever afters come with claws, crowns, and a whole lot of chaos.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

[Asher]

“Ivy,” he repeats.

“I’m Asher.” A mild grimace cracks his handsome features. “You already knew that,” he adds, rambling. “I mean, I assume you already knew that.”

Asher assumed he could never have a chance with Ivy because she was thought to be a beta. He knew he'd eventually have to leave her for his omega, so he sent her away. For years, he kept everyone out of his room and his heart, saving that spot for Ivy, even though he knew it was probably impossible. Even when Ivy worked with a maid, he’d avoid eye contact and lash out because he hated how much she affected him, not realizing it was Ivy all along. When he finally realized the truth, he felt awful. I honestly feel for him. He had so much to prove because they had the most history, and he was the one who hurt her the most. I can’t imagine how sick he felt when he realized Ivy was actually an omega and that he pushed her away for no reason. And when she went into her heat, he wasn’t in a place to be the one to help her first. Ash had good intentions, but he got so caught up in his title and responsibilities that he lost sight of what mattered— Ivy.

[Bast]

“I’ll get you some books to read,” he adds, then stops himself. Something unspoken passes between them before he amends, “Or I’ll read them to you, if you’ll let me.”

He was the first to step up as a friend, making an effort to ask about her past and how she was doing, even when she was just a maid 💖💘💕💗—long before he knew she was his mate. They bonded over their friendship first, and it made their connection feel more genuine since they liked each other without any resentment. I love that he was the first to take care of her, always knowing what she needed. He was so sweet and gentle with her, and the way he cared for her made my heart melt.

[Dair]

“I didn’t hurt her,” I tell him. “I don’t even think I meant to scare her. My Alpha just wanted her so damn badly, and she was there, and I was fucked up.”

“She’s been skittish around me ever since,” I finish. “And I’ve been a dick every time I’ve seen her because I hated remembering that night and what I did.”

Dair was unnecessarily rude to her, but he used that as a front because he didn’t want her to know how much he cared and wanted her. By pushing her away and avoiding her, he ended up hurting her more in the process—and honestly, hurting himself, too, to the point of going into a rut. Fortunately, she got sick of his behavior and decided to go to him, using her bark to break through and get his attention. She stood on business , and I loved that she held her ground with her men. She wasn’t about to let him keep avoiding what was clearly between them.

I’m still annoyed that Dair and Asher barely did any real groveling, and yet they all got a happily ever after, like their past actions didn’t matter. It felt too easy for them, and honestly, they should’ve worked harder for it. Still, it was an enjoyable read. Somewhat.

This was a sweet and tender story, a little retelling of Cinderella with a twist. I have to say that I did enjoy the writing, it was smooth sailing through this one. Though I do have a few of this author's books on my TBR, this is the first time I have read anything by her.

The characters were well developed, the dialogues were witty and the vivid description of the setting itself really gave off that magical vibe. The only thing that did bug me a but was the FMC, I am not sure why, but I felt like she could have been more resistant to the relationship as one of the gentlemen was rather mean to her and the other had some history with her. The MMCs did apologise profusely about their shortcomings, but frankly I wanted a bit more grovel.

Overall, this was a lovely story that provides one young lady with the opportunity to discover her true calling and embrace her new life with those who are utterly devoted to her.

this is honestly the vibe of the entire book.

a modern fairytale reimagining, this book is about Ivy, who is the maid for the Prince and his pack. but what the Prince doesn’t realize is that Ivy is his teenage love he sent away bc she was a beta and he wouldn’t be able to marry her. however, Ivy’s designation ends up coming through and *surprise surprise* she’s actually an omega… and
their scent matches. now Prince Asher and his pack members, Dair and Sebastian, need to convince Ivy they want her as their Queen while groveling to makeup for how they treated her as their maid.

Ari Wright really knows how to write books that squeeze your heart for her fmcs. Ivy is a sweetheart who takes care of everyone else, even the little animals in the castle garden, so her mates are there to be the ones to take care of her. all three alphas have distinct personalities and relationships with Ivy.

what i thought was going to be OW drama actually turned out to be a good friendship for Ivy with Princess Jasmine. which i am honestly really relieved they weren’t pitted against each other.

this is a cute omegaverse and i can’t wait to read others in this universe.

⚠️Dair is the playboy of the group and before he realizes Ivy is his scentmatch, he does hook up with OW a lot. all of it is off page but it is talked about by the other mmcs hearing his group hookup

Consider this my official declaration: Ari Wright has officially cemented herself as my favourite Omegaverse writer.

This book? Sweet as honey and hotter than the devil’s taint. I’m talking panting, blushing, fanning-yourself-like-a-regency-spinster levels of heat. I needed a glass of water and a lie-down, okay?

Asher, Bast, and Dair? The holy trinity of Alpha perfection. Protective, growly, soft where it counts, and utterly obsessed in the best possible way. The pack dynamic? Chef’s kiss. Watching their relationships unfold, not just with Ivy, but with each other, was pure joy. Tender, spicy, and full of emotional goodness that made my little Omega-loving soul weep.

And Ivy? Our girl deserves the world. This Cinderella retelling brings all the fairy tale vibes, but with knots, claiming, and just the right amount of filth to balance the sweetness.

If you’re after a swoony, steamy, Omegaverse retelling that’ll leave you grinning like an unhinged fool and maybe clutching a pillow this is the one. Go forth and get feral.

Finished this a few days ago and I already have forgotten the plot, but I do remember that I enjoyed it enough that I solely read this and didn't pick anything else up.

Author: Ari Wright
Standalone?: Can be read as a standalone.

4 Stars

My Opinion: This was such a cute book, and I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a bit of a Cinderella retelling, which I didn’t know going in, but was very pleasantly surprised about. I absolutely loved the heroine, and I loved how, despite a shaky beginning, the heroes became completely devoted to her. I also want to note that I loved all the little artwork/drawings in the beginnings and the ends of chapters. It was a really nice touch. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars was because I just wasn’t a huge fan of how the book started and how two of the heroes treated the heroine in the beginning. I also didn’t get how Asher had been around her for months and didn’t recognise her at all, despite having spent several summers with her when they were younger.

Hero 1: 4/5. Asher is a prince. He was pretty quiet and serious for the most part. He and Ivy had actually met when they were teenagers and spent a few summers together because Ivy’s mother worked for the queen and brought her to work with her. However, Asher didn’t recognise Ivy when she came to work for them, so he pretty much ignored her presence. That completely changed when he realised she was his mate though and he did some really sweet things for her.
Hero 2: 5/5. Sebastian (Bast) is a lord. He was charming, flirty, playful and outgoing. He was basically a golden retriever, and I loved it. He was really sweet towards Ivy, and he had also befriended her before he knew she was their mate.
Hero 3: 4/5. Dairragh (Dair) is a duke. He slept around quite a bit before realising Ivy was his mate and he wasn’t the nicest to her in the beginning. However, once he did realise, he felt incredibly guilty and basically ended up punishing himself to try to make it up to her. I wasn’t a huge fan of him in the beginning, but he grew on me, and he became super protective of her which I loved.
Heroine: 5/5. Ivy worked as a maid in one of the royal manors. She was quite a shy person, and she had some insecurities, but she was also such a sweetheart. She had had quite a rough life, and she basically worked herself to the bone to pay off her deceased mothers medical bills and pay the rent for the place she shared with her aunt and cousins who treated her terribly. I loved her and all her quirks, and she deserved everything good in the world.

POV: 1st person POV (Ivy, Asher, Sebastian and Dairragh).

Push/Pull:

Sadness: 1/5.

Explicit Sex and Spice Level: Yes. 3/5.

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) Drama: Not really.

Separation:

Cheating: No.

Closure/Ending: HEA.

Possible Triggers:

This was super sweet. I loved the way that the heroine was able to become who she was always intended to be without changing who she was. I do wish that there was more comeuppance for her aunt and cousins, on page anyway as a final update.
