Six years ago, I asked Kaitlyn Barrett to marry me, and she said yes.
Three weeks later, I left her to set right the mess that led me to her in the first place. I promised to come back, and she promised to stay. When I came back for her, two weeks later, she was gone—the only thing left to prove that she’d even been there in the first place were the signed divorce papers she left behind. Even though I wanted to go after her with every fiber of my being, I didn’t because Kait had decided what she wanted and it wasn’t me. I signed the papers that said we weren’t married anymore and did my best to move on—and failed miserably. When I took the security job at Gilroy’s I thought the most I’d have to deal with were a few bored paparazzi trying to get a photo of me roughing up a drunk college bro, or someone recognizing me from my brief stint as a tabloid badboy. Imagine my surprise when I come face-to-face with the woman who vanished on me six years ago without a trace. When she tried to explain what she’s doing in Boston, I’ll admit I was too busy trying to get her naked to pay much attention. When I told her I didn’t care why she was here, that I wanted her to leave, she told me no. That she had friends. A life here that she wasn’t willing to walk away from. Turns out the life she was unwilling to walk away from was my life. My friends. So, since neither of us were willing to walk away, we decided to compromise. Divide the space we both occupied, cleanly down the middle— you stay on your side of the Gilroys and I’ll stay on mine. And it worked. Until it didn’t. Suddenly, the walls we’ve build between our lives come crashing down and just when it becomes obvious that avoiding her is the last thing I want to do, the life I helped Kaitlyn run away from, calls her home and the only question left is, just how far am I willing to go to keep her.
USA Today best-selling author Megyn Ward lives on coffee, chocolate and more than the occasional glass of red wine. When she's not spending time with the hot, dirty-talking Alphas and the strong, capable women who love them who live in her head, she's busy chasing chickens (and kids), hanging laundry and burning dinner. Either way, she is almost always in the company of her eight dogs, her truest and most faithful companions, and her almost as faithful husband, Joe. Megyn is also the author of the award-winning Sabrina Vaughn thriller series, written under the name Maegan Beaumont.
I do not like the male lead in this pair of books (Gilroy Clan 9&10) but the plot of this one was good enough for me to enjoy. However, while the rest of this series you felt the couples story was complete at the end, this one felt like we didn’t get the well rounded out ending that we got with the other character duets.
Oh well, I love this series, so while I wasn’t overly impressed by this one, I wasn’t disappointed either.
3.5/5 rounded up to 4 for GR. I am a sucker for dual timeline second chance romances, that simultaneous seeing their relationship grow and break in the past + grow again/realise what they lost in the current time just gets me every time.
This is definitely a story about mixed/missed signals. This series does, in general, make use of the miscommunication trope. This isn’t a story of people who have their shit together. It’s people dealing with a lot of issues, trauma, insecurities - it makes sense that they don’t communicate perfectly well and it’s right along the lines of human nature to me. But you do kind of just want to shake them and yell at them to just say what they’re thinking and feeling to each other; it would have solved a lot! But, they’re human and they didn’t. Did it irk me at times? Yeah. But it was kind of real at the same time.
I will say it’s probably not my fave pairing of all the couples/stories in the series. I think them withholding their thoughts and feelings from each other so much does make it slightly hard to connect with them as a couple, there’s a lot of sex and not a lot of communication so it doesn’t quite help. Once they finally do start really revealing things to each other, it’s much better and I felt so relieved for them. The last 25% of the book or so is really great and I wish it had maybe all unraveled a bit earlier.
I was very drawn into the drama and angst between them and for the whole group. I absolutely love the friendship/family group throughout these books and how they all are in each other’s business and they all have a true love for each other even when things are hard. It’s gritty and real. The family and friends aspect probably got to me more than Kait and Went themselves did. Especially Kait and her family situation.
It’s been a great series and this was a solid ending book!
I received an advance copy of the book and have left my honest, influence-free review
Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ .5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ POV: dual Tropes: found family, second chance, marriage of love and convenience, rich boy/poor girl, different worlds, good girl, my wife, sexual tension, tattooed giant,
I absolutely LOVED Went and Kaitlyn’s story. We got to see bits from over the years with the back and forth timelines. I would have read this all in one sitting but wanted to draw it out as I didn’t want their story to end.
I feel like this book was the most focused on the main couple with smaller cameos from the rest of the Gilroy clan. There was enough from the rest of the crew that it filled my need to see more of them but left me hoping that Megyn is going to write more for their series!
Kait and Went’s story have me completely drawn in in Went’s book and this one had me on a complete rollercoaster. Full of ups and downs and unexpected twists. Moments of shock and steamy scenes will have you not wanting to stop reading.
Keeping Kaitlyn is the conclusion to Wanting Wentworth and ties everything together. We get to see what Went means when he says that he left and came back to Kaitlyn gone, leaving behind signed divorce papers and her ring. You feel the pain that they both have went through and how Went is so angry and hurt with her leaving. It makes sense now why he was never able to date anyone after Kaitlyn, with the exception of Tess (he knew he didn’t have to worry about anything actually happening with her as she was still in love with Declan).
Without giving away too much in what happens characters from their past make appearances that do not play out at all how I was expecting.
The ending was perfect, although I felt it came fast (I’ll never complain about longer books 😉) it brought together all the loose ends and answered all the questions I had. Including some from previous books!
I hope that Abby gets a book in the future because I am DYING to know what happened while Kait was gone and what happens after the ending!!
Oh my goodness. That was hard earned. I think that the summary of the summary here is that the adages about eavesdroppers and assumptions are true. This is an example of it. Thankfully it didn't end there. If this was indeed inspired by Persuasion - fret not - you can be assured (except that it was more than just a little trouble): “My characters shall have, after a little trouble, all that they desire.” ― Jane Austen This is the conclusion to 'Wanting Wentworth' told in an alternating first person narrative and alternating past and present - which adds to the tension; teasing out what went wrong. There is tension and angst. Normally I devour a book in a sitting (or at least in a day), but this took me a little longer because it was *angsty* (I like angst, but this is of the type that I need to step away from a bit and then inevitably come right back to). And my heart bled alternatively for Wentworth and Kaitlyn. They both made mistakes, not maliciously, but from seriously damaging family history. Sigh. Plus they were young. And both under quite a bit a stress at the time that they first met (as you know if you've read the first in the duology - and you must read the first because context matters).
It doesn't say in the blurb, but there are many scenes that are quite explicit - far more so than the first in this duology - you have been warned.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
💯% recommend the book, the series and the author!! 🫶🏽🖤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶
What a friggin storyline... Loved it!!
I've read the whole of the Gilroy Clan now, all 10 books! And now it's finally come to an end. I'm going back to the beginning again because I love them that much!
The plot is full of twists and turns, showing how silly sometimes we can be, when blinded by what we think of ourselves and allowing the judgement of others to cloud our own self-worth.
If you've read the other Gilroy Clan book, you'll know who Went is... If not, he's a 6' 5" tattooed brickhouse. He's rich but wants to be just like everyone else with a passion for drawing photographic images and tattooing!
Kait is a shy, beautiful and stubborn woman who has had to battle so much in her young life already, that 'love' to her is a foreign concept in many ways. She also a nurse and was forst seen in Ryan's duet!
I love their chemistry, their dynamic. I love how he is not afraid to show her his intentions, wants and feelings. He's the type of guy we all want to be friends with (or more) and to have in your corner... The fact he has Con in his corner too certainly helps!
In this book we get a snippet of how the others are living now and where their future has taken them. Great ending to a great series.
💯% recommend the book, the series and the author!! 🫶🏽🖤
I've been a long time fan of Megyn Ward, having read all her series multiple times and from the moment I met Went and Kaitlyn I was drawn into the mystery. I'm so glad they both got their own books. My favorite part about this couple set is that it pulls us away from the usual world of the Gilroys and gives us a new setting, but also nicely wraps up other pieces of the Gilroys. Without giving spoilers, I sobbed at a certain part with Kaitlyn and Ryan because it provided a sense of closure and really showed how the entire group is so closely connected. As an artist, I love the use of Went's talents for the smutty parts of this book; it kept it fresh and added a bit of kinkiness, in my opinion. I sometimes found myself frustrated by communication issues, but I was surprised by a bit of "twist" as to the background detail of their story.
I know many are complaining that it feels a bit incomplete at the end, but I didn't mind because I know there is more story to tell. I honestly hate when writers wrap up a couple's story then toss them into later books like a poorly planned cameo. Megyn is always amazing with her dialogue, settings, and sex scenes. I appreciate that her characters are messy but genuinely good, and work to earn their love.
Wow! I knew Kait and Went’s story would pull at my heartstrings and boy was I right! This was such an emotional read, I had nervous butterflies for so much of it. Their story begins in the book, Wanting Wentworth, so if you haven’t read that one, make sure you do so before reading Keeping Kaitlyn.
The two meet in Montana where he rescues her from a bad situation. Their story is such a roller coaster, so many ups, downs and curves, just waiting for things to even out. I didn’t want this ride to end but so happy that they finally got their HEA. For some reason throughout the series, Went caught my attention and I knew his story was going to be my favorite and I was right.
I absolutely loved this grouping of characters in this series and the way Megyn writes, you can’t help but feel like you know these characters personally! I will miss Connor’s spunkiness, Ryan’s grumpiness and Went’s sweetness, not to mention all the others that I have grown to love! This series has been everything! Megyn, you are the queen and can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve next!
The timeline on this book was difficult to understand. Some chapters weren’t marked, there was quite a few typos. I wanted to get to the juicy part since the cliffhanger in book 1. It does get mildly spicy [on page description and dirty talk]. I saw mildly because I felt it was a 4 spice. Short and sweet. I didn’t like Kait’s lack of background in this book. Felt like a plot hole. Especially with the time jumps. I wanted answers. Book 1 had me ready to defend Kait til my last breath, because of her trauma… but because there was no real backstory with Kait, or proper timeline into her mind WHEN SHE LEFT, it felt weak, flimsy. An excuse to run… There could have been alot more details there, instead of matchmaker for Tess. Not to mention, I don’t forgive Wentworth for Tess. I don’t care if they were broken up. You can’t be obsessively dedicated to someone but f***ing someone else. With that being said I still enjoyed the book. I felt like it left out alot but still made me melt in the end.
It's hard to believe this is the end! (At least for now, we can always hope for more). I couldn't help but feel nervous as I read because there were so many unknowns to come and you can't help but want Went and Kait to have their happily ever after. This continues the story of Went and Kait after the end of Wanting Wentworth, which continues some of the past storyline but back to the present in Boston with the rest of the Gilroy clan. You're on the edge of your seat from the first page and you can feel the emotions felt by both characters as they try to navigate their lives without one another but it's clear that doing that would be a lost cause for one another. Full of steamy moments and some that tug at your heart, you can't help but fall in love with Went and Kait all over again along with the rest of the Gilroys. I'm gonna miss this world so much! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
If you have read this series, you would know that Went and Kaitlyn would be jaw dropping!!!
I have waited for these two and the story that belonged to only them and Megyn did not disappoint. This dual was full of so many different emotions and Megyn really makes you feel just as her characters do in her stories! I felt the pain of both characters.
Kaitlyn and Went fell in love years ago but things didn’t happen the way they intended, fast forward to now and they find themselves face-to-face again. The emotions are still there, the pain, the hurt, the love, it is all still there. Be sure to read Went’s book first, Wanting Wentworth before reading Keeping Kaitlyn as they do go together!
It is bittersweet to see the end of the Gilroy Clan, unless Megyn has something else in store for us! Either way, if you have not read all of the books in this series, you don’t want to miss out.
I have loved every book in this series and this was no exception! Whenever I read them, I'm slightly disappointed at the end of the first half of the couple's story. However, Ms. ward always makes up for it in the second half! I love the way she keeps growing the Gilroy Clan! Wentworth is now neck in neck as my favorite, who was Patrick, but I do love all the men in these books! The women are not all just trophy wives or dumb bimbos and, while they can take care of themselves, their men make sure they know they never have to! If it wasn't for the grammatical/spelling/etc errors that occasionally occurred in this book, I would have given it 5 starts. Even with the errors, I wished there was a way to give it 4.5 but there is not! Oh, and the spicy scenes, were so hot, I thought my panties would catch fire! I do hope we see more of the couples at some point and what their futures become!
SOOOOO good! This book has everything! All the angst. All the spice. I'm so sad to see the Gilroy's all happy and in love....that means the series is over. Keeping Kaitlyn is the HEA to the Wentworth/Kaitlyn duet. Just like the rest of The Gilroy Clan this is a must read... This author writes an amazing story full of real life drama and angst that leads to great make up s*xy time! Her characters are so real and flawed you can't help but fall in love with them while internally yelling at them to sit down, shut up, and talk it out. In Kait's book it was all about the WHY! WHY did you leave????? What could possibly have made you walk out that door and leave when Went made you happier than ever and you had all your heart desired??? Oh Kaitlyn! This book will leave you believing in true love and second chances. What's meant to be will find a way <3
Being the final book in the series, this one is so bittersweet. Honestly though, it was worth the wait. We've of course seen glimpses of Kaitlyn and Went. Second chances are always so iffy for me. It's never about if the second chance is well deserved. Are both parties capable of loving each other in such a good and finite way? But Megyn does so good at allowing us to see these two come together. It is such a beautiful thing.
Years after the initial problems of their past, this one is a bit harder to see the reconnection after them struggling with communication. Yet once they overcome that issue, we see a beautiful story unfold. One that has literally been years in the making. Waiting to see this happy ending was worth it for the finale. I just with we had seen better communication earlier on in this book... heck in the whole relationship!
As with all the couples in the Gilroy series, both Went and Kait have background issues of their own to work through. They both have strong feelings, but their issues cause a big miscommunication. All of the Gilroys have a way of breaking my heart, but I was most curious about Went since he first appeared. I can't say these two were my favorite couple (I think that title will always belong to Con and Henley) but I'm happy with how the mystery turned out! I'm so sad to see the Gilroys series end, but I'm sure some of the characters will cameo in future stories. Con has a way of popping up EVERYWHERE 😆! I'm so excited to see what Megyn writes next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wonderful ending to a great series. I'm sure we will see more of these characters in future books as the Gilroy's like to make appearances in other books.
I loved it! This wraps up the epic love story of Went and Kaitlyn. It goes back and forth from the past to the present. We find out why what happened the way it did. Justice is righted in so many ways. I don't want to give anything away. Like all her books that deal with the Gilroy Clan I didn't want it to end. Went is definitely another character to add to my endless favorites from Megyn. Love Tess and her wrench that make an appearance.
I received a copy through BookSprout and read it from there.
I loved this book. I didn't want to start it because I already knew that I didn't want it to end, and I was right. Wentworth and Kaitlyn have been side characters in most of the Gilroy Clan and the King's of Brighton books. Their story has been a long time coming and did not disappoint. Starting in Montana with Wanting Wentworth, watching them fall in love, then back to Boston with Keeping Kaitlyn and how despite everything they found their way back to each other. Well Done Megyn Ward, you did it again.
I had loved all of the previous Gilroy books, so I was expecting to love this one as well. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I didn’t like the back and forth between time periods-it gave me whiplash. I also hated Kaitlyn in this book-the constant need to run away and not telling Went why she left was tiresome. And it came across that Went’s love for her was only physical. He was always drawing her and always thinking about f-ing her. There was no romantic tension in this book and I the story was lacking.
Although it's sad that the Gilroys have come to a end . I'm so happy to see all of the getting the HEA.
Keeping Kaitlyn is the final book of a 10 heart series and OMG it didn't dissapoint. Went and Kaitlyn Navagate their way back to each other after losing each other for years . This book is HOT and Went is a Panty Wetting Beast I can't get enough of . Kaitlyn is such a strong character who finally learns to stand up to her past .
Keeping Kaitlyn is the tenth book in The Gilroy Clan. This is the second book in the Kaitlyn and Wentworth story, which started in Wanting Wentworth. I devoured this book as soon as I started it. The author has given us a perfectly balanced story that swirls around you until you get lost in it, in a good way that is. The characters are nicely defines and are peeled back over time, revealing themselves and their pasts.
In not crying you are. What a well timed book. If you have read the others that sentence makes sense (go read the others first) they found each other and love again. Was wrote lovely and I'm glad Tom got his ending. Connors one liners are still great. Best read ever. My heart is full and closed now. My life Chapter of the Gilmore's is over. 💖
Loved this whole series and this last book didn’t disappoint. Megan did it again! Loved it! She’s the best of the best at her craft! Loved every book she’s written and this one didn’t disappoint, she crafts stories and characters so well. I get so invested, I love her and her books! You will not be disappointed going on this ride with her.
This book is awesome, a second part to a great love story. Went & Kait love each other deeply but they’re traumatized by their past. It takes time & effort but they find the road back to be together. I love the Gilroy clan, these characters are awesome! Great storytelling!
Absolutely loved this book, just loved the whole series!! So sad it has come to an end. I feel in love with each character throught the series, tho Wentworth and Conner are my favorites! This is a must read, but I recommend reading in order!!!
This injustice has to be one of my fave Megyn stories. I loved Went and Kait it was another fabulous read with lots of much loved characters returning in the story ❤️
This book was everything I hoped it would be for Went and Kait. Honestly I'm super sad to be at end. I could read about these characters forever. If you're looking for a series, the Gilroy World is where it's at!
I absolutely loved the end of this love story. Went is the perfect book boyfriend and their love story is sweet but full of angst and emotion. *Second chance *Sexual tension *Big tatooed MMC *Gilroy Clan
She did it again!! Went and Kait’s story is so emotional. Every word has so much emotion in it. Kait and Went’s story is so bittersweet. The end of the series and my heart hurts. But the love Went has for Kait is so special. Megyn makes you feel the love yourself. At times I laughed and I cried and I gasped and I blushed… thank you Megyn Ward for the Gilroy’s. I’ve never wanted to be a part of a family so bad.
Wow! I had no idea that Went and Kaitlyn were going to go through the things they did. I didn’t see it coming. There was even a part in this book that made me tear up a bit. But I still loved every second of this book! Plus it was spicy. ❤️❤️❤️
The last in the Gilroy Clan series. I have to say I enjoyed the last two books (Kait and Went) much more than the others. I could almost have given it 5 stars, if not for the woeful amount of spelling and grammatical errors. By the 10th book a decent proofreader should have been found.
