Took me a while to finish this book, but in no way does that take away from the quality of the read. This is a phenomenal book, a compilation of exercises, interviews, reflections, and personal testaments of Abiola. The interviews served as extended confirmations and I very much so enjoyed each one. This handbook is an experience versus a mere product, and is one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Not only do you read, but you work. It's soulwork, so it's all about you. It's relevant and necessary and effectively so. By the end of the read, you'll be that much better a woman and you'll know why YOU are a Sacred Bombshell.

This book is a mix of quasi-spiritual mumbo-jumbo sprinkled with some really good advice that I'm pretty sure my therapist would heartily approve of. The lessons on mindfulness and loving yourself as a work in progress are really helpful; I was particularly struck by the analogy of a mother and her baby: a mother wants her baby to learn to walk and talk, go to school, and become an independent person, but she loves it at every stage of its life, even when it can't do those things yet. We should be the same with ourselves. Maybe we haven't accomplished our goals yet, but that doesn't mean we aren't valuable people at this very moment, and we should love ourselves fully at every stage of our own journey instead of seeing ourselves as somehow incomplete. What a great lesson!
But, this lesson and others are mixed in with a bunch of talk about gendered energies ("femergy" is one of the author's favorite terms) and trite word-play (blissipline, for example) that just really put me off. There are a lot of buzz words and phrases that are only defined in vague terms ("finding your fullness," for example, where "fullness" is never really explained) and descriptions of certain alternative practices that seemed both unnecessary and unhelpful (pouring your menstrual blood into a hole in the ground and saying your wishes out loud, for example).
Overall, despite the nuggets of good advice I found scattered throughout the book, I cannot recommend it.
