A trip to Kyoto—the land of Shino's roots! Masamichi's life was saved when Shino the specter made him a servant, but the young man is living a surprisingly happy life. Even his studies have become more interesting. But one day, Shino shows up at the prep school and announces that they are heading to Kobe. On the way there, they stop at Arima onsen and Kyoto to kick back a bit. Who will they meet there? And what disastrous destiny will be revealed?
I really love it that with this volume we learn more about Shino's past. Moreover, a character that might truly bring trouble to Shino and Masamichi appears! However, the pace just picks up in the latter half. Despite the information about Shino that it also contains, the first half feels more like the author indulging in writing about Shino and Masamichi having, ahem, interactions, that are "not totally BL", lol. And one thing that still kind of bugs me is how... innocent Masamichi is. I know he's from the inaka but he's no longer a child or a teen... but I guess there's a stereotype of characters like him in books involving male-male attraction like this.
Too expensive for the page count. But the story is entertaining as always. We also learn a bit more about the characters and their backgrounds. I would have liked it if it were about a "case" like previous books, a bit more. On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
