I picked this up from a charity shop in Hebden Bridge and it sat on my shelves for ages, picking it up to read as I fancied a change from a series of books I couldn't get more than a few chapters in of.
What a refreshing change it was, engaging from the first word til the last, funny with interesting, well rounded characters and a lovely turn of phrase. My one minor quibble is the Meredith character seemed to peter out a bit with a hint of a modern interesting conclusion that it didn't deliver for her, but other than that a thoroughly well written and enjoyable novel.
