Lilies, Lies, & Love

Rate this book
In a city filled with secrets, can love really conquer all?

After years of working myself to the bone at New York’s top architecture firm without recognition, I’m desperate for a promotion.
Being a spy is the last thing I want to do—especially in Chicago—but with my job on the line, I pack my bags for the Windy City, pretending to be on the hunt for a new position.
I’m paired with Daisy, whose role is to convince me to take the job at her firm. She’s as sweet as her name suggests… except when I critique her beloved city. She transforms in a feisty mama bear ready to defend Chicago to the ground.
Determined to win me over, Daisy takes me to her favorite spots, showcasing Chicago’s breathtaking art, iconic architecture, and indulgent specialty foods.
As the days pass, I start seeing Chicago through her eyes and start falling for her—and for the city I never wanted to call home.
But when ghosts of my past resurface, Daisy helps me navigate emotions I’ve buried for years, deepening the connection between us and making me question everything I thought I wanted.
Spring is a time for renewal and forgiveness, but can I really move on from my painful history? And if I do, will Daisy still be by my side once she learns what brought me to Chicago?

Lilies, Lies & Love is a closed door romcom with spring vibes, architecture arguments and a lot of banter, set in the beautiful city of Chicago.

It’s part of the Season of Love series, where each standalone book focuses on a different season and location. Expect immersive adventures that transport you to vibrant locations, rich with sensory details and swoony moments.

Pack your bags, book lovers! Marion is whisking us away to the Windy City in Lilies, Lies & Love, a delightful rom-com filled with secrets, sightseeing, and sizzling chemistry. If you've never been to Chicago, don't worry-our tour guide, Daisy, has everything covered. An up-and-coming architect at a prestigious firm, she knows all the best spots, from stunning museums to iconic deep-dish pizza joints. She's a true Chicagoan-passionate, fiercely loyal, and always ready to defend her city's honor.

But Daisy's latest assignment is about more than just sharing her love for Chicago. She's been tasked with convincing Asher Forbes, a prospective new hire, to join her firm as a project manager-a job she desperately wants for herself. Her boss sweetens the deal: if she can get Asher to accept, the promotion is hers.

The problem? Asher has zero intention of moving to Chicago. He's a New Yorker through and through, only in town to secretly gather intel on Daisy's firm for his boss. If he refuses, he loses his shot at a long-awaited promotion back home and ultimately his job. Both have one week to complete their missions—Daisy to make Asher fall in love with Chicago and accept the job there, and Asher to uncover Hackett Studios' architectural secrets. What could possibly go wrong?

As they embark on their city-wide adventure, their professional rivalry turns into a battle of Chicago vs. New York, complete with hilarious banter and friendly wagers. From architecture debates to food showdowns, Daisy takes it as a personal challenge to prove her city reigns supreme. Meanwhile, Asher tries to resist the undeniable charm of both Chicago and Daisy-but as the days pass, his walls begin to crumble.

What starts as a job-related ruse slowly shifts into something deeper. Asher, haunted by a past he's tried to outrun, finds himself facing old wounds. And when a long-buried pain resurfaces, he's forced to confront the life he's built and the one he truly wants. But with secrets between them, can love really conquer all?

Lilies, Lies & Love is a heartwarming, closed-door rom-com bursting with spring vibes, architectural passion, and romance. With lovable characters, witty banter, and a city that feels like its own character, this book is a love letter to both second chances and the magic of new beginnings. The power of forgiving, and letting love in. Whether you're team Chicago or team New York, one thing's for sure-you'll be rooting for Daisy and Asher until the very last page.

I was completely enchanted with all the beautiful details woven into this story. I felt as though I was walking with them touring some of Chicago’s most iconic sights, enjoying the delicious foods and atmosphere. I believe Marion has started a new trend, pillow forts for adults!😍

Thank you Marion for the advanced readers copy of your book! It was a joy to read and these are my honest opinions.

God, I adored this book, it was fantastic.
Daisy was so funny and herself. She loved her city and she wasn't afraid to show it. She had passions, and that's more than most people can say.
Asher was a sweetie who didn't stand a chance once he saw Daisy. He was divided in what to do but at the end he did the right thing and told the truth, no matter the consequences.
The flow of the book was well done and I just adore them as a couple

This book is like a love letter to Chicago! It takes place in Chicago where Daisy works and she is a wealth of knowledge especially with the history and architecture of the city and her task to welcome Asher who has been offered a job at the firm Daisy works at. I adored the banter between the two and their connection was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed their story proving you meet the right person at the right time. This was a joy to read. I received a complementary copy from the author.

Lilies, Lies & Love is the third book in the Seasons Of Love series, which can read entirely fine as a standalone, but they're all so adorable so I recommend you pick them all up! I absolutely ate this up, it was a true love letter to Chicago and it was just beautiful. I felt like I was visiting the city myself, I loved every second of it. The descriptions were vivid, the accuracy was on point. Marion has a way with crafting her stories that even in the shorter books, she always consumes me and makes me fall in love with her storyline and her characters.

Daisy is such a fun and bubbly FMC I loved her so much. Asher is a sweetheart under all his hard shell. The way they connect, discover the city together and fall in love is the absolute sweetest thing. It was just so organic, natural and never felt forced. Marion is a master of her art, creating great banter, undeniable chemistry and scorching kisses without needing to add the spice to make the connection believable. I absolutely loved them together, they were the perfect match.

Overall, I truly loved this third installment in the series. It was a one sitting read, I couldn't stop reading. It was so fun, adorable with an absolutely beautiful setting. I can't wait for Lucy's Italian adventure 😍

✨️Thank you to @mariondere for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to @marionderewrites for the #gifted e-book.

Happy publication day to this delightful romcom! Lilies, Lies, and Love was such a fun, fast-paced read that kept me entertained from start to finish.

I absolutely loved the witty banter and the way the main characters kept trying to outsmart each other. Their playful rivalry, paired with sizzling chemistry, made for such an engaging dynamic. The mix of secret identities, a Chicago backdrop, and a work-based rivalry added layers of excitement, while the slow-burn romance and protective hero brought all the swoon-worthy moments.

Throw in a family reunion, a touch of fake dating, and just the right amount of heartfelt moments, and you have the perfect sweet romcom. If you love clever characters, laugh-out-loud antics, and a romance that keeps you hooked, this one is definitely worth picking up!

PACK YOUR BAGS LADIES AND GENTS, we’re going to Chicago! I’ve been so a lot of the scenes I could actually visualize

If you know one thing about Marion, is that the research for her books is exquisite. She takes her time and her books seem so effortlessly interestingly written

One of the cutest irony in that book, is that the title has lilies and her name is Daisy AND I LOVE DAISIES and I love it

I liked the random crossover with Asher’s brother. The way he helped her and the way the brothers rekindled. How Daisy helped piece the family back together. How Asher stood up for her in front of her ex. How he declined the job so she doesn’t have to quit

All these small things and actions that seem so insignificant but are actually so meaningful is literally why I love Marion’s men. I like the good ones not the bad ones. I’m just a softy like that 💅

I am loving this series for sure. One of my favorites by an indie author💚

“Forgiveness is a choice” I love that so much. It puts life and everything you go through in a different perspective. Whether it’s just a friendship or even more. It resonates with you

Architect Asher Forbes is sent to spy on the competition in Chicago by his boss. Daisy Harden is a Chicago-based architect. She is tasked by her supervisor with persuading Asher to relocate from New York City to Chicago and accept a position with their company—the same company that Asher was supposed to spy on. I enjoyed this book's slow-burning work rivalry with a hint of fake dating. There is a lot of chemistry and banter in their relationship. This book was packed with information on Chicago. Marion De Re is known for her closed-door romances, and I have enjoyed all of her books so far.

Daisy and Asher's story was so fun to read. I loved seeing some bits and pieces of Daisy's family after getting to know them in a previous book. And to get to know Asher's family's backstory. And I loved seeing the windy city from Daisy's perspective and with how much she loved it, trying to convince Asher that he was going to love it too! It's been a long time since I was in Chicago and I was young and it was a quick passing through, spend the day and a couple nights then kept driving to the next destination. But I do remember several things from that trip. Especially the high rise hotel we stayed in. That was awesome. I've read a lot of books over the last year that are set in Chicago and between those and this one, I really want to go back and have more time to see all the sights that Daisy takes Asher too!

Poor Asher is torn between what his boss is telling him to do, his growing friendship and feelings towards Daisy and her bubbly and inviting personality, and his friendship and trust with Daisy's boss. What's a guy to do when he's caught in the middle of a tangled web? Why, fall in love with Chicago, the most adorable girl he's ever met, and make amends with his family. That's what! Is it all going to be sunshine and roses and easy? Nope! But let me tell ya, it's a delightful ride that he goes on and that us readers get to enjoy! Sit back and enjoy the ride. I know you're going to love Asher's character, even if he is a bit of a reserved grump at the beginning. You're going to love his goodness. I promise!!! And Daisy is just the perfect ray of sunshine for us all...especially Asher!!!

Content: Clean. Sweet and clean romance. I loved the theme of honesty throughout the book. Some kisses but nothing further. Some family issues but written very well.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Lilies, Lies & Love is the third book in the Seasons Of Love series, and can be read as a standalone. Daisy and Asher's story was so fun to read!

When the architect firm that Asher works for loses yet another client to the competition in Chicago, his boss sends him on a covert mission to find out what the Chicago firm is doing differently. Daisy is an architect with Hackett, the firm in Chicago, and Asher’s official tour guide to the Windy City. It is very obvious that she loves anything and everything about Chicago, especially the rich history of the architecture of the buildings. As they explore the city together, they tried to outdo the other with their city’s offerings, and start to grow closer. When Asher’s past comes back to haunt him, Daisy is there to help him through it. Will Asher go against his boss and let his heart soften to Daisy and the Windy City?

I absolutely loved all the banter and their connection was undeniable. I loved seeing the windy city from Daisy's perspective and with how she tries to convince Asher that he will love it too! The rivalry between Chicago living and New York living was so fun. The author did an amazing job describing all the details from architecture to the entertainment to the food! I felt like I was right there in the city! My favorite takeaway from this book is the quote “Forgiveness is a choice.” I love how the characters both had to learn to forgive and move forward.

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!!

Thank you to the author for the copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Marion de Ré has a nice writing style. I must admit this book felt more of a struggle to start in, comparing to her previous books. It takes a while before I got used to Asher and Daisy. The main focus of the story is the sightseeing, which makes to romance part a bit less in this book. In addition, there are some other subthemes like a family reunion which overshadow the romance. Nevertheless this book is a real nice feelgood story.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Marion De Ré for allowing me to read a copy of her upcoming book, Lilies, Lies, and Love, which is the third book of her Season of Love series and will be available on Amazon on March 7th, 2025.

Asher has worked so hard for many years at his job in New York and he’s willing to do anything for a promotion and get acknowledgement for his efforts. He agrees to be a spy and heads to Chicago. Daisy loves working at her job for a Chicagoan architectural firm and is tasked to show Asher around the city in an effort to get him to accept a position at her workplace. With historical insights and great food, Asher is starting to fall in love with the city, and perhaps maybe with Daisy, especially when she helps him navigate with feelings he had in the past. Can Asher figure out what he wants to do with his life, including whether Chicago or New York is right for him? Even more so, can Daisy forgive him for his deceit when the truth comes to light?

This book was great. You have Asher, a hardworking, ambitious, kind, and handsome young man that loves architecture and wants recognition for working hard at the firm in New York. You have Daisy, a passionate, sassy, intelligent, sweet, charming, and beautiful young woman who loves Chicago, her family, and working at the architecture firm in Chicago. It was cool learning about the different architectural facts that were provided throughout the book, and it felt like I was on my personal tour with the characters. The dilemmas that the main characters faced were understandable, and I wanted to yell at Asher’s boss and Daisy’s ex for being jerks. The interactions between the main characters were sweet, and I loved how the author discussed the complexities of relationships in a healthy and compassionate way. The food sounds amazing, and I cheered for Asher and Daisy individually and together as they grew more confident and surer about themselves throughout the book. Overall, if you like architectural history, great friend dynamics, complex characters, hot dogs/ Chicago Deep dish pizza, Chicago, discussions about grief and ethics, family reunions, awesome banter, and sweet work-rivals/secret-identities romance with low amounts of spice, then I would highly recommend this book. There were so many fun and wonderful things about this story. It was a rivalry of Chicago living versus New York living, and everything these cities have to offer from entertainment to food. The author's vivid descriptions of the architecture and history of the buildings, as well as the descriptions of the food will make you feel as if you have been transported to Chicago through the pages.

Asher Forbes is an ambitious architect who loves everything about New York, including his job. When his firm loses another client to a new firm in Chicago, Asher's boss sends him on a spy mission to try and find out what that firm is doing differently.

When Asher arrives at Hackett, Jane puts her best architect on the job of wooing Asher into coming to work for them. Asher has no intention of coming to work in Chicago, but he has to play the game to get the information. I could immediately see that although Asher was ambitious. He was not cutthroat, so this mission was not going to be easy for him.

Daisy is an architect with Hackett and his official tour guide. She loves anything and everything about Chicago. She especially loves to talk about the rich history of the architecture of the buildings in Chicago. She is the quite the expert about everything Chicago.

These two were so funny together. Instead of competing sports teams, you had competing cities, as they each tried to outdo the other one with their city's offerings. While competing with one another, they grew closer.

When Asher's past comes back to haunt him, Daisy is there to help him through it. This was a sweet and swoony romance, but it was also a history lesson and a lesson in learning to forgive and move forward. One of my favorite quotes from this story was short - "Forgiveness is a choice."

Fun, games, architecture and food are at the top of great things about this book. There was one particularly funny scene involving a pillow fort. Both characters are so lovable and both have some baggage they needed to drop off. I have no problem giving this book a well-deserved five stars and then some.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Asher has been asked to find out why a rival architecture firm keeps poaching their long-time clients, with a promise to him that he’ll get a promotion. Okay, right there, that is corporate espionage, and a federal crime. And yet, Asher is so blinded by the possibility that he will finally move up that he accepts. Now, right here is usually where I would say to myself, “This is not for me,” because I hate the whole lying to someone to get a better job thing. But this is Marion De Ré, people, and she has earned my trust when it comes to tropes like these.

Asher definitely isn’t looking for love, but he can’t help but feel a spark of something when he meets Daisy, the architect at Hackett Studios, who has been assigned to making sure he’s impressed with Chicago and wants to take the position that Jan, the head of the branch, is offering.

And due to Marion’s almost obsessive attention to detail, I learned A LOT about Chicago’s history and architecture through Asher and Daisy. I’m already a huge fan of both history and architecture, and this book has made me want to see Chicago through their eyes.

It’s so sweet, watching Asher and Daisy fall in love, and though I knew the truth would, of course, come out, it didn’t play out exactly like the trope. Again, because Marion. She’s just so good at taking a well-worn (and in this case, most hated by me) trope and tweaking it to make it worth the journey. Asher isn’t a bad guy, he’s just not seeing the big picture at first. Daisy, of course, is delightful, and you might remember her from, Ski, Sparks, and Serendipity. I was delighted to find her to be the female lead of the book, and I love how her previous appearance dovetails into her own story.

As per usual, I devoured this book in one sitting, despite my initial misgivings about the trope. I have truly learned by now that Marion doesn’t do things exactly like you expect, and that’s a compliment. Can’t wait for the next book!

The title couldn’t have been more perfect for this story.
Asher works for a top architect firm in New York and desperate for promotion but when his firm looses yet another client to a rival in Chicago he finds himself agreeing to spy for them. The Chicago firm have software which is “secret” and making them a standout, Asher has already been offered a position there so it seems easy, go their and get the information his boss needs and return home to his dream role.
At the Chicago firm, Daisy who herself is vying for promotion agrees to show the sights to Asher in a bid to persuade him to accept the job.
I absolutely loved Asher and Daisy, how he called her Red always brought a smile to by face. They both loved their jobs, Daisy trying to sell the Chicago dream and Asher batting it away with how New York was better. Things become complicated when Asher finds himself falling for Daisy, the thought of lying to her just to obtain an elusive promotion which he deserved on his own merits anyway. When he is confronted with ghosts from his past, he wants to turn and walk away but Daisy helps him navigate it all, if he didn’t realise his feelings before this then he certainly did now.
This is not a spoiler as the synopsis gives this much but fear not because their is so much more to their story and I adored everything, from the pizza’s to rom-com’s under a blanket fort it was just perfect.
I also urge you to get the bonus epilogue, such a perfect way to end their story.
My bucket list of places to visit now also includes the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool followed by a slice of pizza (or pizza pie as Asher calls it)
Thank you Marion De Rè for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

Lillies, Lies and Love is the third book in the Season of Love series, but can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

This series has been such a fun adventure--- exploring each season in a different location. This time, we head to Chicago for the spring. If you already love Chicago, this book will definitely be up your alley, as it definitely feels like a love letter to the city in many ways. Daisy's love for it certainly does shine through and may just have you wanting to plan a trip there yourself. That definitely makes her the perfect person to try to persuade Asher- a loyal New Yorker- to make the move and take a job at the architecture firm where she works. That isn't going to be easy though with the secret he's keeping--- he's actually there to spy for his boss. That could have made it difficult to like and trust his character, but Marion pulled it off brilliantly. Their story drew me in right away and I couldn't get enough of their banter--- most of which came from the friendly competition over Chicago vs New York. They also had a very easy chemistry between them that I couldn't help but love. When you throw in an unexpected family reunion bringing up some past hurts, there really was so much to love in this story. Marion's books are always such an enjoyable escape, and this one was no exception... it's definitely one you'll want to experiencer for yourself.

Lillies, Lies and Love is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have minimal minor language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Lilies, Lies and Love was a pleasure to read! It was entertaining, fresh, interesting and full of amazing architectural and historical facts about Chicago. I visited the city a few years ago, and even though I loved it, I didn’t appreciate it as much as Daisy. I’d have loved to have a friend or tourist guide as passionate as her. It definitely made me put it back on my wish list of places to visit. There are so many landmarks to see and food to eat, I actually did a virtual tour while Daisy described every single historical and interesting fact to Asher. I can’t say this made me enjoy the book any less because even though it took me longer to finish it, I was so invested that it didn’t take any fun out of the experience.

Asher is a talented architect working at a New York prestigious architecture firm whose clients have been switching to a rival firm in Chicago. His boss is adamant to get back his clients up to the point to offer Asher a promotion if he does some corporate espionage.

Daisy is this passionate and nerdy architect who is giving the task to make this young and talented architect from New York fall in love with the city.

Their relationship is full of banter and chemistry. It was a delightful to see these two characters heal their past wounds and grow together into this amazing and happy couple.

I thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. This is my voluntary and honest review.

Asher is asked by his boss to travel from NYC and spy on one of the most successful architectural design firms in Chicago by pretending that he is interested in a position; in exchange, he will earn a much desired promotion in his current firm. Daisy is tasked with showing Asher around the Windy City and sharing her love of all the things she loves about the city to convince him that the position is worth taking. Daisy is an encyclopedia of everything and anything related to the city which she loves. Along the way, Daisy helps Asher heal the broken relationship he has with his mom and brother and realize that he is really not as happy as he thought he was living and working in NYC. Asher, for his part, helps her develop the strength to never again go back to her loser of a boyfriend and stand up for herself.
I love Chicago and have taken many an architecture tour while visiting the city, but I can't wait to go back and experience all that Daisy shared with Asher about this grand city. The details included in this book will make you believe that the author lives in Chicago but it is proof of the thorough research that the author committed to when deciding where to set this book.
While the majority of the book takes place in a two-week period, the two characters become friends and their banter at times had me chuckling out loud. I now can't wait for Lucy's book...

What a cute third book in the Seasons of Love series! It can be read as a standalone with a couple of catch-up cameos from Ski, Sparks, and Serendipity.

I am a Midwestern gal, and Chicago is our nearby big city playground. The setting of this story with many familiar and new-to-me Chicago historical facts was a treat. Daisy's job in this story is to get Asher to love Chicago, and she did a great job reminding me what I love about it, too!

What I enjoyed about this story: It might be a hidden identity story, but the chemistry is real. I love the idea that second chances and forgiveness are reasonable choices for those who deserve them. Good people make bad choices, but their character is often defined in what they do next.

Daisy and Asher have a neat symbiosis where she learns to stand up for herself, claim what she wants, and stand firm for what she won't tolerate, while Asher defines what is important, finds healing and clarifies his plans for his life. I love when stories feel realistic and take characters on unexpected journies. You know Daisy and Asher are going to be endgame, but it's a rocky path to HEA with lies and love between them.

This was a cute, quick, closed-door read. I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own.

Daisy is chasing her dream job in an architecture firm in Chicago, the city that she loves. Her boss assigns her the task of showing around a potential hire from New York and convince him to stay.

Asher is a determined and true New Yorker sent to Chicago to spy on the firm Daisy works for to find out why his firm keeps losing clients and report back to his boss.

Daisy is sweet, funny, smart and just a delight. She blows Asher away with her fountain of Chicago knowledge. Asher is determined, protective, and such a charming tease. They had so much chemistry from the start, and it was so much fun touring Chicago with them. They end up helping each other out – him with her fear of storms and her ex, her with something from his past.

It was so much fun to see who wins in this battle of Chicago vs. New York!

Some of my favorite things: Running scoreboard for Chicago vs. New York, the pillow fort, and his protectiveness & calling her Red.

- Romcom
- Chicago vs. New York
- Intelligent FMC
- Protective MMC
- Strangers to more
- Secret Identity
- Architecture nerds
- A pinch of fake dating
- Playful banter
- Found family
- So much food!
- Just kisses

Lilies, Lies & Love is a must! Makes we want to go back to Chicago and see some things I missed!

Happy reading!

This was cute. I really liked the story and the characters. I was waiting for Daisy’s book and I adored her with Asher. Lilies, Lies and Love is the third book in Marion De Re’s Seasons of Love series.
I loved reading about Daisy and Asher’s interactions. They had a witty banter with each other. It was sweet how they connected and I liked reading about their tours of Chicago. It was fun to learn more about Chicago since I have never been and I loved how passionate Daisy was about Chicago and architecture
There was so much going on for both Daisy and Asher and it was cool to see them grow throughout the book. Asher had a lot of hurt from his past and he had to learn how to come to grips with his childhood. Daisy had to figure out who she was and if she was willing to take a risk for love.
The plot was engaging and it was relatively low stress. There were some times when I was worried but the ending was perfect. Lilies, Lies, and Love is a closed door contemporary romance.

Book Highlights
He gives her a nickname
They explore Chicago together

CW: mentions of cheating in the past, family estrangement, past verbal abusive relationship

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

This is a kisses only contemporary romcom that is the 3rd book in the Season of Love series. It is the first book that I have read by this author and can completely be enjoyed without having read the other stories in this series. I don't even know if the books are related. I read that the series is set in different seasons and locations.

This book was full of facts about Chicago. I thought I was reading a book by a native and was shocked that it was written by someone that doesn't even live in the United States. I don't believe English is her first language, but I never would have guessed that! This is a very well written and well edited book. Maybe because someone that doesn't speak English as a first language is more aware of proper grammar. Either way, I was very impressed. And I want to read the other books this author has written.

Now in addition to the wealth of knowledge provided about Chicago, there was also a very sweet romance. One thing I will note is that brief references are made to couples that live together and are not married. No details regarding intimacy are given.

I was given an advanced digital copy of this book to read by the author via Netgalley. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is Book 3 in the author’s Season of Love Series. Book 3 takes readers to Chicago in the spring. Reading this book made me anxious for spring weather to arrive. It also made me want to visit the city of Chicago even more. This book gave a tour of the sights, food, and architecture in the Windy City. Readers are given a sample of what makes Chicago a great place.

Asher Forbes is an architect whose boss sends him to Chicago to spy on the competition.
Daisy Harden is also an architect living in Chicago. Her boss assigns her the task of convincing Asher to move from New York City to Chicago and take a job with their company, the same company Asher was sent to spy on.

As Daisy takes Asher on a world wind tour of the city, an attraction between the two develops. This causes Asher to feel guilty about being there under false pretenses. What happens when Daisy learns the truth?

I liked the slow burn work rivalry with a touch of fake dating feel of this book. Marion De Re is known for her closed door romances. This one does not disappoint.

The teaser at the end of this book has me excited for Book 4.

I loved this newest installment in the Seasons of Love series from Marion De Re. Daisy and Asher are the cutest architecture nerds!

Daisy works at an architecture firm in Chicago and gives architecture tours of the city in her spare time. She is tasked with persuading Asher to come work for her firm, and takes the responsibility very seriously. What she doesn’t know is that Asher is there under false pretenses. His boss back in New York City sent him to spy on the firm and figure out their secret to success. As they get to know each other, sparks fly (but not so hot that they start the next Great Chicago Fire!). Daisy is dealing with a persistent ex, and Asher has family trauma that has impacted every aspect of his life, whether he realizes it or not.

I absolutely adore Daisy and her enthusiasm about Chicago, its history, and especially its architecture. Asher is a good guy, being forced to do a bad thing. Their attraction was pretty instant, but this slow burn had me cheering them on and waiting for that first kiss was absolutely worth it!

This closed door, hidden identity, workplace romance has me dreaming of my own trip to Chicago, taking in the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Windy City. I can’t wait for Lucy’s summer story!

Thank you, Netgalley and Marion De Ré for this arc!

My heart is full of love after finishing this swoony rom-com. It's such a sweet, quick read!

Daisy works at an architecture firm in Chicago. Asher works at an architecture firm in New York. Asher's boss sends him to Chicago to spy on the successful firm Daisy works. Asher pretends to be on a hunt for a new position at the firm Daisy works for to find out why it's so successful and which technologies they use. Daisy's role is to convince Asher to take the job at her firm. So, she shows Asher the windy city and its stunning historical buildings. As the days pass, romantic feelings grow between them.

I devoured this book. The characters are adorable, and I love the little Chicago vs. New York game they were playing about the historical buildings in both cities. It makes me want to go to Chicago and see all the beautiful buildings with my own eyes! And I want Daisy as my guide, obviously! I couldn't get enough of this book. This was such an amazing read!

ARC REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Marion De Rè’s Lilies, Lies, and Love is a love letter to the Windy City!

After losing multiple clients to a competing architecture firm, Asher is tasked with going undercover to gain insider secrets. However, his biggest takeaway is falling for his host, Daisy. Not only does she convince him the city has a lot to offer, she helps heal family wounds and opens his heart to love. But when his secret is unveiled will their connection outweigh his disception?

Lilies, Lies, and Love is the third book in De Rè’s Seasons of Love Series. I have been following this series since the very beginning. While I enjoyed the first two, this one has emerged as my favorite.

Daisy’s appreciation for architecture was infectious. By the transitive property, I walked away with newfound knowledge and fun trivia facts. Furthermore, the itinerary she created appears to be ideal for those visiting the city for the first time. I hope to one day travel to Chicago and use this book as a quasi travel guide!

Be sure to read this book if you enjoy clean romances that features popular tropes and the sweetest love story!!!

Special thanks to Netgalley, Victoria Editing, and Marion De Rè for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Lilies, Lies, and Love, the third book in Marion De Re’s Season of Love series, is a delightful romantic comedy full of humor, banter, swoony moments, and romance. I adored everything about this sweet book.
I adored Daisy and Asher. Their relationship was both playful and real. The almost kisses in this book were so swoony. The banter and chemistry between Daisy and Asher were so good. Daisy reminded me of Daisy on Joey’s season of the Bachelor. She was fabulous! Asher was such a good man. His character arc was so well done.
One of my favorite parts of the book is the city of Chicago. My dad is from Chicago, so it was so fun to explore the city with Daisy and Asher. Now I want to plan a trip to Chicago so I can show my kids where my dad grew up. De Re really brought the city to life through her writing.
The story had me hooked from the first chapter. Daisy and Asher both had some baggage to work through, but it never overtook the romance, it just added to their relationship and connection. It was so well done.
I adored this fabulous book. Daisy and Asher were so cute together. I will be rereading this book again. It is a perfect comfort read.
Thank you to the author for the gifted copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This sweet story was like a spring breeze and a little breath of fresh air.
Marion's writing always has a way to engulf us in the story and characters as if we're there with them.
I loved both characters and found them really relatable, down to earth and likeable.
Asher works in New york and is hoping for a promotion for some time. His boss is a bad person and uses his need to evolve to manipulate him into trying to spy a rival company and steal information from them to their advantadge. He has no choice to agree, and so he goes to Chicago under the pretense to want to start working with that company. In there he finds so much than he hoped for.. he is assigned to Daisy, a sweet and optimistic woman, who loves this city and is told to woo him into moving there. So she goes all in and becomes his tour guide for the week. And thay really hit it off.
Even if their relationship starts with false pretenses, it clearly evolves (and fast) to something real. They quicky become friends and then fall for each other, one nerdy Chicago fact at a time!
The banter and chemistry between main characters was just spot on, and made me laugh and swoon in several moments. The side characters (Lucy and then Evan) were really pertinent too, and I would really like to see their story as well.

A charming story with strong feelings, love for Chicago, and a bit of suspense (courtesy of some failed spionage).

Romance, humor, and a battle of city pride between a passionate Chicagoan and a skeptical New Yorker.
Daisy’s enthusiasm (for her hometown and life in general) is infectious, and shakes Asher’s resolutions (both professionally and personally), add some revelations to his family drama and he's taken to a breaking point.

The banter between them is sharp and fun, with Chicago vs. New York debates providing plenty of entertaining moments. While some of the architectural details may be a bit much at times (if you're not into it, I personally loved them), they added authenticity to the story.

I loved all of Asher’s personal journey and Daisy's character development. They both grow together.

Overall, Lilies, Lies & Love is a charming, closed-door romance perfect for fans of witty banter, second chances, family reunions, and of course, Chicago.

And thank you Marion for the named chapters! lately authors don't bother with it, and I love them (heartbrake did made me cry).

Firstly I want to thank to netgalley for providing me an ARC.
What caught me attention and made me read the book was the title, but I must say that the whole book captivated me from start to finish. The story mixes romance with a lot of secrets between the characters, and that tension is what kept me reading, and how I slowly started to understand why people behave the way they do, and the lies and misunderstandings make the relationships more complicated than they first appear.
I liked that the characters weren’t perfect. They make questionable choices and sometimes misread each other, which makes the conflicts feel more believable. The pacing also works great because the story doesn’t reveal everything at once; it gradually uncovers what’s really going on, so it kinda builds anticipation. The writing is straightforward and easy to get into, so it’s the kind of book you can read quickly while still getting invested in the characters. For me, it worked because it balanced romance with enough drama and tension to keep things interesting.

Overall I loved the book; I will be reading more by this author and most definitely will be reading the book again.
