Dieses Buch hatte mich in der Bücherei so breit angelächlt, dass ich es einfach mitnehmen musste. Es wunderschön und das hört nicht beim Cover auf. Die Schönheit lebt weiter auf jeder Doppelseite dieses Buches.
Schöne Illustrationen und tolle Farben.
Nur die Texte fand ich etwas lieblos und nichtssagend.
Aber da es für mich auch in erster Linie ein illustriertes Buch gibt, gebe ich wegen der Texte nur einen Stern Abzug.

Ok, prije svega – moram li komentirati naslovnicu knjige? 😍 Ova tirkizna boja, ilustracija, pa čak i sam naslov je baš kul.

Ovo je jedna prava mačko-knjiga s puno pozitivne ženske energije.

Skup kratkih priča o poznatim caricama, glumicama, spisateljicama, slikaricama i mnogim drugima – sa svojim mačkama.

Osim predivnih ilustracija, posebno mi se dojmila i sama ideja knjige. Upoznaš osobe za koje nisi ni znao i otkriješ zanimljive detalje iz njihovih života, a uz to dobiješ i niz savjeta i korisnih informacija o mačkama koje možemo primijeniti i mi ljudi – i ponešto naučiti iz njih.
Plus, brzi test da vidiš koja ti mačka najbolje pristaje. 😃🐱

Sve u svemu, simpatična knjiga koja se pročita u sat vremena i savršen je poklon osobama koje vole mačke.🙂

Besides keeping mice away, cats are a wonderful companion. Thing we can learn form cats are, independence, being demanding, being playful, being ready to show your claws, being self caring and being kind.

Loved the biography stories.
the illustrations really made the book, such imagination.

BEHIND EVERY WOMAN IS A GREAT CAT by Lulu Mayo is such a delightful little book. In this book, you meet over 30 inspirating women, ranging from mathematicians and engineers to writers, actors, writers, and artists, and their purrrfect cats. Mayo has added beautiful illustrations and some fun facts! This was such a delight to read, especially since we own a cute little kitten since three weeks (who likes to bite my books unfortunately, but I'll accept it, Loeka is a pure delight). I am rating this book with ★★★★☆

Eerst dacht ik dat dit een kinderboek was, maar nu ik het uit heb kan ik toch wel concluderen dat het voor volwassenen is. Het gaat over beroemde vrouwen en hun katten. Hoewel ik niet alle vrouwen ken, stoorde mij dat niet. Het is een leuk boek, met grappige illustraties.

Me encantan los libros sobre gatos, tengo decenas, así que no pude dejar de hacerme con él cuando lo vi en la estantería de la Librería Mujeres. Con todos los que tengo, no sabía que todavía podía aprender algo más sobre gatos, pero sí, esta pequeña obrita aporta datos muy curiosos. Lo leí con el móvil en la otra mano, para ampliar la información aportada, ver la foto de ese gato o el fragmento de película. ¿Sabías que los franceses enviaron una gata al espacio que regresó con vida a los cuatro días? ¡Yo tampoco! Jaja.

Aprovecho para decirte que, si tienes gatos, protejas las ventanas, la curiosidad les lleva a arriesgar su vida 🙏🏼

Behind Every Woman is a Great Cat, is a brilliant book that show cases inspirational women and their feline friends.

As much as this book is about cats, so many admirably hardworking women have been featured in this book. From creative careers such as: artists, actors, writers and musicians to careers like engineering, prime minister, humanitarian and entrepreneur we see such a range of women who have made an impact in our world through the course of history. All of these women of course have had a furry companion or love for cats that has stayed with them throughout their lives.

Alongside the text beautiful illustrations line these pages, bringing to life the many powerful women and their cute cats. Fun facts are scattered amongst the tales of women with; lessons we should learn from cats, a feline hall of fame, and even a feline flowchart that shows you the furry friend you are most like.

I think this book brings a fun aspect to the concept of people and their pets. I found it interesting as it is practically the reverse of the term 'mans best friend'. Rather than a man and his loyal dog, we have a book all bout a woman and her inspirational feline.

This charming little book is a delightful flip-through experience, filled with gorgeous illustrations that celebrate both iconic women and their feline companions. While I didn’t recognize all of the featured women, I was pleasantly surprised to see several familiar names and even more surprised to learn they were cat lovers!

It’s not a deep read, but as a gift book, it absolutely shines: light, visually stunning, and full of small, satisfying discoveries. A perfect pick for cat lovers and art enthusiasts alike.

The only name on the cover is Lulu Mayo, who does the illustrations. That’s your clue that the text (by Justine Solomons-Moat) is pretty much incidental; this is basically a YA mini coffee table book. I found it pleasant enough to read bits of at bedtime but it’s not about to win any prizes. (I mean, it prints “prolificate” twice; that ain’t a word. Proliferate is.) Among the famous cat ladies given one-page profiles are Georgia O’Keeffe, Jacinda Ardern, Vivien Leigh, and Anne Frank. I hadn’t heard of the Scottish Fold cat breed, but now I know that they’ve become popular thanks Taylor Swift. The few informational interludes are pretty silly, though I did actually learn that a cat heads straight for the non-cat person in the room (like our friend Steve) because they find eye contact with strangers challenging so find the person who’s ignoring them the least threatening. I liked the end of the piece on Judith Kerr: “To her, cats were symbols of home, sources of inspiration and constant companions. It’s no wonder that she once observed, ‘they’re very interesting people, cats.’”

Oh wat een tof boek! Voor alle kattenvrouwtjes ;)
Maar echt, zo leuk. En niet het zoveelste salontafelboekje dat er mooi uit ziet. Achter elke powervrouw staat een super kat is ook boeiend van inhoud.

Naast leuke kattenweetjes en -testjes staan er ook een heleboel portretten in (in woord en beeld) van belangrijke vrouwen uit het verleden én het heden. Zij worden voorgesteld samen met hun favoriete kat(ten).

De meeste vrouwen kende ik maar sommige waren mij tot nu toe onbekend; kunstenaar Remedios Varo bijvoorbeeld. Van diegene die ik al kende had ik in de meeste gevallen geen idee dat het ook kattenvrouwen waren: Jacinda Ardern, Ada Lovelace of Dorris Lessing bijvoorbeeld. Fijn om te weten dat zij in ’mijn team’ zitten.

De kleurrijke tekeningen van Mayo maken dit boekje vol sterke vrouwen helemaal geweldig. Powervrouwen en super katten: mijn ideale combinatie!

Such a sweet little book for your coffee table or bookcase. I judge books by their covers; I snapped this one up almost on looks alone at a local bookshop and was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable of a read it is! Meet some known and maybe unknown women who have lived life to their full and loved cats all the while doing so. I loved the Joy Adamson and Josephine Baker bio snapshots; Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron the poet, was new to me. There are little tidbits about cats throughout the book. I am loving the trend of quick reads where you learn about people from history, and quirky, freehand illustrations to accompany the text. A fun gift for any girl/women who is friends with furry felines!

Donne che hanno fatto la storia, che hanno fatto tanto e che hanno amato gatti e che hanno fatto parte con loro della storia. Questo libro sicuramente può essere illuminante.

Sicuramente ho letto questo libro in un momento particolare. Me lo hanno regalato e lo tenevo lì in libreria da tempo, poi ho deciso di prenderlo e purtroppo nel frattempo la mia gattina è venuta a mancare.
Questo è uno dei libri che hanno preso piede dove vengono descritti e si parla di personaggi che hanno in qualche modo fatto storia o fatto parlare di sé. La particolarità di questo è che si tratta di personaggi che hanno avuto e amato dei gatti.
Libro carino, ma senza niente di particolare.

Een superleuk boek met hele bekende en wat minder bekende mensen en hun katten of de bond die zij hebben met een kat. Heel leuk om te lezen ook mede door de prachtige illustraties die we steeds krijgen. En dan zijn er nog extra's. Quotes, een beslisboom, feitjes over katten, en meer.
