written by AI?

I think I accidentally purchased another book written by AI, I thought craft books would be safe from that. How do I know? There is an entire page about measuring tape and an entire page about what ergonomic means, then when it comes to learning how to crochet, they don’t explain how to make a slip knot. The most basic of things you need. They just say, “Make a slip knot.” And I’m like, “…really?” Also some repetition in speech and very robust writing style where you need simple instructions.
Also some things are somewhat vague in learning techniques, like not telling you how many chains to make for double and triple crochet turns.
I guess I did get good information on what sort of yarn to use for projects, and how to care for yarn creations that I don’t normally find in other fabric craft books.
I mainly picked this up as a basics refresher since I seem to forget how to crochet after each time I learn it.
Also the cover is very pretty.

Nothing but words...

...for people who know nothing about crochet but would rather read about it than do it. No helpful step by step photos of different stitches, just wordly attempts to describe them. No actual patterns or graphs. An (un)helpful list of things you could potentially make: hats, socks, blankets...in a word: duh since no hints on how to do them are included, plus the photo examples are probably well out of a beginner's ability. Thanks to KU no money was wasted on this useless gem and, even so, I'm kinda sorry I wasted time on it at all.

*For true crochet beginners, there are plenty of worthy books to learn by that do provide good info and some are also on You Tube and other sites to explain stitching methods. Helpful names that come to mind are Salena Baca, Edie Eckman, Margaret Hubert, Shelley Husband and several others.

My only issue, is that there were no helpful hints for left handers.

I picked up this book because I always thought crochet looked so fun, but I had no idea where to start. Honestly, I’ve never even held a crochet hook before, so I was worried I'd get overwhelmed. But right away, the instructions felt easy. The step-by-step photos were awesome and made it simple to understand how to hold the yarn and make those first loops. I was amazed when I started to see real stitches forming in my hands.
The best part is that the book doesn’t assume you know anything. It breaks down the basics and even covers things I didn't know I needed to know, like how to pick yarn or what the numbers on the hooks mean. There are little tips sprinkled throughout that helped me fix mistakes without feeling frustrated. I tried a couple of the practice patterns, and even though my first try wasn’t perfect, I felt proud just being able to finish something with my own hands. Each small success made me want to keep going. If you want to try out crocheting this is definitely the place to start! I highly recommend this book to everyone considering this hobby.

ABSOLUTELY FOR BEGINNERS. ***NEVER TOUCHED A HOOK***

Great for Absolute beginners! No pun intended and has some great reminders for those of us with experience, however I felt some of the material could have been expanded on. The author did such a great job explaining everything that was put in the book I was disappointed in reaching the end of the book. Needs more information on color changes, color work and yarn/crochet troubleshooting.

Crafting

I have always wanted to weave, something out of a yarn- a hat or scarf but I always turn a straight knit into a curve (vice versa). I loved this read, and the term: blocking, really makes a difference.

In a very treatable way, the author broke down everything from shape, size of nedlees, yarn, and stiches in a very understandable y. This boot is a keeper for beginners.

Read on KU.

Truly a book for beginners. Not pattern oriented.
