I've had love, and ruined it. I've come to live with that brutal loss for years. But when I'm tasked with having to stay in a remote cabin as ranch manager for Black Gulch, those demons of my past come back to haunt me. Finding a woman half frozen in a snow storm when I was checking cows wasn't what I expected. But when my responsibilities, and her safety clash, will I repeat the same mistakes, or follow my heart, even if it could mean the end of us all?
I have been patiently waiting for Ford’s story I knew it was going g to wreck me… and it was so much more than I ever could he imagined.
Ford goes to the cabin every winter to atone for his past but while he is there he is blindsided by what could be his future. Will he let go of his guilt and grab the future he is being handed or will his guilt eat at him?

📌 This book does contain rape and sexual assault scenes. The FMC was abducted by two men and was raped by them. There are no on-page scenes, however, there are recollections of the things the men would do along with the aftermath.

He tattoos the date on his body, uses the date as his password, gets piercings to remind himself of how many men assaulted her, etc. He slowly heals throughout the book, but it's overwhelming at first.
Ford and his broken soul. April and her broken soul.
Ugh. So good. I loved them together so much. I love this series. They are the easiest books to read and I can fly through them. Give me all the cowboys and all the black gulch books.
Fate is a cruel mistress when she wants to be, but also can be the glimmer of something beautiful amidst all the darkness in the world.
When a winter storm brings two tortured souls together Ford & April find a connection that neither of them expected. Despite all the trauma, all the darkness and all of the suffering they have endured it seemed they could be open with one another. Completely vulnerable in the most beautiful way, but of course it’s not that easy.
Ford’s past continues to haunt him and his doubt creeps in, infecting what could be. April’s fear of asking for too much causes the tension between the top of them to remain thick and palpable for so long… that when we get our epic “f*ck it” moment it is just that and so much more. Heading back to Black Gulch in this book feels so much different than the others because we get more backstory, more connection to the overall plot, and also we get to see glimpses of our favorites from the prior books.
MA has done it again with this book, showing us what can be despite it all. Showing us that there is beauty in breaking, that terrible things can happen, yes, but it doesn’t have to be hopeless. It can be transformative and ultimately change the very fabric of your soul for the better.
This book required a lot of wine, bourbon, chocolate, and several tissues. It was evocative and in the end all I wanted was to squeeze Ford and April because they deserved so much more but at least in all the wreckage they were able to find one another.

🐎𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜: This is a must read in continuing the series. April is a girl after my own heart, she is fierce, funny, bright and so strong. Ford is someone that just needed to feel seen, heard and loved. He was worthy of so much more than he let himself be, and April didn’t let him forget it.

Let’s give them all a big giant ‘fuck you’ and live a little.” “He kisses me as if he’s possessing me… And all I want to do is beg for more.” “It’s me, I’m broken, frosty.” “She’s been the first glimmer of anything besides pain that I’ve felt for years.” “Is it wrong I just wanted to touch you?” “I could lose myself in her, and that’s terrifying. Yet, exhilarating.” “Are you ready, frosty? Show me how beautiful you are when you shatter.” “I need to be a damn big girl and take care of my shit.” “You look at me all open-mouthed like that, I might put something in it.” “She's a force of nature, my very own hurricane ripping me apart piece by piece so I can rebuild a better version.” "You're helping me fight my demons, let me stand with you against yours." If I had to describe Saddles in one word, it would be "AMAZING."
MA delivers a deeply emotional story, rich with themes of healing, self-acceptance, and the courage it takes to face past traumas in order to build a future filled with love and hope. It’s an absolute roller coaster—you’ll cry, scream in frustration, and there will be moments where you just want to shake some senses into Ford… but trust me, every bit of that emotional ride is worth it.
I was especially moved by how the characters grow—both as a couple and as individuals. MA handles difficult topics with remarkable care, compassion, and respect for those who may have lived through similar experiences.
A powerful, heartfelt read that stays with you long after the last page.
Well folks she did it again. What can I say I couldn’t put this down, seeing as it is THREE AM and I just finished this book. WOW. God I knew going into it I already loved Ford, but getting his back story and figuring out why he is the way he is? Mannn I loved it. I definitely shed some tears. April, that poor girl was put through it. When trauma meets trauma should be a tagline because that’s what this was. I love this universe so much and can not wait to watch the rest of their stories unfold.
Oh, M.A. Cobb…how you love to ensnare me, break my heart and then sew me back together. I’ve been chomping at the bit (pun intended) for Ford’s story since we met Mason in book 1. In my opinion, this is the darkest the series has gotten but I think it was handled artfully and was key to the character’s development. I love that Ford’s mental health was addressed so frankly, because so often men are expected to be emotionless. Our FMC is simply incredible. If you love strong, kick-butt, takes no guff heroines, you’re going to love her! Now back to suffering while waiting for book 4.
OBSESSED! I devoured reading this book! I loved getting Ford’s story. It was beautifully sad and sweet! I definitely can’t wait for more.
Ford is tortured by his past and love he has lost. He is isolated in the cabin while working on keeping an eye on the cattle up in the snowy mountains.
April was taken and held against her will, she finally escapes and runs into Ford at the cabin. He takes her in and slowly they help heal each other from pain.

Hot damn! Fords story is so sweet and sad! This story contains so many tropes, forced proximity, cowboy romance, age gap, and more! You will fall in love with Ford and April and their story together.
A tortured past a Snowed in cabin what will happen next? I guess you’ll have to read to find out! Saddles is an emotional roller coaster that will have you tearing up to laughing and everything in between! The growth and healing throughout this story is heart breaking and inspiring. Plus…the ending is just 🤯🤯🤯
This is my absolute favorite in this series. There is something special about Ford and April that I love. These characters are resilient and have been through so much. I love how fierce April is, that girl has a fire that can't be dulled no matter what life throws at her. When these two are paired together, it is perfection. They were what each other needed at the perfect moment in their life. All kinds of emotions can be felt in this story. It flows nicely from page to page. With each piece and component revealed in the storyline/plot, it draws you in, keeping you hooked to the story. I can't get enough of the book. It's a phenomenal read. This author knocks it out of the park with this one. It is a must read. In my opinion you don't want to miss out on this.
This book had me all over the place with emotions. I was crying one minute and giggling the next. I was screaming, laughing, and having a heart attack in all the best ways. Ford is such a tortured soul and his healing is 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻. April's never ending sass and strength is something worthy of Ford's affection. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Favorite quote: “I’m far from perfect. But I had an angel come to me in a dream and tell me that even broken pieces can make a beautiful mosaic.” “I want to bury your demons under the weight of my undying love for you.
Wow! I read this book in one day. Saddles is book 3 in the Black Gulch series. I loved finally learning about Ford and his traumatic past. The story has lots of trauma but it's also a story of love, forgiveness and overcoming trauma. However this story has numerous triggers. Please check them before you read this book.
Trigger warnings: -Sexual Assault (on page & in flashback) -Forced Captivity -Trauma -Violence -explicit sexual content -suicidal ideations -substance abuse -guilt -depression -parental death
And emotional roller coaster, that you never want to leave.
Force proximity Found family Toucher you ☠️ Slow Burn Silly banter Wounded MC's A fast love that's undeniable
April is so done with her stepmother that she sees no reasoning with her father so she leaves. With in doing so she ends up in one heck of a nightmare that never seems to end. She finally escapes and she ends up in Ford's arms. Ford has a lot of Trauma from his past relationship and the rawness of what happened back then he feels that he has to isolate himself and in a way torture himself because of what happened but then April falls into his arms and his whole world changes.
These two are so right for each other that this book literally made me want to shake Ford so much. I feel that trauma got in the way of living in the now instead of the past and I also feel that there's a little bit of a grumpy Sunshine trope to this book because April for all that she went through was so optimistic and so ready to move on with her life and to get her life back. As where Ford could not do what she was doing but he wanted to do more for her.
I balled my eyes out constantly in this book because there are so many gut-wrenching moments that make you see how raw not only trauma bonding but grieving can do to a person. I would say check your trigger warnings because there are things in this book that are very hard topics and can be very triggering.
I couldn't put it down I loved every minute and wanted more of the two of them. They're passion is like no other and you get a sense of underlining hope that no matter how you deal with trauma there is a light at the end of it.
Both of them are amazing when it comes to getting what they want and the spice may have been a slow burn but when it does get spicy you are shocked to the Moon by how these two will come together.
The ending was perfect it was the way that it always should be and I couldn't have asked for a better ending. I for one loved that once again another couple from Black Glutch Series got their happily ever after and I cannot wait for Blues book.
M.A. Cobb, you had me in tears. Ford is broken from his past, but fate has a way of being cruel and promising. Saddles is book 3 of the Black Gulch Ranch Series and was on my top most anticipated reads of 2025. I couldn't wait to read Ford's story. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. I loved every page!!!
Read your trigger warnings. This read has its dark moments, but there is definitely a HEA. Ford is still dealing with his demons while watching over the heard alone in the mountains like he does every year. It is around the time he falls deep into his darkest thoughts, the anniversary of when he lost his love. The one he blames himself for.
The ranch is still being threatened, and the one behind it all is still unknown. As fate had it one cold, snowy night, he finds April hurt and the verge of death.
After having a huge fight with her father because of her nasty stepmother, she finds herself in an unfortunate situation of sexual assault. She is a fighter! With Ford's help, she is strong, and together, they fight their demons and help each other heal.
Ford has always kept people out, but April finds her way into Ford's heart. She is able to make him feel alive again, to love and hope. She's not going to let what happened to her stop herself from living and being with the man she loves and needs.
The twist when you find out the connection between Ford and April's attackers will leave you in suspense. I can not wait for book 4, Blue! The way M.A. Cobb ended that epilougue had me craving for more. This read was written so beautifully and had me in tears. I love this series! I will stay up all night to read it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Yes, he is older than her, but he is sexy and pierced 😏 and brings her to the edge every time. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 They are perfect for each other, fitting together like puzzle pieces.
This was an unbelievably amazing story! Heavy and intense but beautiful and sweet.
Ford is the 41 year old ranch manager with a dark past. April is the 23 year old university student with a dark present. Their paths cross during a snowstorm and they have to spend several days together in a tiny, remote cabin. And their lives will never be the same.
I have been waiting for Ford's story since I first read his name in Spurs and this did not disappoint. He is just as beautiful, sweet and haunted as one would expect based on the other books. He will make you cry, swoon, rage, scream, and cry some more.
April is a stunning character. Her story will break your heart and her determination will heal it. She is fierce and brave and powerful. I think I'm in love. And she came up with THE best name for her father's new wife.
I loved Ford & April and their story. They took me on a really intense emotional journey. We visited some dark places but we visited some beautiful places, too. And of course, we had some pretending to not be attracted to each other which always makes for a fun time. I loved the writing!
This book deals with some darker and intense themes. Please make sure to take care of yourself and check the trigger warnings. No story, no matter how good, is worth your peace.
I received an advance copy of Saddles which influenced nothing except how early I could read it. This review is written based on my own thoughts & opinions. And those thoughts and opinions are that it is freaking amazing!
It's so much fun to be in this world again! I love Black Gulch Ranch! I love the countryside and the cattle farming, Mason and Dixon and all the other wonderful characters that come with it! To say that I have been dying for Ford's book would be an understatement and I always knew that Cobb was going to put us through the wringer with this one. It's no secret that Ford has a hard time dealing with his past (something we know nothing about up until this book just btw), so finally getting to know him and his pain was absolutely beautiful.
And wow, did this book start off throwing us right into the action. What happens to April is scary and sadly, the reality most women have to face and experiencing it with her was heartbreaking! (PS. check triggers!). But she is such a strong character, I love how she kept her head up, how she strived to fight for herself. I loved her outlook on what happened to her and how she would not let it define her. Then of course, there's cozy snowed-in cabin vibes which is always a winner!!
Loved the tension between April and Ford, his reservations about her age and the hurt from his past really make the first half of the book a delicious slow burn and I was here for all of it. Ford's healing is not linear and there are some scenes that really break your heart but I loved both of these characters' growth. And, damn, was Ford hiding a surprise (cough cough piercings) and I literally couldn't get enough 😭. Of course, M.A. Cobb had to end the story by dangling juicy tidbits about the next book and now I am dying to read Blue's story!
Given the lead up to Ford in books one and two, I knew this one was the story I'd struggle with reading the most. M A Cobb does not write typical contemporary cowboy romance - they write dark cowboy romance with psychological feels. If you are a fan of mafia romance, they are much more that than cowboy, despite the setting. Ford's story was set to be dark, given his hinted past and TRIGGER WARNINGS his mental health is low and he does talk of suicide, before attempting it in this story. What I didn't expect was the dark side of this story from the FMC, who needs Ford to step it up and be there for her. Yes it's instalove, though the fact that they are in forced proximity, under life and death conditions, undercut by psychological mayhem is the breeding ground for that outcome, so it makes sense to me. The physical side of the relationship occurring so close to the stress of the FMCs initial experience is something I was wary of, reading on, and I had expected it to cut my rating of this book down. However, the FMC states that she wants to replace what wasn't her choice with choice, and for me, the multiple explanations of this enable me to accept that, for her, this allowed this to be a positive outcome. All the protector, male alpha vibes of the first two books, with the criminal undercurrent continuing. Look forward to the next.

Ford and April were absolutely everything one another needed. My heart has been hurting for Ford ever since Spurs and I am so happy to see this man find his smile and purpose again.
April is a complete badass who took the shit cards life dealt her and turned it into a winning hand. Her strength and determination was inspiring and I loved how she was able to see past Fords trauma and rough exterior to get to know the beautiful man beneath.
The Black Gulch Ranch Series has been one of my favorite found family series and getting to know all the characters is like becoming a part of the family yourself. They are fiercely protective of their own, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, work hard, love harder, and stick together through it all. Not to mention, all these silver foxes have me learning a new level of appreciation for my hubby getting older 🥵.
Ma's storytelling is flawless and just as well as she can write horror and gorn that'll make you squirm, she can craft captivating and heartfelt tales of morally grey cowboys that you can't help but fall in love with.
I'm already itching to get my hands on the next book! Highly recommend this entire series, just make sure you read them in order so you get the full story.
I knew what I was getting into when I picked up this book, but still... my heart was racing like crazy. I had to take so many deep, calming breaths while reading it. This was definitely one of the most emotional roller coasters Cobb has put me on, but honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way.
From the very beginning, I knew I was going to love Ford, but actually reading his story made me fall for him even harder. I want a man who loves me with the same passion and intensity that Ford has for April. Seriously, where can I find one like him? The strength and growth he displayed in this book warmed my heart. There really need to be more Fords out there because finding a man who’s as loyal and trusting as he is feels nearly impossible. I love that he was finally able to move past his past and embrace the new life April brought him.
Now... April. Wow. This woman is the definition of a badass with a heart of steel. Not everyone could come back from what she endured and still be able to give love—and men—another chance. I truly bow down to her. She left me in awe from start to finish, and I couldn’t be a bigger fan of hers.
While Saddles explores some darker and deeper themes, I believe it’s absolutely worth the read, especially if you love stories about love after hardship. The book is filled with elements of found family, a protective MMC, and revenge—everything I could ask for. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series!
This book was filled with all the trauma and all the angst. It is a nice slow burn, but when the heat hits it’s hot. Ford carries guilt like a 10 pound weight. He is beautiful and broken. April has her own trauma she deal with, but she is feisty and doesn’t plan to let it keep her from being happy. That is not to say that it never haunts her, but that is the thing about trauma…you can be fine and then all of a sudden a sound, smell, a sight, will bring it all back. The trauma while heart breaking was written so well in this book. The victims of the trauma and their experiences were different and how the handle it is different, which is so true to real life. No one’s experience is exactly the same as another. I loved getting to see characters from the past two books. April and her sass was fantastic and Ford is glorious. April is insatiable for him and I ate that up, loved it about her. This book made me laugh and cry. I have enjoyed this whole series so far and I can’t wait to dive into book 4.
A high-octane dark cowboy romance with at least 8 reasons to make you sweat.
This is the third book in the Black Gulch series by MA Cobb, which is an interconnected standalone. Seriously, you could just pick this one up no problem.
Am I allowed to have a favourite? Because this is it! I love that the first half of the book they are snowed in together and the tension of their growing connection is HOTTTTTTTT.
Oh and did I tell you there's only one bed in this cabin they are snowed in on? No? Well now you know, and it's up to you what you do with that information. (Read it immediately).
Back to those 8 very impressive reasons to pick this book up 🍆 Snowed In 🍆 Off label use of chocolate syrup 🍆 Multiple Os 🍆 Sexting 🍆 One bed 🍆 Cute nickname 🍆 Holy sh*t is he pierced? 🍆 Yes, he's pierced - one for every inch
I’m obsessed with this series. Rugged cowboy.. CHECK, older man.. CHECK, touch her and not survive.. CHECK, possessive.. CHECK, pretty much triple her size.. CHECK, forbidden.. CHECK!!!
This is the third book and they are all forbidden age gaps… I mean.. YUM!
Please check your trigger warnings before reading this book. There is loss and trauma but wow.. the way they both help each other out of the darkness! I mean, the FMC is a special kind of powerful. Such a rarity, but not the kind that isn’t believable because they are out there… surviving every day.
You have trauma bonding, forced proximity, attraction, bedazzled members (yes), tattoos, muscles, and chemistry.
You really can’t go Wrong with this series. This book though…
I really loved the first two books in the series but fords book just didn’t cut it for me. I thought it was a little crazy that only days after she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by two men, she was wanting to have sex with ford. I would have expected a little emotional trauma.. They really kind of skated over her whole experience while she was kidnapped too. Wasn’t much detail. And I really couldn’t feel any special bond between the two. It was like let’s have sex bam now let’s live together bam have a kid bam let’s get married bam. Just awful and going through the motions of a book without any emotion to tie me to it. And we never found out who hired the guys to do all that?

Each of the men from Black Gulch hold a special place in my heart, but Ford is a top tear jerker man.
Ford and April have to overcome their own demons and tragedies in order to have a chance at the future. M. A. Cobb did AMAZING job of how she portrayed the differences in how people deal with their pain, their loss, and the events that have led them to where they are now.
“You gave up on me! We were both broken.”
“But broken pieces can come together to make something beautiful, Ford. We could have made a mosaic, like those ones in Italy that have lasted a thousand years.” -April
Ford and April… I’m still processing this book.. this story was heartbreaking and raw, there is trauma, grief and longing all mixed in to this. It will break you and put you back together again. Ford with his grief from losing Sarah, and April- she’s just so strong, she goes through so much but still sees the positive in everything despite the hell she’s been through.
Ford finds her at her lowest moment and unbeknownst to him, starts to put himself and her back together again. They both fall fast, and despite some stumbling blocks come out the other side, United and ready to make new, happy memories together.
Wow, just when I don’t think the series can get better, MA comes blazing in with Ford. Holy hell, this one just hits in the feels in the best and worst ways. Tortured soul meets survivor soul and the two come together for an emotionally turbulent passionate filled ride. Broken pieces fitting together providing comfort and healing. High speed blender of emotion felt from sadness, frustration, fear, joy and true love. The Black Gulch family is epitome of a ride or die crew with unconditional love and loyalty. The appearance of characters from previous books makes my heart so happy. I truly enjoy getting lost in this world. This book had the perfect ending and left me wanting more.
Please check your triggers. I loved this book very much. My emotions were up and down in this book. April gets taken and hurt by two men, then finds refuge in another man in the middle of nowhere. Ford won't allow himself to have happiness because of his past, only to find out that the same incident from his past has happened to April. I love how April is super strong and leans on Ford for help. I love how Ford is finally opening up to the thought that he deserves to be happy. This story had me on my toes, the suspense was awesome! This whole series gets better with each book.
Ugh what an emotional journey! I loved every second of Ford and April's story. One of my MMC weaknesses is a closed off, grumpy man, with a traumatic that keeps him holding everyone at an arms length. This was for Ford 100%
My poor sweet April's goes through hell to get to Ford. Be prepared for kidnapping and SA. Do check trigger warnings! But through both characters trauma, they grow to heal each other.
A tragic but well earned love story for these two. I stayed up way too late turning pages on this one, friends! I definitely recommend.
M.A. broke my heart with Ford's emotional story. Ford is tortured by his past, and doesn't let anyone close. So when someone has to go up to the remote cabin every year, he volunteers. He finds a young woman in a snowstorm and keeps her safe. April was taken and held against her will. She is strong, smart and sassy. This book was so well written, full of trauma, healing and love. I could not put it down and can't wait for more in this amazing series!
