Rise Up: A perspectives study on the rise of Lazarus
Lazarus’s death and resurrection seen in John 11 is one of the Bible’s most compelling stories.
Death is inevitable and unstoppable. We can delay it but not deny it. Still yet, as powerful as death is, it has no power over the thunderous breath of God. This style of writing and storytelling is what I call a “perspectives study.”
What Is a “Perspectives Study”?
By stepping into the shoes of those within a story, we can draw out hidden insights and experience its richness in a fresh, personal way. Throughout this book, we explore the unique perspectives found in John 11, capturing how various individuals responded to Lazarus’s death—and to Jesus. As we journey together, I pray this book inspires each of us to break free from the darkness and step fully into the light of Christ.
To rise up means to shed our “grave clothes” and to be clothed in Jesus’s righteousness. Included in this study are Study Anchors—tools to deepen understanding of any Bible story. My prayer is that this book will encourage greater Biblical literacy and a renewed love for God’s Word in all who read it.
