The List #1

The Naughty List

Rate this book
Being a good girl never seemed to work out.
At least not for me and my two best friends.
So we promised each other, if we weren't married by our ten-year high school reunion that we were changing sides.
Bad girls have all the fun anyway.
Enter—The Naughty List.
Each of us is taking four items off a naughty list we wrote in junior high and completing them—no matter what.
Some of the items are cute and funny. Some are downright dirty.
Lucky for me, the handsome boy next door was at that ten-year high school reunion.
And he makes me want to forget all the good and go straight for the bed—I mean bad.
Wonder if he'll be okay helping me fulfill my promise to my friends.
It's the perfect excuse to do some things that I would NEVER do otherwise.
I'm a straight-A student turned into a nerdy writer with a bookshop. Good is my middle name.
But who knows? Maybe Santa's watching this year and maybe he isn't.
Either way, I'm done with the goodie-goodie routine.
It's The Naughty List all the way for me.

This book has numerous grammatical errors but I could live with those if it was in the slightest bit interesting. I tried for 20% of the book and then I skimmed the next 20% and it felt like it got worse. Truly just completely and totally uninteresting, not to mention poorly written.

This is a well written book with strong characters and an entertaining storyline. The author introduces us to three high school girls and a pact they made if they were still single at their ten year reunion creating the Naughty List. This book features Laurel and Leif with a second chance romance, Laurel's portion of the list and Leif's making her wishes come true. The story moves fluidly with laughter and love and is a fantastic Christmas romance filled with family and friends. I'm looking forward to the next book!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.

very cute second chance romance

Very cute second chance romance with a touch of Christmas. This was a very sweet story with lots of flashbacks and retellings of their lives together. This was a definite meant to be love that needed to find their way back to each other and this book is their story of how it all happened. Very sweet.

Writer and bookstore owner Laurel Guntry and her two besties from high school rent a cabin outside of Bar Harbor, Maine for their annual girls’ trip. Before Laurel can unpack her bags, her friends pounce and demand what happened four months ago at their 10-year reunion, specifically referencing swoon-worthy hunk Leif McIntosh, her one-night stand. But Laurel is determined to redirect their attention to The Naughty List they wrote in ninth grade, so they divide the twelve dares equally, four each, to be implemented after their visit.

Laurel’s first dare is to kiss an old flame, so she contacts who else but Leif, and they agree to meet up in their hometown of Austin, Texas at Thanksgiving. What she doesn’t know is that Leif, a successful accountant with his own firm in Denver, is very excited to reconnect. When they meet up at the fall festival, not only do they kiss again, thereby checking the first dare off her list, but they also agree to see if their relationship has merit and can be sustained long distance.

Ali Parker has created a wonderfully original, beautifully-written novel that features childhood sweethearts who fall away from each other at a devasting time in their lives, only to find each other after a decade. But beware, there is a crazy, vindictive villainess waiting to create havoc as our couple completes the fourth dare.

If you are searching for an unputdownable, enchanting second-chance steamy romance filled with wonderful characters, a riveting plot, and a sparkle of Christmas magic, look no further than The Naughty List. It will most certainly put you in the holiday spirit!

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.

I give Leif and Laura’s story an A+!

Leif and Laura were childhood sweethearts in Texas Because of a tragedy of both their fathers who died in the same fire as firemen, they drifted apart instead of together. Ten years later they meet up again because of a naughty list that her and her two best friends, Gemma and Mariam, made when they were in ninth grade. They are good girls, but now they have to have a bit of naughty in them to do the things on the list. They both go home for Thanksgiving, but she now lives in Tennessee and he in Colorado. They do get together again, but can a long distance relationship work? There is overwhelming love and steam on the pages of this book. They’re trying to work it out so they can be together in the same state, and then a misunderstanding happens when she goes to visit him as a surprise. She interprets it wrong and vows she can’t trust men anymore. She couldn’t in the past and she can’t now. Finally, she gives Leif a chance to explain. Does everything work out for them? By the way, she finishes her four things on the naughty list, too. Read and find out how this story ends. You won’t be disappointed.

I absolutely loved Leif and Laura’s story—it's definitely a top pick! This is the beginning of a new series. The story revolves around Leif and Laura, who were childhood sweethearts in Texas. They faced a tough moment when both their fathers, who were firemen, sadly died in the same fire, causing them to drift apart. Now, ten years later, they had briefly reconnected recently, but now a naughty list created from a group of teenage girls brings them back together!

Both Leif and Laura are heading home for Thanksgiving. Laura in Tennessee and Leif in Colorado—giving them a chance to reignite their romance. They both know what they want..:But can they really make a long-distance relationship work? This book is full of deep love and some exciting moments! They are determined to figure things out and find a way to be together again. But when Laura unexpectedly shows up to surprise Leif, a misunderstanding makes her doubt whether she can trust men anymore.

Just when it seems like things might fall apart, Laura decides to let Leif explain himself. Will they find their way back to each other? The fun in all in all of it is that she also checks off everything on her fun list!

Laurel and Lief -spoilers

Laurel and a Lief were high school sweethearts that broke up due to family trauma and hadn’t seen each other for ten years. Off page they meet back up at the 10 year HS reunion and have a night together. Now, Laurel and her friends decide to work through a bucket list they put together as teens and Laurel finds ways to incorporate her new rekindled relationship with Leif.
Was pretty drawn out story, Laurel and Lief are from Texas but he’s moved his company to Denver and she’s got a business in Tennessee. Neither one wants to leave their respective companies. For someone that’s so loyal to her bookstore, Laurel leaves it with a young employee quite often through the story.
Lief has a crazy ex girlfriend and she’s got causes issues leading to a third act breakup. I felt that Laurels reaction to the supposed cheating was a little dramatic. She blew things out of proportion and didn’t let Lief explain. Then he’s proposing and they haven’t even really been in the same state together.
The naughty list didn’t really turn out to be too naughty and while there was some spice, was not a lot. Just wasn’t a huge hit for me.

I don’t think I’ve ever regretted finishing a book before, but this was awful. I expected it (based on the blurb) to be a fun, spicy holiday book. It was vanilla and annoying with bland, stupid characters.

Laurel has the emotional development of a 13 year old. She is so in love with and attracted to Leif, but she will take any excuse not to have sex with him and on the rare occasions that they do, it is deep, meaningful 3 minute missionary.

Laurel agrees to participate in this naughty bucket list where she has to do such depraved tasks as “kiss an ex” and “steal something.” And then she ends up loopholing her way out of doing half of them anyway! But then she has the nerve to go on about how bad she is.

Laurel and Leif will not shut up about how much they love and miss each other even though they’ve been together for literally one week. There’s a stupid misunderstanding trope that all of the characters make fun of Leif for even though Laurel is the one who 1. jumps to conclusions and 2. ghosts him so he can’t explain.

It is so rare for me to hate a character as much as I hate everyone in this book.

Oh what fun this book was
In Junior high friends Laurel, Gemma and Mariam made a pact, if they were unmarried at their 10 year high school reunion they were turning from the good girls they were to bad girls.
That day the Naughty List was born.
Items on it ranged from cute, to funny, to extremely naughty.
Follow Laurel on her journey to the bad side and enjoy the fun she has along the way with her portion of the naughty list.
This is also a story of a young love lost and later found again.
Can Laurel and Leif make their relationship work this time?
With Leif onboard helping Laurel with her naughty list is she bound to succeed?
Such great characters and storyline, I loved them all and am looking forward to Laurel’s best friends Gemma and Miriam working through their own naughty lists.
I’d also like to see Leif’s brother Jack get his unexpected happy ending.
A fantastic Christmas story full of family, friends, laughter and fun plus a forever love with a few steamy parts.
Loved it. ♥️

I absolutely adored this book. I loved everything about it from the way it kept me smiling and laughing, to all the individual characters. And I was so completely head over heels falling for (and with) Laurel and Leif. At least, I was until they hit their stumbling block. I understood it. In fact, I even expected that that was where problems were going to come from. What bothered me was Laurel’s complete inability to even contemplate the possibility that she might be jumping to unwarranted conclusions based on her past that really had nothing to do with Leif’s present actions. I was so happy that they were able to talk it out and resolve where the misconception happened. But if I were one of their friends, I probably would have taken drastic action much sooner. However, the way this book concluded was so sweet and wonderful that even all my frustrations over that plot thread paled in the light of the perfect holiday ending.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

Teenage girls have bright and vivid imaginations...and in this story, that comes back to make three women's lives a lot more interesting! Laurel, Gemma and Miriam were all 'good girls' - bookish and what they considered boring by today's standards. When they find their 'naughty list' that they wrote in Junior High, they agree to each take FOUR things that their younger selves would consider to be naughty, and act on them! Laurel's first task is to kiss an old flame. Leif fits that bill quite nicely, as he and Laurel were quite smitten with each other during their younger days! Follow along the adventure as these three women figure out how to let loose in their lives, and Laurel and Leif learn to love again.
This was a really cute holiday story, and I would love to read more about a few of these additional characters in the book. We get hints of things that Miriam and Gemma do for their lists, but I think there's a ton of possibilities to explore these characters more deeply. This book was a rewarding and exciting read.

Ali Parker’s The Naughty List is a delightful blend of holiday cheer, sizzling romance, and witty humor that makes it a perfect escape for the festive season. The story follows a charming and refreshingly real cast of characters navigating love, ambition, and a sprinkle of holiday mischief.

The pacing is just right, keeping you hooked from start to finish. And while the romance takes center stage, the underlying themes of family, forgiveness, and self-discovery add depth to the story, elevating it beyond a typical seasonal romance.

If you're looking for a fun, flirty, and heartwarming holiday read with a bit of spice, The Naughty List is the perfect addition to your bookshelf. Ali Parker has crafted a holiday romance that’s as sweet as a candy cane and as satisfying as a cozy night by the fire.

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and am sharing my honest opinion.

This was such a fun read. Laurel and her besties made a pact when they were young teenagers that if they weren't married by their 10th high school reunion they would turn into bag girls and even made a naughty list for each of them. Fast forward and Laurel has a one night stand at the reunion with Leif who she has known forever. They were a steadfast couple back in the day before both their fathers were killed fighting the same fire as firefighters. Laurel is adamant about doing each of her list items and it makes for a very funny, sexy and Leif is along for the ride. This really is a great holiday read and of course, has a HEA. I love these 2 so much. Thanks for another great Book!!!!

This book is about Laurel and her two besties from high school Gemma and Mariam. Together, they made a naughty list in ninth grade. Now they are altogether in a remote cabin for a few days together. Each one decides to take 4 items each off the list and complete them. Lief mackintosh was also at their high school. He was the bad boy next door everyone fancied. At the schools 10 year reunion something happened between Laurel and Leif and when Laurel makes her way into their shared cabin the girls pounce on her and asks her what happened.
Make sure you read this book to see if the naughty list was completed and if it ends in a happily ever after. It's a lovely Christmas read to settle down with.
Thanks Ali, as always xx

Laurel and her best friends made a naughty list, and now it's time for them to go through it and do it what's on their list. Laurel and Leif have been friends and dated, and br I Jenny up, which left her heartbroken .Now, can they find their way back together? Or will she be hurt again? This book is compelling and captivating and tantalizing and heartbreaking all in one, and it has all the right feels and so much more. This is such a brilliant second chance read.
Three friends, all good girls and a naughty list, what can go wrong.
They agreed that if they aren't married by their ten year school reunion then they will carry out the Naughty List.
Laurel reconnected with her childhood sweetheart Leif at the reunion and now they are going to complete her part of the list together.
They are perfect together and their young love is still there but they live miles apart now. Can they maintain a long distance relationship or will it just get too hard.
A must read and I can't wait to read the rest of the friends stories.

The Naughty List, book one in The List series follows Laurel Guntry and Leif McIntosh. Laurel and Leif grew up together, he was literally the “boy next door”, but all of that changed when Laurel and Leif’s father’s both died at the same time, leaving the pair drifting apart. Now it’s been ten years, and when Laurel and Leif reunite at their reunion, they can’t stop thinking about each other. Meanwhile, Laurel and her friends Gemma and Mariam, find a letter they wrote as kids, with a list of things they made in the ninth grade, to complete if they were all still single. As each girl takes a portion of the list, and that’s when the fun begins..

This is another second chance romance story. It goes back to the early yrs of high school when Laurel and her friends made up a naughty list of things they would like to do. Fast forward to the 10 yr reunion when Laurel and her friends pull it out for a re-visit. Laurel and Leif are the stars of the story as their relationship reignites at the 10-year reunion. While the characters are well developed, and the romance is sizzling, this book seems to be slow reading as compared to the other Ali Parker stories. It is good holiday entertainment for the reader with some interesting twists and turns. It should be on the reader’s holiday list.

This is the first book in a new series. The concept is a lot of fun, good girls from high school who get together after their 10 year reunion to complete tasks from the naughty list they wrote when they were teenagers. There were lots of laughs in the book and a sweet love story between Laurel and Leif, childhood sweethearts who get back together. I enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

Cute read!
High school friends meet up for a weekend at a cabin and reminisce.
They take a list they made in school and decide to actually fulfill everything on the list - together or individually.
Laurel is happy to fulfill a few things, as long as a certain Lief was involved.
Loved seeing how they navigated their relationship as they had been friends in school until a devastating tragedy drew them apart, then a hookup, and now they lived in separate states, they had to figure out what was most important.
Such a good read!

This beautiful romance makes my heart smile! Still a steamy Christmas season between Laurel and Leif! Even with a little sadness and a huge misunderstanding these two were in love most of their lives! That 10 year high school reunion started it back up after the break up in high school. Then the girls and the naughty list kept it going, until it almost didn't! What an enchanting HEA. I'm ready for the next book. Thank you Ali for another charming heartfelt 5 star romance!

How naughty can three 14 yr old girls get while writing a list? Three best friends figure if they aren't married by the time of their 10 yr high school reunion (gasp) they have to split up doing 12 naughty items on the list. This book follows Laurel and Leif (ex high-school sweethearts) who remet up at reunion as they try to accomplish her tasks on the list. We also learn what has happened to them during and since high school.
I ❤️ loved this book. It was such a fun read. I can't wait to read the next one

Definitely a 5 star read. This story stars Leif and Laura. Both were childhood sweethearts in Texas. Their fathers were firemen. They both lost their fathers in the same fire. They grieved alone and lost ouch til 10 years later. Laura and her 2 bff’s have a naughty list they created in 9th grade. This naughty list brings them together again but now they will be in a long distance relationship. But, she’s in for a shock when a misunderstanding happens and she doesn't want to be with anyone. Lots of push/pull, but not to repetitive- good story.

A lovely festive tale, 3 school friends reunite to complete on a pact from their youth. They’ve been good girls all their lives and as teenagers made a list of naughty tasks to complete, should being good not worked out and found them the partner of their dreams.
Laurel did recently hook up with her high school sweetheart Leif and she enlists his help with her first task, could things develop from there, could they have the chance to rekindle their romance, and what will the rest of the tasks involve, for all of them?
A thoroughly enjoyable read, which I received as an ARC

A delightfully funny holiday story. Laurel and her friends wrote a naughty list when they were in high school and made a pact that if at their 10 year anniversary reunion they were not married, they would each cross something on the list. Her high school sweetheart Leif will volunteer to help her with her challenges after working out their problem and hooking up at the reunion. Together they make a great pair, but how can they have a relationship when they both have businesses in different states A real fun story to read.

Another dud. DNF 29%. The shenanigans were immature, the dialogue was immature, the definition of naughty was…you guessed it…immature. But the moment I realized I couldn’t take it anymore was at the end of chapter 11 when the mom asked the FMC, “Do you remember Mickey?” while holding up a mouse ornament. And she’s says “he is pretty cute though.” I mean… WTF?!? In what universe is Mickey Mouse not a universal staple?? The story lost any lingering credibility and potential at that point, and I was done.

The naughty list was made by 3 friends when they were still in high school, but they said it would come to light if they were still single when it came time for their 10-year reunion. Bingo, all still single, so they split the list between them. Laurel now has her naughty list to work on, now enters Leif into the story at the reunion, who was an old flame of Laurels when they were kids. They meet up again and reminisce the old days with a kiss. They end up in each other's lives again, but then a misunderstanding happens.....hopefully things can be sorted out
