It’s bright, it's peaceful, and impossible to escape. Welcome to DarkBright.

When a woman is found barely alive, stumbling along a remote mountain road, FBI Agent Abby Kane is called in to investigate. The woman can only say one word—DarkBright.

But when Abby follows the trail the woman left behind, she vanishes.

She later wakes in a sterile, industrial maze of endless identical halls. Surveillance cameras track her every move. Others are there too—calm, cooperative, even cheerful. Oblivious to how wrong everything feels.

No one can explain what DarkBright means.
No one can say why she’s there.
But everyone seems to think it’s utopia.

From USA Today bestselling author Ty Hutchinson comes a chilling new entry in the Abby Kane series—where everyone smiles, and no one asks why.

Fast like Patterson. Twisted like Marrs. Welcome to DarkBright.

"Darkbright" is a suspenseful thriller that blends elements of "Stepford Wives" and "Dark Pines," depicting a seemingly idyllic suburban utopia that gradually reveals a much darker undercurrent. I must admit that I have not always been drawn to books featuring detective or agent characters, as they sometimes come across as irritating. However, I grew fond of Abby and her partner, Kang. I believe everyone would be fortunate to have a coworker like Kang. His dedication to finding Abby was truly admirable, and I cannot emphasize enough how brave and tenacious Abby was!

Despite the gradual development, I found the process of uncovering the layers quite exciting. Hutchinson's character development, along with the atmospheric details, contributed to the narrative's captivating quality. Furthermore, as the unsettling elements of this community began to emerge, I was quite taken aback by the unexpected turn of events at the conclusion! I am now curious to check out more books in the series that feature my girl Abby!

WOW

Captivating. Thrilling. Intriguing. Morbid. You jump in feet first and take off running like you are in pursuit of the facts from page one. Cheering on Agents Kane and Kang with every turn of the page. So glad I was given the opportunity to read this book. Thank you for the gift. Can't wait to grab the next in this series.

DarkBright by Ty Hutchinson, the new Abby Kane thriller, is, I think, her most frightening case ever. And a must read.

From the time the unkempt almost crazy woman ran out of the woods around midnight onto the road in Knights Ferry and a deputy found her yelling DarkBright until the FBI in the form of agents Abby Kane and her partner Kyle Kang, things were scary and quite iffy.

The woman who was put to sleep by the local doctor so she could calm down and get some rest. She had some strange injuries. Missing teeth, finger nails and an amputated toe. Also no ID.
The doctor suggested psychiatric care.

Abby and Kyle arrive from San Francisco to take charge of the case. They see the woman and then go to eat at a restaurant. Then when they go back again she’s escaped. Abby runs after her and Kyle runs toward the doctor who’s been injured and his wife. After the Kyle and doctor’s wife help the
doctor with his injury, Kyle goes into the woods to find Abby who hasn’t returned.

The sheriff and deputy and others help Kyle search for Abby later that night and in the morning but they can’t find her. She and the girl have been abducted.

For the rest of the book Kyle searches for Abby through some terrifying places and Abby tries to escape and both meet some awful people. You’ll have to read it to see.

Will they escape? What will happen when and if they do? If they do will they be alright? Does the FBI ever fail?

This fascinating novel is unique and unbelievable!

Darkbright by Ty Hutchinson is quite the horror story. And it will leave you goggle eyed, short of breath and twitching at the slightest noise as your eyes dart about to see what noise you may have heard.
Ugh!
And for Abby Kane and Kang it started off so innocently in fact. They simply had to investigate a case of an unknown woman having been found in a remote area, able to only utter one word repeatedly... Darkbright.
Oh boy. And did that word start making sense later on! After that woman disappeared.
Phew!
Enjoy.

This is a fantastic follow on in Abby Kanes story. I was hooked right from the start and the fact it was more based around Kane and Kang made it more readable. The story can be read on its own but its good having read previous 18 to know the relationships and dynamics between everyone. It has so many twists but no spoilers read it for yourselves and see..........

This is the BEST Abby Kane book yet! I definitely didn't see the twists and turns until they popped up out of nowhere. Not only could I not put it down, I almost read the entire book in one sitting. It's just that good, and just that scary. I can't wait for the next installment!

I will start off by saying this was an absolute rollercoaster. From the beginning it hooks you and it just keep getting darker.
This is my first read from this author and wow. It made me squirm.
Culty, sick, twisted and fast paced.
I could not stop reading.

DarkBright

This series is going to make you lose a lot of sleep and wonder what the heck is going to happen in the next page. There are more twists and turns in this story, than in the place that it's happening! Good read! Gary 🇨🇦

When a woman stumbles out of the woods, battered and delirious, into the arms of a local deputy she can only repeat one word over and over... 'Darkbright'. FBI agent Abby Kane and her partner are called to investigate and Abby suddenly vanishes without a trace. Where did she go? What is Darkbright? Something incredibly sinister is going on.

This book is right on par with my favorite trope, weird town with a secret. I was immediately hooked from the start. We have multiple POVs, one of those POVs being FBI agent Abby Kane after she vanishes (I wont expand further to not spoil). What is going on in this town was so far outside what I expected and it was so thrilling to unravel the mystery. Hutchinson really threw me off with some of the twists and it was everything I could have asked for in a thriller.

Ty Hutchinson has done it again! Whilst the characters are familiar – Abby Kane and Kyle Kang of the San Francisco FBI field office, the story is vastly different to the usual investigative crime cases! It involves macabre mystery and brutality, with searches through local woods, corrupt local lawmen, capture and imprisonment of both Abby and Kyle and an underground maze called Darkside ruled by a character known as Father Dark. There is plenty of action by an army of thuggish security people and several surprising twists to the story that this reader did not see coming.
A well written yarn, shocking at times, but which actually sets the scene for the follow up of at least one of those surprise twists.

I received an advanced copy of this book. I am a long-time fan of the author and a super fan of Abby Kane. This book is a non-stop action story that will keep you breathless at times. Abby is thrust into a situation where up is down, and down is up. People are not who you think they are, and you do not know who you can trust. At the end of the story, there is a twist that is so unexpected that you will say, as I did, "boy, I sure did not see that coming". The ending will make you want to write the author and tell him to release the next book in this series as soon as possible. I strongly and enthusiastically recommend this book.

What starts as a woman who appears out of the woods becomes a tangle of bizarre things leading to a hidden "community" where selling organs is how you get blessed. When a small-town sheriff hands a case over to the FBI and our team of Abby and Kang are sent, what happens after keeps you reading from cover to cover. Is what they discover believable or just something that cannot be explained?
You have to read this mystery to find out.

Totally loved this one! Enough twists to keep you reading into the late hours. Enjoy Abbey and Kang operating in a totally different environment. Great writing, very descriptive, happy to see it will be a trilogy.
