Given how much I love the band and the album, it is perhaps unsurprising that I loved this book. But you don’t have to be a massive fan to enjoy the book. Ultimately it’s a group of people looking back at a journey that took them unexpected places, just taking a moment to look around and say, that sure was something! It’s a little reflective, a little frank, a little revelatory, all without wallowing in nostalgia.

The Tom Chaplin sketches throughout are oddly charming, the Richard Hughes drum notes are fascinating to this very non-drummer, and the Tim Rice-Oxley ephemera may take me years to fully decipher, but it all combines into a charming collection about a truly fantastic album.

As a fan of the band Keane, this book is invaluable. it provides insight into how the band came into existence and that not everything was immediately rosy. The book tells the story behind all the lyrics written for their debut album Hopes And Fears and each story is accompanied by anecdotes, notes, small drawings and photos, which makes the book interesting and fun to read. It really gives an insight into the early years of the band and makes me love their music even more (if that is even possible). Keane 's music is a big part of my life ...❤️

A fun read for fans of the band Keane. Some stories are told about the beginning of the band and their first album “Hopes and Fears”.

The interesting part about this book are the lyrics. After a page of lyrics of a specific song, one of the members of Keane goes on to explain what the song is about and the story behind it.

Only thing that would be better is if there were more stories about Keane during the last 20 years. Maybe some epic and untold stories from live shows etc.

It's SO BEAUTIFUL I could cry. You really get a great insight on what was going on at the time the record came out and how the band was formed, its beginnings, the meaning, the composition of the songs, and all the way until the recod came out. Reading the "chapters" of each song while listening to them really gives it a sense of magic and time travelling, I highly recommend it!!

Note: I would also LOVE to read a book like this about more of their albums (if not all of them)

Keane is my favorite band, and this was such a cool look at their origins and inspirations, and the stories behind their first album 20 years later. I loved all the notes and doodles that were included as well. Transcripts for the notes would have been nice, because some of them were difficult to decipher… but this is a must read for avid Keane fans.

I tried to slow down the reading as much as I could, but it's so beautiful written, each lyric and each comment from the band makes my heart warm It's a beautiful revisit of their history and the creation of their master piece, I simply loved so much, it was the best gift somebody could gave it to me ❤️

Lovely insights from my favorite band, about their beginnings and their long road to success. Hopes and Fears is an amazing album, and I loved reading their thoughts about the music and where they were in their lives when they created it.

One of the best albums of all time. I loved reading the anecdotes about each song and I obviously had to play each song while I read about it. Love Keane to bits. ❤️

A must for any Keane fan. Fantastic storytelling from each band member about how they came together and produced their first album Hopes and Fears. Lyrics from each song on the album is recorded in the book, along with the first notes and commentary from the band.
