I remember being very happy when I first saw this book at my local library. There weren't a lot of things (anything?) of mine that needed hiding, but the possibilities hinted at in the title excited me nevertheless.

This book did not live up to the awesome title, however. Mildly entertained, I don't remember learning much. You can hide things in public places, sure, but as for technique, or even addressing the question of why you would want to do this, the book never got there.

If you want to learn more about this, I would suggest you learn by doing. I wouldn't read this book. Try this: go somewhere, publicly, and hide something. Check back a week later. Is it still there? If not, try again.

First of all, I don't condone any of the negative behaviour "promoted" in this book. ("Promoted" in heavy quotations, because Dennis fiery and Loompanics loved using doublespeak).

I definitely enjoyed it as a read. I thought it was informative, and opened more of the world to me which I've always loved exploring. It makes public places feel more interesting, and these techniques can have non-malicious applications; Especially as I've found myself in positions where I have needed to store or cache something for later use, and or have had my hands full and just couldn't carry everything with me in one go.

It's a condensed and informative read. Go for it if you're interested in outdoor exploring. Don't be malicious.
