“As long as ye’re in my home, ye’re mine to guard. Mine to command. Mine to hold…”

Forced into marriage, Nora wishes for one last adventure...So she sneaks into the castle of the cruelest Laird in order to see a rare painting. Instead, she sees the Devil himself; and his heated gaze is far more dangerous than his sword...

Laird Kaiden's heart of ice starts to melt when he hears his son's voice again. But the bairn refuses to speak to anyone else other than the trespassing minx. So he has no choice but to keep her - only for a month. After she helps the boy find his words, she'll be free. But until then, she's Kaiden's to command...And he enjoys watching her come undone when she follows his orders.

*Highlander of Ruin is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.

No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.

Courage and Strength

Kaiden and Nora's story is very interesting.

Nora is to be married to an older laird for the attacks on her clans people to stop. She asks her brother for some time before she accepts her fate.

Nora sets out on an adventure to see a painting before returning to fulfill her duty, but gets caught while snooping.

Kaiden is raising his son Toby, alone after losing his wife due to a terrible winter storm. Toby once a happy verbal little guy, no longer speaks until Nora is caught sneaking and Toby speaks to her. Kaiden still deals with having failed his wife and now Toby.

Things get complicated as Nora must now stay and work with Toby to speak again. Toby likes Nora and engages on his terms with her while watching her paint. Sparks ignite between them, she betrothed. Her brother Jack shows up and more complications arise? Will things work out? Who will Nora marry?

Irritating heroine.

Nora’s brother Jack has arranged a marriage for her with an older, unkind laird, to stop a feud between the clans. She knows she must do her duty to her clan, but she wants one last adventure before she does. She snuck into the castle of Laird Aitken, Kaiden, to see a piece of art. Kaeden’s son hasn’t spoken since his mother died a year ago, until the boy finds Nora in the halls of the castle. Kaiden convinces Nora to stay for a time and help his son find his voice. Their attraction is strong but they are both strong willed and there are Enemies that want to keep them apart. I enjoyed the story. I found Nora irritating at times. I believe a woman can be strong without being belligerent, and immature, and obnoxious. That behavior takes away from the story in my opinion. I hope Jack’s story will be next.

It was interesting situation. I did like the relationship Nora had with Kaiden's family.

I liked how Nora & Kaiden both were able to admit they was something between them from the beginning.

I had fun banter & kind of a light humor for a bit more than the first third of the book & then I just got repetitive & fairly frustrating with a lot of them avoiding each other & them fighting for about 70 pages.

Although I was sad she didn't, I am glad he realize he mistakes & was able to talk to her & draw them together.

I loved how Nora & Kaiden saw the best in each other & were able to draw it out & help the other one see their potential

This captivating tale follows Nora, a feisty and sweet heroine, as she embarks on a final adventure before her arranged marriage to a cruel laird. With a dash of humor, intrigue, and tender moments, this story is a must-read. The dynamic between Nora and Laird Kaiden is electric, making it impossible to put down. A beautifully crafted plot with lovable characters, including the adorable Toby, will keep you enthralled until the very end. She decides that she will visit this place where a beautiful was. So she heads off. She arrives and she has to figure out how to see the painting. She gets into the castle and is looking at a painting when a small voice saying that is Father. Then a man says how did you get here. And did you hear what the young boy said.

a love worth fighting for

Nora and Kaiden’s relationship may have not started out as a love match, but the journey they traveled to get there was entertaining. Nora’s strong will to not be told what she should do brought a smile to my face. Both Nora’s and Kaiden’s characters showed what strong wills and devotion can do when love is involved . Lil Toby was the perfect catalyst to bring the two together. Highly recommend this book and look forward to author’s next book

Such strength in Nora as she seeks her freedom.

Eloise Madigan has a well written story of strength and love. Nora seeks freedom and Laird Kaiden seeks love for his son and himself of which they both find. There is another wanting revenge and therefore trials that Nora and Kaiden must navigate through. I loved reading this book and will read it again soon!

Powerful story of love found & won!

Gripping story of healing for young Toby of traumatic loss of his voice. A planned sneak into a castle to the finding of a chance at love; a tale that keeps you fascinated. Nora is a good combination of courage & strength. Kaiden is a worthy lead. Plenty of action & snappy interactions! What a fun time with my nose in a book!

Really enjoyed this story. Smooth writing style, nicely paced plot, engaging main characters, one nasty villain, numerous misunderstandings, and sexy moments. I haven’t read the first book in the series but given how much I liked this one it has been added to my TBR list. Very entertaining historical romance.

sneaky woman

Wow! Nora sure had a lot of courage to leave her home and sneak into another Laird’s castle. She was fun feisty and brave. It almost got her into trouble. Kaiden looked like a devil and acted like one to keep people from getting to close. Another great read.

An unusual adventure can lead to happiness.

This is a well written story that keeps one interested to the end. Most highlander stories have strong brave men and strong women and this one is no exception.

Kaiden and Nora's story

I disliked Harrison Scott Laird of clan Berkley because he was a cruel, power-hungry creep who was as old as dirt.
I liked how Kaiden and Nora fell in love.
I would recommend "Highlander of Ruin" to Lovers of Scottish Highland Historical Fiction.

The fun begins when Nora sneaks into Kaiden's castle to look at a painting. Toby is an adorable little boy. There is are some twists and turns to find out who the bad guy is. It all comes together nicely for a wonderful ending. The extended epilogue is a nice finish.
