What an absolute belter of a book!
I've been loving this series ever since the first paragraph, of the first book, and each book published in the series only gets better - but THIS book has jumped at least three steps higher!
From the first word, to the very terrifying last, I was totally fixated, wanting things to be better for poor Misty, in her search for a way to get the demon half-heart, off of her Family's Grimoire!
It didn't help that she and Arthur weren't exactly on talking terms now, but at least she still had those wonderful friends from the Crafting Circle to rely on.
But, when a group of creepy people turned up in town, showing far too much interest in anything Magic, but especially in a Witch of great Power, Misty knew that her time in Rosebud was going to end, and very soon.
In the meantime Daphne, the partial Druid, who worked part time in an animal rescue shelter, asked Misty to take on a stray dog that had turned up in the area, and was caught and handed in to the shelter.
As Misty actually needed some protection on the farm, due to a large band of Coyotes turning up in the area, she agreed, with Sawyer, her Familiar Cat's reluctant permission.
But, when she put away her pride, and asked for the help of those three wonderful Ladies of the Crafting Club, to form a five-pronged Hunting Spell, so that she could trace the Demon whose half-heart was attached to the Family Grimoire, and the Ladies immediately went over to her home, Fern, the Garden Gnome, recognised the Dog for what it was - and Misty's life became infinitely more complicated!
This book was a truly epic read.
There was so much packed into it, and I loved that the Ladies stood by Misty, especially after she told them the truth about her reason for being inng there - they are true friends, indeed!
But I'd better warn you - the last part of this book will have you sizzling, & terrified, at the same time! Lol
Arthur, our very favourite Lumbersnack, goes full on with Misty 'fffuuuueeeeeee!' lol
But, the book ended on a real, terrifying, cliffhanger but, fortunately, the fifth book in this series: 'Muddled Magic', is due to be published by the wonderful Author, Kat Healy, on 26th June!
I THINK I can hold on until then, to find out, if what I suspect is after her, has finally tracked her down!
Until then, I have thousands of eBooks to read - my neighbour downloaded 10,000 eBooks onto my External Hard Drive, the other day, while rescuing stuff off my demised old Laptop - but I'm actually going on to yet another of my favourite Author's newly published books, which is Book Two of her latest Beaufont, series which is called 'The First Beaufont', and the book is: 'The Lost Empress'.
I fell in love with Sarah's Beaufont family, and have followed them from the very first book, of the very first series: 'Unstoppable Liv Beaufont'.
But I first came across Sarah's work, when she co-authored a couple of series in the Kurtherian Universe, with Martha Carr, and Michael Anderle.
I've since read everything she's written, and I loved it all, but the Beaufonts are definitely my favourites, so, I'm going to finish this review of Kat Healy's equally amazing book, then, once I've finished 'The Lost Empress', I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!

It's now Tuesday, 11th February, 2025, and Ive just finished this re-read.
I'd forgotten how intense this fourth book of the Homesteader Hearth Witch series really is!
I've gone from melting heart sweetness, to abject terror, as I read it, and it certainly gave me an emotional workout! Lol
As usual, on this read through of what's becoming my all time favourite series, I looked for mentions of food and drink, and I certainly found some!
Being British, a lot of the dishes mentioned are either new to me, or I've only heard of them, never tasted them but, when Kat does release her Cookbook, I'm hoping that both the 'Better Than Sex', chocolate tray bake is in it, plus Shari's favourite comfort food, her: 'Tater Tot Casserole', is in there fore to try it out!
Now, as 'A Grimoire Grump' ended on a real cliff hanger, I'm going straight to read Book Five: 'Muddled Magic', to find out what happened next!
Once I have done, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of this re-read, especially as there's no gap in between the reading, as there was the first time around! Lol

It's now Monday, 21st April, 2025 - that's Easter Monday!
I've just finished my 3rd read of A Grimoire Grump', & loved it even more this time, than the previous 2 reads.
There's something really special, in being able to read the majority of a series one book straight after another and, though I'm still waiting for the final book, 'Twisting Twilight', to be published, I really don't mind, as the publication of the penultimate Book 9: 'A Filigree Key', was published at the end of March (28th), so I have that to 'officially' read for the first time! lol
but A Grimoire Grump' was truly a wonderful read, & I spotted little things that I really didn't have time to, on my 2nd read, so that was a true bonus for me.
But, I'm really eager to go on to Book 5: 'Muddled Magic', to see just how Meadow and her friends will deal with one surprise after another!
So, I'm off to start reading it, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know if I spot anything else new, that I missed before!
