Korolev Bratva #2

Ruthless Serenade

Rate this book
Who knew my accidental nudes would lead to this?
A six-year-old daughter who has his eyes.
And a dead man walking through my front door.

Seven years.
Seven years since those two pink lines changed everything.
Seven years since Maron Korolev vanished without a trace.
The palace that was my gilded prison? Empty.
The man who made me scream his name? Gone.

Or so I thought.

Because lately, I've been seeing ghosts.
A black car following me home.
A shadow that looks too familiar.
A silhouette that can't be real.

And now, here he is - standing in my doorway like death itself.
Same dangerous eyes.
Same ruthless energy.
Same power to bring my world crashing down.

But I'm no nude-sending naive girl anymore.
I'm a mother now.
And my daughter is all I have left to lose.
I will do anything to protect her...
Even if my naughty pictures become my obituary photos.

Probably one of the worst books I've read.
The male lead blames the fmc for miscarriage, continues to accuse her of cheating, treats her horrible, has a girlfriend of 2 years when they aren't together but the fmc isn't allowed to go on one date. Also the reason why they're separated for years is because the male lead is convinced the fmc betrayed him, then when he finds out the truth he doesn't go after her, doesn't apologize just keep living his Life
Very clear to me how much misogyny this author has, this male lead never apologized, never grovelled. It was until 80% into this book until he stopped treating her like shit, safe to say I'll never read another book from this author. And the fmc have no backbone at all

I can't believe I even made it through this book. I HATED both Maron and Mindy in this book. Maron was god awful to everyone, but especially Mindy. He didn't learn at all from his past mistakes and continued to make them. Mindy was a doormat and rolled over no matter how badly Maron treated her. Nothing like the couple in the first book. This whole book was unnecessary. There wasn't anything added that couldn't have been wrapped up with another 30 pages in the last book. Maron was an idiot with the side effects of the meds, his brother, the whole eva/rachel thing, and everything else. He didn't handle anything the way it should have been. Whole book was a dumpster fire. The only good thing was Sharon. She's adorable and deserves better parents.

I usually don't leave bad reviews but I couldn't pass with these two books. I'm leaving it on the sequel to avoid spoilers etc

So Ruthless Lullaby started out strong I quickly became immersed in it and then the ending left much to be desired. But book 2 is where it all went down hill.

At the end of book 1 he straight up walked in and couldn't even let "the love of his life" defend herself. He assumed again and left or told his men to get rid of her. While she was helping his brother who just tried to kill himself. Granted she used to date his brother Maurice but there had already been an misunderstanding at the coffee shop between the two that was made to look like she was together with him so like you would think hey maybe I need to hear her out ! Nopeeeee this is also after a miscarriage etc.

Book 2 Serenade: 7 years have passed and FC has a daughter who is MC kid. This part had me puzzled how does she have a kid when she had a miscarriage at the end of book 1?( I might need to go back and read but I don't recall any sex going down after the miscarriage except oral.) I guess it safe to assume they had sex during the weeks from the miscarriage to the launch.

Anyways back to book 2, she is a struggling single mother and that part was interesting but then guess what her new boss is hitting on her! I'll come back to this later and his wife basically knew and low key mad at her when she didn't do anything. Now back to the boss part she accidentally shows her nudes(again) but this time in front of a board. This leads to her boss calling her in his office to "speak" with her and we all know where this is going. She finally stands up for herself but like damn girl where was this all the other times he just came in your office dropping hints!

The 2 things that killed this book for me was the whole Rachel Anderson/Eva part and the ending.

The MMC is dating a woman named Eva in the beginning of the book and she is a twin spoiler alert her twin is Rachel who is a psychiatrist and basically tells Rachel her whole relationship troubles etc. MC doesn't like Eva like he did the FMC basically they just bumping uglies.

MC breaks up with Eva but guess what no she keeps coming around offering her body to him etc. What's the kicker is that her twin Rachel starts investigating MC and Eva was stealing his shit beforehand BUT GUESS WHAT Eva dies to the MCs drug he had in his office and Rachel starts to blame him and says she knows everything! AND HOW DOES SHE KNOW ALL OF THIS I MIGHT ADD?

two of her patients are Maurice(The MC brother and Alexis(the Fc sister) who are in therapy. So not only does she break patient confidentiality which is something that NEVER gets spoken about like oh hey y'all had the same Dr(which was brought up with Alexis) but let's ignore that and all but she uses this to kidnap the MC&Fm daughter!

The mc pays her anyways and gets the daughter back and plans to kill her but no wait THERES MORE the FMC tells him not to kill her and he doesn't and turns her over to the police.

THE FMC visits her in prison and forgives her because shes a twin too and was responsible for killing her twin in a car crash. I GET what the author was doing but did you or the MC ever sit and go how the heck did she know about the daughter, how did she know about Mindy? Even Eva brought Mindy up at dinner how tf did she know if it hadn't been Rachel? And Rachel knew cause of her patients! Like none of that is brought up or spoken about but we have to assume cus they both have Rachel in common as a therapist.

So like what happened to the 10 million he sent to save his daughter??
Oh and then the ending is rushed like they just fall back in love automatically. There's no real bonding moments between the daughter and the mc. No real progress between the couple that made me think they were a couple. It felt forced and then she ends up getting pregnant again. How was she able to get pregnant so easily when she supposedly in the first book had to have IVF? I get hey he has super sperm or whatever to get her pregnant not once but twice but a third time? At the ending of this book shes pregnant with twins?

Then she puts Maurice and Alexis together!!?

My review is all over the place but so was this book. It left much to be desired, I was waiting on some real depth and actual progress with this story but it never came.

Korolev Bratva books 1 & 2

First time reading this author. I liked what the story could have been but I don't understand why you're calling it a "Bratva" book. Very little about being head of his Russian families Bratva. No men that provided protection or any true situations that would show him as a leader of anything but his media corp. Yes it mentioned illegal organ trade but even that was truly off. Putting a kidney on a ship from Russia to New York and not flying it to it's destination when they have up to 48 hours to preserve it. He owned a private jet right? And this is the first Bratva book I've ever read ( I've read probably 300+) different Mafia/Bratva books that the Pakhan or Don goes all over without any men to protect him. No security at his mansion or office. It just didn't read as a Mafia/Bratva book. If he was the most feared man in the city, where were his soldiers? He had his second in command and a scientist in Russia and two brothers. Story line was scattered and repetitive. Characters were okay could have been so good but just didn't seem real or connected. Bounced around from one subject to another then back again. Maron and Mindy could have been amazing if their story line stayed on track. People died then the story just went into what happened weeks and months later without any follow up except missing them. This had such a great could have been truly amazing but lost its appeal very quickly in book one and book two followed the same way. Sorry for the long review but it's just one person's opinion. Just not what it could have been.

"Ruthless Serenade" by Lisa Lovell delivers an electrifying conclusion to the Korolev Bratva duet, blending dark romance, danger, and heart-wrenching emotion. Picking up seven years after the explosive events of Ruthless Lullaby, this book doesn’t waste a moment diving back into the complicated, fiery dynamic between Maron Korolev and his former lover Mindy.

The story revolves around the aftermath of a fateful reunion: Maron reappears in Mindy's life after years of silence, only to find out he’s the father of a six-year-old daughter. The stakes are higher than ever, as the heroine balances her protective instincts as a mother with her unresolved feelings for the man who left her world in ruins. The chemistry between the characters remains as electric as ever, with their steamy interactions perfectly contrasted by moments of vulnerability and trust.

The book excels in delivering a high-octane narrative full of twists, suspense, and danger. Maron’s return isn’t without consequence, and Lovell masterfully intertwines the couple’s passionate reunion with the gritty, unforgiving reality of mafia life. Mindy’s strength and resilience shine throughout, making her a compelling counterbalance to Maron’s domineering presence.

While "Ruthless Serenade" provides a satisfying conclusion, it’s crucial to read "Ruthless Lullaby" first to fully appreciate the depth of the characters’ journey and the intricate world of the Korolev Bratva. Fans of dark, high-stakes mafia romances will find this duet an addictive, unputdownable experience.

Maron Korolev believes that both his half-brother Maurice and Mindy have betrayed him. Leonid Shirkova blames Maron for his daughter’s death and shoots him.

It is now seven years since that horrible night. Mindy saw the news reports that Maron was fatally shot that night. She now works for Visionary Media. Her six-year-old daughter Sharon just started school at Willow Heights Elementary and she looks just like her father Maron. Sharon is Mindy’s miracle child. Mindy is struggling between work and being a single mom.

Maron did not die seven years ago. He has been basically keeping a low profile and only a few people know he is alive. He has been dating Eva for about two years. She is pushing him for a commitment and is constantly quoting things her twin sister Rachel, who is a psychiatrist, tells her. Maron breaks up with Eva because he still constantly thinks of Mindy.

Neither Maron nor Mindy could forget about each other. Both of their lives were a tangled mess throughout this story. I loved the ending.

Ruthless Serenade is the final book in the Korolev Bratva Series which begins seven years after the night of the Tramoxine party where Mindy was removed from the hotel after Maron finds her cradling the unresposive Maurice. Maron is shot and publicly presumed deceased after Maurice failed to deliver the needed kidney for the other Mafia don's dying daughter. Mindy finds she is pregnant after Maron's death and now has a six year old daughter, Sharon, who she struggles to raise as a single working mother. Mindy, however, begins to see Maron's car at various locations and she is suspicious he may still be alive. The intriguing ending to this emotional duet has unexpected plot twists, secrets, angst, revenge, jealousy, danger, complex relationships, and sizzling chemistry. I highly recommend this well written and unique Bratva romantic duet.

Ruthless Serenade is is the second part of this amazing sequel. It gripped me in from the very first page. To read how Maron and Mindy ended up getting together makes me laugh.

These two had quite a steamy go at it In The first part which ends in tragedy.

As this part starts, it's 7 years later. Maron is alive and well. They both still live in the same area but haven't run into eachother until now. Maron ends up seeing Mindy as she's on a date and she starts to think about him when she sees a car like the one he used to drive. There's a few times one of them sees the other or thinks they might've seen the other. These two are like destined to be together. Every horrible thing that happens or gets thrown at them, they fight, break up but still can't get the other out of their minds. I definitely loved this duo and I'm sure you will too!

4.5 Stars!! The second book in this duet fast forwards seven years. Mindy has been doing the best she can as a single mom. That's right, she now has a beautiful little girl who steals the show in this book. Mindy thinks Maron died but when she starts seeing glimpses of someone who looks like him, she wonders if what she was told was true. Is he alive? If so, he has missed the first six years of his daughter's life. How will he take it? When they by chance meet, he can seem to forget her. There are a couple of good twists in this book that keep you reading to the last page. Good mafia romance.

I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.

Woman demonstrates profound ability to provide a doormat for her lover

The author tells us repeatedly that the FMC has a spine. One of the first rules of writing fiction is “show me, don’t tell me”. No where in the novel does she show she has any dignity, nor does she demonstrate “having a spine”. She should be dressed in coir , to provide surer footing for her lover to wipe his shoes on. There is no reason for this second novel, it could have been summarized in another chapter or two in the first novel. Spoiler alert: for some reason, they end up back together. Now you don’t have to suffer through this trash.

This is the second book in the duet which certainly ended with a bang. So good!

After 7 years of being home presumed dead, Maron returns to find Mindy and that she has his child.

Suspense was ramped up in this one. Mindy had grown into herself well she had to with him gone and not knowing why. But I enjoyed the dynamic of him trailing her and working out when to come back.

Very well done I am loving these books and the fine suspense that is in offer. The mix of characters and the amazing plot make this an amazing read. Highly recommended!!

Better than the first book…

Still, this gave me the icky factor. She slept with both brothers. And then her sister ended up with the first one. This was way too incestuous for me.

Regardless they were apart for seven years and she had their daughter. Too much time apart. And he had that girlfriend, Eva or Eve, with the sister Rachel. Who was whack. He thought about Mindy but he never went looking for her. He had that “jump to conclusions” thing still. I didn’t like him.

Not a favorite at all. KU read.

This is Korolev Bratva - Book Two of the Duet.
It starts 7 years after the first book.
Which is a bit confusing and left me trying to catch up with the storyline but the author does explain things to you in time.
No spoilers from me but I'll say there is more drama and some twists. The steaminess is still up there and there is a HEA in the end.
All in all a good duet and worth the time to read it.

Book two of this series starts 7 years after the dramatic ending of Ruthless Lullaby with Maron presumed dead and Mindy raising their daughter. This story has so many twists and turns you will be left sitting on the edge of your seat as you watch Mindy and Maron try to find a way back together despite the danger that surrounds them. This is an amazing series that will have you hooked from beginning to end.

Very drawn out

Just like the first book, this was was very drawn out and she over explained every single thing multiple times. It was very repetitive and honestly I ended up skimming over most of it. Between the two books it was a good story but could have been much better if it was shortened up into one book without all the repetitive nonsense. It was a difficult book to finish.

Sorrow

There was no surprises in this book. Not anywhere. The main focus was their seven year journey.
Marin journey was not much if a journey. He never changed his identity or the work he did. No mention of the Russian Bratva finding out he's alive.
I was proud of Mindy. She was a true mother in every sense I'd the word.

What happened with her job? What happen with the medication.

This book was soo good!!

After the last one was left on a cliffhanger I really wasn’t sure how their story was going to work out but omg was this so great. It was a slow burn with so much longing especially from Maron and then once they rekindled things they were honestly unstoppable and I love it so much. This one was great and I will definitely be reading other books from this author ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Okay... there was no need for 2 books

I was going to give this book a 2-3 star cause the length of this book was ridiculous...unnecessary chapters...well written don't get me wrong..but tooooo long... but then Sharon says this: "How did you come down from the sky?"😭😭😭😭
There is more to this convo between dad and daughter it was just too darn precious...that's why the 4⭐️ but... they were both so annoying the mc's...omfg...annoying over the top.. but good ending

Maron finally sees the full picture.

This is book two of the Korolev Bratva duet and I absolutely loved this story. Mindy and Maron both have certain things that they believe. Mindy thinks Maron is dead and Maron still believes Mindy betrayed him. It's been seven years and it seems fate has a sense of humor after all and brings these two back together for another chance at a HEA.

worst book I have ever read / don’t waste your time.

This is one of the worst books I’ve ever read, this book was all over the place. The characters were nothing, the MMC was acting like a horny 16 year old, not a bratva boss, as for the FMC I am so disappointed, thank god she isn’t real. She was doormat, had no self respect. Save yourself the time and not read this book. There are so many other books that are worth your time and attention.

Great read

Wow! Maron and Mindy had quite a bit in their lives to get to the HEA. So many times I wanted to slap Maurice and Alexis in the first book but, they redeemed themselves in this book. The only thing that I would of liked to see more was mafia action. All in all, it wad a good read.

Absolutely fantastic book!

Korolev Bratva Book 2 is incredibly well written with storylines and characters that will stay with the reader long after the last page is completed. There’s nothing I love more than a happily ever after and Lisa Lovell doesn’t disappoint! This book is wonderful!

Wow what a way to start book 2 in this duet. I couldn't stop reading. Mindy has been through so much and is still the strong female she has always been. Bringing up a daughter on her own whilst battling everyday life was challenging. Then a ghost reappears and their chemistry is still off the chart🌶️🌶️. They all get the happily ever after they wanted. Another great read.

From Depressing to happiness

Unfortunately three quarters of the book was depressing. This could have had all the action it had without Maron having crazy fits and Mindy not telling her side of things. It just made an extremely difficult situation with no resolve till near the end and also I don’t like cliffhangers and all I can say is give me the condensed version next time.

Part 2 of this story

Wow... after the cliffhanger in the last book, this book picks up 7 years later. MMC made me so mad because he acted like a idiot. He wasted so much time because of his ego. The FMC was too easy to forgive for my liking. However, it has HEA for all the characters. It's differently worth the read!

This book was amazing thru and thru. I loved how even after all they been thru. They got their happy ending. Maurice and Alexis. Who would of thought two sisters married two brothers. Would of been a happy ending not to mention the best friend dating her besties Brother in law. It's happy ending that was went to be.

Forgiveness and redemption was evident in this story. One’s struggle is now their blessing. Mother death bed wishes is coming true. Two down one more to go. Friendship restored. Truths being shared. Love built on faith, respect, compassion, commitment, stability, and family always first Hats off to author Lovell.

I Really Wanted To Love It

I really wanted to love the second installment to this series, but it is a hard no for me. The first book was pretty good and had me hooked the entire read. This one dragged on for most of the book then became unrealistic and rushed with just about scenario that was at play.

The second half of this story pulls you in right from the start? It’s 7 years later and Maron is alive and well. More twists and turns , intrigue, revenge, jealousy but most of all second chances and sizzling chemistry. Enjoy
