Cinque stelle strameritate.
The board game from hell has a trunk...and that has an evil Yokai trapped inside called The Fairy Tale Card. That Yokai possess Brella Boy and in doing so Momo is injured.
"Those blackheads don't stand a chance against him. As a Yokai 'Brella Boy is no pushover"
One of the best parts of this series is its ability to introduce so many new characters and have their histories and emotions touch your heart so deeply. Zuma’s backstory has to be some of the best writing in Dandadan and I hope we get to see a lot more of him.
Okay, I really like Zuma. The tragic backstory definitely felt like it was forcing my heartstrings to be pulled, but I do like everything coming back around.
Now why the fuck would this man hurt me this way? That’s rude as fuck 😭 I was here, enjoying this current arc of the story, and then BAM. The mangaka slaps me with some angst out of nowhere. Warn a woman, would ya?!
I’m once again validated in why I liked Zuma 🥺 That’s actually my son, and I would protect him with my life! GET BEHIND ME! Life has been way too unfair to him 😭 Losing his father to overwork, his brother to an accident, his mom to suicide…baby can’t catch a break! The only break he’s caught is an adult found his troubled self, and he decided to help him and be there for him as best as he could 🥺 YOU BETTER TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY BABY!
Anyway. I guess I’m forced to say the story continues taking on an interesting turn 🥺 I was surprised by the entity that was stuck in the wicker basket and turned out to be trying to manipulate them to win the board game, so he could be free 😔 I’m just bummed out with everything with Zuma. The story is great tho!
Tasu-sensei strikes another heavy note with this one. Continuing on from the battle where Okarun and company entered the board game, to rescue Momo and Zuma. However, the board game was revealed to be a Fairy Tale Card (FTC) yokai who had designed the objects of the game to actually destroy the barriers containing him. An epic battle then ensued with FTC possessing Zuma. Rokuro and the cop from issues before suddenly appeared for some reason and the battled continued. But with Zuma possessed, his powers soon appeared to be a match for everyone until Okarun managed to free his orb and resort back to Turbo Okarun.
The remainder of the volume delved into the backstory of Zuma which was introduced through flashback sequences after the cop revealed he knew Zuma from before this incident. The backstory for Zuma hits pretty deep in the feels and I'd say exceeds the flashback sequence for Acrobatic Silky yokai in volumes (3 or 4?)
I wish these came out sooner but man these volumes do a great job of alternating between action, comedy, horror, and a good dose of heavy drama.
Zuma is precious and must be protected at all costs.
This series somehow gets better and better with each volume release, even (or especially) when I’m reading it with tears in my eyes. Just some amazing, high quality manga right here.
Space Globalist Arc was the shift that I so desired in the story.
A major plus point is how seamlessly every story arc is bleeding into the next. Narrative is no longer disjointed & partitioned like it initially was. The plot, setting, and characters work together like a well-oiled machine now, creating a more holistic storytelling experience
The only downside is that there are way too many characters in the gang now. I think it's time to split them up lest some get deprived of the much needed spotlight.
Dandadan is peak fiction. AND NOW PEAK FICTION HAS A FUCKING ANIMEEE. But finally caught back up to the manga n whatttt dandadan acc can't stop being the best most randomest story everrr, n the fucking TITLE DROPP
