Liam Quinn and fiancee Nora Garcia de Soria make a grand comeback in L. H. Thomson's, "Quinn Gets The Blues", the fifth book in this Quinn series. (Book 4 "Quinn And The Vanishing Bride", was a real letdown) Before Rock-n-roll, there were the BLUES. Philadelphia, the birthplace of Rock-n-roll was a natural extension of the Blues. 81 Year old Blue's legend Lonny Walters has been reduced to playing dive bars in Jersey for next to nothing pay. Unfortunately for Lonnie one night after his third set he gets two bullets pumped into the back of his head while on a smoke break behind "Jersey Jack's nightclub. Jersey Jacks is a real pit. The last stop of the blues circuit in Philly/ South jersey dive bars and loser venues. The Cops in no hurry to investigate this shooting quickly charge Lonny's best friend for the past 35 years, Grady Brooks. Grady swears he didn't pull the trigger killing Lonny. One of Lonny's many daughters from several women, Dr. Summer Guillame wants Grady cleared and real killer flushed out. Dr. Guillame, a thoracic surgeon along with her fiancee Clinton Dufresne hire Quinn to crack the case. Detective Vincent Fiorelli, once a Philly cop, and now Camden homicide investigator wants Quinn nowhere near his case. "Snooks" Hamlin, Lonny's best blues harp player explains to Quinn that Lonny's poverty act of several decades is not true. Lonny has a "NestEgg" hidden somewhere. After Lonny dies and his will gets read everyone will know where nestegg is and how sizable it really is. There are a whole host of nasty characters wanting in on Lonny's nestegg. Snooks son, Jerry Kleft (local loan shark and pawn broker), Irma Reid who claims to have married Lonny in Wichita Kansas from 1969-77, Snooks himself, and the band's drummer Fred "Downtown" Davis. When dirty cop, Inspector Marty Glanz, who runs a collection racket of south Jersey's dive bars and clubs brakes Quinn's rib, Liam knows he has to figure out who Lonny's killer is and fast. With a whole host of seedy characters and lots of action in very bad neighborhoods, this book is a very nice pickup in quality from last book in series. All the witty and direct dialog is back, and Nora is featured more often for Quinn's benefit. Quinn also has his family to rely on more than previously. I do admit I didn't guess the actual killer until that person was uncovered in book. My suspect all through the book was innocent. That's fun when writer can disguise real killer from the reader until the end.. Back up to four stars out of a possible five stars for author L.H. Thomson'd. "Quinn Gets The Blues". So far the first five books in this series have been exceptional. Well worth getting into first book of series and following Liam's and Nora's adventures investigating in Philadelphia. "Youse" will love it I'm sure.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🔰

Another will written murder mystery adventure thriller romantic relationship novel five Liam Quinn Mysteries. Quinn is asked to investigate a murder by the number one suspect's daughter. Another murder occurs with Quinn being a suspect. It all comes together with the murder being arrested. I would highly recommend this series to readers of mysteries novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening as do. 2022 😄👒

Not a bad story at all. It is especially good if you really appreciate the old Blues players. It is also not bad as a detective story if you don't mind all the Blues players getting in the way and the insurance investigator spending so much time explaining how things worked.

Great book and story! Excellent writer all the way around!
One thing that I don't care for is this is the second book that repeats the same 7 to 10 pages twice. Someone needs to do a better job editing the book. Otherwise it's a great book to read!

It should br evident how much I enjoy the Quinn series by how quickly I get through a book. But please, get a proofreader. The typographical errors are a distraction.
