First published in 1984, and now in its new full-color sixth edition for 2013, the book Are You Saved? will introduce you what has been termed one of North America's best-kept the ancient Orthodox Christian faith and its living experience of salvation in Christ. As taught over the two thousand year history of the Orthodox Christian Church and explained here in modern terms by Barbara Pappas, salvation is not a one-time, once-and-for-all event. It is instead a lifelong process of becoming whole and complete, one that leads the practicing Christian into an ever-deepening awareness of adoption by God through His grace. All proceeds from the sales of the English version of Are You Saved? go to the translation of the book into global language, all of which are available for FREE download from anywhere in the world at our companion website, orthodoxareyousaved.org. The website also features a multimedia collection of introductory information on Orthodox Christianity worldwide and near your home. " As soon as real faith begins, the believer actually begins to experience God s kingdom while still on earth ... Inching our way upward through the joys and pitfalls of life, the narrow gate into the fullness of the glorious Kingdom of God is our destination. We are put on this road at Baptism, with our eyes fixed on our Savior. The Holy Spirit lovingly nudges us along throughout our lives at a pace determined by our love and faith. The tools provided by the Church help us along the way, with sincere repentance and the Sacrament of Confession renewing us and putting us back on the road when we stray" (Are You Saved?, pg. 48).
Worth reading if you are interested in the perspective of orthodoxy. Recommended to Protestant readers inquiring EO.
Only 50 pages so I’ll keep it very brief. Salvation is a lifelong process in EO. Not a one time confession of faith, but belief in being saved means “growing in sanctification by trying to live in obedience to Christ to prove my faith and love which also prepares me for life in Heaven.” (p.32)
I was saved I am saved I am being saved I will be saved
May the Holy Spirit guide you to the truth ☦️
