Brett and Shane are just two coworkers sent to an out-of-town conference to launch their company’s latest software app. But when a flight delay leaves them stranded for an extra night, forcing them to share a hotel room, what started as casual banter over beers takes an unexpected turn. Shane always knew he was different but never acted on his desires. As the two men explore new boundaries, Shane finds himself wrestling with emotions he can’t ignore, torn between desire and the need to protect his heart.
In this steamy MM novella, the men explore their urges together, navigating uncharted and complex waters of friendship, bisexuality, and a few other surprises along the way. Brett and Shane are about to discover that life is about experiences and that sometimes the most unexpected situations are the ones worth extending—just like their hotel stay.
Warning: This novella contains explicit sexual content between two men.
It was alright though the title didn’t make sense in the end because Brad was the one doing all the breaking. The writing was mostly okay and the writer clearly had a vision but most of the smut contained repetitive scenes and was unnecessarily dragged out.
This is an awakening and an experimentation. It is a well-told, cute story
Brad and Shane collaborate and travel together to attend a conference where they will unveil a new application on which they collectively worked. Together, they present a pitch to the attendees at the conference. They demonstrate a remarkable synergy at the conference booth, showcasing the app's numerous capabilities. It is evident that, despite being colleagues for several years and sharing numerous memories, a considerable amount of unspoken narratives exist concerning their personal lives outside of work.
Brad is recovering from a recent breakup, and following the conference's conclusion, weather-related delays impede their flights, necessitating an additional day's stay at the venue. The only available accommodation is a room with one queen-sized bed. Although the situation creates some awkward moments, they navigate through them. Each confesses personal thoughts as they emerge from their respective showers, modestly attired in towels. They reveal their preferences for solitude in their homes and share certain urges.
Shane initiates the first move, with Brad following suit; however, there remains a boundary that Brad is unwilling to cross. This dynamic introduces tension as they become increasingly aware of one another, ultimately leading to a decisive halt.
This marks my first exposure to Egan Sheridan's writing, and I find his style quite appealing. The narrative does not employ alternating points of view; instead, it offers an intimate portrayal of how inner emotions are articulated, alongside a profound recognition of their reception.
I highly recommend this novella due to its engaging storyline, refined writing, and an inclusive plot. The author utilizes some essential elements of MM Romance novels, and the cover art is commendably executed. As promised in the expanded title, there are also some very steamy moments.
The story was such a great exploration of the desires and fantasies of two men, coworkers and friends, who get to know each other and themselves on a sexual level. The story examines sexuality and the fluidity of male sexuality and same sex attraction and curiosity. Wonderful short read. I love Egan, I always enjoy his stories.
Breaking Brad is a great story of experimentation and living in the moment. I smiled, laughed, sighed over remembered feelings, and felt the uncertainty and fears the characters experienced.
That was a bittersweet read, spicy enough (with foot fetish if anyone fancies that) but the story was quite depressingly sad towards the end. The title was also misleading, Brad did the breaking and used poor Shane
So I wasn't happy with the ending and that made me sad but it was good I just feel things could have been different and I wish they would of been together
Quick, cute and easy to get through. I liked the concept and the dynamic between them, especially the forced proximity. The audio threw me off a little with some weird pronunciations, which honestly made me laugh at times. Overall a fun little novella, nothing groundbreaking but a good palate cleanser.
