Abraxas's Kismet

Rate this book
Abraxas serves his community as a county sheriff and protector. Everyone knows him in the small town of Needles, California. For him, being a protector isn’t anything new. He’s been one for centuries. Something the good people of Needles are unaware of.

He has a fulfilling job and a group of great friends who know him, and he knows them. He should be happy, but he and his friends hide a secret, and all lack a critical thing—a mate. And in their world, it’s almost impossible to find a mate, especially when their various species are dying off. It’s an unrealistic dream.

Cerys is a nurse who moves to Needles to be closer to her grandmother, Twyla, and escape Las Vegas and her parents. She notices the handsome, stoic sheriff, but she’s unable to flirt or talk to him like she can other men. Her excuse is she wouldn’t be his type anyway.

After months of hidden longing for them both, they finally reveal their feelings. Only Abraxas is hiding his biggest secret. He wants Cerys desperately, but if he commits to her, there goes his chance of having a fated mate and children. Cerys is human, and they can’t bear shifter offspring. After misunderstandings, revelations, meetings with Oracles, and more, they’re on their way to a life together. Abraxas chooses Cerys as the one he loves and will have no matter what he has to give up.

Only there’s more than fate involved. A hidden enemy is revealed and threatens all shifters and the Sentinels of Apollo, the protectors of shifters of which Abraxas, his friends, and others are a part.

Cerys and Abraxas will battle ancient enemies, Oracles, and even a god if they have to in order to be together. But even they have no idea what will be revealed. Abraxas’s Kismet is set to change the shifter world forever.

An avid reader with a passion for romances that finally got the chance to write one of her own. The rest is history. Not what anyone thought for someone who has been a nurse and in healthcare management for years.

I sit writing as my two fur babies, my pugs Kujo and Khaos, impatiently wait for me to get done so they can lay on me as their human sofa!

My children are finally considered to be adults, so it's me, the hubby and the dogs.

I'm a iced tea drinking fiend who has insomnia, more ideas than I know what to do with, and a need to write them down.

Not too bad for a girl from rural Ohio in the foothills of Appalachia that grew up in a town of about 4000 people.

Sentinels of Apollo

I love Ciara St. James' books, but this being her first paranormal book, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, loving Ciara books I should have known she'd nail this genre too!!! I'm so excited for more in this adventure with Nikki Landis!

Ever since Ciara St. James said she was writing a PNR book I could not have been more excited. The fact that she is one of my go to authors writing one of my favourite genres was the cherry on top of the cake! Basically she writes it I’m going to read it and I don’t care.

I love that this book was her branching out from her normal MC/ mafia books that she’s been writing. Knowing she has more planned in this series makes me extremely excited.

She didn’t just do the typical shifter book where they’re wolves- she added many different ones into it and going further I cannot wait for each of them to get their own books. I found this to be very interesting and it left me wanting more!

I loved the relationship between Abraxas and Cerys and the fact that the both of them fought the attraction they both felt for each other. Neither wanted to admit that they had feelings for each other until after an encounter at the bar. Abraxas wanted Cerys even though she was human and knowing he was giving up his chance at having offspring.

The fact that Nightstalker knew things before Abraxas did was the best- his commentary left me laughing more than once! He definitely knows what was happening before Abraxas ever clued in! Cerys is definitely the perfect match for the both of them with her sass and unwillingness to let Brax get away with things.

The fact that she also pulls in Greek Mythology with Apollo was amazing because I always love things like that added into books! I cannot wait to see how he appears in the other books as the series continues. I loved that she brought together history, myths and legends while writing this book.

Fantastic

Ciara St James for your first PNR, you did an excellent job. This book was exceptionally well written. Congratulations on another fantastic book. I loved the combination of all the different types of shifters and a vampire and then the Greek mythology it all fit together perfectly. I can't wait to read more and watch them all find their own mates. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

A surprising paranormal romance

This is book one in the sentinels of Apollo and yes there are some cool Greek mythology references that join the storyline. I enjoyed the crossover and references from the both the RBMC and Devil’s Murder MC. Those were jewels. This book is the start of a beautiful relationship between a human female nurse named Cerys Morgan and a Deputy Sheriff Abraxas, wolf shifter. Now both of our lead characters are strong and good in their respective professions so they have been doing this dance around each other for a minute too long. There comes a point where they cannot stand it anymore and Abraxas asks Cerys out on a date and she says yes! Even Cerys’ grandmother Twyla is celebrating these two finally pulling their head out of the sand. Next, the plot twist thickens, because in this world that our author created, we find out that these shifters are dying out due to fertility issues. In this world, shifters have to mate with like shifters; It is problematic for our new couple right because Cerys is human and Abraxas is a wolf. There is a happy ending for now, but the overarching storyline continues in book two. Read On!

This was CSJ's first foray into paranormal romance and it was so fun! Abraxas and his friends are sentinels, the police of the supernatural community. He and his brethren are shapeshifters and live very long lives. The problem is that they need their fated mates in order to have offspring. With so few of them around, the chance of finding your mate is small which is causing their population to dwindle. Having almost given up, Brax is immediately attracted to a new lady in town, a nurse and the granddaughter of a very colorful local resident. He fights his attraction as long as he can but Cerys is just perfect. Since she is human, he knows he is giving up his chance at children but his heart and his other half, the wolf know she is the one for them. There is a lot of world building, since it is the first book but it doesn't feel overwhelming. We learn things at a good pace and the characters are incredibly easy to love. With Greek mythology sprinkled throughout, I was a very happy reader. I am so excited to see where this new series goes!

I’ve got one word to say about this book, YES! It is a great book and its bring together a lot of past history, and Myths, and Legends.
The characters in this story are both looking for love, companionship. They are both others, and are drawn to each other, their story is sweet and understanding then it becomes hot and sexy. They form a bond so deep that even the GODS approve of it by letting them have children, and making it possible for the other shifters to have hope that they might also be able to find their true mates.
They have an ancient trouble that is trying to wipe them out but they all come together in their town and will protect everyone that means anything to them.
In the end it is love that brings everyone together and starts the hope of a future for them all.

Never Ending

Oh my am I excited beyond belief, Ms. Ciara, you have blown my world wide open with Brax and Cerys. This book is absolutely amazing and it being your first shifter story it makes me want more.

Brax and Cerys, has found a love and bond that not many see. This love will create a world of good to deal with the trouble that is coming their way.
Brax was ready to give up his dream of a mate. While Cerys thought that she was meant to be alone for the rest of her life. Neither could handle the attraction that was felt between them.

To sat that I lived his book is an understatement, its plot was well thought out. The plot and the characters worked absolutely perfect together. I love the way that the characters worked together and the banter between them.

First time reading this author. I'm sure it won't be the last.
Cerys is a nurse at the hospital in Needles, California, and Brax is a county sheriff there. Sorry that cracked me up because I've been there before. Ok, so I liked the story, and the paranormal twists were great. I thought it was really interesting how the shifters were all different but got along like family. This one pretty much had it all action, drama, romance, a little bit of humor, and some fun banter. It was nice to see some of the Murder Crow MC, too. I'm really looking forward to reading about Royal. I mean, come on, he's a, oops, almost gave it away.

Abraxas's Kismet is book 1 in the Sentinels of Apollo new series written by the amazing author Ciara St.James. This first installment is all about Cerys and Abraxas. Abraxas "Bras" Christou is the county sheriff of the town of Needles, California and a shifter. Cerys is a nurse in the emergency room at the hospital in Needles and a human. The chemistry is off the charts with these two. There are sparks flying left and right. A great start to a new series, full of drama, action, danger, secrets, ancient enemies, awesome characters ( loved the grandmother, Twyla ), small town, romance and more. I truly didn't want this book to end. Highly recommend!! I can't wait for more of this series.

True Mates!!

This is a new series and new genre for Ciara, and I think she did excellent. Shifter books aren't my normal go-to, but if Ciara writes it, I read it and have never been disappointed. Brax had mostly given up on finding his mate when he met Cerys. Never thinking he'd find love in a human, he was surprised to realize he had fallen hard for Cerys and decided he didn't need to find his mate. Well, Cerys has a few surprises for Brax that even she didn't fully understand or know about. This book was a wonderful read can’t wait for the next book.

first in a new series!!

I’m so glad Ciara St James decided to add paranormal to her portfolio!! Abraxas is a great character, a perfect match to Cerys and he totally rocks as one of Apollo’s Sentinals! We meet the main crew in this book & I have to admit I have my favorites already & can’t wait for the rest of the series.
If you love shifters, Greek mythology and a lot of really awesome spice, you need to check out this book. Ciara knocked her first paranormal book right out of the park!

Brax's mate

I enjoyed this book very much. It's the first in a new series and also the first paranormal one that Miss St James has written. Brax is a shifter that, as his friends, has lost hope that he'll find his fated mate. Then in came Cerys. I liked her because although she is young, she's mature for her age. Just wanted to smack some sense into her when she kept running away from Brax. I am curious how the plot regarding the enemy will develop in the next books. Can't wait to read them.

Great start to new series of shifters, vampires and gods.

Costa St James has done it again, she has created a intricate world of humans, shifters, vampires and gods in this new series of the paranormal. The detail and thought that has gone into this story brings to life a world that readers will find hard to put down. We have action, intimacy, laughter and suspense at every turn giving the reader lots of food for thought. Get on board and experience a story you will not easily forget or put down. Thanks again Ciara for the good time! Peace out.

Love this NEW shifter series by Ciara St James. Abraxas (Brax) is a wolf shifter in a small town. Cerys is a nurse & end up leaving the big city to be closer to her Grandma. Cerys finds a nursing job there in Needles. She’s instant attracted to Brax. He feels absolutely the same but is hesitant to do anything because she’s a human. Cerys learns about the shifter community & how desperate they’re in need of finding mates so they don’t become extinct.

Don’t hesitate to read this new series. It’s unique & entertaining. I can’t wait for the others to find their happily ever after.

Really enjoyed this PNR

This book was a great start to a new PNR series. This author knows how to tell a story. And to find there was a connection to another series of unique characters made it all the more interesting. This is a story of finding love when you thought it wasn’t going to happen for you. I love all the characters especially the grandmother. She is a a woman who knows and speaks her mind.

GREAT series start..

This book is a brilliant start for this new series from Ciara St James. Loved the main characters, but the supporting cast was as good! Together they laid the foundations of what i am sure will be an epic series. Plenty of smiles and laughs came from me as I read this book, the steam my parts were very hot with the danger bits skillfully weaved. Cannot wait to read the next in this series..

Ciara has shifters!

Ciara the addition of shifters to your lineup is a great change. The story was well laid out and moved along. I'm on pins and needles for the next. Fellow readers this book will keep you excited for the next page. P.S. did the Sentinels use Irene's phone to try to locate the others? The the tech in me asking.

A phenomenal beginning to a new series!

Abraxas and Cerys shouldn’t work, but they do. A shifter and a human. The love they find in each other is far greater than their differences and as they spend more time together they begin to understand their connection. We are introduced to Abraxas’s friends and I can’t wait for their stories.

Abraxas’s Kismet by Ciara St James

This is the first book of this genre for this author. It is Brax and Cerys’s story. Brax and his friends are all shifters. Shifters are dying out as they have many problems having children. Brax knows that Cerys is his mate but he fights against it. There is much drama and many complications but they get their HEA.

Entirely too long, convoluted and corny. The H is a 400! year old wolf shifter. His body count alone is a massive turn-off. Add to that endless characters, shifter explanations, history lessons and misunderstandings and I’m out.

Also, I don’t read a lot of shifter books, but it seems like they show as 35? year olds forever? How do regular humans not catch on that they never age?

It’s an interesting beginning to this new series by one of my favorite authors. It’s written a little differently than a lot of her other books, but I’m really finding the backstory of Apollo very interesting. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
