The Primitive Menace

Rate this book
The worst villain any Beaufont has ever faced has just stepped out of the shadows.

Genevieve Beaufont can’t hide from the evil that’s unveiled itself.

And no one can believe who it is.

It has been foretold that when Gen’s true nemesis revealed themselves that this would launch her into her ultimate role. It is time for this medieval warrior to rule over the world of magic—having ultimate domain.

Besides from the gods, who started this all, no one is more powerful than Gen and her dragon, Emperor.

That’s why one man wants to stop her.

Gen simply can’t have her title. She must fight for it.

Everything has been building towards this.

No war will be more epic than this one—when the final fight happens for the throne to rule over magic.

Can Gen Beaufont defend her role, taking supreme authority?

Or will this ancient evil stop her, stealing dominion and taking over all. Gen was never promised anything. She must fight for this role or watch as tyranny reigns over the world.

Mother Nature and Father Time can no longer help. They’ve chosen their player. Hedged their bets for centuries. Now, it’s time for them to sit back and watch the game of life unfurl.

The future of the world of magic and mortals ultimately depends on who wins this war.

Oh boy!

This HAS TO be up there as one of the best of Sarah Noffke's Beaufont books that I've read, so far!

So many things are happening, and all that Father Time, and Mother Earth, planned for, in Genevieve Beaufont, is falling into place.

Every puzzle piece is being moved around, and clicked into liney, with every new step that Gen takes, along with her Dragon, Emperor, and all of those wonderful characters that she chooses to be with her, in this final confrontation.

Of all of those, who are determined to stop Haro Takahashis from winning this War - a war that HE deemed necessary - there's not one of her Team that she could do without and, reading how they use each others' strengths and, sometimes, even what they'd consider their own weaknesses, was a brilliant exercise in tactics.

I loved reading this book, even though I had to slow down my rate of reading, in order to catch every single nuance, and every little piece of the picture, that Sarah has so cunningly put together, in order to piece this magnificent story together.

As usual, it entertained me, and it educated me in some particularly funny ways but, more than anything else, it had my emotions held tightly to the plot, where I reached all the highs and lows that all of these wonderful characters experienced by.

All of Sarah's characters are so very Human, and I long ago fell in love with the Beaufonts, and with all of their wonderful ideas, & ideals, to which they had dedicated generations of their family to see, in order to fight against evil.

The next book, 'The Untraditional Outlaw', won't be published until 11th April this year, so we've almost a month to wait but, luckily, I have literally thousands of books to choose from on my Kindle Fire, so I'll be going back to the series I was reading, before 'The Primitive Menace' dropped into my Kindle .

This will be Book Seven: 'God Trials', of Renee Jagger's 'The Were Witch' series!

Once I finish this next book, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!

Haro Takahashi, head of one of the families in the House of Fourteen, has been exposed as being Mr. X. He’s been working in the shadows for centuries on a plan to take over as the king of magic and make Magicians first in the world, separating the races.

Gen Beaufort may be the declared ruler of magic making her the 3rd most powerful being on the planet, but she’s going to have to prove herself to the other races and defeat Mr. X. And she must do it without Emperor, her dragon, for he off to search for the fabled city of dragons: Skyhaven.

Her first task as the ruler of magic is to assist Sherlock and Rudolf on a magic mystery at Baskerville Hall, a previous case of Sherlock’s.

Mutsu Kurosaki Lighthouse is not on the shore and is right next to agricultural fiends and a winery. They could have gotten closer to the jungle area. And there’s no natural harbor nearby, the coastline is straight. It’s obvious that the author didn’t spend much time studying Google Earth.

Footnote: 1) I love the description of Golden Corral. So perfectly true. That place is a waste of money and food and just contributes to obesity.
2) Editing error: Chapter 26 when Gen is talking to the Council she’s explaining her physical evidence. ‘Correspondence’ are the physical writings. ‘Correspondents’ are the people you write to. In fact, I found a dismayingly unneeded number of errors in this book. Both added, unnecessary words and missing ones.

Fave scenes: Emperor speaking to Genesis, the hidden room in the library, taking down the wall and Bermuda’s nature lessons.

This book was soooooooo good! The arch nemesis has been revealed and now it is down to Gen to bring everything and everyone together to take him down and save the world. First though Emperor is off on a quest of his own to bring the dragons together and Gen gets introduced to her very own fortress complete with AI. You can feel the tension going up another notch in this book as Gen has some difficult decisions to make, Sherlock and King Rudolph discover something sinister and dark going on at the moors and then Rose is attacked, putting hers and Williams lives in danger! After that it’s a dangerous undercover magic less mission deep into enemy territory as well as visit an old friend and release him from a never-ending cycle, phew! It’s gripping, it’s thrilling and it had me hooked, line and sinker from start to finish. The world building absolutely descriptive and beautiful, whether you were flying with Emperor or deep in the jungle with Gen, you could easily visualise it all and feel as though you were on the journey with them and you don’t want it to end. Yes a few tears were shed and yes there was a few moments of disbelief and a whole lot of gasping but most of all I was in awe of these incredible kick ass characters and their loyalty to each other. I cannot wait for the next book!

This one has it all

This book is chock full of stuff. We learn all about the bad guy, visit an old friend, meet someone new, spend lots of family time and solve a mystery. Lots of adventure and bad jokes mixed with a few tears.

Wow didn't see that coming

Well another fine tale. Although what some people have just found out, not all tales have endings that as you will see,are predictable.

If you`ve been reading this series of books you won`t need me to tell you that yet again this is another great read. Gen and Emperor are both reaching their potential and more adventures await them. It`s wonderful to see how they are coping with everything that`s thrown at them and the bond between them is a joy. I await the next episode with baited breath.
