Rate this book
In the chaotic aftermath of a mafia war, love is their strongest weapon. The aftermath of a brutal mafia war has left Luca Mariano a broken man, grappling with debilitating injuries and a shattered spirit. Resentful and withdrawn, he is forced to accept help from Sofia Russo, his childhood friend who has transformed from a naive girl into a strong, compassionate woman. Her unwavering support and gentle presence begin to heal his wounded heart, sparking an unexpected and passionate romance.

Chaos reigns as Sofia’s brother Julian tries to bring order to their fractured world, and old-school Sal Giordano is appointed as the head of the syndicate, clashing with Julian's modern vision. But when Sal’s methods draw the attention of the FBI, Luca pieces together a desperate plan to save the family, one that could easily earn him a bullet in the head.

On the streets of North Boston, Sofia struggles to hold together what’s left of her family. As she works to help Luca recover, Sofia sees past the soldier’s hardened exterior to the man he once was, but the harder she fights the intense heat between them, the closer they become, even though Sofia knows Luca is hiding something.

Discovering Luca’s secret could turn the Moretti Crime Syndicate upside down.

And when Sofia’s family discover the truth, it might just cost him his life.

This was so good!! I already want the next one!!
I think it can be read as a standalone but would be so much better if you read book 2(Saint) and book 3 (Cruel Empire)
I really don’t understand why some authors don’t get the recognition they deserve.
I was worried about Luca’s feelings toward Emilia but we soon understand it was more an infatuation than true love!
Sofia was such a strong but not too badass heroine, totally loveable who waited patiently for Luca to open his eyes (in both senses of the term 😉)
Luca has a painful recovery and for one I think it was good to see a mafia figure struggling.

✅damaged hero
✅strong curvy heroine
✅touch her and 🗡️
✅Beauty & the Beast vibe

❌no cheating /OW drama
❌no virgin

On top of it I want to say the writing style is perfect.I have become very picky with the style and this author pull me deep into the story right from the beginning.

There are moments in our lives that, when standing at the end and looking back, we wish we could have frozen in time forever, preserved in perfect, crystalline form for eternity. This was one of those moments.

I was excited to start a new mafia-inspired series, and this book does not disappoint. First time to read this author, but now I'm itching for the next book in this series to come out.

Everything about this book is great - the writing, the plot, the characters, even the "deadly secrets."

Luca and Sofia will steal your heart, break it, and piece it back together again.

If you are a fan of this genre, I highly recommend you read this book.

I really enjoyed this novella. I enjoyed the banter between the MCs. I can't wait to see where this series goes and what happens with Luca and Sofia.
