From a New York Times–bestselling author, two novellas featuring southern women who have loved and lost—and are surprised by a second chance at romance.
Mad in Mississippi
Bitsy Yarborough believes she's played her cards right by marrying her high school sweetheart and settling down to a sweet life in her small southern hometown. Until she discovers, on the night of her fifteenth wedding anniversary no less, an unrecognizable lipstick shade on her husband's collar and a blue pop-off nail in his tighty whities. Shocked to the core, Bitsy knows revenge is the only answer for the scoundrel she vowed to love forever. So she hires local PI Fisher Means to help build a case against her cheating husband and his harem of hussies. Only to discover she might have a few tender feelings left in her heart—for a man who is most definitely not her husband. . . .
Rain Down on Me
A life of solitude in a remote cabin in the Ozarks is all Skye Raley wants after the devastating loss of her husband. Until the self-sufficient widow encounters a man stumbling across the road in a thunderstorm, injured and in need of care. Once Skye opens her home to Max Bridger, healing his wounds and hearing the stories of his own lonely life, she discovers a connection to the rugged military man she never dreamed she'd have again. But once the rain stops and Max returns to his world, will her heart ever be content again?

This book has two wonderful novellas by one of my favorite authors. Not romance per say, but great stories about southern women.
Mad in Mississippi: 4-Stars "Don't get mad - get even." One of my favorite sayings and that is what Bitsy aims for in this novella. That is not to say that Bitsy isn't mad - she is. She channels that into gathering evidence with the help of PI Fisher Means with the aim of revenge and the total destruction of the reputations of both the cheating scumbag of a husband and the three harlots he is cheating with. I loved how cooly Bitsy handled herself and the growing respect between her and Fisher, an acquaintance from high school who was just as disgusted by Bitsy's husband as she was. Great novella.
Rain Down on Me: 3-Stars Predictable, but sweet romance about a woman, Skye Raley, who has chosen to live all alone on a mountain for eight years after the death of her young husband. The sudden appearance of Max Bridger, accident victim and Army vet, brings her face to face with what she is missing in her self imposed solitude.
Two wonderful second chance romance stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. In the first story ("Mad in Mississippi"), karma visits a cheating husband. That was a joy to watch unfold. In the second story ("Rain Down on Me"), sparks were ignited when a heart sore recluse picks up a lonely, lost soul who literally fell off a mountain. Just adorable! Loved both stories.
A wonderful story about a woman who showed her cheating, lying, no good husband and his 3 lying, cheating women how Karma feels. I also recommend the reading book clubs pick…. Another great read about a recluse heart sick woman and the man she saves after he fell off the side of a mountain (in a wreck). He was a lost soul who seemed to have no home left as everyone he loved had left him (in death).
I enjoyed the story Mad in Mississippi. However, there were a lot of editing mistakes. This is expected in many of the newer books.
I do take exception to the house dresses worn by Bitsy. I was born and raised in Mississippi. Never have I worn a house dress. Even when I was a stay at home mom in the 19s0's, I never wore a dress to do house work. Dresses were saved for church, funerals, and weddings. If it wasn't for the cell phones, I would have thought the story was written in the 1950's or 1960's. My daughter is a contemporary of Bitsy's. When she does housework, she wears pants or shorts. In Mississippi and other places in the south, pants are now worn for church, funerals, and weddings. In fact, my sister-in-law wore jeans to my mother's funeral. The story seemed to be stuck in the 50's.
Another thing that reminded me of the 50's and 60's was that the man of the house was supposed to be the boss. That would not go over very well with my daughter or my daughter-in-law. Cooking, cleaning, and laundry are shared equally in their households.
I liked Bitsy's gumption. The idea of revenge is sweet. I did enjoy the story, even though it did seem a little out dated.
Mad in Mississippi - 3 stars Is any man in the world truly this stupid? a. Cal collected pens from all the hotels where he met his women, brought the pens home and left them lying around the house. b. He regularly came home after being with a woman smelling of her perfume, having lipstick stains on his clothes, having hickeys and bite marks and having buttons ripped off his shirts. c. He left incriminating things in his truck – a woman’s hairbrush, TWO tubes of lipstick, a pair of panties and condoms. d. When Bitsy was angry at Cal and his buddy Bradley for lying to her about her car not being fixed, did it not occur to Cal that it was kind of strange that she didn’t ask *why* they lied about that? e. He had conversations with his women in locations where his wife could (and did) easily overhear him.
Rain Down on Me - 2 stars Too sweet. Instalove with no angst or conflict.

I do not normally like romances but a love story, I will read.
I really loved the book. I have been blessed with an A+ husband and an above average husband. Definitely a 10. Not a book I expected it to be. It was better. I cared about them both. Not a book about divorce but love and honor. And BTW , what a cowboy!!! First time read of author Sharon Sala. I think I will try another.
Bravo Sharon Sala! This is an excellent story of a strong, resilient woman who not only frees herself from a bad situation but gets revenge and discovers her true self along the way. The reading selection of Bitsy’s book club was one I highly recommend. Five stars from me.
Two excellent stories, with strong women at the center, make up this book. In the first, the old adage about not getting mad but getting even takes center stage. In the other, a solitary woman becomes an angel for a soldier coming home to heartbreak. The women are terrific and the men they choose this time around are worthy to stand by their side.
I always enjoy Sharon Sala's books. The characters and settings are so well written and the books give you a couple of hours away in another world. The books are always filled humor, lots of times suspense, and my favorite a little esp thrown in. I look forward to more from her.
Both stories are excellent about strong women who come to live on their own terms but find true love after events that are beyond their control. Well done Author Sharon Sala, another remarkable book.
Sharon Sala has taken adultery and divorce to new heights and revenge/rescue. bitsy takes the meaning of 'Bless Your Heart' to the extreme. Loved every page of this story. Another winner in her long list of titles.
A delightful read that proves there is nothing worse than a woman scorned, and no greater mistake, made by a man, than under estimating the powerful anger of a wife who has been wronged. Gentlemen, beware!!
I really enjoyed these two stories. The first dealt with rage and recovery. It made for a late night. The second story dealt with retreat and recovery. The second heroine was the opposite of the first, yet they were both wonderful characters. The author, one of my favorites, delivered again.
This book was sooooo good i read it in one sitting! I cried with Bitsy and rejoiced with her. This book was recommend by a book group I belong to on Facebook. I am so so glad it was!
Absolutely entertaining, comedic, salacious! I loved this heartbroken, strong southern female that doesn't tuck her tail in and hide! I now have a new favorite author!
Beautifully written with care With carefully crafted messages. This book is a must-read. The first story at times is a bit long but so worth it. The second story was brilliant and thoughtful.
Books that start with excitement and continue to be interesting care the best. I loved the heroine and detested her snake of a husband. The story line was continuous and the end great. Another great read, Sharon. Thank you.
I’m not mad about this book. How Bitsy took her time to ruin Cal and his harem was brilliant and then waited to get her life back on track before falling in love again was just what she needed.
I liked every bit of this story. The characters become real. Sharon Sala is truly one of the best writers I have ever read. I will always buy a book she writes.
The first story was good and I liked it despite the TON of grammatical errors. The second story was borderline incomprehensible b/c of these errors and it read like it was written by chatGPT.
