THE DEPUTY WAS RAISED BY WOLVES: A Light-hearted Enemies to Lovers Romance

Rate this book
She's up for promotion. He's up to… something. The vampire's up to no good.

Werewolf pack enforcer Nora Daniels is this close to her dream promotion to Regional Enforcement Captain. Her two goals? Nail the job and avoid workplace drama.

Enter Kenneth Clark—the new deputy who redefines disaster. He's cocky, careless, and feels like trouble—which wouldn't matter if he could actually do his job. Worse? The LifeMate Buzz hits her like a freight train every time he's near, screaming that this walking liability is her fated mate.

Um, no. Nora would rather date a vampire. Unfortunately, the rogue vampire they're hunting would like that, too.

When the rogue crashes Moonchuckle Bay's Monster Movie Festival targeting engaged couples, Nora becomes the bait as Kenneth’s (fake) fiancé. Cue maximum awkwardness, epic denial, and a Buzz Denial Fund that's paying for the sheriff's next three pizza parties.

But Kenneth keeps "accidentally" saving her life, quoting protocols he shouldn't know, and looking at her like she's his entire world. Something doesn't add up. And when Nora uncovers what he's really hiding, she'll have to the promotion she's worked her whole life for—or the infuriating wolf who might actually be worth losing everything.

Moonchuckle where monsters are real, love bites, and denial is just a river in Egypt.OTHER BOOKS SET IN MOONCHUCKLE

I’m an author who had a somewhat unorthodox upbringing. I was raised in South America and the Middle East, and wrote my first stories as a teenager in Kuwait, where my sister and I proved it really is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk. I wrote my first novel in three months on a typewriter when I was 21, I used every romance cliché possible (including amnesia — need I say more?), and never rewrote anything, which is why it’s so much fun to pull it out occasionally when I need a good laugh. I wrote sporadically until my youngest child (who is now 18) was two, when I decided it was time to either actually start writing, or to stop saying I was a writer. So I took a class and started doing the scary things that writing requires. Now I’ve written about twelve novels and several children’s books.

This particular book in the Moonchuckle Bay series, went a little long. Oh it is still easy to read and really fun journey to go on, but she could have ended the book 2 chapters before the actual ending.

It is fun to read about star crossed lovers and see them in denial about their equally fire attraction for each other. Even their coworkers have a pulling going on to see when they will admit their mutual attraction for each other. Both are in law enforcement but only one is in undercover.

He chooses to stay undercover to save lives and it is his job after all. Of course his cover is blown by the slip of the tongue. He is hunting a very old vampire who let his grief turn to poison on him. Danger is in the way, but love concurs all.

Though it's always fun to revisit Moonchuckle Bay and the beloved characters that live there, this story was not my favorite. The plot device that keeps the lifemates apart doesn't make much sense and the supernatural law enforcement is annoyingly incompetent. 2.5 stars
