Legal Affairs #2

Confessions of a Litigation God

Rate this book
WARNING, LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK FROM MATT CONNOVER, LITIGATION GOD: Please do not attempt to read my story in public, as my sexual proclivities have been known to cause squirming in your seat, squeezing of your legs together and unintentional moaning, sometimes with spontaneous bursts of laughter at random moments. If you are offended by the fact that my oral skills are just as accomplished in the bedroom as they are the courtroom, then this book is not for you. There may be moments while reading my story that you get so turned on... so hot and bothered... that your squirming and moaning could turn maniacal in nature and neither I, nor the author, are responsible for the weird looks you may get. Notwithstanding the aforementioned warnings, if you assume the risk and read my tale in public, then I recommend you carry a spare set of panties with you. You will need them and you have been warned.

My name is Matt Connover. I am a Litigation God. Other lawyers quake before me. Women crawl on their knees just to spend the night in my bed and when I'm finished with them, I walk away without a backward glance. I am well satisfied with my life and there isn't a damn thing I'd change about it.

That is, until McKayla Dawson came along.

She was meant to be for one night only. But she got under my skin, and now I want her back underneath my body.

It's torture working with her in my law firm... day in and day out. But I have to think maybe the Fates have intervened to throw us together because she is unlike anyone I've ever known, and thus I need to pay careful attention to these Legal Affairs.

****

Confessions of a Litigation God is a stand alone, full length erotic novel. It follows the affair of Matt Connover and McKayla Dawson as told in the Legal Affairs Serial Romance, Volumes 1-6. This book is told strictly from Matt's point of view and has many additional scenes not included in the serial volumes. You do not need to have read the Legal Affairs Serial to understand this novel.

★★★★★! Legal Affairs, Confessions of a Litigation God. Larger-than-life Matt Connover’s version of his whirlwind romance with young employee!

“Hope to have that lipstick smudged all over my cock later tonight.”

The Legal Affairs serial and Confessions of a Litigation God are the epic love story of litigation attorney Matt Connover and young aspiring attorney McKayla Dawson, Mac. Through both books cover same events I am highly recommending both. I read Legal Affairs first then waited several weeks and now read Matt’s POV in Confessions of a Litigation God.

Book 1-6: Legal affairs, #1-6 BOX set - McKayla’s POV
Part 1: Objection
Part 2: Stipulation
Part 3: Violation
Part 4: Mitigation
Part 5: Reparation
Part 6: Affirmation

Book 7: Confessions of a Litigation God
- Matt’s POV

Confessions of a Litigation God is litigation attorney and partner at Connover & Crown, LLP aka member #134, Matt Connover,’s story. It opens up to him scanning for new members in his secret sex club, One Night Only. He spots a stunning beauty, member #3498 and they subsequently enjoy a night of endless pleasure.

“My dick should be broken… out of commission after last night, but nope…it still wants to play.”

Imagine the shock come Monday morning when he realizes that member #3498 is also McKayla Dawson, Mac, the new young attorney in his employ due to a business venture. Aside from sex club’s rule of one night only, with Mac being her new employee they agree to forget about their one night of passion.

That however proves difficult as both Matt and Mac have an intense sexual attraction. The story goes on to follow them working side by side while fighting their sexual cravings for each other… and failing miserably! Matt has his mind set on a strictly-sexual relationship while Mac wants more.

“The formula seems to be working. Eat, fuck, and leave.”

The power struggle that ensues will take us on euphoric highs and rock-bottom lows. Getting Matt’s POV will shed light on the reasons for his hot-cold demeanor and will delve into his painful past. Story offers the best of off-the-charts sex, engaging dialogue, vindictive villains, self-reflection, tragedies, victories and set-backs…. until the last page!

 photo LALGhxBSbysb_zpsd0cfbbc1.gif

I didn’t think I could heart Matt Connover any more but getting his POV was beyond amazing! He is truly everything I could ask for in a hero. His aloof, non-committal ways kept me on my toes! Eight words to describe all-too-delicious Matt: Aloof, commanding, elusive, private, successful, jaded, closed-off and vulnerable.

 photo LALGhexBSbysb_zps872ed874.gif

And as much as I adored McKayla Dawson, Mac in the serial I like her even more now. She did an amazing job finding her footing next to the larger-than-life Matt, but more importantly she knows how to handle him. Eight words to describe Mac: Strong, vulnerable, loyal, sincere, naïve, smart, compliant and compassionate.

Confessions of a Litigation God is a priceless glimpse into the enigma that is Matt Connover! It provided all the answers and the perfect ending to Matt and Mac’s saga with several epilogues way into their future.

Larger-than-life Matt Connover! Scorching sex scenes! Captivating plot! Excellent story-telling! Wonderful heroine!

“I denied you nothing, Matt. I simply asked for more.”

"Oh, God."
Not God, babe.
Matt Fucking Connover.

This book is male's POV from Objection, and although can be read as a standalone I would strongly advise to read the series before starting this one. Only then you can fully experience Matt Connover, my new proud member of the top book boyfriends list. I know there is always a risk with the same story written in different POV but I think this one was brilliant. It was like reading the same story but not the same book, not at all. So if you liked Matt in Legal Affairs, you will fall in love with him here.

The guy seems like an asshole and douche bag, no doubt about that, I wanted to strangle or stab him for most part of the book and until he finally lets himself feel and starts to fight for his happiness, I was constantly saying: Get your shit together Matt! But I loved him anyway *sigh*.
Having been hurt and betrayed by his ex-wife, he doesn't do relationships or commitment, he uses "One Night Only" to get laid and that's enough for him. "Matt Fucking Connover does not date. He does not give. He takes, and he may reciprocate, but he has no room in his life for a woman. No matter how great a fuck she is."
That is until he meets McKayla Dawson. Sexually attracted to each other, they start this relationship based on sex, Matt actually repeats like mantra: you know this is only sex, we're just friends, there's nothing more to it than sex, bla bla bla, right, what a bullshit. "Oh, well... it's either I get hurt or she gets hurt, and I'm not putting myself in a position ever again where I'm the one who suffers in the end." And so they continue this sex driven fling until Mac wants more and refuses to be just his fucktoy.
"I can't take this shit anymore. I did nothing to deserve this."(...)
"You did nothing to desrve this? You fucking denied me."(...)
"I denied you nothing, Matt. I simply asked for more."

And being an ass and chicken, Matt withdraws. After that there's a little drama, a little miscommunication and a lot of heartache, and it takes Matt too fucking long but he eventually gets that there's still a chance for him to be happy. "I finally started realizing that the pain of loneliness is much worse than the pain of betrayal and heartbreak that I was trying to avoid." And oh sweet baby mamma, I was literally jumping up and down by then, I wanted to kiss him and hug him and kiss him and hug him......

McKayla Dawson, well, kickass heroine if you ask me. She was intelligent, smart, witty, kind-hearted, brave and with strong backbone. I loved her in Legal Affairs but seeing her through Matt's eyes made me love her more, made me appreciate her more. She was perfect woman. Period.
Here's just a few Matt's descriptions to prove it:
- "Oh, man... what did I ever do to deserve this woman? This woman who looks like an angel, fucks like the devil, and has instantly forgiven my transgressions."
- "Mac... being Mac... which means understanding, wonderful, kind, fucking hot as hell, best blow job giver ever, and just a generally perfect woman(...)"
- "Ultimate. Fantasy. Woman."

Jeez, this review is looooooong. But there are not enough words to describe how much I loved that book. So one more thing, I promise:) The smutty part. Well, this beauty will melt your panties girls. Trust me when I say, it's smoking, scorching, sizzling hawt! Oh boy, was I aroused.....

Whew. That's it. That's probably the longest review I have ever written. I shit you not. Go ahead peeps, read it!!!

Well Mrs. Bennett, I must say, you write

And truly, I am a fan, you are brilliant.

I was just thinking, how about Cal and Macy's story??? Pretty please.....

4--More of a Sex God Than a Litigation God--Stars!!!

Holy Geez did these two have a lot of sex...

I mean....WOW! Matt I have two words for your sex skillz...

But let's face it....Matt

I did not read the novella series, and while I did enjoy this one....other than a lot of sex and Matt's internal dialogue regarding his feelings for Mac, not a whole hell of a lot happened.

Matt's internal dialogue was exhausting.

Is it just sex or do you want more? Back and forth. Two steps forward, one step back.

I would have loved for this book to be dual POV. There were lots of times I wanted to know what Mac was thinking. Specifically, if she was thinking

like I was a majority of the time. But for as mad as I got at Matt at times, I do love a good asshole.

And while yes most of the time I wanted to throttle Matt, then he'd do something sweet to make up for it.

Ultimately I thought Matt spent too much timing toying with Mac's emotions, but it made for an entertaining read nonetheless.

* * * * Spoiler Free-Convicted For Being FREE!!!!!
Men are always fascinating to me. I am forever curious about how they think and why. I think my switch to reading romance rather than the mysteries and thrillers of the past was caused by this need. I know all of what I am reading is fiction.... made up from an idea born in an author's head...but somewhere...somehow...there must be a grain of reality in order for it to have been formed.

This book is the POV of "Litigation God", Matt Connover. In the 6 part series Legal Affairs, we met him through the eyes of McKayla Dawson. We journeyed through the amazingly addictive sexual escapades they had; through the risky working relationship encounters and then into that place where one wants more than the other can give.

Matt lives up to his name and in this book, we get to really experience more legal proof of it.
We also are there while he juggles his need to shut down all tricky feelings he has for Mac... as he is not wanting to break his rules he constructed for preservation. He was hurt...smashed and he will not allow that to ever happen to him again.

This was a strong POV book put forth by the author. It would work without the reader ever having read the series... it also adds more emotional insight to Matt for those who have read the 6 parts. So in my book, it was a win-win for the Litigation God.

For those wanting to know if the smut is of the level worth a man like Matt...the answer is "I refuse to answer on the grounds, it might incriminate me"... and only my need for laundry will tell.

 photo LitigationGod_zps54a52c93.jpg

I have not read any of the prior Legal Affairs books before staring this one. This book was from Matt's POV and I have to tell ya that I love a male POV. This book did not disappoint in that regard. There were times when I wanted to slap Matt up side the head, kick his ass, strangle him, shot him and then I would want to hug him and love him.

This story starts with a one night stand (upscale of course because Matt is that kind of guy) with an incredible woman (number 3498) who you can guess is Matt's newest employee, McKayla "Mac" Dawson, that he meets the next day. They are both surprised, baffled, and energized by the coincidence. Mac will be reporting to none other than Matt. While his brain says that he can't date his employee, his "other" brain says why can't they just do sex if it doesn't interfere with work. And the one thing Mac learns is that Matt Does Not Date. He is at least always honest about sex and only sex.

We get his internal monologue of how he lusts and desires Mac and how all he wants his sex. He can be such an ass at times and then he could be the sweetest at times. Matt has been burned in his past and it controls him. He doesn't want to get hurt and so he builds a wall around his heart. All he wants is sex and doesn't want another relationship. There are times when he thinks that he could try a relationship but he is his own worst enemy.

Enter Mac....the beautiful, sexy, witty, intelligent lawyer who is also the best one night stand Matt has ever had. They definitely have an intense sexual connection but she also has more, she is the whole package. As this story is told from Matt's POV, Mac's thoughts are left out. There were many times I wanted to know why she did certain things or didn't do because of Matt's actions. I would have loved a dual POV but getting inside a guys head can be fun, exhausting, maddening and yes insightful too.

Matt's internal dilemma of dating sabotages his chances with Mac. Mac is strong at times and then weak at times. But dating is never easy and when there is baggage on the man's end, IMO, the "never easy" goes to "worst of the worst". All I can say is there is a lot of turmoil as well as a lot of sex. There is angst and there is bliss. There is "good" Matt and there is "asshole" Matt. But this book does come full circle and It has a wonderful epilogue. I love a book with an epilogue!!!!!

Thank you Sawyer Bennett for a fabulous read and I look forward to going back and reading from Mac's POV.

For those of you who have already read this one. Do you think I can enjoy this one directly after the first six books or should I wait some time? I'm afraid I won't really enjoy this one since it's the same story in his pov...

Title: Confessions of a Litigation God
Series: Standalone (although follows Legal Affairs Series)
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: 19th May, 2014
Rating: 4.5 "Horny" stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

This was my first introduction to any of The Legal Affairs Series, I wasn't familiar with the story, the characters or even that I was reading an existing story from a different P.O.V. Without knowing what I was missing out on I'm happy to see the story for the first time through the eyes of Matt.

My feelings of Matt is that he is intelligent, sexy, tender and strong not only in the physical sense but in his conviction and thought process. He's open to us as readers about his vulnerability since his divorce and his uncompromising notion of protecting himself by closing himself of emotionally. This is where for me he differs from your traditional playboy, his attitude is borne out of self preservation:

“I’m not putting myself in a position ever again where I’m the one who suffers in the end.”

And so his repeated use of One Night Only, a guilt free service that provides "no strings sex" and his eventual introduction to Number 3498; McKayla "Mac" Dawson.
I can truly say the I like Mac, I rarely like let alone really like female leads but she's brilliant, funny and feisty and you can understand why Matt is so taken with her.

"I know I may come off as an asshole more than ninety-five percent of the time, but the truth is, I have a big heart too. I just don't let women in it. No, all of my heart is spent on just a few things.."

Those being, his son, his parents and his Law Practice. Soon we see Mac making her way onto that list and Matts internal conflict between trying to keep it simple and exploring his deep feeling of need for her.

Sexually they are explosive.

Emotional they are responsive to one another.

And mentally it freaks him out hence some displays of dick head male behaviour in his need to reiterate to her his unwillingness to pursue any form of resemblance to a relationship.

This book is both hot and sexy but surprisingly it offers something a little bit more in the way of emotion and this is what took it to the next level for me, It had a more conscious feel than the regular run of the mill books of this formula.

Traditionally I don't tend to read alternative POV books but for those of you that have read the previous I'd urge you to give this a go too.

I'm mean come on... it's "Matt f**king Connover."

More Matt...fan-tastic day!!

4.5 I thought I loved Matt until I got inside his head stars

Having been drip fed the Legal Affairs parts 1- 6, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. But when I found out that Matt would be giving us his own POV...across the entire Legal Affairs timespan...I thought it was Christmas.

It is not imperative to read the series from Mac's POV prior to this edition, but I found that any lust I was feeling for the Litigation God that is Matt Connover that developed during then, very quickly turned to love after reading this.

Matt had been seriously hurt having thrown himself into the role of the dutiful husband, and found himself at ease with his life. His work/play balance was just right, but an underlying emptiness had started to creep in.

From the beginning, when Matt & Mac met through One Night Only's services, their attraction was mutual. When their dalliances continued, the attraction far from waned. The insight into his internal antagonism was humorous and heartfelt. He was experiencing newness in every encounter with Mac, but his mind harped back to his negative reality.

"Hottest. Thing. Ever."

From his constant affirmation to himself..

"Sex is all it is"

To their hilarious dialogue..

"I promise not to sing 'Who let the dogs out?'"

Matt had met his perfect match in Mac, and it was a delightful journey watching them battle that out.

Love this author..I'm onto her back catalogue :D

This is the Legal Affairs books 1-6 told from Matt Fucking Connovers POV and although it felt like I was reading the same story at times I still loved it. I loved being in his head and he is such a great character that I think Sawyer Bennett pulled it off really well.

Fantastic Epilogue too, I was crying on the train like a mad woman!

If you loved the LA series, then I recommend fitting this into your reading schedule.

The Legal Affairs is a series made up of 6 novellas. The series is told by MacKayla (Mac) who is the heroine who ends up in a relationship with HOT & SEXY Matt Connover. I loved that series.

So when Confessions of a Litigation God came out I couldn’t wait to read it. This story is told from Matt’s POV. I guess you could consider this a standalone but I would recommend reading the Legal Affairs series first. It just makes this book that much better, IMO. :)

Matt Connover is a man of many layers. What is on the surface is a confident, sexy and hot as hell lawyer who knows what he wants from a woman and simply takes it. And what he wants from the woman in his life is intense sex and nothing more. There was a time when he wanted more but that need has been buried deep inside.

 photo 4e9a843f-dfb9-447d-8a81-dcb47e6d643d_zpsce110410.jpg
“Once you have been in love, and you have that love obliterated by the one person you thought you could trust above all else, well, let’s just say that leaves a mark on your soul.”

McKayla (Mac) was an amazing heroine. She was beautiful, smart, funny and sexy too. When she agreed to a date with Matt it really wasn’t something that she would normally do but she does it anyway. I absolutely love how Mac owned Matt (he wouldn’t admit to it though) right from date number 1!

 photo Mckayla_zps9847abfe.jpg
“I know I may come off as an asshole more than ninety-five percent of the time, but the truth is, I have a big heart too. I just don’t let women in it.”

Matt finds himself in a bit of a problem right from the get go. Matt uses a secret and exclusive on line club “One Night Only” to find woman that want the same as he does. Just one night….nothing more, nothing less. But after he meets Mac for the first time and experiences a night of amazing sex he finds himself breaking his own rule and giving in to the temptation of more nights with her.

For the most part Matt was able to control the feelings and desires he had for Mac. She was always willing to give him exactly what he needed. The two of them were insatiable. “I couldn’t get enough of her….she couldn’t get enough of me. It was insatiability on steroids. “ The attraction between them was intense and the sex was HOT. It didn’t take much for Matt to want to rip her clothes off and show her how much he wanted her.

Matt was walking a fine line with Mac. He didn’t do relationships. He would never give his heart away to another woman after the pain he suffered from his ex-wife. As he spends more time with Mac, and breaks more of his rules the lines begin to blur and Matt finds himself wanting more. Can their relationship be more than just sex? Can he give his heart to Mac?

Their relationship does turn a corner and things seem to be going along just fine but a combination of things happen and it causes Matt to freak out a bit. Matt falls into an internal battle with himself and finds it almost too difficult to let go of his fears.

I loved getting Matt and Mac’s story told from Matt’s POV. I loved him in the Legal Affairs series but I loved him more in this one. Just finding out what was really going on in his head and how he truly felt was perfect. He is definitely a man of many layers and honestly I loved them all. Yeah he was an asshole at times but he could also be sweet as all heck too!!

This was everything I've expected from Matt's perspective... and more. Hell yeah. So much more. I loved that I got to read his and Mac's story for the second time with his insights to add and it's amazing. The epilogue was fantastic especially Mac's prank/surprise for him!

4 Asshat stars

This will be a combined review of all 7 books in this serie

When I first met The all mighty I.AM.THE.MAN Matthew Connover, I really did not like him at all... he was arrogant and just a asshat with a degree behind his name and a boo-boo left by his x wife.

description

description

Makayla Dawson, well just before you want to whack her on the head she does it herself. She takes it and takes it till she had it with Matt and his bullshit and then she demands what she need and want. I liked her even though she made my temper spiked some.

description

Between book 5 and 6 Matt and I came to an understanding - I will give him a fair chance if he stops pissing me off. I still wanted to kick his butt.

description

I just think it would have been better to started the books out with dual point of views, rather than a complete book (7) out off Matthew's POV.

Oh man, I really don't know where to start with this review. What I do know is that what I'm about to write is definitely in the minority but hey, reading is a subjective thing. What one person absolutely loves will not necessarily float the boat for another... and that unfortunately is the case with Sawyer Bennett's "Confessions of a Litigation God." I wanted to love this story.. I really did. I hadn't followed this series but it clearly said that it could be read as a standalone. The synopsis sounds fab (not necessarily original but something I would definitely enjoy). The icing on the cake was that it was told from a male POV and this I couldn't wait for. Having recently read a couple of fabulous books solely from the man's POV, I couldn't wait to have a chuckle or two at the inner thoughts of a certain Matt Conniver.

Unfortunately, very early on, I started to become frustrated. Frustration turned to anger... and anger very quickly turned to fury. Matt Conniver was a jackass of the worst kind. He was a douchebag, a twat, a complete and utter dick and right from the off, I disliked him immensely. Now I don't mind the love em and leave him kind of guy. That's fine and Matt was just that. He never made a secret of it and the women that were lucky enough to go a round with him were under no illusion when it came to his intentions. The bonus was his bedroom skills. Yeah so he sounds great right? Nope. He was cocky and arrogant and his treatment of Mac was appalling. One minute he was hot, the next he was cold. i understood that he had been burned in the past but that in no way excused his behaviour. He truly deserved several blows to the nuts for some of his comments and actions. Even thinking about it infuriates me.

Matt really did want his cake and eat it and poor McKayla ended up being his number one target. His treatment of this woman was terrible but what made it worse was that she allowed him to do it time and time again. She was putty in Matt's hands, she was a door matt and every time Matt decided he wanted a bit, she gave in.

I wish I could see the beginnings of a beautiful relationship between McKayla and Matt but all I saw was sex... lots and lots of sex ... to the point where I skimmed... a lot. I mean who the hell skims on sex scenes??? I wanted a glimmer of hope for something, some depth to their connection but Matt used McKayla for sex even after they "got together" and that pretty much summed up what they shared (in my eyes anyway).

"Confessions of a Litigation God" felt like a conveyor belt of Matt blowing hot, using McKayla for sex and then blowing cold. MacKayla calling it a day and then Matt blowing hot again and so the cycle began again.

Like I said, I wanted to love this book but the characters and the constant backwards and forwards left me drained and exhausted. I know this book worked for many readers but for me, it just didn't hit the mark.

I rated "Confessions of a Litigation God" ❤️❤️

My personal opinion: this one was just BLAH BLAH BLAH for me… I kept reading because I didn't want to put another book on DNF shelf.

First book is written from heroine POV and second from hero POV. I saw reviews and decided to read only hero POV; both books basically hold the same story.

This is just plain office / erotic / romantic story with no angst or suspense or anything to keep your reading pace. I love assholes, even the arrogant ones LOL, but there was a lot of pointless acts I didn't quite understand.

I hate when book is labeled as erotic novel and than all you get are repeated boring sex scenes….. when this passionless boring sex scenes are forced into story just to call it erotic novel.

Although I loved reading what Matt thought and the reasons behind this actions, I must say I was sometimes a bit bored. Having read the Legal Affairs 1-6 made 75% of this book familiar, so I did skip a lot. But man, did these two have a LOOOOT of sex, jeez he is not a litigation god, but a sex god! Fucking unbelievable!

This is the story of two attorneys, 30-something Matt Connover, and 20-something Mckayla "Mac" Dawson. They meet at a dating service called One Night Only--an exclusive no-strings sex club. Of course they set the sheets on fire and Matt, who has been sleeping with everything that moves since his bitter divorce, decides he wouldn't mind breaking his rules about never going beyond one night with a woman. Imagine his surprise when the woman he only knows as "Marie" ends up being the latest addition to his law firm.

No real review here just some thoughts:

*if ever a hero needed a shrink/therapy it was Matt Connover. Sometimes I think this about the H/h when I'm reading, but I'm telling you, I thought about this a lot for Matt.

Matt F***ing Connover does not date.
He does not give.
He takes, and he may reciprocate, but he has no room in his life for a woman.
No matter how great a f*** she is.

* I almost gave up on this book because the hero, Matt drove me crazy with his attitude. What an ego. What a stubborn man. But I forged ahead because the writing was un-put-downable and I had to see if this guy would ever pull his head out of his a**.

"I think with my dick, Mckayla...not with my heart. It serves me well."

* As you can probably guess, Matt was afraid of being hurt. Terrified of putting his heart on the line. He was carrying a ton of baggage over his ex-wife's betrayals, and he just couldn't get past it. Kudos to the heroine McKayla, for sticking with him through all his asshole antics, and for not being a doormat. Even though I didn't know what she was thinking, I could see that she was a kind, patient, intuitive person. She really deserved better.

She wants to spend time with me.
Not with my tongue.
Not with my cock.
But with me.
And this takes me past a sex-only deal with no strings.
I know my voice is aloof when I say, "I have plans all weekend, so I'll see you in the office on Monday."

Chicken. (That's me commenting)

Oh, well...it's either I get hurt or she gets hurt, and I'm not putting myself in a position ever again where I'm the one who suffers in the end.

*Thankfully, thankfully, just as I was ready to give up on him, Matt was able to turn himself around (and without professional help! Just a talk with good old Dad was enough to set him on the right course. jeez, Dad, you couldn't appear sooner with your words of wisdom?

 photo kissing couplegif_zpszrfwhgn1.gif

*While reading (the story was told in Matt's pov) I wondered what the heroine was thinking and how I'd like to read a few of her thoughts. Silly me didn't realize until I was about at the half way mark and decided to investigate that there was a whole series of books told in McKayla's pov! Legal Affairs Boxed Set: Volumes 1-6 (Feeling kind of stupid now...)

*Was this book hot? You betcha. Ah, the things these two insatiable people did...
But it almost took too long for Matt to man up and admit his feelings for Mac for me. Almost. Sawyer Bennett, you cut it really close on this one...

All in all, a pretty good read. If you like it hot, you'll like this one, as long as you can put up with Matt. Not my favorite of SB's, but I haven't read a stinker yet. All of her stuff so far is at least a 4 star read for me. So a solid 4 stars for this one too.

I'm kinda sad I read this one. I don't feel the same love for the couple that I did after reading the serials (BTW can I just say that if this serial fad was a object, I would use it as target practice with my .45, that's how much I hate them).

3 reasons I didn't love this book:

1) Matt is an asshole in his inner dialogue
2) Matt is a dick in his inner dialogue
3) INNER DIALOGUE!!! Seriously 90% of this book was the thoughts in his head. They weren't good thoughts. They made me hate him most of the time.

The rest of the book was basically sex. I'm a book whore as much as the next chick but for fucks sake do something other than bang the entire book!!!!

Having said that, there were a couple things (but really like 2%) of the book that made me 3 star it instead of rating it lower.

Basically how I'm feeling now

This review can also be found on my blog: A Match Made in Heaven

I enjoyed this much more than the original series of shorts. I would really recommend reading only this one, or at least reading this one first. This tells the story of all the shorts as one novel and from the POV of Matt rather than McKayla. Matt comes across as a real asshole in the shorts since we don't get much insight into his motivations. But in Confessions of a Litigation God we can see Matt struggling with his feelings.

A lot of the time he lets his fears and insecurities get in the way of being happy with McKayla, but at least you get more of the good with the bad. You see how much he at first enjoys McKayla's company and cant stop thinking about her, how he eventually cares for her and doesn't want to let her go, and finally, how much he loves and needs her. I honestly didn't know that from reading the shorts. I assumed that Matt's asshole behavior was due to the fact that he didn't care about her until much later. Especially during the "off" periods of their off again-on again relationship. During those times, Matt was actually in a lot of pain, struggling with all the damage that his ex-wife had caused. He was missing Mac terribly, and trying to find a way to be with her without being hurt. He just needed time to work through his issues, which he did eventually. I found it extremely enlightening.

“Oh, God."
Not God, babe.
Matt Fucking Connover.”

This book really goes with its "Confessions" title, and is almost all inner dialogue. Inner dialogue I think is a 'love it or hate it' kind of thing, and for the most part I love it. I love really getting into the mind of a character. And this story is primarily the story of Matt working through his issues. You will have to be patient and understanding to enjoy this book. Matt makes a lot of epic mistakes. He deserves to get knocked on the head more often than not. But I love him.

The original Legal Affairs series was just a casual read for me. But I was completely immersed in this novel and I felt for Matt so much. I think this portrayed both Matt and Mac in a much more flattering light. We got to understand Matt and also see why he loves Mac so much. Mac is incredible for being able to influence such a stubborn and powerful man. She healed him. When I read their story from Mac's POV, I often found myself wondering why she was attracted to him, besides the physical. But now I feel like I know them both better, but this is still Matt's story.

I loved getting Matt's POV. I just feel like we didn't need 400 pages of the same thing, almost.

The story didn't flow at parts because if jumped to skip over parts that had more of Mac's thoughts. I liked that we got some of his inner thoughts, but damn, it was really over the top with all the sex crap, and then it skimmed over parts that would've been nice to get more in-depth on.

I'm just going to go with the fact that these last few books were written over 10 years ago, and they will get better as I continue down this author's catalog.

4.25 Stars!!

This book being from Matt’s POV really helped me to not want to throat punch him like in LEGAL AFFAIRS. I won’t say that there still weren’t some moments that I wanted to smack him but mainly because he needed to LET IT GO!!

This is an angsty story with a bunch of great sex. It also had a good epilogue which always helps since I like to know where it all went, when it comes to the main characters.

Inside Matt Connover's head was bloody amazing!

Although we know the story between Matt & Mac from the previous series, this in no way has a negative impact from Matt's POV

In the previous series you already Love Matt, he's a sexy, egotistical, rich attorney. He can be a jerk on many occasions, but down right alpha male when you need him to be.
description

From the confessions of this litigation god, we get to see the man who has clearly been destroyed by his first wife and the betrayal by his best friend, Cal. The bitterness and anger that he carries with him, has left him leading a life that works for him, with no outer unwanted influences. He can be successful in his work, his company and loving his son, Gabe, above all else. Why have a relationship with anyone if he can just get what he wants from the one night only club.

We get to see his serious side, all the emotions he is dealing with about his feelings for Mac. There is humour and funny moments and the epilogue was just perfect for their ending!

Just loved this series, will so be missing Matt Connover and Mackayla:(

4.5 Smoldering Stars!!!!

Matt Connover is just what every girl needs and thanks to Sawyer Bennett you get plenty of him, drip fed, via Confessions of a Litigation God!

I really loved the Legal Affairs series but Matt's story for me was even more enjoyable. If you thought you loved Matt in Legal Affairs just wait until you get your hands on him in this book!

Matt: "Not God, babe. Matt f**king Connover."

I was expecting this to simply be a story role reversal/POV but it was so much more. I'm not a lover of POVs but you get to see more of Matt's work and personal life in this full novel. I love his strength, his determination, his ruthlessness but also his vulnerability, tenderness and of course, his sex appeal.

"You're perfect, Mac. Just f**king perfect. Beyond beautiful."

Matt in Legal Affairs came across as a bit of a career drive and egotistical man but you get to see him for who is truly is in this book: a broken and damaged man who's been hurt beyond repair, until he meets Mac.

I know I'm a tease but if you loved Legal Affairs, you must buy Confessions of a Litigation God as soon as Sawyer Bennett releases it. If you're very nice to her she may press that elusive button sooner rather than later!!!

Okey I'm gonna have to say it loud and clear.
I love this book so much.
I really like Sawyer Bennett's writing style.
but most of the time I spent reading this book I had to resist the urge to slap Matt over and over again.

Even though this is the Legal Affairs series from Matt's POV, I didn't feel like I was reading the story all over again. It was defiantly an experience being in Matt 'F**king' Connover's head.

I put off this book for one reason. My list of books from Sawyer Bennett was dwindling. I was down to barely anything left unread. But I was in a rut. And I needed to get out of it. So I went to my failsafe. Ms. Bennett.

Although I’ve read the Legal Briefs series, COALG did not feel at all like I was just re-reading the same story. I loved seeing things from Matt’s point of view. I loved the added insight into his mind as he went from wanting nothing more than a single night – to every night with McKayla.

You can’t just beat the writing this author delivers. Solid characters, stories. All of it. Every single time. It’s sexy-smart-romance. I loved Matt & Mac’s story the first time I read it and I fell even harder when experiencing it from his point of view. Not only do you get some of your favorite moments retold – but you get brand new glimpses into their lives. And that is what makes these switch-POV stories work. New material. New insights. Not just the same story with some name changes.

For a fans of this series – this is a must read. If you haven’t yet read this author – pick book – read it. You really can’t go wrong with any of her titles.

Matt fucking Connover well what to say... I enjoyed being in this guys head. He has a freaking dirty dirty mouth and hearing him going through denial for his feelings for Mac made for some great entertainment.

The only bad thing about having an alternative POV book is that it's recapping the story. You get a little more from Matt pre Mac and a little extra in the epilogue.

Enjoyed this book and I think it can be read as a stand alone but I liked Mac and the things that went through her head.

Matt was a dick throughout most of the story and if I was Mac I would have punched him in the face lol. But we all love the asshole that finally shows his soft side and this book didn't disappoint. Will definitely read more from this author
