Hunting a killer is easy. Learning to love is hard.

Josephine 'Jo' Rayburn has no luck with love. Between the demands of her job as a homicide detective, finding the perfect yarn for her knitting projects, and her nosy family, she doesn't have time to find her happily ever after, nor does she really believe it exists. Until she's assigned to the Gravedigger task force where she meets Rhysian 'Rhys' Harrison, the sexy Coroner's assistant.

Rhys Harrison thought he had found love with the perfect woman. But his parents' deaths forced him to choose between his fiancée and caring for his brother, he chose his brother. His only regret, the medical degree he abandoned to work in the Coroner's office. When the Gravedigger leaves his latest victim at the gates of a cemetery, Rhys and Jo are thrown together, her prickly personality interests him, but it's her deeply hidden romantic side that captivates him.

After one of the task force members is shot, Rhys's fears of losing Jo, like he's lost so much already, threaten to rip them apart. Can she convince him that love is worth having no matter the risk? Or will he play it safe, leaving before his heart becomes too attached?

I'm a geek, a gamer, a music lover, and a voracious reader. I love Star Trek and B-grade movies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Sharknado. I enjoy figuring out software and learning new things and applying them to whatever book I'm currently working on.

I write romantic adventures. I live vicariously through my characters. I can be a knife-wielding forager who saves her family from deadly kidnappers or a slinky thief who must outmaneuver her sadistic cousin. My male characters aren't cookie-cutter either. There's so much diversity in the world that one size does not fit all. It's the same for love. My male characters range from he-men, alpha types to nerds in glasses who can kickass when needed whether in a board room or in a parking garage.

The one thing they all have in common is they are people who learn to move past their hurdles and find love.

This has suspense, but also has humor. I really enjoyed this story. Jo is a tough cop and they are looking for a man who digs up the bodies of women and then returns them later. Rhys works for the coroner's office and when Jo sees him, it is instant attraction on her part. On his, she isn't so sure. When Rhys sees Jo and her sister in the boxing ring, there is attraction. She is so different than anyone else. He has his little brother to take care of and has already lost a fiancée because of that and isn't sure if he wants to open his heart up again. But, Jo is different. Boy is she!

Detective Josephine 'Jo' Rayburn is a coffee loving knitting freak, and her wit is just on point in this book. She loves her family and will do anything for them, but they are also nosey and loud, but all have a good heart.

Rhysian 'Rhys' Harrison, was suppose to be a doctor, but after his parents died, he became the sole carer for his brother (he has learning disabilities) his fiancée didn’t want that responsibility and so he gave up his life and his career to look after him, so love is not high on his lust of priorities.

Murder/mystery/romance, what more could you ask for?
A witty, sassy female detective that took no rubbish from anyone and with a heart of gold. And a man that puts his family first. Neither looking for love, but find it in the most unlikeliest of places.
But can Jo make Rhys see her as more than just an acquaintance? She fancies him something rotten, but with a killer leaving bodies all over town, how can she make time for Rhys?
And can he finally have someone in his life that understands family commitments, can help look after his brother?

It all comes to a head when someone on Jo’s team gets injured! Rhys just can’t take the worry! So will he walk away? And if he does, what will Jo do?

I could see this easily as a tv series or a film. The attention to detail is good. The dialogue had me laughing one minute and then crying the next.
A great story, and I hope this is the start of many adventures for Jo.

Great police thriller

This story was not only a good detective thriller but also a good love story. Rhus and Jo were opposites yet it all worked out. Can't wait to read the next book and see what happens next.

This is the fourth book I've read written by CeeRee Fields; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the first book in the Rayburn Mysteries Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Jo & Rhys; she is a homicide detective; he works at the coroner’s officer.
