Starfinder Galaxy Guide is my first real dive into the world of Starfinder, and I’m completely hooked. As someone new to the setting, I expected to feel overwhelmed, but the way this book is structured made it incredibly easy (and fun) to explore.

What stood out to me most is how the guide organizes content by types of adventures. From a Dystopian setting to the Weird one, it gives you ideas on how to run each style and points you to specific planets and regions in the galaxy where they fit best. Even without any experience with the first edition, I never felt lost.

One thing I have to say is that it doesn’t include a lot of rules. This is a book for GMs who are more interested in lore than mechanics. It’s not essential, but it’s full of ideas—and for me, it really sparked my imagination.

I believe this was the first book released for Starfinder Second Edition. As such it had to serve as an introduction to the system as well as what had changed in the solar system since the first edition. Unlike many TTRPG companies, Paizo likes to advance the story of the world and change things up as time goes on.

However, the best part of the way this book is organized is that the first few chapters are based on the types of campaigns you might run - horror, science fiction, fantasy, weird, and so on. For each type of campaign, the writer suggests planets the GM might go to and some campaign starters whether it's for a one-shot or a long campaign. Just this section alone is worth getting this book.

After this is an overview of the different factions in Starfinder followed by a few extra ancestries.

A must-buy for anyone who wants to run Starfinder 2e campaigns.

This is a good book, but I wish it was a bit more of a primer for the worlds and history. Like the Lost Omen's World Guide from Pathfinder 2e. The book just feels a bit too shallow.
