Angel ̶I̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶w̶o̶n̶d̶e̶r̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶.̶ I hate Christmas, and to top it off, my parents have left me in charge of the family pub and guess what? I'm stuck working on Christmas Day. It’s set up to be the worst day of the year . . . Until Carter Hayes, my old English teacher, walks up to the bar. Is this the year I’ll fall in love with Christmas? Or worse… Him?
Carter ̶I̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶.̶ I want her. I've waited two years and I'm not waiting any longer. Angel O'Sullivan, my ex-student, hates Christmas, but I'm about to give her a taste of my Christmas, and once I do, Christmas will never be the same for her again.
4.5⭐️ 3.5🌶️ Okay firstly anything Poppy writes I’m going to eat it up!😍 this was such a cute SPICY novella🥵 Mr Hayes OH MY GOODNESS🤭 I have now grown a whole new appreciation for candy canes😮💨 I NEED more😭 the spice was definitely spicing😍 please tell me we get more of them🥹🤞🏼
Okay, first of all, I have to admit that the tropes in this book just aren't for me. I know some people will LOVE it, but for me the age gap was a little too much (mostly due to Angel being so young & inexperienced), I'm not into the student-teacher type vibe, and "daddy" makes my toes curl - and not in a good way.
That said, I can appreciate a good book, even if it's not my kind of thing. I'm pretty sure I signed up for an ARC purely because of the author and because it said "Christmas" in the title! I love PS. Black's writing style, and she definitely knows how to write a steamy scene. She even made it Christmassy, with tree lights and a candy cane...
It's a quick read, so things escalate FAST.
If you're into older, stalkerish/obsessive, dirty-talking guys, and don't mind a girl losing her v card to her ex-teacher, this one's for you. I know you readers are out there, and you'll never look at a candy cane the same way again.
Loved this , spicy age gap Christmas novella , carter is just delicious 😋 😍 the only thing I wasn't keen on is the use of the word "daddy" but putting that aside it was a great , easy and spicy read 🥰
This was such a fun, spicy & festive novella! How can one make stalking, possessiveness, and forbidden love so damn sexy? The festive smut was incredibly divine in this story, which means I can't wait for the next book! This was such a tease because by the end, I really want more of Mr. Hayes & Angel - like now! P.S. Black has easily become an autobuy author for me. If you are looking for a fun & spicy read, definitely give this one a go!
His Taste of Christmas by P.S. Black is a cozy and spicy holiday romance that delivers exactly what you’d expect: festive vibes, a touch of drama, and plenty of steam. It’s a quick, enjoyable read that’s perfect for curling up with during the holiday season. If you’re into age-gap romances with a hint of forbidden attraction, this one checks all the boxes.
The story centers on Angel O’Sullivan, who’s having a less-than-cheerful Christmas. Stuck running her family’s pub on Christmas Day, she’s just trying to get through the holiday when Carter Hayes, her former English teacher, walks in. This setup alone creates a spark of tension, there’s history there, and Carter clearly isn’t just stopping by for a pint.
Carter is such an intriguing character. He’s thoughtful, patient, and has clearly been holding onto feelings for Angel for a long time. There’s no pushiness or creep factor here, which is important for a romance like this. Instead, Carter comes across as genuine and deeply caring. He sees something in Angel a spark, maybe even a chance to help her rediscover some joy and he decides to take a risk.
Angel is equally compelling, though for different reasons. She’s not head-over-heels for Christmas (who can’t relate to that sometimes?) and comes across as real and relatable. She’s not overly sentimental or naïve, which I appreciated. Instead, she’s guarded and skeptical, especially when Carter makes his intentions clear. But that hesitation is what makes her character feel so grounded. When she does finally let her guard down, it feels earned.
The romance between Angel and Carter is the heart of the story. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the tension builds beautifully throughout. The forbidden element of their connection (former teacher/student) adds a layer of complexity without feeling inappropriate, it’s clear they’re two adults navigating their emotions and choices responsibly. That balance between tension and tenderness keeps the story engaging.
The holiday setting is just the cherry on top. The snowy small-town vibe, the warmth of the pub, and the undercurrent of Christmas magic make the perfect backdrop for a story like this. It feels cozy and festive, even if Angel isn’t exactly in the holiday spirit at the start. The setting pulls you in and makes the romance feel even more charming.
That said, the story does have its predictable moments. The plot doesn’t take any shocking turns, and while the characters are likable and well-drawn, they don’t have a ton of depth. But honestly? That didn’t bother me much. This is the kind of book you pick up when you’re in the mood for something light, fun, and a little steamy, it’s not trying to be anything more than that, and it delivers on what it promises.
P.S. Black’s writing style is smooth and easy to read, which makes this novella fly by. It’s a fast-paced story that doesn’t get bogged down in unnecessary details, keeping the focus squarely on the romance. At just over 100 pages, it’s perfect for a lazy afternoon or a quiet evening with a blanket and some cocoa (or wine, if you’re like me).
Overall, His Taste of Christmas is a solid pick for fans of holiday romances with a little heat. It’s not groundbreaking, but it doesn’t need to be, it’s a feel-good story with likable characters, steamy moments, and a festive setting that’s just right for the season. If you’re looking for a quick, enjoyable holiday read that mixes cozy vibes with a touch of spice, give this one a try!
I’d give His Taste of Christmas 3.5/4 stars if I could.
Hot teacher, a student that is now legal and a candy cane! Merry Christmas. Angel She’s 18. He’s the one that got her love for writing started. She had the biggest crush on him while she was his student. She thought that it would all blow over after she graduated, that was until she runs into him at Costco. Hayes He’s 40 and She has been taking over his thoughts since she was his student and it was inappropriate. But now she’s 18 and looking more attractive than ever. He tried to stay away but she will be his no matter what try’s to stand in his way.
“I don’t think there is a dr*g out there more intoxicating than Angel O’Sullivan. She’s an addiction I never want to lose and a fix I’ll crave for the rest of my life”.
I don’t typically read books with large age gaps. Especially not a 22 year gap. I enjoyed this book. A short Christmas novella. He is the obsessed MMC giving over major stalker vibes 😉. He has waited long enough to have his chance with her. She has not been able to stop thinking about her old teacher and when the chance to have him for one night comes. Who could ever pass up that opportunity.
She is anti Christmas, feeling as though all people care about is gifts and not the true meaning of Christmas. The question is will he be able to give her a new meaning of Christmas cheer?
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
I am struggling to rate this book - it was spicy, festive, cute, swoony but also, too short, too fractured..
We have an 18 year old FMC who has fantasies about her ex-english teacher, an 40 year old MMC who seems darker than what I was expecting and slightly unhinged for an english high school teacher. The romance begun 50% into the book, technically and although the smut was hot, the FMC had tried to speak to MMC and he blatantly ignores her until she says; STOP. I read dark romance, I like dark romance.. I expect deranged MMCs in these books. I was not expecting this in this book. It was a surprise, I liked it. Although I love Christmas and having the FMC hate it and a whole chapter dedicated to her opinion on Christmas ... Gutted me. The jump in timelines.. also, odd for me. I wanted a relationship to develop and it is possible in 100 pages - but this felt pushed or forced. I wanted to really like this - but I just liked it. It's an average read for me although I would recommend for people to read it. It's a spicy novella. It's got a nice lil bit of kink and possessive sentences for you to enjoy!
Thank you to @tasha_author_assistant for introducing me to this author and arranging for me to receive an advanced readers copy.
His Taste of Christmas was a different type of read for me but I enjoyed it all the same.
"Teachers claim they don't have favourite students but that's bullshit. Angel was always mine"
Angel hates Christmas and especially when she has been left in charge of the family pub...and she has to work Christmas Day of all days! Things are looking pretty gloomy for Angel until her old English teacher, Mr Hayes rocks up at the bar. She's had the biggest crush on him for the longest time. ̶ What Angel doesn't know is that Carter Hayes has been crushing on her hard as well.
Can they make it a Christmas to remember?
With some great tropes thrown in such as;
🔴Ex Teacher/ Ex Student ⚪Forbidden 🔴Age Gap ⚪Obsessed MMC 🔴Aims to please ⚪Quick Spicy Read
Warning - You may never look at a candy 🍭 cane the same way again without thinking of Mr Hayes.
I'd love these two characters to get a full book because this short read made me want to know more about their story and where it's going.
Excuse me ma’am ?! The spice was spicing with “daddy” kinks, candy canes and Christmas lights a plenty. A little bit dark and deranged for a teacher, it was still a cute, spicy, festive read. I do wish it was longer as it has great potential and I am looking forward to reading more about Carter and Angel.
“ I observe the customers around us and notice how joyful they all seem. Why don't people act like this all year long? Why do presents and decorations have the power to make everyone happy? Christmas has always irritated me for this exact reason. It seems artificial and excessively exaggerated. People often pretend to be happy even if they're not and they waste an absurd amount of money. I wouldn't necessarily use the word ‘hate’ to describe my feelings towards Christmas, but it’s all too much.”

Thank you @authorps.black for my early copy of His Taste of Christmas!!! I did a buddy read with my girl @bourques.book.reviews and we compared NOTES let me tell you 👀👀
First I would like to talk about my gripes, WHICH ARE: how dare you not make this longer, Poppy. I feel like you really teased me with Mr. Hayes and I need more and more and more asap!
Okay now moving on. I had so much fun reading this and talking about it with Stacey. The holiday season is popping off, baby!

Class is in session…So be a good girl and sit down 🧎🏻♀️➡️
🥃I absolutely fold for a good age gap, and even more if he’s her old professor. This is the perfect spicy novella just time for the holidays. It’s fast paced, naughty and sweet. 🥃Angel hates Christmas, and of course gets stuck running her parents bar over the holidays with her best friend who I thought was hilarious, she added such a balance of humour to the story. 🥃They both have been fantasizing about one another for the past few years and when they run into each other, it sparks an idea for Mr Hayes. He turns up at her parents bar & well things heat up. 🥃That whiskey scene girl I squealed🥃 Everything about these two is hot. The lights, candy cane, and that mouth of his. God…. Can we all get a Mr. Hayes for Christmas. 🥃Honestly this was such a good & fast spicy read. I thought that the 🌶️scenes were written very well, and the romance between them was undeniable. He turned her least favourite holiday into one to member, which made me swoon & sweat 🥵
Thank you so much for having be part of the team. This was so good, I really enjoyed myself. Can’t wait to read more from you ♥️

This novella would have been so much better if the FMC was not 18 (imo). If I pretended that she was college age he was her college professor or something like that I think I would have liked this one a bit more. I don't mind a 22 year age gap but 18 is barely legal and it gives me the ick. If some dude did this to me when I was 18? Straight to jail! lol.
That being said, it was still sexy and fun but who leaves their 18 year old daughter and her friend in charge of a bar over Christmas?
A couple of things, as noted above, turned me off a bit from this story but if I can suspend belief on these things, this was a hot, stalker-ish, holiday novella. That being said I had to go with 3 stars instead of 4 for this one.
Angel and Carter! Wow! The spice was perfect in this Christmas nouvella. I will smile and over heat ever time I see a candy canes and christmas lights for ever more!
I could have read so much more about Angel and her old school teacher. The chemistry between them is off the charts. Love Mr Hayes stalking and obsession of Angel.
You all need to read this when it releases on the 22nd November. You soon will be in the christmas spirit!
4 Stars! 3 Spice (half a star extra for the candy cane, maybe?)
It's a spicy Christmas novella that definitely let me wanting more of these characters.
Can I have Mr Hayes as my English teacher? I mean, I'm not at university currently but I'd enrol for him.
Carter and Angel, what a spicy pairing. Angel, then a 16yo school student lusting after her teacher, now a 18yo uni student who "randomly" bumps into Mr Hayes in Costco, the attraction is still there, AND it's reciprocated. Did I mention the age gap, Mr Hayes is now 40yo.
Not much to say. Pick this one up if you want a fun, quick, spicy Christmas book.
This book was so much fun. Mr. Hayes (Carter) and Angel were absolute spicy goodness!
🎅🏻Age gap 🎅🏻Ex-student/teacher 🎅🏻Obsessed MMC 🎅🏻Virgin FMC 🎅🏻SPICY
When Angel and her old high school teacher Mr. Hayes run into each other, the sparks and attraction is just as strong for her as it has always been! But what she doesn’t know is that he feels the same way.
This book was filled with so many odes to the Christmas holiday and so much spice! The chemistry between these two is off the charts and our man Mr. Hayes KNOWS 👏 WHAT 👏 HE 👏 WANTS 👏
This is a quick read, so I highly recommend you jump into this one for some spicy holiday fun!
Fun and spicy age-gap Christmas novella with a sprinkle of stalking and possessiveness.
Angel, who hates Christmas, is left to run her family’s pub over the holiday. And while out shopping she runs into Mr Hayes, her high school English Teacher that she’s had a crush on. Little does she know, he’s always been drawn to her too, and has now made it his mission to make sure she enjoys THIS Christmas, while including the only thing she actually likes about Christmas; candy canes.
Can’t wait to see what comes next for Angel and Carter.
Also, I want to call Mr Hayes “Daddy” too. 🤤

Steamy, fast romance with some taboo tropes but the story did pull you in.
There isn’t much build up with how short this story was but the history of these two main characters didn’t take much to explain. He is a little possessive and obsessive but she wasn’t put off because he has been the man of her dreams and fantasies for years too.
The way that he just takes when he wants once he see that she wants him too was perfect. She is very inexperienced but he shows her pleasure in many ways. Though you will never look at a candy cane and Christmas lights the same way again.
This Novella was a quick and easy read and I enjoyed it. I admit some of the tropes were new to me. But P.S. Blacks writing style was really the best part! She made it steamy and Christmas and honestly what more could you want?!
I give this book a 4.8 stars overall and 3/5 for spice. I really enjoyed how quickly I was able to finish this and I definitely feel more in the holiday spirit. Also I think I would like some candy canes all of a sudden!
I definitely recommend this book if the tropes and triggers suit your reading style!
This is a short and fast read. And I need more! His Taste of Christmas follows our grinch, Angel, during the holiday season. Working in her parent’s pub, she did not expect a certain someone to walk through the door.. Carter has waited long enough, he knows what he wants so makes it happen.
If I dont get my own Mr Hayes under my tree this year, then im not gonna be happy. Santa, I even promise Ill try and be nicer next year if he brings a jumbo Candy Cane too 😜 Oh the wicked things this man does and says, this is a great treat to get us in the christmas mood.
This age gap (22 years), ex-student x teacher, holiday novella was such a fun smutty read. It is a bit of a slower burn. There is mutually pining, but the first kiss between Angel and Mr. Carter Hayes doesn't happen until 58% in. Considering our FMC hates Christmas, once the smutt hits, it screams Christmas with an interesting use of christmas lights and a giant candy cane.
I loved the surprise at the end, and my only gripe is that this was not nearly long enough, and I really want more of these MC's
Well, this was a fun read. 😍 My Christmas spirits are on fire right now. 🧑🎄 The tropes were just my thing and the story was great. And it was so. freaking. hot. 🥵
As it is a novella I would guess it’s hard to get really deep into the characters, but I think it was well done anyway.
A super “festive”, short and spicy holiday read.
Tropes and stuff: ♥️Teacher x ex-student ⭐️Age gap (22 years) 🎄Holiday romance ♥️Obsessed MMC ⭐️Virgin FMC 🎄Novella 🌶️Spicy
This was a steamy and hot short story! The attraction between Angel and Carter/Mr Hayes was to cut through. Angel got a crush on her english teacher from her old school, Mr Hayes, and that made it difficult for her to talk to him, because of the crush. It didn’t take long for him to be aware of her crush and got him to notice her, and became attracted. She is 22 years younger than him, but it didn’t stop him. After waiting two years for her, he want to pursue her. Call me daddy thing was a bit cringey for me and gave me the ick. Sometimes I like it and sometimes not, but that is just my opinion.
I enjoyed reading this story and can’t wait to read more from this author
It’s Christmas, it’s forbidden, it’s smutty... and it’s absolutely ✨perfect✨!
Carter Hayes braved Costco at Christmastime just to run into Angel—he's that obsessed with her. SO dreamy! Angel was such a fun, low-drama FMC, and her friendship with Macey took me back to my early 20s.
This was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season - thank you so much to PS. Black for the ARC! 🎁
“Two years ago, I was meant to forget about Angel O’Sullivan; she was sixteen-year-old student. Now? She is an eighteen-year-old woman I have a serious obsession with that just keeps growing.”
This book is taboo, smutty and just a Christmas delight. I wished this book was a full length tbh, so I could experience the angst Poppy writes best. But overall a good time 🎄
I am not a huge novella fan but this book was just enough to get me into the holiday spirit! I’m also not into large age gaps especially with the teacher referring to her as a woman at the age of 16 which in the US is not legal age. Once I put aside the age factor and the very fast pace of this book, since it is a fast read, I did enjoy it.

Although this was only a short read i really enjoyed it Carter is a school teacher angel was his student and omg the chemistry, lust between these two is palpable. The teacher student concept don't end in school though
This book started slow but at around 38 percent i found i was devouring it and I read so fast.
