REVIEW -mature content reader discretion is advised. 4 STARS out of 5 Genre: New Adult Romance Full Review Posted on 2-17-14
When this book starts off my emotions are in complete shambles, I found myself much like Kylie... That strong girl that I grew to love is no longer. Instead Kylie is quietly masking her pain and I could feel it bleed off the pages.
Trace Corbin was bad for her. Bad for her heart, her body, and her career. She lost all sense of reason when it came to him. That wasn’t something she could afford to do in this business. -Kylie, Girl In Love
Series Recap In book one Girl with Guitar, we watch Kylie become a star after a video of her singing alongside country music’s bad boy Trace Corbin goes viral. She is then asked to join his tour with as his opening act. A tour that is already in progress by the way and has lost its other opening acts. Trace and his inability to stay sober long enough to actually give a damn is a big problem for everybody around him.
Long story short, things take a turn after Kylie becomes determined to not let him end her career before even it starts. Sparks ignite and the two become a couple.
In Girl On Tour, Kylie goes on her 2nd tour with Lily a 16yr old singer making big waves and Mia…The chick..well… I can’t tell you, you’ll have to read to find out exactly who she is. While Lily is sweet young and boy crazy, Mia is just a plain old beeyotch.
While Kylie is away she and Trace keep in touch with texts, phone sex and Skype. Everything is going good then BAM. Trace who is fighting to keep his career afloat is told he will be touring with Gretchen Wilson aka the female version of himself. And let’s just say things don’t go so well after that…
Music was her future. Nothing else really mattered. -Kylie
Girl In Love has Kylie solely focused on her music she takes no strides to have a life off the stage or outside of the recording studio. That witty ‘tell you like she means it girl’ is gone she’s been replaced by a shell of the girl Kylie used to be. She puts on like all is ok but underneath the mask NOTHING IS OK. And this broke my heart to read. Kylie was and will always be one of my favorite heroines so seeing her down hurt my core.
He saw her. She was different. Guarded. Less…something. -Trace
Trace picks up on it and slowly realizes he played a big part in her change. He wants nothing more than for her to be happy. To be the girl she once was. When these two find themselves having to work together they are tempted to pretty much jump each others bones on site. *GRINS*
“The truth is I want you so bad it hurts. I swear to God, if I ever get to hold you again, I will never let go. Ever. I want to be inside of you so damn bad. I fucking need to be inside of you.” She was quiet for so long that, if his eyes hadn’t adjusted to the dark and he wasn’t staring at her silhouette, he would’ve thought she’d left. What was it about whispered conversations in darkness that made people honest? -Trace to Kylie
Unfortunately both are hesitant for different reasons and as far as I’m concerned neither of their reasons are strong enough to resist all that good loving they can share with each other. *Clears throat* If you know what I mean. When the air finally clears of all the drama Trace and Kylie realize the only ones who can stop them from being together is Trace and Kylie.
“I’ll always come back.” The words had just slipped out without his permission.
My Sweet and Sour My Sweet – The epilogue, it was PRICELESS! I LOVED IT! My Sour – I felt there was too much drama not enough communication and that is not something I was expecting in book #3 of a series.
My Thoughts I have mixed feelings about the book overall I thought that it had way too much drama so many things could have been cleared up if these two would have just communicated. On the flip side I LOVE Kylie, Trace, Mia, Stephen and Rae! I would love a book for Mia or Rae, just sayin..
My Rating and Why I gave Girl In Love 4 STARS because even though I enjoyed it I felt it was missing something. Add in the total lack of communication which ensued due to that and I just could not see past it. It was too big for me to overlook, tack on well that just makes me more frustrated.
My Ratings Characters- Lovable Writing Style- Good Plot/Storyline- Reunited lovers Steam Factor- Medium/Steamy on a scale of 1- 10 I say 7 Overall- I enjoyed it! My Recommendation: I enjoyed this series and I recommend it to all NA lovers! Start with book 1 _ _ Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads! The minute this popped up on my kindle library, it owned my ass! There was no reading a few pages and coming back to it later. This was one of those cases where the rest of my night just faded into the background and my mind was lost to the beautiful torture that was Kylie and Trace’s love story. From the start of this series, I have adored these characters and waited excitedly for them to finally make it through the drama to the other side. Girl In Love, the third and final book in this unforgettable series, was an incredible wrap-up for their journey and I absolutely loved it from start to finish!
After Trace walked away and tore her heart out, Kylie was shattered. My heart was crushed right along with hers at the end of Girl On Tour, and she returns from his absence as a fraction of the woman she used to be. She’s guarding her heart like the crown jewels, and the new, the new, stronger Kylie was just awesome. She’d learned her lesson the hard way, and when their label wanted a co-headliner tour between her and Trace, she was determined to keep her chin up and her heart off limits.
After everything they’d been through together, the emotional turmoil between these two was palpable from the moment they saw each other again that first time. With beautifully descriptive narration, Casey Quinn makes you feel every bit of the pain that Kylie faces like a punch to the gut. My heart was racing every time Kylie had to face this man who’d ripped her to shreds, and Trace’s pain-filled thoughts had me falling for him all over again. Kylie had had to sit back and watch as Trace turned to Gretchen for support to get past his addiction, and when he walked back into her life she couldn’t overlook that. She had Steven as her own personal buffer zone, a friend with once partial benefits who could keep Trace at arm’s length so Kylie could deal with him being with someone else. There was a maze of misunderstandings and wrong assumptions riding on that tour bus with them, and they tried to navigate being around each other without letting the other know how much they were hurting. As much as I wanted to slap both of them upside the head for not communicating and just getting everything out in the open, all of that heartache kept me on the edge of my seat and my stomach tied up in knots as it played out. They were always meant to be together, and it was just a matter of time before they got past their roadblocks and figured it out for themselves!
I couldn’t have been happier with the way this beautiful love story ended, and after a long and painful ride we get the perfect epilogue that left me with a big goofy grin on my face. This truly was an outstanding series that I will never forget, and it’s one of my top recommends for the genre!
Quotes:
You’re crying because he’s not here to share this with you. Because all you want is to tell him about it. And for him to kiss you, congratulate you, and be proud of you. ~Loc 142
“Grief is like your favorite pair of old sweats. You get comfortable in them. So comfortable you don’t want to take them off even to shower. They’re worn in and fit just right and you never want to let them go, even when they’re stained and gross and have holes all in them.”~Loc 168
She wanted to roll her eyes. Deny it. Lie and say that she couldn’t care less. But she’d been consumed with feeling nothing for nearly a year. She was too tired to keep up the façade. ~Loc 280
“I might’ve been slightly intoxicated when I made this particular executive decision,” she whispered to her friend as discretely as she could. Lulu checked Steven out blatantly and nodded her approval. “Well…at least he’s nice to look at.” ~Loc 1455
For a few moments, he sat in silence, alone with his thoughts. Thoughts of calling his sponsor because he wanted a drink so bad he could taste it. But that wasn’t the want that was overpowering him. He wished they’d had rehab for Kylie Ryans addiction. He never would’ve left. ~Loc 1491
What an incredible journey. I'm happy and sad to see this series end, but it does so perfectly! Well done, Caisey, and thank you for letting me on this ride with you.
LOVED!! But I was HIGHLY disappointed that Gretchen got an HEA of her own. I don't think she deserved it, especially after all the crap she put into Trace's head and the drama she caused - and LOVED causing. I didn't find her turn-about realistic, sober or not. Otherwise, I loved this book and was so sad to see the Kylie Ryans series end! =(
First things first, no one gets killed off so it's a 5 star ;)
I adore Kylie Ryans. I fell head over heels in love with Trace Corbin. I majorly fan girl over Caisey Quinn on a daily basis. So it shouldn't be a surprise that I absolutely loved Girl in Love. It has easily become one of my favorites of 2014 and of all time.
When we first meet Kylie she was leaving her small town and her demon of a step mother behind. She was following her dream of moving to Nashville and getting noticed by an executive in the music industry. She was head strong, determined, she listened to her heart, she had that fire in her belly that had everyone rooting for her. This is not the same person that we see in Girl in Love. We see Kylie being very cautious, battling what her head and heart are telling her. Instead of living life she's robotically surviving, working herself and her crew to the point of exhaustion. She's trying to move on and get over Trace but her label, which is also Trace's, send them on tour together again and that puts all of Kylie's effort of moving on back to square one.
Which leads me to Trace.
Who could not love the extremely sexy, tight jean wearing Trace Corbin. I fell for him when we first met him in Girl with Guitar at the Rum Room. Even though Trace had his own demons he always put his sisters first and when he met Kylie he put her first as well. I was upset with him at the end of Girl on Tour but he redeemed himself in Girl in Love. Trace was bettering himself in Girl in Love, making decisions that would give him a better future- a future he hoped to share with Kylie. Trace lets it be known from the beginning that he still loves Kylie. In the previous books Trace always thought less of himself but we saw Kylie continuously reassure him that he is one of the most kind, giving, loving men that walk the earth. In Girl in Love Trace realizes that he his worth more than dirt and fights harder to win Kylie's heart back. We may have fallen in love with Trace before but my heart practically exploded with Trace love, he loves fiercely and makes sacrifices for the people he loves. No Trace isn't perfect but he is pretty darn close.
I swear Caisey Quinn should win a CMA award for this series alone. I only recently (late 2013) started reading her books and was addicted before I finished the first book. I could read her books over and over and still feel all the same emotions throughout. Her writing will have you feeling all different emotions and feeling like you're the character in the story. As I've said before I fangirl over Caisey constantly and can go on and on about what a wonderful person and talented author she is. She definitely put her heart and soul into a Girl in Love, like with her other books, and it shows.
Girl in Love closes a series where in the first two books the characters steal your heart and the story keeps you so invested that you need to continue reading until the very last page. Girl in Love is absolutely no exception. In fact, I think this book will have you more invested because everyone wants to know if Kylie gets her HEA and if Trace gets his and if they get their HEAs together. Caisey Quinn keeps us on the edge of our seats, gripping our iPads, kindles, Nooks, etc. to find out those answers but it was one heck of a ride getting there. I would most definitely urge you to buy this book, it's a solid 5 star and a CMA award winning type book that you'll love.
From start to finish, this series has been a favorite. Caisey Quinn has kept the pace strong and well-developed -- never giving less than the best. The characters stole the show the moment they stepped on stage and delivered a perfect performance, while overcoming some difficult situations and staying strong throughout. The dialogue is memorable and the secondary cast only enhanced the depth and quality of these books. And last but certainly not least -- the romance sizzles and burns -- a winning combination for this reader.
I was really disappointed with the third book... This review includes some spoilers...
Kylie...
SERIOUSLY!!! She was an annoying little teenager...She caused way too much drama in this book. I really almost hated her....
First off... her crazy assumptions about Trace. Why couldn't she just ask him about Gretchen...or why hadn't anyone mention the truth??? How annoying was it when things were about to be resolved and a twist/drama dropped out of nowhere...
Second...her stupid games!!! What the hell was Kylie doing with Steven???!!! The whole Steven, Kylie and Mia dynamic was WEIRD. Kylie was using Steven...not using Steven???
Third...
The only reason I gave this book 3 stars was because TRACE was really amazing. He really was....
He does everything to get Kylie back... Kylie seriously does not deserve Trace... but in a way I'm glad they got their HEA after all that drama they went through...
I don't know how I ended up loving Kylie to hating her... It's mind boggling... I was expecting so much more from this book... :(["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
4.5 to 5 stars. From the first page until the last, Girl in Love is a roller coaster ride of emotions. I'm happy and sad at the same time, as a series I love with characters who are real comes to a perfect end. The journey from the first page to the last is an experience of first love, tortured hearts, and second chances.
This book picks up with the aftermath of Trace's exit and Stephen's entry into Kylie's world. Let the heartache begin, and boy, does it ever! The agony of wanting Trace and Kylie to talk to each other and work through things was consuming me! I was on edge throughout most of my reading, and just when I thought the author was giving me what I wished for, *yank* she pulled the rug out from under me...again. Of course, that made me love this book all the more. The experience, the emotions, the build up, and the anticipation of how the Kylie, Trace, and Stephen triangle would play out had me reeling. Not to mention Gretchen still hanging around in the background. My heart was on standby for an attack more than a few times.
Trace Corbin...I didn't think I could love this guy any more! I loved him before and even got angry with him and felt bad for him in the previous installments, but he absolutely took hold of my heart and held it in his guitar strumming hands. His love for Kylie was crushing and powerful.
He still has his demons to fight and is haunted by the past in his nightmares, but he has overcome so much. His misplaced guilt and the thought of Kylie having moved on with his nemesis has nearly broken him, but he isn't broken enough not to "throw his hat in the ring" and fight for what's his. *shivers*
I LOVED the Trace we got in this installment! He's still throwing the sexual innuendos, but he has so much heart. His secrets surrounding his absence and Gretchen are revealed in this book, and what secrets he has! Can I ever get enough of this man? I don't think so! His humbleness is one of the things I love most about Trace. He finds himself doing things for Kylie he swore he would never do.
Kylie has made the big time in the country music circuit, and her career dreams are coming true, but she isn't very happy. The tables have turned and while Trace is out of rehab, Kylie has picked up the drinking pace to numb her pain and give her false courage. I understood Kylie's sorrow, but I also wanted to just shake her sometimes....or was it the author I wanted to shake for putting me through such agony? Kylie is so broken-hearted that she can barely function and is willing to try anything to relieve her pain of missing Trace.
Kylie is a changed woman in this book. She's surrounded her heart with walls of steel and is thinking first for a change. Every thought is calculated before voiced, and every move is an escape...or self-preservation. She's no longer the hot head that Trace knew. She just wants to move on in the hopes of forgetting Trace and without attachments.
I did NOT want to like Stephen. I wanted to hate him, in fact, because I am a die-hard Trylie fan. But the author developed his character in such a way that I couldn't help but like the tattooed rocker and be happy with his presence. I actually felt bad for the guy as he fought through his own problems.
There are several moments in the book that had me cringing in fear that my heart would be obliterated. The fighting and lack of communication between Trace and Kylie had my heart breaking. I found myself wanting to rush the story that was holding me captive awaiting an outcome that wouldn't have me crying in my sleep. But, the waiting and anguish were part of the journey, and I wouldn't have missed this journey for anything.
Caisey Quinn has ended this series with a beautiful bang. From agony and misunderstandings to preservation and possession, Girl in Love has everything wrapped in a heart-pounding package with an angsty little bow on top. The book is well written, the story closes nicely, and the epilogue gives us a glimpse into the future from Kylie's viewpoint. If you are a fan of Trylie, you'll definitely want this one on your shelf. If you haven't read this series, it is certainly one of my favorites, and the books are meant to be read in order.
Thank you to the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Addiction. Obsession. Loss of Control. No, not drugs. Caisey Quinn's writing. I can't get enough. Need more. It makes my brain happy. You know that part of your brain that feeds addiction? Mine needs more Caisey Quinn.
This is the 3rd in the Kylie Ryans Series. You must read the first 2. Not just to be caught up on the series to read the 3rd book...no just in general. You MUST read the first 2.
Kylie Ryans is an up and coming country star. She has been on a tour, had #1 hits, and had her heart broken by Trace. She is trying to figure out how to move forward. She has some great friends that try to help. The best way to get over someone? Get under someone else. Maybe she should try that.
Tell me something. If I take you back to my place tonight, if we do things to each other that you've never even said out loud, who will you be thinking of in the morning? Me? Or him?
Trace has come of out of rehab for his alcohol addiction. He is walking a thin line with his record label. Trace is not a good risk right now. He has had bad publicity, a bad rep and needs to get back on the charts. He knows he wants Kylie back but doesn't deserve another chance with her. After all, he was the one who walked away.
He wished they'd had a rehab for Kylie Ryans addiction. He never would've left.
Their label wants them to go on tour together. Be on a bus together. For months. Sleep just feet away from each other. There is no way Kylie can let that happen. Its dangerous. Dangerous for her mental health.
This was one of those moments where the whole story that was her life could go in a direction she's never expected.
This third book brings together all the friends, frenemies and just plain enemies. There are some secret loves, cheating non-boyfriends, sexy sound checks, crazy-mean step moms, family emergencies, dancing on tailgates, hospital waiting rooms, tabloid headlines, yelling, crying and drinking. Just like a great country song.
And lots and lots of Oh So Sexy Trace. Tight pants, trucker hat, plaid shirt wearing Trace...
Condition number two. Ryans, so help me, if you so much as glance in my direction with that come-fuck-me look one more time, you better be ready to follow through.
Oh Trace, I am going to miss you so much. But we do get a good epilogue. And I do love a good epilogue. And if you are a fan of country music or just good music, you will love the song lyrics. So good. They are radio ready.
And speaking of ready...I am ready for my next Caisey Quinn Fix. Waiting impatiently. Addiction is so ugly.
I am so sad this series is over, its a definite bitter sweet for me. I have loved this country journey with Kylie and Trace. I am a HUGE country loving romance ADDICT, like SERIOUSLY give me a country boy, cowboy or boy in flannel and I will swoon, drool, sigh all over the place. Its just in my DNA. So this is one of the reasons I fell hard for this series, that and it was fabulously written.
Girl in love gave me everything I needed. The journey, the triumphs, the hard times, the SHIT STORMS and the sweet love of two people who were JUST meant to be together. The tension between these two throughout the book was priceless, you never knew is Kylie was going to knee Trace in the balls or tackle his ass to the ground and swallow him hole. There were times I was screaming at my book, yes we all do this, I was so shocked and infuriated on many occasions. I did grow to like Steven and was shocked how much I truly liked him, he turned out to be a pretty decent guy. He helped Kylie through a hard time, made her open up her eyes and truly see what she needed to see.
I love Trace Corbing, he knows what he wants and takes what he wants. He might be an idiot at times, but he is an idiot I love to love. He made a stupid mistake that he paid for and is making up for at the same time. When Trace steels something from Kylie on stage, my heart just melted into a MILLION pieces, from then on out, I knew... I just knew...
When the accident happens, I wonder what it would do to Trace and his Psyche, he has been through so much, would he fall off the wagon, will he push everyone away. He is such an amazing strong character who has endured so much and accomplished so much in his lifetime, a true work horse. How could you not fall in love or forgive this man... Thank GOD Kylie does.
When Trace and Kylie go back to the bar that started it all for open mic night, this is the game changer, what changes it all... the song that Trace sings, for Kylie, he put his whole heart and sould into those lyrics and knocked it out of the park. Caisey did a wonderful job writing this series. I feel like I know each and everyone of these characters personally. Now I just need a CW show about these books and I think my life would be complete lol
One of my FAVORITE SCENES from the Book:
"Can you just grab whatever you forgot and go on back to Macon? I'm really not in the mood for this right now." "Okay. I'll do that then." "Without warning, Trace leaned down and lifted her off the bed. Before she had time to say a single word in protest she was upside down over his shoulder and they were bounding off the bus. "Pants," She squealed. "Trace, Im not wearing any pants!"
Caisey Quinn you have done it again! I’m a sucker for anything country: guy, boots, music … you name it! Oh, & how I <3 Trace Corbin! I think I might need to shout that from the rooftop!
I was lucky enough to get to meet Caisey this weekend in Nashville, and in doing so I got an ARC of Girl in Love. Needless to say that in less than 24 hours it was read, but with that I’m a sad puppy… the end of a series.
Girl in Love is the third book in the Kylie Ryans series. It picks up right where Girl on Tour stops, and boy does this one play with your heart! Girl with Guitar pulled you in hook, line, and sinker; Girl on Tour made you have a love/hate relationship with Kylie… Trace… and a few others. Girl in Love is EXACTLY that… all about LOVE! The question is with who? Because if you have read book 2, you know who might be in the picture.
Girl in Love isn’t just about Kylie finding her dream guy, it’s about really finding herself and being able to let go of the past, look toward the future, and living in the present.
Girl in Love is the perfect ending to the Kylie Ryans series. It will have you in tears, your heart beating out of your chest, praying for understanding, and a look into a future that gave me goosebumps and tears! This series is def one for the record books, and at the top of my favorite series of all times!
Now this is the way to end a trilogy! Trace solidifies his place at the top of my book boyfriend list, Kylie remains a girl worth rooting for, and I'm left wishing I had both their albums. Heart and down home authenticity flavor every page, and the lyrics woven throughout make this series a true standout. They are that good, and more then reflect the characters' arcs, the songs enhance them.
The perfect blend of sass, wit, and poignant relatability, Kylie and Trace will have you cheering, grinning, and squirming until you reach the satisfying ending. So sad to see this beloved series end, but I'm looking forward to what Quinn has planned next.
(Dare I hope it involves a music career? Dang, girl, I want to download these songs!!)
You know when you start reading a book, and you just kind of stay in that same uncomfortable position because you’re unsure if it will grab you? And then you have those types of books that make you stop everything you’re doing just to make sure you’re comfortable for the long haul because there’s no way in hell you’re going stop reading. This is that book. THIS is that series! Ever since Girl with Guitar I have been 100% invested in this series, I’m in love with these characters, and my heart ached for them to come full circle. This beautifully written conclusion to the Kylie Ryans Series will pull your heart 8 different ways, and at any given moment you’re unsure of just which way that is. But I will say this, my heart is whole & completely satisfied.
When we first met Kylie Ryans in Girl with Guitar she was a witty, feisty, full- of-life little spitfire with dreams bigger than the sun, and a heart open and willing to love. Kylie is hands down one of my favorite Book Girlfriends ever! She says it like she means it, but not in a bitchy way. She’s just modestly confident. And going through this journey with her was such a surreal thing as a reader. You actually get to see all of the facets of emotions she goes through and the growth and strength she continues to have regardless of the hurdles that are thrown her way. In this third book she’s lost a little of herself, she’s not the same she was before, and trust me you can feel it come through the pages. For those who have read the first two books, you know the reason for this is none other than Trace Corbin.
Trace Corbin Just about killed me in Girl on Tour. I was never mad at him though. It was more of a disappointed feeling more than anything. The fact that he didn’t want Kylie by his side during his rehabilitation was just foolish pride I believe. I know he cared for her deeply, and that in his own mind, he was making the right decision for the both of them. And I find that admirable in him. This is why Girl in Love will pull at your heart. In Kylie’s head he didn’t trust the relationship enough to have or want her by his side. She felt unloved, unappreciated and abandoned by Trace. Trace basically wanted to do right for himself so that he could be the kind of man Kylie deserved and needed. This is where everything gets all screwed up, and the true guts of the story will put a slow lingering burn inside of you throughout this whole book!
Caisey Quinn does an amazing job of fueling your heart with her love potion just a little at a time. Just the tiniest of drops here and there. Just enough to keep you wanting more. The build up and angst in this book is phenomenal, and to be honest I wouldn’t want it any other way. I just want it to keep going forever and ever.
The whole time I was reading this book I just wanted Kylie and Trace to get their crap together straight away! But that would be boring and dumb I guess. Instead you get this heart wrenching, sweet & sour, head scratching-ly good story about love and forgiveness and acceptance. And it’s beautiful how it all comes together. I probably cried way too many times throughout this story, for both good and bad reasons. But that is probably because this series ending is so bittersweet for me. If you haven’t read the series do it now! You won’t be sorry. The biggest surprise for me was the transformation Trace made. Which I ultimately think wasn’t that big of a change. I believe the man he needed to be has always been inside him, and I truly think his biggest addiction will always be Kylie. Like I said before, so many people were mad at him after Girl on Tour. And after reading book #3 I think he is probably one of the most stand-up dudes I have read. It takes a lot for a man to do the ACTUAL right thing. And he does. And my heart is still swollen from this damn book! Just go read it!
I have loved Trace and Kylie since the beginning. One thing I have adored about this series is the fact that it focuses on Nashville and country music. After how Girl on Tour ended, I thought I was going to want to junk punch Trace in this one, but I didn't. If anything I just wanted to squeeze him!
Kylie has everything she has ever wanted.. well almost. She is out there singing her heart out, making music. Fulfilling her dreams. But she is still left empty. Within all her success something, someone is still missing. I can't say I blame her for being upset with Trace, but in the same breath I am so proud of him for getting the help he needed. I feel like these two just needed to communicate! Communication is key! I love Kylie Lou but man that girl is stubborn!!However I am glad to see the way Caisey handled their issues, I am so happy she didn't just gloss over everything. She made these two work through it, instead of pretending there was never a problem. That alone is why she is one of my favorite authors. She makes it authentic as possible.
I am sad to see these two go. I enjoyed their story. The ups, the downs, the high and the lows. Trace and Kylie's story teaches you that love does conquer all, but it is also work. You have to communicate. Beautiful ending to an amazing series! Once again well done Caisey Quinn.
Mostly this one felt like a huge disappointment for me. I loved the first two books so much!!! Loved both Kylie and Trace, loved the road they took, felt their pain and just loved the story. I love saving books that I’m excited about so I will turn to them when I need a great book. I saved this one for quite some time. It wasn’t an easy thing to do the way the last one ended!!! But to be honest, I pretty much hated most of it!!! didn’t like both Kylie and Trace in this one. Kylie was acting very unlike character (I won’t say what she did because it’s a spoiler) in a way that made me angry!!! What was she thinking? Where is the strong, clear girl we all knew and love? I hated this twist in the plot and I do not think it was necessary for the story. And Trace? Didn’t like the way he was acting also. As I see it , all of this was his fault, all!! None was her’s, so man up and take responsibility for your actions!!! Why acting like a stubborn child when all of this crazy situation is because of you??? I just kept going since it didn’t feel right to just leave it half way but the truth is I kind of wanted to dump it.
This picks up Kylie and Trace' s story one year on from the end of Girl on Tour. Trace is out of rehab and Kylie is now a successful country music star. Even though they end up sharing a tour bus early on, it seems to take a very long time for them to get back together. He thinks she's with someone else, she thinks he's with someone else, they row lots...yawn. I was ready for them to reconcile much earlier than they did, I was beginning to get a little bored with the carefully timed interruptions and misunderstandings. At least my inner twelve year old was amused by the name of his charity - 'A hand up'. *snorts* This has been a good series, but a bit repetitive at times - shortened to two books would've made for a better paced story I think.
This is the first book from Caisey Quinn and it won't be the last. I really liked the story. Despite not ways agreeing with the characters choices and behaviour I generally invested in their hea. I haven't Read the previous books in the series, but still, could follow the story easily. We could feel their struggles, their romance stars with tension and earning, but eventually it sizzles and burn. 100% recommend Free on ku
**If you have not read Girl with Guitar and/or Girl on Tour then you MUST! Reading this review may contain spoilers for the first two books in this series**
It is rare for me to like the third book in a trilogy better than the first two but Caisey Quinn has done it! I LOVED Girl in Love! Hands down this was the BEST of the series and hell, this just may be the best book in 2014!
Sitting here trying to write up this review is like reliving the book all over again and I am getting all emotional. Why? I guess it is because I am so attached to these characters that I feel that once I write this review the experience of Trace and Kylie will be over (I get weirdly attached to fictional characters, I know) and I am not ready to let go. Caisey Quinn did a beautiful job of taking these characters through realistic situations and I could honestly read about them forever (Girl in Retirement Home, anyone?). However, the silver lining is even if Kylie Ryans' journey is over, Caisey Quinn's is not and I KNOW we will be getting bigger, brighter and amazing things from this author in the future!
When reading a series like this one it is important not to get spoiled by reviews or blurbs, so I will do my best to keep things neutral and unspoiled for you all. Girl in Love took me on such an emotional journey that at times I wanted to shake my Kindle, eat my feelings in chocolate and hug everyone. My heart was in my throat for most of this book and tears were always close to the surface and several times they spilled over. I found that I was holding my breath waiting (and hoping) and then getting super frustrated with these characters, but I could not stop reading this story! I had several responsibilities that were ignored or quickly done because I could not resist the pull of this book! I am not one to skip ahead in books, but I was SUPER tempted to skip to the last chapter to make sure I got the ending I wanted (I didn't, I resisted so you MUST resist too).
Caisey Quinn, I might owe you an apology. There may have been times when reading Girl on Tour and Girl in Love that I didn't trust you to know what was best for Kylie, but I was wrong and you wrote this story the only way it could truly ever be written. So I am sorry I might have cursed at you under my breath or begged you to leave them alone, you knew what you were doing all along and I will trust your author judgement from now on.
If you are wanting to read a book that will knock you for a loop and really show you that love truly does survive, grow and heal, then you are going to fall in love with Girl in Love! I want to reach through the internet and hug Caisey Quinn to thank her for writing such a beautiful story, that was so moving my tears came from not only heartbreak but, hope and joy. Please, Caisey, never stop writing.
I loved this series and Girl in Love not only did a great job wrapping up the trilogy, it made this emotional journey a trip I would take time and time and surpassed even my high expectations (which were ridiculous). Go read this today, you won't be sorry! (and if for some reason you read this review and haven't read the other books in this series you MUST go get them all now and have a Trace/Kylie reading marathon this weekend)
Kylie Ryans is one lucky girl. Her biggest dream has come true. She is Nashville’s darling at the height of her game. She should be so happy… she should be on top of the world… she should be right? Here’s the thing, Kylie is still suffering from the abandonment of every man she has ever loved. Her father is gone and Trace walked away without looking back so she throws herself 110% into her music. She writes an album full of heartbreaking love’em and then get left by ‘em songs and spends all her time in the studio hiding. Try as she may she can’t seem to recover from the tornado that was Trace Corbin that ripped through her life. He left her in the dust because he didn’t think she was strong enough to handle or understand his problems at least not like Gretchen could. She has built walls so high that no one can reach her. Not her friends, not a man who would love nothing more than to help her get over Trace once and for all. Can she let someone else in? Someone who could help her forget?
Trace Corbin is one lucky guy. He is out of rehab and getting back to his family, fans and his music. He has a new lease on life and a chance to get his career back on track. He should be excited… he should be on top of the world… he should be right? Here’s the thing, Trace is recovering. Not cured… recovering. He has to fight to stay sober. He has to avoid triggers that make him want to lose himself in the numbness the bourbon offers. He fights with his demons and his guilt over the past daily. Soooooo … lets just send him on tour with the one person who really pushes his buttons and while were at it lets include the cocky tatted up musician she is currently dating for good measure. Geez… how will he survive this without drinking or beating the slimy boyfriend within an inch of his life? (Side Note: I have to say that I think the author handles the serious subject of addiction and how it affects not just you but all the people in your life very well. It is hard to love an addict. It is hard to believe they have changed and it is hard to love them through their recovery. Caisey Quinn conveys this without glossing over it or taking the story to an emotionally dark place. It is truly brilliant storytelling and the mark of a great writer.)
Girl in Love was a fabulous ending to the journey we have taken with Kylie and Trace. I think the series paints a very believable picture of what life on the road is like for big stars. How the media, jealous peers, your own self doubt and secrets can skew your perception and hurl your life so out of control you don’t even recognize yourself when you look in the mirror. Kylie grows up so much in this book. She is not the girl from GwG anymore. She lost a little of her fire along the way and it is awesome watching her find it again. Trace grows too. He seems to put everyone else’s happiness and well being ahead of his own. Can they move past all the hurt they have caused each other, all the lies they have told and other have told to find their way back to each other? God I hope so.
Oh and did I mention the sexual tension in this book. Good heavens I thought I was going to have to dowse myself with ice water a few times. That Trace Corbin is one sexy man. *Sigh* Now I am going to go cry into a bowl of rocky road to console myself that the series is over.

What an exceptional ending to an amazing series! I have been anxiously waiting for this book to see what happens between Kylie and Trace. Throughout this series, readers have witnessed Kylie’s rise to fame as well as Trace’s fall; we have seen them fight their attraction to one another and finally give in to their desires. We have watched them struggle to be a couple with all of the pressures of stardom as well as the difficulties of fighting an addiction. Now, with Girl in Love, it’s time to see if Kylie and Trace’s love is strong enough to work their way back to each other despite all that they have been through.
The ending of Girl on Tour about did me in when Trace walked away from Kylie without telling or giving her even a hint of his love for her, and Girl in Love picks up right where Girl on Tour ends. The title itself gave me hoping going in to the final book, but if I have learned anything through book series, expect the unexpected, and Girl in Love is no exception to that rule.
When Trace finally gets out of rehab, he surprises Kylie on her birthday, but he is the one who is caught off guard, and he leaves quickly with a heavy heart. Months go by and work is all that keeps Kylie going. She feels empty and broken and refuses to put herself out there again because she doesn’t want to experience that pain again, and more importantly, she is still in love with a man who she believes never loved her. But fate is a fickle thing, and soon, Kylie finds herself back where it all began – on tour with Trace. Will this time be different for them? Can Kylie get over the past and trust that Trace, this time, will guard her heart?
Girl in Love is an emotional journey about self discovery, self worth, and redemption. The title has multiple meanings – Kylie learns to love herself and her life, and she teaches Trace that he is deserving of her love. Love comes with so many emotions, and Caisey Quinn does a fantastic job of expressing those sentiments through her characters and their storylines, and her readers feel those sensations as well as they wait with bated breath for the ending that we have been waiting for since book one. Thank you, Caisey, for an amazing series and an ending that was brilliantly written!
Most of have probably been a girl in love at some point. The thing about love is it can make us see in technicolor or it can blind us completely. It can make you feel bliss or the worst pain you'll ever experience. Unfortunately, loving one person usually leads to all the feels, good and bad. Kylie and Trace are perfect example of this.
I could understand at the end of Girl On Tour that Trace needed to get help for his alcohol addiction but it was maddening that Gretchen had to go with him. I mean I'm all for her getting help too for the sake of her son but Trace could have at least prepared Kylie with a heads up. Now at the start of Girl in Love it's been nine months since he walked away. Kylie has done her best to keep moving forward. Despite her broken heart she has an album that has gone platinum. She's getting to fulfill her dreams of a music career but what good is it if she has no one to share it with. Her wicked step mother continues to be a source pain as she tries to mooch off of Kylie's success and dishonor the memory of Kylie's father.
What I don't understand is why someone from Trace's team of people or even his sisters have not kept Kylie up to date with the truth about Trace. What we have here is a failure to communicate that is not resolved until Kylie and Trace lose almost everything. I totally blame Gretchen. She could everyone a lot of heart ache if she had just come clean with her side of the story. But nooooooo, that selfish bitch just sat back and watched as Kylie and Trace's lives fell apart.
At least Kylie has her best friend Lulu and now Mia and Lily from her recent tour to help keep her from drowning in depression. I was confused and frustrated by her relationship with Steven. He's easy to love but I couldn't figure out for the longest time if he and Kylie were actually having sex. That had potential to just ruin everything for me. Consider yourself lucky Caisey Quinn. You dodged a big one this time.
I love that Kylie and Trace weren't the only ones finding love this time around. I'm hoping it means there will be character spin-off books. Quinn closes the Kylie Ryans series with warm and tingly HEA. I mean seriously, I had chills reading the last paragraph. Thanks Caisey. Trust me, this is a must read series.

Sigh. Oh Trace Corbin. At the end of Girl onTour I was doubting my love for all things Trace Corbin. But in this book. Trace surely redeems himself in my eyes. This book was a book, a journey of redemption and proof. Redeeming yourself after hurting someone. Proving your enough for someone. Proving you're better because of them. Proving your better for them. Proving that your love is the only thing that matters. It's what can overcome and conquer anything in your path. I absolutely loved this book. I loved that Trace fought for her. Finally admitted to himself and everyone how much he loved. Finally proved it to her. Finally got her to see it. I was so afraid she would never thaw, never let him back in, never let her guard down, never open her heart back to him. And Kylie was so different. She had changed so much. I didn't know if she would thaw. If she would go back to the old Kylie. She wouldn't go back to the one you fell in love with who holds nothing back and says what's on her mind. Instead we have zombie Kylie. She just kept pushing and I felt almost like she was breaking her own heart. If she just would have talked to him. If they would have just talked. Gah! Just talk to each other!! But nooooo. They couldn't clear the air could they? If only.. Then there wouldn't have been so much hurt. Heartbreak. It could have healed faster. Sigh. But Trace. In this book showed how much he has changed for her. The steps he had taken for them. For her. This book made me fall back in love with all things Trace Corbin. I love the journey that Kylie and Trace take in this book. My heart broke for them. My heart leaped for them. My heart healed with them. My heart raced for them. Caisey Quinn does it again. Caisey delivers in leaps and bounds. She breaks your heart and is so sure to heal it and make it swell with love and pride throughout this book. I can't say enough good things.
Girl in Love picks up a year after Girl on Tour left off. After Trace left Kylie and walked hand in hand with Gretchen to rehab. Trace is now out and trying to revive his career while maintaining his sobriety. Meanwhile, Kylie's career has blown up. But she's still lonely and miserable without Trace. I thought it was a little unbelievable that a 20 year old girl still couldn't move on a year after a breakup. I was hoping that she would move on to Steven, even if just for a little while. At first I was on Kylie's side. She was the one left behind after all and I thought Trace had no right to be jealous or have any expectations of her. But their year apart hardened Kylie, which she needed to survive the music business, but she also turned into a not-so-nice, demanding diva, even if it wasn't intentional. So the more stubborn she was about staying away from Trace the more I veered to his side. I kept reminding myself that she's only 20 years old but anytime someone tried to talk to her she would shut them down and stomp off. It drove me nuts. She also made Trace's decision to check into rehab all about her, how he left her and I didn't like that.
Gretchen said it best, "Look, I know he thinks that impulsive thing you do where you make big dramatic exits without stopping to hear anyone out is real cute. Me, not so much. Personally I find you immature and annoying."
And he does love her. Trace still wants Kylie desperately but misunderstandings and not communicating keep either of them from reaching out. But they still share the same record label so when they have to go on tour together again to help save Trace's career they are forced to confront their feelings. I thought this book was good, the ending was great I just wish they got their act together sooner.
Oh my.....I am really sad this ride is over. I LOVED every minute of this series I could shout it to the roof tops! The duel point of view was wonderfully written so the entire series flowed seamlessly. You know that feeling when something is sooooo good that you lay awake at night wanting to read more and you don't want to sleep because you will probably just dream about it? Well that is exactly how this series was for me. Caisey writes her characters so real you feel them jumping off the pages and making place in your home so you can watch the story all play out in front of you.
I am not good with words and usually do not write very many if any lengthy reviews, but I just thought Caisey deserved something even if it is you are AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL and I can't wait for what you have in store next! I think I may just start my stint in Second Chance Ranch now because I am sure in a couple of hours I will be having withdrawal from an addiction called CaiseyQuinnWrites!
