After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye.
It’s true.
Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line.
My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied.
I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you.
I love to hear from my readers and answer all communications personally. You can find me at:

Venom 2.0 ! Yes Please! *possible spoilers*

I absolutely loved the first generation of the Vegas Venom series. It was the start of my all consuming obsession with the hockey romance genre. I was very excited to see the notification that Neon & Nets was available. I stopped midway through the book I was reading to dive back into the smart, funny & spicy world of Venom Hockey. Starting the series out with the sweet friends to lovers story of Sofia and Night hit the right tone as a first book in this new series. Night is giving big golden retriever energy and that is exactly what a woman like Sofia needs. She lives with a deficit of self confidence brought on by growing up in a world that doesn't always embrace women of all body types while having the additional exposure that comes with famous parents. The way she's been written strikes a realistic chord on the confusion that comes with the weird transition from being a college "kid" to having to truly Adult full time. I love the support Night gives her as first a friend and then as a lover. He doesn't always get it right but he doesn't stop trying and that is amazing. I could go on forever, but you don't want a novel of a review from me! Not when you have Colleen Charles' superior writing at your finger tips. Just read Neon & Nets, it won't disappoint!

Like many others, I was sad to see the Venom series end but was so excited to hear that we are getting the next generation! First of all, we still get to see or hear about many of our favorite Venom players so that’s a win. Then we are take to the future and while things are like the Jetsons, we still see a jump in technology.
Best of all in this story is the life long friendship of Knight and Sofia. Sofia definitely has some self esteem issues but has always felt safe with Knight. Knight has the opportunity to be traded to the Venom as Dante’s son is now running the team (as much as you can with Dante as a father) and is putting together a dream team of the offspring of the Stanley Cup winning players.
Sofia and Knight pick right up with their friendship but we quickly learn they both want more. When the start to act in the sparks, they are burning hot but they are missing the communication to glue together this new type of relationship.
There is some minor angst but as expected, Knight and Sofia get their happy ending and we get to celebrate with them and their families in the best way possible.
Lots of great characters were introduced so I can only imagine what’s to come with this next generation. (You just know Knova and Victor are going to finally see through their hate and it’s going to get crazy!!)
The second generation of the Venom is looking to be just as fun and steamy as the originals!!

A fantastic childhood friends to lovers read that's part romcom, part high school/family reunion (crazy schemes and crazier family and friends included and totally priceless!), and it's completely and sweetly adorable! With a hockey hottie who's finally home and totally ready to profess his undying love for the girl who's always had his heart, a scheme to use her college thesis to convince her he's exactly what she needs, and a full and zany cast of side characters who are all to happy to "help", it's a riot of a read that kicks off a second generation series with a bang, a little panicking, a lot of awkward second guessing, minimal blood shed (there's just this one little incident), and all the ooey gooey goodness of finally getting the girl of your dreams.
I loved the Vegas Venom series so to have the second gen series, see where the original characters ended up and what they're kids are up to now is so much fun! And in true Vegas Venom fashion it's a perfect mix of laugh out loud, absolutely crazy, overbearing and nosy friends, that just right hit of spicy, and straight up fun. It's got kind of a future vibe with some pretty cool tech, and it's so relatable with that whole self sabatoge thing that Sofia seems to do and the reminder of how hard it is to be in that inbetween space where you're an adult but you're facing all your first big decisions and life is looming right in front of you big and scary. And I love the plot, the idea that to get the girl Knight (love his name!) needs to help with her thesis, work through a huge list of icks and figure out if Sofia is picky or guys really are that ick, it sets up some great "dates" and some serious fails and is just an all around great read that has you very invested in the characters and highly anticipating what's next.

It’s a little crazy to see the Venom kids as the Next Gen in this new series - sweet yet sad. I loved seeing all the appearances by original the original couples, and gradually warmed up to the reality of the babies being young adults and ready for love to find them.

Knight was fantastic and he was definitely all in on winning Sophia’s heart almost at his own detriment since he listened but didn’t communicate. I loved his friendship with Tristin, who hopefully will be the focus of a future book; and Vicktor who is more than a tad crazy.

I was surprised by Sophia’s negative inner dialogue given how body positive her parents were in their book. She seemed to have high expect for everyone else to communicate well, but then didn’t live up to that same ideal herself.

I was glad to see Knight and Sophia take some time to slow things down and get to really know each other as adults versus who they thought they were based on growing up together. I think this was a great introduction to the new series and the time
period many years into the future.

Looking forward to getting more stories featuring the Venom offspring and seeing more appearances by their parents.

I have read through all of the Vegas Venom books and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them so I was excited to be able to get a glimpse into their futures & their childrens’ lives!! This book is set about 20 or so years into the future & I enjoyed that the author included some futuristic elements into it, different technologies and stuff that I do admit I had a hard time picturing but was still cool trying to imagine them. This book had more of a college romance feel to it but I absoutely LOVED Knight’s love for Sofia. The beginning of the book was fairly slow paced to me, but once I got into it, I truly could not put it down. I found myself cheering Knight on from the very start.. their love brought so many smiles to my face. Along with the amazing banter between all the characters. I loved that we were able to see where the OG Vegas Venom members were in their lives & it made me excited to see what else their children have in store for them. Overall, I defintely recommend reading this!!

Sofia has a huge self-esteem problem that holds her back in life. A lot of her thoughts on other people’s actions and treatment of her are not based in reality—beginning with her own family. I was very disappointed in her that she thought her parents treated her the way she thought they did after knowing the kind of people they are. Knight is a b0nehead, but his heart is in the right place. He has loved Sofia for basically his entire life and is ready to make his move, both literally and figuratively. She does not make it easy. They both are terrible communicators. I like that she tells him when she needs to work on herself and he does exactly the right things. I loved seeing all of the parents again. They are truly the same people they were when they were younger. And Dante is the same old Dante—I can’t wait for Sergio to handle him at some point—I know it will happens eventually.

So cute!

This is my first Colleen Charles book and it was adorable! But not too adorable... This book brought both the swoon and the spice!

Childhood best friends who have always harbored secret crushes on one another is the perfect set up for a friends to lovers trope. Toss in an extended cast of characters you can't help but love, and this book has everything I love most about sports romances. Did I mention the hockey is spot on? This author really knows her stuff, and I appreciated that.

This being my first, it did take a bit to match up all the previous couples. This is a next generation series, so there are a lot of past couples making cameos. I didn't always follow, but it was never distracting from the main couple and definitely left me curious to reach into the back catalog to discover all the love stories I missed.

With this one book, Colleen Charles has gained a new fan!

This is the 1st book in the Venom Next Gen series featuring the kids of the Vegas Venom all grown-up with the added bonus of revisiting some of our favorite Venom players. We kick things off with Knight and Sofia's wonderful childhood friends to lovers hockey romance. Knight and Sofia have been friends for a long time and he's been in love with her for almost as long. However Sofia has some self esteem issues due to her curvy figure and although Knight is a confident hockey player he really can be clueless sometimes although he means well. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this wonderful childhood friends to lovers hockey romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

How great it is to have a new series about the Las Vegas Venom's, their eccentric Italian owner. Now we get to see a few years - about 20 or so after the last one and some things sound futuristic, but - hey - today's technology would have sounded that way 20 or so years ago too, so all is good on that front.
The storyline is as previously by this author, quite solid and good, the characters are as well, as some sound quite over the top which also makes it fun to read about. I could go on and on, but believe you would enjoy it more to just read this fun to read story.
It is so very worthy of the fabulous five stars I am giving it here and I can't wait to read the next story.

This is book 1 in Charles' Venom Nex Gen series - a spin off or next generation to Charles' initial Venom series. I was sad to see the initial series finish up but excited for this spin off. But you don't have to have read the initial series to love this book, and this is a great start to the new series. Our main characters are Knight and Sofia who have known each other since childhood. A slow burn but full of fun, family, humor, romance and chemistry...this book really does have it all and I loved every minute of it! Can't wait for more from Charles' and this series...I want so many of these characters stories!!!

I am going to re-read this because it is so good, but here are my initial thoughts:

I was so disappointed when the Vegas Venom series was concluded, but the magic lives on with the kids.

It was so good to get a glimpse of how life went on for the original characters. It was like reuniting with old friends, but they didn't take up too much of the story, which allowed the kids to shine a
on their own.

Knight is so swoon-worthy. Just the sweetest.

Sofia made me cry so many times because she was so emotionally vulnerable & her fragile parts echo my own.

Knova & Viktor are perfection.

The ending had me crying. Happy tears, though.

Cannot wait for the next book.

If you’re looking for a light, fluffy hockey romance with some spice than this is the book for you. Knight is the perfect book boyfriend! Sure there is the communication issue and a lot of problems wouldn’t be there if they had talked about everything but that’a okay. It was my first book from Colleen Charles and I think if you read the Vegas venom first it would make more sense with the parents but I enjoyed it anyway. I hope there is a book about Viktor and Knova. I would love to read this story. I will definitely read more from her.

Loved this story, it’s the first in the Venom Next Gen series and features Knight and Sofia. They’ve known each other since childhood and when Knight gets traded to the Venom, their story takes off. It’s a slow burn, both are attracted to each other but don’t want to jinx things. Sofia is needing to complete her thesis and enlists Knight to assist, which is where the ‘icky’ comes in! I was so wanting this pair to realise their attraction to each other and when they did, thank god! Loved this story, loved his sister - really hope she gets a book!! Poor Viktor, hope he gets his reward too!.

Knight won my heart, he is the perfect partner for Sofia. This is book one of the next generation of the Vegas Venom hockey series. There were a few familiar characters which is always nice, but you don’t have to have read the original series to enjoy this, it works perfectly well as a stand-alone.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it has it all - humour, banter, family, friendships, charm, miscommunication, self-doubt, twin secret crushes, neighbours to lovers, awkward moments, steamy chemistry and sweet romance. Totally engaging and entertaining, I look forward to the next instalment.

Knight is a professional hockey player who has always shared a special friendship with Sofia. He knows that he wants much more than that from her and he is determined to show her that she is perfect for him in every way even if mistakes are made along the way.

Sofia has deep feelings for Knight as well however due to her self-doubts she isn’t certain why someone like him would be interested in someone like her romantically and that is only one of the challenges they must overcome.

This story has the team friendships and camaraderie that we have enjoyed from the original series as well as the romance, emotion, and compelling characters that this author creates.

I adored this book. The characters were well written and even side characters who I hope either have their own books or will have, like Viktor and Knova. The Main characters were sweet and funny. The MFC's battle with self esteem was sad but written well. The MMC doing all the things on the list was hilarious. He was never gonna give her the ICK he just seemed like a goofball. Big golden retriever vibes.
I will for sure be looking for this author again.

This is my first book from Colleen Charles and after looking at other reviews I definitely will be going back and reading the Vegas Venom stories!

I thought this was a cute story between Knight and Sofia. The futuristic aspect isn't my favorite but I stuck through it. I liked how sweet Knight was in this book while Sofia definitely had a lot of emotions.

There was a little spice to this book which I was craving a bit more of but it was a great book to breeze through!.

Colleen Charles is a master at writing hockey themed romance and Neon & Nets is definitely no exception.. If you enjoyed the Vegas Venom Series, we are now blessed to get the second generation Venom Series. It's great getting to revisit this amazing series. Knight and Sofia grew up friends but neither ever pushed for more. Knight may have been self assured and confident but Sofia was always shy and self conscious about her curves. Years later Knight is back in Vegas to join the Venom and Knight is determined to convince Sofia to give him a chance.

An adorable childhood friends to lovers read that kicks off the second generation series of the Vegas Venom. If you haven’t had the enjoyment of the original series, I highly recommend reading them! Knight puts his plan to claim Sofia by “helping” with her thesis. From there we get a wonderful blend of lol moments , meddling friends, a bit of angst, steamy sizzle and a whole lot of love. Can’t wait to where the next generation of the Venom takes us!

Neons and Nets

Absolutely loved this story ❤️! Growing up together, he always looked out for Sophia, and she always had feelings for him. Years later, he is a professional hockey player, and she is trying to finish her Masters, yet both have feelings, neither willing to admit to. Families are friends and neighbors, so always together. They are always in the same places, events, parties. Where is this story going to take them? Can they be more? Or, just stay family friends forever ❤️.

Sophia and Knight

Cute friends to lovers hockey romance. Can tell with storyline and characters it’s the beginning of new series.
Sophia is finishing her masters and needs a thesis topic which is unknowingly provided by dad calling her picky with her dating life,. Meanwhile, her childhood friend and crush, Knight has returned home to play hockey for the same local team his dad and Sophia’s dad played for.
Didn’t care for the extended miscommunication or Sophia’s very insecure personality. Was a slow burn that turned spicy and sweet. Knight was a great character.

Friends to lovers? Well yes please sign me up and hockey at that? It's a must. It is the story of the next generation but I didn't read the first but there's no need for it I think. Did enjoy reading this one and it tells the story of Knight Hale and Sofia Rossi. I love the vibes and feels this book gives me and is a nice breather between all the RH I read. So I recommend this one for the hockey fans. For the friends to lover fans and for all the romance fans.

This wonderful book kicks-off the next generation of the Vegas Venom and I loved every single second of it. Knight and Sofia's story was funny, heartfelt, sweet, spicy, emotional and rich with big feelings. Add in a bunch of cameos from beloved characters from the original Vegas Venom series and you have something so special that right from the start is on the fast track to stealing your heart. Cannot wait to read more of this series.

They communicate…

Well, but not about their feelings. Friends, Knight and Sofia are the kids of Venom players. They’ve known each other all their lives. Set 25 years in the future, it’s the next gen. I really liked Knight, who always had s thing for Sofia. Sofia is working on her thesis. Not sure why, when she wants to make jewelry. Go figure. Sofia is riddled with insecurities and it gets a tad annoying.
But, go Knight.

How have I not read anything by this author before? Knight and Sofia grew up as neighbours and more, always in each other lives. Now he's back and ready to get his girl in this lovely and steamy friends to lovers sports romance. The interaction between the friends, siblings and more is full of witty banter, can I see a couple of parings in future books?.

Cheating/sharing none
