4.5 badassery in action stars

this was the best book in the series so far!

action packed to the fullest, sexy banter, hilarious dialogues (Jonas and Charles are cracking me up, each with their snarky comments while eagerly protecting our heroine)

Sasha and Stefan (aka "the Boss") are facing the Council were they need to prove they are worthy, as individuals and as a couple (still non acceptable relationship between vampire and a human)and the end is just the kind to blow your mind - angst and suspense is on the high and Sasha has the biggest burden on her chest - to prove to herself and to the people in the clan that she's made to be their mage as well as their leader

ok, I need to add this, cause I feel like I need a closure to these series and this book would actually mean an ending to Sasha and Stefan's story (well for me, of course) and to sum up the emotional charge I got everytime these two characters interacted it would be through these lyrics:

A shooting star fell down to earth
Lightning cracked the sky
Something weird is happening
Something I can't deny

A strange kind of magic
Running through my brain
Feel I'm in heaven
Or going insane

'Cause everytime we touch
I get this feeling
And everytime we kiss
I swear, I could fly

Can't you hear my heart beat fast
I want this to last
Need you by my side

'Cause everytime we touch
I feel the static
And everytime we kiss
I reach for the sky

Can't you hear my heart beat so
I can't let you go
Want you in my life

The wind was like a hurricane
Storm clouds filled the sky
I heard a crash of thunder
The earth shook in reply

A strange kind of magic
Running through my brain
Feel like I'm in heaven
Or going insane

'Cause everytime we touch
I get this feeling
And everytime we kiss
I swear, I could fly

Can't you hear my heart beat fast
I want this to last
Need you by my side

'Cause everytime we touch
I feel the static
And everytime we kiss
I reach for the sky

Can't you hear my heart beat so
I can't let you go
Want you in my life

'Cause everytime we touch
I get this feeling
And everytime we kiss
I swear, I could fly

Can't you hear my heart beat fast
I want this to last
Need you by my side

'Cause everytime we touch
I feel the static
And everytime we kiss
I reach for the sky

Can't you hear my heart beat so
I can't let you go
Want you in my life

'Cause everytime we touch
I get this feeling
And everytime we kiss
I swear, I could fly

Can't you hear my heart beat fast

Now that Stefan has chosen Sasha to be clan Mage, she must present herself to the Council, a group of white mages (as in power level, not as in good vs. evil) who reside over the magical community governing Stefan’s people – in order to prove that she has what it takes - and be given “the green light” so to speak. Stefan must also present himself as he has been noticed as quite the Alpha leader and as having outgrown his position and striving for more – so he too must be vetted and prove himself as well.

Generally this is a dicey experience at best, involving several weeks of challenges – both magical and physical (like duels sort of) – but of course there are rules. Or there were rules. Unfortunately, the Council has gone to shit. The leader is having a self-induced “I’ve lived forever fit of ennui” and can’t be bothered with…well anything. Everyone is jockeying for power in a back stabbing cut throat sort of way; which is complicated by the dissention between the North American and European branches; and then there’s the fact that Sasha is an elusive and much sort after black mage – and everyone and his brother who’s crooked wants to kill Stefan in order to kidnap Sasha and force her into a magical alliance.

Despite having Charles and Jonas and the Mata at her side; Sasha has a fairly rough go of it (and in all fairness Stefan isn't having a walk in the park either); but she does gain even greater control over her magic and she kicks ass. Not as much as I’d hoped from reading other reviews – but I’ve concluded that I’m fairly bloodthirsty in my fictional life – because my idea of kicking ass was Sasha leaving a wasteland of bodies piled up. So when all was said and done, pretty much - there was a wasteland of dead bodies piled up – Sasha just couldn’t take credit for all of them. (actually her personal killing spree was pretty limited – but she still did kick ass).

The Council was heavy on action and adventure; with less focus on the romance – although Sasha and Stefan and their fated, soulmate, one of a kind connection- is always at the heart of the story – and Sasha does save her man and the day as well. The story actually could have ended here – but I think I’m glad that it doesn’t and that there are 3 more books – because they’re fun.

No cliffhanger finally, & it only took this author 5 books in this series to achieve a solid ending... Hopefully book 5 started a new trend lol on to book 6.

The Council is book five in this series and honestly it is my favourite one so far. This book contained huge amounts of action and the stakes have never been higher for Sasha and her group of friends. I couldn’t put this story down as I was sucked in and held my breath multiple times wondering how our heroes would get out of this one. Sasha has always been a work in progress, but I loved how we got to see how far she has come. She is no longer weak, no longer unsure of herself. She showed her strength and instead of getting by with dumb luck, she showed herself getting by with using what she has learned and by being smart. This was a hugely satisfying read and I look forward to continuing on this story with the next book.

I found Into the Darkness. I read it in one night as I couldn't put it down, I was hooked. K F Breene had become my new favorite author. Needless to say the next morning I downloaded Braving the Elements and finished that in a day. Yes, you guessed it, I couldn't wait for the next installment of the story and quickly got copies of On a Razor's Edge & Demons. Neither disappointed!!

I just had to find out more about the author who had me spellbound with this wonderful series - the Darkness series. It was during this time I was provided a complimentary copy by the author/publisher for review of the next book in the series The Council.

During each book we have seen Sasha's insecurities slowly slipping away, being replaced with not only a little sass but she is also growing in her abilities to use her power. In The Council we see Sasha and Stefan, her one true soul mate, the Clan and the Shifters, coming together to face not only the challenges the Council has to offer but they are in a fight to keep themselves alive.

Jonas and her best friend, Charles (I just adore his ready wit) are constantly by her side ready to protect and keep her firmly rooted to the ground and make me laugh. Tim and the Shifters are there to show they are loyal more than ever to Sasha.

I just love this book and the series. It will have you hanging on each and every word, your heart beating in your chest just waiting to see how this motley crew come together, with chaos and humour to see Sasha prove herself worthy of not only the man she loves but also the Clan.

If you haven't read any of K F Breene's books you are truly missing out. I can't wait to see what her next book Shadow Watcher will bring.

This one was the best one yet. Sasha really steps up and puts her game face on and gets a backbone of steel! We finally learn about what Sasha is and she finally “embodies” her powers thank the good lord because I was so tired for her!

We really get to see Sasha in her element at the council compound while she and Stefan are constantly challenged over and over while waiting for a political backer. I’m really unsure why the story continues after this book because this definitely had an ending feel. I mean I guess the European council is still at large and I guess Rudy is still at large but it even had an epilogue. Maybe the next book in the series continues from a different POV? I may check it out but for now I’m happy with the way this ended.

Magic and Miscreants

Sasha and Stefan have to go to the ruling Council, to be judged separately, her as a Mage, him as a leader; but this is not a formal judging, rather it is a series of attacks each must overcome. A thrilling adventure, battles, demons and betrayals. Loved it again.

I’ve been on an urban-fantasy kick recently and since I’m caught up on my favorite authors, I’m trying new authors or going back to unfinished series. This was a fun and quick read but I was getting tired of the writing by the end. I want adult conversations to sound like they are coming from adults. I’m giving up on this for now. This author’s fire and ice trilogy was much better.

Reread;
I seriously love this series and this book is still the best. The bada** moments with Sasha and her team is awesome. Sasha has major growth is this book and is a great sight, her belief in herself, the trust and bond between her, Charles and Jonas is strong and unbreakable. The chemistry between Sasha and Stefan is still off the charts HOTTTT and steamy, I series you panties are most likely going to evaporate lol. Charles constant immature attitude and commentary will have you in stitches, even Jonas will surprise you with a sense of humour.

4.5🔥🔥🔥🔥
‘The Council’ is book five in K.F Breene’s Darkness series. This story continues on from ‘Demons’. Highly Recommend previous books are reading prior to this.

Since the moment Sasha saw the “invisible” man under the lamppost her life has been a series of events. Her life has been threatened more than once, she’s been kidnapped, and almost died multiple times. But now it’s time for her most difficult hurdle yet, she has gone to see the Council, where she will have to undergo challenges to test her power, strength and endurance. But this time Stefan can’t help her as he will have to under go his own challenges. Will they be able to survive and make it out in one piece.

Holy Moly!!! I am seriously in LOVE with this series, it just keeps getting better and better... What a roller coaster this book was so much happening.

Watching the guys go all mushy over a child people at the Mansion was so cute, Charles being in his element, but the biggest surprise was Jonas, he was precious with Aurora (Jen one of the witches daughter). Then the challenges were rough, but I had to laugh when Stefan and Dom saw the end results of Sasha’s red razor wind spell for her first challenge. But the hardest thing was the end of the battle with Sasha in the spell circle, omg that had my heart breaking, watching Charles and Jonas struggling 😢. I can’t give too much details as it will spoil the biggest plot and twists.

But watching Sasha coming into turns of her role and powers was awe inspiring she has come out of her cocoon and what a beautiful sight it is. The shy timid human is no more she is kicking butt. The bonds between all the characters are getting stronger and stronger and I’m loving the dynamic between all. Charles continues to be the fun loveable best friend, Jonas has a sense of humour (I know shock), Ann the shifter BFF is spunky and determined to not let the man control her or Sasha, Stefan is drool worthy, strong, sexy as sin and total over protective of his mate.

I want to write so much more but I’m afraid of revealing spoilers so I’m going to end it here and go read ‘Shadow Watcher’.

FYI recommended for mature readings as it contains intimate scenes. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Okay, this is by far my favorite of the series! I absolutely loved it!

In this installment we see Sasha, Stefan, Dom, Toa, and the gang heading to the Council so they can evaluate Sasha's magic so she can officially be declared black Mage status. The shifters come along too so they can bridge a gap between the two people and officially become allies. They're all a little on edge though cause there are no rules or allies at the council and they are going to be constantly going up against cutthroat power hungry individuals craving Stefan's strength and even more. . . Sasha's power.

When they finally get to the council Stefan and Sasha find themselves constantly in danger with challenge after challenge to prove they are strong and aren't to be fucked with.Thankfully they have their friends and the shifters to have their backs.

Then on top of all this you have council members trying to steal Sasha for themselves to create a blood link with her so they can share in her power. Both Sasha and Stefan have to constantly be on guard but when old enemies show up and chaos ensues shit really hits the fan.

Sasha is so strong in this one! I was so proud of her. She's slowly but surly learning to harness and control all of her magic. She's come a long way and she proves it to the council, Stefan, Stefan's people, and most importantly- herself.

Stefan is perfect as always. He proves why he is the boss and why he is not one to be fucked with. He is truly a warrior, a strong cunning powerful warrior. And Sasha proves she is indeed his equal. I loved it.

Charles and Jonas are hilarious and loyal as always. I absolutely love them. Especially Charles and his knitting ways, just so cute. And Anne! I'm hoping for her and Charles to finally get together, the teasing and sexual tension is definitely there!

The only complaint I have about this book is the same one with all the others. . . they are just too damn short!

Overall I just loved this book. It was the strongest in the series in my opinion. I adore these characters and the ending left me completely swooning! I can't wait for the next book and see what's in store for Sasha, Stefan, and crew. I'm hoping for a baby- that would stir shit up. ;)

If you like paranormal romance then read this series! It's a quick addicting read! 4.5 STARS

I was given an ARC for an honest review. 4.5 stars.
It must be difficult to write paranormal romance. Many paranormal fans probably don't go for mushy, breasts heaving, bodice ripping action, and romance fans might be turned off by the violence, monsters and things that go bump in the night. K.F Breene brings us this series and blends the two brilliantly, marrying the genres with a heavy dose of comedy and a strong female lead character that you can help but like. In "The Council", Sasha, Stefan and their entourage travel to visit -who else - the Council, where challenges come from all sides, political, magical, and physical. Sasha begins to come into her own magically and as Stefan's partner and mate, and they end up battling nasty villains with the help of Her adopted father, the white Mage, the shifters, and her ever present guards Charles and Jonas.
Breene keeps fans happy with lots of steamy sex and tense battle scenes, not sparing the bloody details. Overall, she supplies witty banter that, at the very least, makes you chuckle to yourself and possibly even guffaw out loud. I have to admit, Charles is my favorite, and I want to have more going on with his character (and maybe our mountain lion friend?). My biggest complaint still remains that these novellas are too short. But as long as Breene keeps them coming quickly, I'll keep overlooking it.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!! KF Breene has done it again!! I absolutely adore her books. She has an unbelievable talent with writing her characters. This installment of the Darkness series is no different. I especially loved getting more time with Ann. She is fierce and loyal to the bone and I love her. It's rare that I can say that NONE of the characters in a book annoyed me. The council is full of suspense, awesome fight scenes and very sexy lovemaking!! What I loved especially about this installment is the "political" aspect of Sasha's and Stefan's world. The challenges they faced were very exciting to read. The humorous aspects had me LOL! Oh, and never tell a woman she is unhinged or imbalanced....especially when Ann is in the room!! It seems the council likes to play games and tries to through people off their game, except when it comes to Stefan's clan. They sure hold their own!! I loved that the shifter's are stepping up and healing Stefan in a way. Even if he is unaware of it. Sasha and Stefan are totally made for each other and it definitely shows. I'm a sucker for awesome world building in a story and KF delivers.

PLEASE! Do yourself a favor and jump into this crazy world of the Darkness. You won't be disappointed. I loved every second of it!!

Had the extreme good fortune of reading an ARC of The Council, which for those who are new is the fifth installment to the Darkness series. Four books into the story and each one better than the first. I hate reading and stopping a story for any reason, so I make damn sure that once I start I keep on going until the page with The End on it is in my line of vision. There was no damn chance I was going to be distracted, no way. I was transported to another existence by the sheer force of the Author's writing... I got frustrated so I silently screamed, I paced my room, I laughed while picturing Charles and his knitting, and I cried for Sasha and Stefan when they hurt. What a ride this book has been, what a pleasure to be able to turn the last page and say " damn can't wait for the next one ". K.F? Breene has absolutely outdone herself and given us the best of the bunch yet.. I have an uncontrollable itch to go deeper into Jonas and Charles now. Please keep them coming, I am on a high and don't know how to come down.

First of all, Oh My Goodness!!!

This book was just what I expected from K.F. Breene. I have read all of her books, and I finished all of them within a day. Right now, my life is in somewhat of disarray. I have two children, a 5 month old and a 6 year old. I am in school, and these books are like my getaway from reality. I was not disappointed. My heart was pounding through 90% of it. The relationships between Sasha and Stefan is absolutely perfect. It's something every woman wants. Her guards and friends, Charles and Jonas, are amazing. I fall more in love with Jonas with every book. Charles is just too funny to me. I would love to see him and Ann in a relationship. They would have such a playful relationship. I will continue to follow these books and continue to read them over and over again. I recommend, absolutely, to everyone. I want more, more, more. You did an amazing job, Mrs Breene. Keep up the good work!!

Again, great book! Annnnnddddd Sasha finally goes all bad-ass bitch crazy on the enemy. I was actually apprehensive while reading this one. I didn't know what to expect with the power hungry council members. I love it when an author writes a book so well, that I feel like I'm right there beside the characters enduring their struggles.

So no cliffhanger here. In the last book we were pretty much set also but we knew that at some point Stefan and Sasha would have to be introduce, read judged, tortured, vetted, by the council, immortal mages (vampires) that are of high power, usually white. Dominicous has claimed Sasha as daughter so he will be along and is also being judged for a higher position, one that would be on the council. Stefan would then be in line for his regional position of power. Of course all this will be based on whether they survive and even want the new status.

So there is a lot of politics in this one and many that are trying to usurp the top position. Some want Sasha in order to gain more power, and others want to challenge Stefan to keep him for gain power. Also if they can kill Stefan then they think they could bond Sasha to take her power. What is clear is the most powerful of these immortals, doesn't have a clue as to what it would take to control Sasha or the loyalty she has garnered of her guards.

Along with politics that was not to bad or lengthy, this suffered from a lack of togetherness of Stefan and Sasha. They were always in opposite places, fighting different battles and coming together in the aftermath. We didn't get to see them work together or how there abilities merged. Instead we got there strength apart from one another. They did have sex but we didn't get the connection. If you hadn't read the books before it, you would not understand the connection at all. Of course if you hadn't read the books before, you would not understand the situation either. This is not a standalone but it does come to a nice, non cliffhanger ending. . It could have easily been the end of the series.

This review is for the WHOLE SERIES

This entire series is great! Stephan and Sasha have amazing chemistry. Charles and Jonas have a special spot in my soul. Don't even get me going on all the other side characters.

This series has a dark romance aspect to a point. However what paranormal/supernatural series doesn't.

The main part of the series follows Stephan and Sasha's meeting and initial 'relationship' (you'll understand the quotes when you read it) in the first book, and as the books progress it gets deeper... There are battles, dark forces, magic learned, life or death situations. Plenty of action, adventure, heartache and of course... SPICE. I won't rate spice because everyone sees it differently. There's stalking behavior, kidnap-ish behavior, and definitely touch her and die feels as well. By the end of Sasha and Stephan's books in the series I was BEGGGGGGGGGGINNNG for Charles and Jonas, let me say, NONE of these books disappointed me. The only issue I think I had was with time jumping. That being said, it makes sense now with how many books there ended up being.

If it says ANYTHING to anyone, I read these in 2014 and am just doing the review 10 years later and can still remember them... Every.. last... one of them. They were so captivating, I devoured 1 a day until I finished them all.
