Stasi Eldredge loves writing and speaking to women about the goodness of God. She spent her childhood years in Prairie Village, Kansas, for which she is truly grateful. Her family moved to southern California back in the really bad smog days when she was ten. She loved theater and acting and took a partiality to her now-husband, John, when they were friends in high school. Stasi earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from San Diego State University, which she attended primarily because it was close to the beach. She became a Christian her junior year in college and dove into the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduating, Stasi joined Youth for Christ, heading up a ministry to pregnant teenagers and teen mothers. She has been active in ministry ever since, including theater ministry, crisis pregnancy center ministry, women’s ministry, and children’s ministry. The Eldredge family moved to Colorado in 1991.

Stasi loves the joy and freedom that comes from knowing the passionate, stunning love of Jesus Christ and lives to see others come to know him more deeply. She loves worship music, time to bake, celebrating life, getting lost in a good novel, baths, walking in the woods, hearing her sons' laughter, the sound of wind in the trees, a good cup of coffee, the smell of the earth after it rains, a powerful turn of phrase, animals in the wild, gardens, freshly mowed grass, family traditions, cherished friendships, the Tetons, rivers, mountain lakes, the grace and beauty of horses, the affection of her dog, and most of all, her family and her God.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot describe how amazing this book is and I also cannot describe how much this book has helped me and made me a better person. Finishing it was bitter-sweet because I have been reading it forever and I totally did not want it to end but I was also happy because like I said, I have been reading it forever😄. My favorite part of this book is how Stasi constantly empahasizes that Jesus has created me to be ME!!! Nothing less and nothing more. Life is how I discover myself and ups and downs will definitely be there but nothing can beat the beautiful journey of self-discovery called life. Stasi Eldredge is an amazing author and I insist that every teenage girl should read this book. It has a lot of good nuggets. One of my favorite quotes from the book reads "He hasn't been moving heaven and earth through all eternity so that you would behave yourself. Fit into the crowd. Mind your manners. No. He wants to woo and win your heart for himself so that you will love him with it and live your life from it." 6 stars.

Somwhere in the middle I still thought that this is such a typically american christian book full of this typically christian talk not really related to a normal life of a normal woman. Well, I have been forced to change my mind. And although this is meant mainly for girls in their teens, some chapters are very enjoyable regardless of age.

Stasi Eldredge shared her novel for women in Becoming Myself. Now she has written a book for young women about the ability to be free to be themselves in the book free to be Me. How can we in other words be the individuals were meant to be in Jesus Christ?
The first step she discusses learning who we are in Christ. This is not always easy with the pressures to conform to this world. How do we step out in God’s path? How do we remember how beautiful we are in Christ? I admittedly stumble in this area. It is easy to believe that we are alone.
Stasi also discusses the importance of having friends and our roles with them. How do you know when you have been a good friend? How do you know when to let go of these relationships. How do you trust God through it all?
My Thoughts:
Stasi Eldredge is a new author for me. I recently picked up for her book form the Lifeway story. I read this one after reading the adult version. This modified version is for young women. It covers the same information as the adult version. I picked up this book by accident. I didn’t realize this was a guide for young girls. This book is chocked full of spiritual truths that are helpful at any age. I look forward to the next Stasi Eldredge book.
