Me and My Diamond the most beautiful cover I have ever seen with characters holding a diamond. I am absolutely blown away by the magical things that happened.

Let me tell you, this is an amazing magical story, not only will children adore reading, over and over again , but parents, and grandparents will fall in love with incredible book too. Grandchildren, Molly and Joe find a magical map of the Diamond Field inside their grandma’s suitcase. Also Grandma Binny has a treasure box, with Seven Jewels and a unique diamond. Each chapter will hold a beautiful different diamond. On the path of the Golden Benches, they all will meet the Lightkeeper, where he will give them a different magical colour jewel every time they meet him. Molly, Joe and grandma Binny hold their colour diamond, close their eyes, calm their mind , breathe, and they will magically appear in a different country, to explore. Not only will children love reading this magical journey, it will build their knowledge about different countries.

One Liner: Good premise, needs some work yet; lovely illustrations

Grandma Binny comes to look after Molly and her brother Joe while their parents are away on a trip. The children discover a map to Diamond Field in Binny’s suitcase and find out that it’s a gateway to adventures and self-knowledge. The kids, along with their cat, explore new worlds and learn about their strengths and what makes them who they are.

The story comes in the third-person POV.

My Thoughts

While I knew the premise meant some lessons for kids, I was curious to see how they were delivered. Moreover, the book promised rustic illustrations by the author (sample on the cover), which seemed to have a cozy vibe.

TBH, the illustrations inside are better than the cover image. Some are really good and still have that intermediary artist feel. They worked well with the simple, sweet, and straightforward narration. There’s a detailed map at the beginning and another full-page illustration of the place at the end.

The additional information at the end about the author is very interesting and gives an insight into the book’s content.

The characters are sweet, cute, polite, and friendly. So much so that they almost feel perfect, which rather reduces the intrigue when going on an adventure.

The concept is lovely. Teaching kids good stuff like discipline, self-care, setting boundaries politely, learning to manage negative emotions, etc., is important. However, it is essential not to overdo it.
Here, they go on a trip, one day to each continent (represented by one color in the rainbow and a gemstone), where they meet a wise animal and learn a lesson. With so much happening back-to-back, the lessons feel overwhelming, and the continents don’t get enough exploration. The same could have been done by choosing seven flowers in a garden or sitting on seven benches in a park. The continental exploration is totally underutilized.

The whole concept would have been more effective if it was spread over three books. This allows the kids to understand the message and talk about it (do something naughty and learn a lesson) while also knowing about a few important places, aspects, etc., about each continent.

To summarize, Me and My Diamond has a great intent but crams everything into a few pages and ends up not being able to do justice to all its themes. Parents can space it out (one chapter per day) and pair the book with another fun-facts read (or something like that) related to each region.

My thanks to Ellie Lewis (PR) and the author for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

So first of all, I absolutely love that there's inspiration from the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall in this book, an area I know very well from numerous summer holidays when I was a child, a tradition I have carried on with our three Daughters, so I have lots of special memories of The Lizard and Cornwall.

Now onto the story itself. We follow Molly and Joe, and Binny, their Grandma. Binny has come to look after Molly and Joe while their parents take a short trip to Scotland and the inquisitive Molly and Joe discover a beautiful, extraordinary map in Binny's case of the mysterious Diamond Field.
What follows is a magical, fantastical adventure with the three, joined by Charlie Cat and Binny's friend, The Lightkeeper as they enter the enchanting, spellbinding world of the wonderous Diamond Field.

So next, let's talk about the illustrations. They're just beautiful, in hushed tones that are easy on the eye and packed full of detail. The text used is easy clear, easy to read and a good size for little eyes.

Overall, just a really nice, heartwarming, feel good story that's fun and happy.

This is a visually striking children’s book with a strong underlying message about self-worth and inner strength.

Me and My Diamond succeeds most in its atmosphere and presentation—the illustrations are engaging, and the overall design feels carefully considered and almost collectible. The story itself leans heavily into symbolism, using a global journey and animal guides to communicate ideas of self-love and individuality.

At times, the message is more foregrounded than subtle, but it remains a warm and accessible read for children, particularly those who respond well to imaginative, visually rich storytelling.

Overall, a sincere and well-intentioned book that combines travel, fantasy, and personal growth in a gentle way.

I absolutely loved Me and My Diamond. Even though it is written as a children's book, it carries such a meaningful message that readers of any age can appreciate.

This story beautifully introduces children to the idea of trusting their own inner wisdom and recognising the diamond within their hearts. It encourages self-belief, confidence, kindness and discovering your uniqueness, in a gentle and inspiring way.

The book is very well written, with imaginative storytelling that keeps the reader engaged throughout. The colourful jewels, charming illustrations, and the wonderful adventures that Molly and Joe experience with Binny really bring the lessons and ideas to life.

Each jewel carries its own special secret or message, and I found these so meaningful that I wrote them down to remind myself. That, to me, is the sign of a truly special book — one that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.

A magical, uplifting, and thoughtful read for both children and adults alike.

I'm really into my crystals and self love, so loved the concept behind the book and the Diamond Field.

It's a beautifully presented book with some great illustrations that will delight the younger eye. The story was absolutely captivating and left me, a fifty-four year old wanting more wonder.

Robinson has created some great characters in Grandma Binny, the Lightkeeper, and the children.

A magical adventure story with an important educational message at its core.

Encouraging and enjoyable.

Ps. The 'diamonds' on the front cover were a nice added touch 💎
