Written, illustrated, and published by ChadO, RoomMate is a gripping psychological thriller spanning 337 pages of raw horror.
This dark and twisted tale blurs the line between truth and fiction as ChadO weaves his personal traumas into the pages, bringing Charlet—a wealthy, successful Hollywood producer and deeply disturbed serial killer—to chilling life. By day, she’s crafting horror films; by night, she’s finding her “therapy” in the screams of her victims, sourced through roommate wanted ads. Charlet’s obsessive tendencies and macabre rituals keep her "sane," but her world begins to unravel when missing children in her neighborhood draw the attention of Detectives Lask and Watson. As their investigation closes in, Charlet’s perfectly controlled life threatens to spiral into chaos.
Inspired by the writing styles of Stephen King, the cinematic twists of Quentin Tarantino, and the dark humor of Kevin Smith, ChadO delivers a novel that’s directional, cinematic, and unapologetically audacious. Fans of psychological horror, serial killer stories, and shocking plot twists will find themselves utterly consumed by RoomMate.
**BONUS MATERIAL** Also included is the author's 20 page foreword which tells the story of what inspired the book. This preliminary edition includes a URL granting access to the limited-edition PDF of the original screenplay, giving readers a glimpse into the story’s cinematic origins.
What secrets will Charlet reveal—or bury—when the detectives close in? And can she keep her dark world hidden? Read RoomMate and find out... if you dare.
The way this guy writes is vivid and entrancing. The twists are amazing and the monsters are all too real! Once you think you figure out the horror element, he drops another one on you, and it fits so well! Not forced like other books feel! Definitely read!
He’s a first time novelist but his forward is soooo good about being a screenwriter in Hollywood. The forward makes the story that much more special! First time novelist not amateur at all which was my first fear.
I enjoyed the plot and premise, but the writing style was difficult to get through. I also think it could've used another run-through by an editor! A few plot holes or inconsistencies, along with some grammar/spelling errors.
A feeling of 90s movie horror and suspense. Clearly not the the author’s first outing. A lot of fun and detail. Makes your skin crawl and as much as you may want to put the book down you cant. A wild ride from beginning to end.
I loves this book it Puled me into the mind of a killer and makes you want to sympathize with her. Not saying what she did is right, but I kinda get it. And what a way to kill them wow! Worth the read

Attention fans of Norman Bates, Dexter Morgan and Lizze Borden: This twisted psycho-sexual romp through the mind of a serial killer delivers all the buckets of blood you can drink. Its warped sense of humor, vividly drawn characters and compelling storylines pull you into a horrifying world that will give you nightmares for days. But beware, themes of child abuse and torture porn are a bit hard to take – and not for the faint of heart or stomach.
First and foremost- I think among the other trigger warnings this book has, somewhere it should mention the violence to animals. I was tempted to put the book down when I got to the first incident because who goes to the effort to lists trigger warnings but manages to not mention the violent killing of a dog or the brutal and violent mauling of kitten a few pages earlier.
The TWs aside, it seemed like this book could’ve used a thorough editing before even the first publication. Not sure how that all slipped past and got printed. I kept reading because I enjoyed how at no moment did I ever know what was coming next, as is my morbid curiosity to read extreme horror.
I did not love the objectification and over sexualization of pretty much all the female characters. Felt like some bits of the story were missing explanations, and the ending seemed unsatisfactory. Yet, other things- such as character’s revelations etc were spelled out in TOO much detail that it was almost insulting to assume the reader hadn’t picked up on it. The story had potential, just did not nail it on execution.
