The List #2

The New Me List

Rate this book
One down, two to go.

Being a good girl hasn’t worked out for me, but being bad might have worked out for my bestie.

Now it’s my turn to switch to the dark side.

Muah ha ha.

My three best friends and I wrote a list in junior high that we would complete if we weren’t married by the time we were thirty.

Spoiler alert.

I’m divorced, and that means I don’t get a free pass.

My list items are enough to make my cheeks burn.

Make out with a stranger in an airplane bathroom?

I’d rather jump out of the plane.

Pole dance at a nightclub?

If my fourteen-year-old self could feel her body at thirty, she never would have put it on the list.

I’m going to break an ankle.

Or my own heart.

Because kissing the gorgeous rockstar who’s seven years younger than me on an airplane turns out to be the best naughty thing I’ve ever done.

It’s official.

Being bad is kind of delicious.

And so is the New Me.

Gemma Longstrum and her besties Mariam and Laurel are renting a cabin for the weekend in the forest of Bar Harbor, Maine. They are bonded by their creation from ninth grade - a naughty list to be completed if they are not wed by their 10th high school reunion. Gemma’s first item on the list is to make out with a stranger in an airplane bathroom. Gemma was once married, and even now she remembers the less than fiery kisses from her former husband, so she is ready for this challenge in hopes of finding a better kisser.

As fate would have, not long after, she is on a plane seated next to a gorgeous man,
they have a mishap with spilled champagne, and end up in the bathroom cleaning up and puckering up. While he introduces himself as Noah and they exchange numbers, he intentionally keeps on the down low because of his fame as the lead singer of City Lights rock band, who is performing at a charity event. When Noah looks out at the audience, whom should he lock eyes with but Gemma, and he is once again gobsmacked by her beauty. Then comes the explosive one-night stand followed by hopes of seeing each other at Thanksgiving in Austin, Gemma’s home town. And just to add a little drama to the day, she has invited not only Noah but her ex-husband Dave, who, as it turns out, is gay.

As Gemma and Noah try to make thier relationship work, they have to face three facts: she lives and works in Texas while he is based out of California and tours a good bit of the year; Noah is constantly hounded by the paparazzi and requires a security team; and, he is 21 years old, seven years her senior junior.

The New Me List, the second book on The List series, is deliciously filled with beautiful longtime friendships, steamy passion, and chances for HEA. This is a must read romantic Christmas story whose stocking is filled with possibilities and surprises!

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.

Gemma Longstrum and her lifelong best friends, Mariam and Laurel, are taking a much-needed getaway in a cozy cabin nestled in the forests of Bar Harbor, Maine. Their bond goes way back to high school when they created a "naughty list"—a collection of daring challenges to tackle if they found themselves single by their 10th reunion. For Gemma, the first task on her list? A bold and unexpected kiss with a stranger in an airplane bathroom.

Recently divorced, Gemma is determined to rediscover the spark missing from her past relationship. When a spilled glass of champagne leads her into an airplane bathroom with a strikingly handsome stranger named Noah, sparks fly—literally. What she doesn’t know is Noah is the lead singer of the famous rock band City Lights, and he’s keeping his identity low-key.

Their chance encounter doesn’t end there. Noah, performing at a charity event, spots Gemma in the crowd, and the chemistry reignites. From a passionate one-night stand to a Thanksgiving gathering in Austin filled with surprises—including the presence of Gemma’s ex-husband, Dave, who has his own truths to share—Gemma and Noah navigate a whirlwind connection.

But their budding romance faces its challenges: the long-distance nature of their lives (Texas for her, California for him), Noah’s high-profile lifestyle as a musician, and, of course, their seven-year age gap—she’s older, he’s younger.

The New Me List, the second book in The List series, is a heartwarming tale of friendship, romance, and daring to embrace second chances. With its blend of steamy moments, heartfelt connections, and holiday cheer, this Christmas romance is packed with surprises and charm.

This book was a delightful read, perfect for fans of modern love stories with a touch of seasonal magic.

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and am sharing my honest opinion.

This is the 2nd book of a series which actually runs somewhat parallel to the first book, which is really interesting and a fun way to present this story! In this edition, one of the 3 friends of the good girl club, Gemma, finds love with a younger man, Noah. Gemma has truly always been one of the good girls, but when she and her friends decide to start acting on 'The Naughty List' they created as 14 year olds, Gemma decides to let her bad girl out and have a little fun. Little does she know that the guy that she picks as her first 'victim' in her naughty-girl era, is a famous singer in a boy band...and he's 7 years younger than her! This is a good story, full of ups and downs...mostly around Gemma's inability to reconcile the 7 year age difference...but the rock star status doesn't help either. It's obviously an HEA, so they do end up together...but the road to happiness is wrinkled with drama and indecision. It's a well done story and I recommend you read the first one at some point, to understand the relationship between the 3 girls.

The concept of this book was so good: I was always a goodie two shoes and me and my best friends made a list of stuff to do if we were unmarried by 30 to do to make our lives more interesting. I feel like this could’ve opened up almost like a sisterhood of the traveling pants storyline where it’s about the best friends committing to their list together and falling in love in the meantime but with this the write is obviously making each friend their own book so there’s missing plot elements. Not to mention the age gap romance with an older woman where she freaks out over seven years?!? Like that is not a big gap. Also the love bombing so quickly in the book did not make me fall in love with the characters. I want to see the pining and love growing where this just felt like BOOM they’re in love and that’s it. Brandon was honestly the best thing about the book. I almost DNFd after chapter 10 but I hate DNFing so I stuck with it hoping the writing would get better or I’d feel something for these characters. I didn’t. I should’ve stopped reading and picked something else. Oof.

I love Noah and Gemma! You will swoon for him, too!

An age gap love story that you will feel in your heart. Noah is in a band called City Lights. They meet on a plane, but Gemma doesn’t recognize him. That intrigues him. He just happens to be playing at the gala she’s attending tonight. He visits Houston, TX pretty frequently because his best friend in the band lives there. While he’s singing he notices her in the crowd and he can’t take his off her. Gemma is surprised to see him because she had no clue who he was on the plane. Gemma lets all her inhibitions go and they hook-up that night. Then enters the new me list, a list of twelve things to be divided equally, with four each with her two best friends, Mariam and Laurel, that they all agree on doing. Oh, the irony of Gemma’s first thing to do on the list to do. This story is a wonderful journey to go on with these characters. I loved every minute of it!

A cute story about three girls who were friends since elementary school and now are twenty eight. They are all nice girls who played by the rules and did everything by the book. When they were fourteen they made a list of twelve naughty things they’d do if they weren’t married with children as they turned thirty. Gemma crosses her first thing off the list when she meets a gorgeous younger guy on the plane. It all began with a kiss in the bathroom and she had no clue he was a famous rock star. Their chemistry was off the charts, but insecurities, childhood baggage, misunderstandings and jealousy keep throwing up roadblocks. Beautifully written with well developed main and side characters. The story line will grab your attention right at the beginning. You’ll find yourself pulling for Gemma and Noah. A happy ending and no cliffhanger. I read an arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

The New Me List, book two in The List series follows Gemma Longstrum and Noah Parks, lead singer of rock band, City Lights.
Gemma’s first item on her list, make out with a stranger in an airplane bathroom. Being divorced, Gemma remembers her ex husband’s kisses and hopes to find a much better kisser this time. Everything seems to be working in her favor, even having a handsome man sitting next to her so when a little spilled champagne has them cleaning up in the bathroom, they share a hot kiss. Of course, she and Noah part, exchanging numbers and trying to keep in touch. When Gemma heads to a charity event, she is shocked to see none other than Noah, up on stage singing with his band. Add in a one night stand, a thanksgiving dinner and a gay ex husband, not to mention that Noah is seven years younger then Gemma.. and a whole mix of other issues.. will Noah and Gemma have what it takes to make it work? Or will Noah’s rock star life put an end to their beginning relationship?

Wow, Ali's done it again! You don't want to miss this heartwarming romance. Who knew how well fate can step in and bring happiness to two lonely people! Three best friends made a Naughty List when they were 14 years old and made a pact of sorts that if they weren't married by age 30 they were going to do these naughty things because they'd always been such good girls! What their 14 year old minds come up with are crazy! Can she really kiss a stranger in the bathroom of an airplane? Wait, what? From there on it just gets better! Meet Gemma and Noah, he's a boy band lead singer and 7 years younger than her! She needs to get past the age difference thing and he's head over heels in love; will she give him a chance? Thank you Ali can't wait for book 3!

The previous book was cuter than cute. This one had a hefty dose of added angst to spice things up. But, it’s not like the younger rock star and the boss babe weren’t spicy enough on their own. Gemma and Noah were positively adorable together. I loved how they faced the gap in their ages and refused to let it slow them down. I also really admired the way they overcame their misconceptions about one another by actually talking them out. I might love these two even more that our original leading couple. I can’t wait for book three to see if the final pair will steal the crown. Also, I need to read the stories for the rest of Noah’s bandmates, so if we could have those books in the future, that would be great.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

cute reverse age gap

This story was cute. Likable characters. Lots of friends/side characters. Reverse age gap, which isn’t real common and was done well enough, although Gemma stresses about it a lot. I just don’t understand how in the majority of the books I read there are so many errors/typos. Isn’t that what editors and proofreaders are for? Noah aka Superman is described as having black hair early on. The cover also shows him with black hair. During the course of the book he is then referenced as having dirty blonde hair. Twice! Another time, the wrong characters name is used and I had to read the passage several times to figure out what it was supposed to be. Overall, cute read and my first by this author although I’ve read a bunch by her brother.

Gemma and Noah meet on a plane and Noah is surprised that she has no idea he is in a famous rock band. They really hit it off. He is in Houston because one of the band members is from there and they just happen to be playing at the event that Gemma is suppose to be at the same night. When they make eye contact while he’s on stage he doesn’t seem to be able to stop looking at her so Gemma lets her hair down and they spend an explosive night together.
This was a wonderful story of course it has its twist and turns but this is one you won’t want to miss. This group of girls and their naughty list is so worth reading about. I was honored to receive an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving my review.

It all starts with these “challenges” they set for themselves as hormonal teens. The three besties Mariam, Laurel and Gemma set out to check stuff off of list they made when acne was the worst thing that had happened to them.
Follow Gemma as she embarks on a journey into the music industry with Noah Parks.
Gemma is an Event Organizer and she’s good at her job.
She’s even better at making eyes and memories with a rising country/pop star
Noah is her new client and the man who she had made out with in the bathroom on her flight home.
Noah has a past. As does Gemma, she’s a divorcee.
Read about Thanksgiving dinner with exes and new beaus, concerts with hunky men, songwriting three will make you cry happy crocodile tears and love.
Real love

This is the second book in the series and now we get Gemma's story.
Gemma's first item on her list is to kiss in an aeroplane bathroom, which happens when she spills champagne on a younger, good looking man called Noah. It's everything she has wanted in a kiss.
When she sees Noah again she can't believe that he is in a rock band playing at the event she's attending.
The chemistry between them is off the charts but it isn't long before her insecurities get the better of her.
He's a lot younger than her and she is recently divorced.
Can she get past her insecurities and enjoy their time together or will it tear them apart.
A must read and I can't wait for the final book in the series.

It is Gemma's time to do something of her list made when in school with her best friends. She and Noah met on a plane. He is the lead singer of City Lights but Gemma doesn't know him. He saw her again in the audience and was gobsmacked by how beautiful she is. They had a steamy on night stand. They wanted to work on a relationship but she live in Texas and he in California and tour a lot through out the year and he is seven years younger than her. Will they get a chance at happiness with all the obstacles. This is another great must read story in this series of four friends. I can't wait for the next book.

Rounding up from 4.5
This was a fun and sweet romance. It’s the second in a series but can be read as a standalone. It’s a reverse age gap; she is 7 years older than him. It works really well and I liked the way it came together. I thought the character development was good and I liked the way both Noah and Gemma worked to overcome insecurities from their pasts to make their relationship work. It was a heartwarming story and it caught my attention from the beginning and kept me wrapped up in the book until the ending.
I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This second book in the series is Gemma's turn to do something on the naughty list that she and her best friends created back in 9th grade which they agreed to do if they were still single at 30. Gemma meets Noah on a plane and is seated next to him and has no idea that he is the lead single in a rock band only that he has the bluest eyes she has ever seen. He is infatuated with looks as well. They end up having a one night stand and they both want more but there is a slight problem with the age gap and the distance between where they live. Fast forward and it just keeps getting better and hotter!!!! This is a true page turner and a must read!!!!

Good 2nd book in this standalone series of 3 good friends and the “list” they made when they were very young. Hysterical list!!!
Gemma and Noah met, seated on a plane side by side and were immediately drawn together. They even completed one item on Gemma’s list while on the plane!! 🔥 You’ve read the authors summary and I will add that this couple communicated well on concerns, one being their age difference where he was 7 years younger than her. The friendship of these friends is a precious thing.
Anxious to read the next story and I’d also love to read books about the other members of the band.

This is the second in the “List Book” series. Ali has you sucked into this story from the first chapter. It is Gemma’s turn. It’s time for Gemma to attack something on her list that was written with her friends when they were 14 yrs old. From the time that Gemma meets Noah on a plane, the sparks seem to fly. The characters are well developed and the story will have the reader run through the gamut of emotions. Lots of insecurity on Gemma’s part with the age difference…she’s older and of course the age old issue of geographic undesirability, which all gets resolved to make this a wonderful HEA. Hope the third book is on its way soon.

Omg, this book is absolutely fantastic and will definitely have you engrossed from the beginning until the end. Gemma and her friends made a list when they were younger . Now, each one has to do a dare on their list ,but what happens when a dare turns out to be someone famous and younger? Noah meets Gemma on the plane ,but she has no clue who is, and when sparks fly between them, will they end up getting burned? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved these characters as well. Trust me, you are definitely going to want to read this book.

The Naughty List was the creation of a group of goodie-goodie high school friends. Now that they’re older and unmarried, the list has been unearthed and divided among the friends to carry out their share of the tasks.

Gemma’s first task was to make out with a stranger in an airplane bathroom. Who knew that this one moment of wild and crazy would lead her to Noah. Rockstar. Heartthrob. And her perfect match.

I loved their story and that we got to see some more of Lief and Laurel from the first book in this series. I can’t wait for the next story and what crazy tasks remain from the List.

Let's imagine that you start a new relationship thinking: he is too young/old, he is very handsome, he is gonna leave me, we don't have a future. And then somehow blaming him for all of this.
It's not quite like that, but Gemma's thoughts were tiresome. He was very down to earth, young, yes, but isn't a flaw, isn't something he could control.
Gemma is living her life and following her schedule and plans, and in the same time is judging him for doing the same.
The list that they ve made years ago is more of a joke, a side note.

wow

Way better than I thought it would be. I’m not sure why, but I was skeptical about this one. Maybe cause I didn’t read the first in the series yet or maybe just because I was in a mood lol but I didn’t have to high hopes. Wow was I glad to be wrong. It was soooooo cute and sweet and funny and tender. Noah’s maturity blew me away even though he was only 21. He seemed more mature on some levels than Gemma who was 7 years his senior. This story was so sweet I was rooting for them big time. Grateful to have read it

Gemma and Noah are a thrilling couple in this delightful story. At the age of fourteen she made a pact with friends that if by the age of thirty they would do the things on their list and since she is divorced, she has to follow through with it. It leads us to her and Noah who she connects with on the plane and sparks ignites between them. Will Noah be the one that helps her fulfill her list although there is an age difference and will it lead them along the path to happiness.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

The second story in this series covers Gemma’s challenges on the Naughty List.
A fun book to read especially as Gemma falls lucky in meeting Noah for her first challenge and the rest is history. There are some bumps along the way with Gemma feeling the difference in their ages and her insecurities shining through.
I loved the way the story is written intertwining with the three friends and including a little from the first book with Laurel and Lief.

Second of the series and just as good as the first!

Noah and Gemma captured my heart!

I loved the reverse age-gap, and the very different professions!
Talk about obstacles needing to be overcome!

Learn what happens when Gemma tackles her list item written in ninth grade!
You heard that right: ninth grade!

A book about friendship, and finding love!

I'm finding love as these friends complete their lists!

This was another great book by Ali Parker. Events planner Gemma Longstrum meets Noah Parks on an airline flight to New York City but doesn't realize who he is until a few days later when they end up at the same event. Things heat up from there. It's a good Christmas romance that everyone will love.
