I picked up this book to learn from the patient's perspective. As a Canadian immigrant in Costa Rica, where the public health care system is primarily in Spanish, I wanted to improve my ability to navigate as a healthcare consumer. This book is organized into themes and categories, making it easy to focus on the aspects of Spanish for your purpose. Although it is written for healthcare professionals, it is easy to navigate from the patient's perspective. A valuable resource for anyone providing or accessing healthcare as a non-Spanish speaker!

This book is very helpful for all healthcare professionals who want to work in a Spanish-speaking country. However, there may be some differences in the language depending on the country they are going to.
In general, medical language is similar in most countries, as the terms come from Latin. The book has some conversations between doctors and patients that can help a lot.
