Nyla I’ve been an omega slave since the day I presented. Obey. Submit. Survive. That’s the rule. And I’ve followed it—kept my head down, done what I’m told, and swallowed every scream clawing its way up my throat.
Then he shows up.
Kiel. The brutal, untouchable alpha who kills my master and claims me for himself. But this isn’t freedom—it’s chaos. Because this alpha… he doesn’t want me as a slave. He doesn’t know what he wants at all.
He thinks I’m weak. Fragile. Helpless.
He has no idea. I’ve buried my claws deep, hidden my weapons, and sharpened my rage for years. I’m just as deadly as he is… and soon, he’ll find out exactly what kind of monster he brought into his den.
Kiel Blacktorch destroyed my life. Now my crew and I are burning them to the ground, one bloody piece at a time. Nothing matters but the mission. No distractions. No attachments.
Until her.
A fragile little omega, broken and terrified, standing in the ruins of her master’s corpse. I should leave her. I should walk away. Instead, I claim her.
She’s soft where I’m jagged. Silent where I’m violent. Weak… or so I thought.
Because the longer she’s in my orbit, the more I see the shadows in her eyes—the sharp edges she hides, the secrets she keeps.
And I can’t shake the gnawing feeling in my She isn’t the distraction. She’s the danger.

✅ no ow, cheating,
This had all the makings of a really great book, and I’d love to see it given more attention to detail and expansion. Unfortunately it fell to the “heat solves everything” black hole of OV with not enough grovel after the H mistreats the h twice. I loved the OM drama - I live for it and this had a good amount of jealousy and possessiveness. It didn’t have any breeding 😞, she goes on an IUD.
I appreciated the heroines attitude although it bothered me she still called her previous owner Master right up until the end. One that should have bothered the heck out of Kier and two he wasn’t her master anymore.
This is a slow burn so we get self care scenes with Kier and one scene at the end between him and Nyla. One intimate scene in the middle would have been nice. I also feel given Rivens and Lys backgrounds they would have stuck up for her more. I needed more time spent on her adjusting to non slave life and explaining why given her unique training she didn’t use it against her masters to escape.
Overall a really fun concept and I’ll be reading the next for Rivens story.

So the story didn’t start off the best. I was mildly interested. All of the bad reviews for this book were just star ratings with no explanation, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I didn’t make it very far as it wasn’t for me right off the bat.
So the MMC says they are all alphas. Followed by 2 of said alphas being a couple. One of the couple Lysander is a vegan. And “typical Lysander” cooked for the omega. Making an alpha a gay vegan right off the bat told me what type of story I was reading. Alpha male and vegan don’t go together IMO. Making the gay vegan alpha Susie home maker is so overdone I just couldn’t go any further.
Furthermore I love me a real alpha male. When things being said by alphas sound like they’re coming from a woman it’s a turn off.
I do have to thank the author for putting it in the beginning of the book as the last book I read, I got to 70% before the new age agenda went off the deep end.
It was a good story. It comes together a little fast for me. I would have liked a little more character development with the main characters. If you are looking for a quick read story, this is perfect.
This was definitely not one of my favourites by CT Rhames but it was okay. It’s not the typical Omegaverse that I’m used to. Not sure if I’ll continue the series
