Waves Come in Sets

Rate this book
This is a collection of nearly 300 pieces written in the weeks, months and years of a nomadic life. Each one was born from paying attention to what was right in front of me - whether that was in the ancient silence of Parrocchia San Nicolò di Bari in Sicily or in the face of a fed up writer eating eggs a few diner stools down in LA or in the internal geysers of existential questions fizzing from within. As I lived and distilled them into words, I noticed a simple revelation burned into every single one: Life can only and will only meet you in the very minute you're in. This second is the only pinhole it has; the only pinhole you have. There is no other time.

A fantastic blend of travelogue & personal memoir, highly recommend for anyone seeking both adventure & introspection, and a thought-provoking read that encourages reflection on one’s own life journey and the meaningful connections made along the way.

Quite possibly one of the best poetry books I’ve ever read.

"Life can only and will only meet you in the very minute you're in."

The ideas, vignettes, pieces and musings of free spirited, nomadic author Dani Kreeft comes in waves and sets.
These are moments in time, captured, as they are, with only fleeting philosophy. It isn't meant to sink in, or make you think too hard or deep. They are moments of noise, silence, eating and meeting. She expresses her sentiments of wanting to be the change you want to see in the world, and actually following through with the people she comes across in her travels.
In the age of doomscrolling and cancel culture this book is breath of fresh air. An oasis of constant movement and curiosity, we feel as if we are being kept in her pocket while she travels from places like Mexico City, Rome, Florence, L.A. or unnamed mountain lakes. You can almost smell the coffee, or gin, or whatever delicious food she was blessed to find on her journey as you turn the pages.

Waves Comes in Sets is the perfect book to have in your purse, or backpack for when you need just a few moments of reading material.

It's a great reminder that all we have is now, and that now is all that matters.

What a gem of a book!
Great short reads for anywhere and anytime about life and the people we meet.
So many great lessons to be reminded of as we travel through each and every day.

I won a copy from Goodreads.
