Every few years I reread this and find new pieces and words which guide me. I appreciate the historical notes, and with each reading I find something that speaks to me.
This book by the Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain reminds me of what I love about being a Quaker. I've had this book for over 12 years, and I'm enjoying reading it again.
Really good overview of the history, beliefs, quotes, practices and other elements of the Quaker faith. Worth reading if you are interested in the Quaker faith.
I'm a Quaker, so perhaps it's to be expected I like this. I dip into it a lot. It starts with the history (alas--least interesting part), continues on to Friends Beliefs and Practices, then chapters on Quaker procedures, applications of their testimonies, structures, the Queries. My favorite part is the "Extracts from the Writings of Friends." Lots here of interest for those of many faiths.
good manual of discipline and obedience to the Light Within Bought in 2003 in Philadelphia...read when I was a teen and again and again...many principles close to Saint Benedict's rule and confirmed by Vatican II.
