Hu Die escapes only to be caught again by Shen Mi. She is ready to fight, to the death if need be but Shen Mi offers her a chance to live a life without being a captive. Together they work within a group of secret spies and overtime Hu Die and Shen Mi find themselves going from adversaries to companions, could it possible grow into something more?

This was mesmerizing and had a few twists I was not expecting. I really liked Hu Die she is feisty, complete opposite of Shen Mi and completely unexpected. Shen Mi holds an air of mystery about him and Hu Die likes to push his buttons. I thought this was beautifully written, captivating.

Absolute stunning story from start to finish. I won’t lie that cover got me on this one but the story, the writing, and those characters. *Chefs kiss* Natalina Reis is certainly a favorite of 2025, and I hate I didn’t find her sooner, but this was a perfect introduction to her work.
I love all things Fairies so this one having a version I have never read before was amazing. Hú Dié is a butterfly fairy and after being held captive for years and used for her magic the time comes when she finally escapes. At least for a moment. Shén Mì is more than a pretty man when he makes a “deal” of sorts with Hú Dié, she helps him, and he’ll help her. Only more questions arise and Hú Dié is left wondering if she can trust Shén Mì.
Can she trust him to keep his word? Will she truly find the revenge she seeks? How can she be free when the monster who held her captive is out there. I don’t want to risk spoiling anything, but this story will transport you into their world. You will laugh and you will cry but it’s all worth it. I hope the author continues this story or at least this world.

A Satisfyingly Sweet and Uplifting Read

I was caught unaware of Natalina Reis’ abilities as an author, (as this is the first book I have read by her), but I was completely enchanted by the story, enamored with the plot, and mesmerized by the characters. I am positively shattered to have come to the end of this story, as I wanted to savor it longer. I am wishing there was a second book to continue reading, as I do not want to let these characters and their stories go. Hú Dié is the beautiful and feisty FMC. Finally free after escaping her capture, she refuses to be anything other than strong and capable. Shén Mì is the MMC, a man that will help Hú Dié, but not before she must help him. I don’t want to give any spoilers, as I believe this story should be read blind, but have your tissue and laughter handy, as you will be laughing and crying throughout this book. I feel in love with these characters and this story, and I will definitely be reading more from Natalina in the near future.

Shén Mì runs a network of spies & needs Hú Dié to help use her gift to get into places undetected. He has got to find out who is trying to kill his brother before it’s too late.
Hú Dié has had to fight most of her life and is not afraid to do so. She’s not afraid to join Shén Mì’s group. When she meets Shén Mì, she thinks he’s pompous and materialistic. She has no idea of the secrets he’s been hiding.
Neither want to get involved in a relationship, but sometimes the fates have other plans.
This was a good fantasy book – had revenge, action and fantasy creatures. I was intrigued by the characters and the plot twists. The story was at the perfect pace. I didn’t feel like there were gaps in time and I was able to keep up with the story.

Hu Die has been held captive and had her powers used for so long she almost forgot what it was like to be free. She is ready to fight to the death when she is captured by Shen Mi, but he has a deal for her. She has the chance to live freely and not be his captive but she has to help him spy on the Empress. What does this man want with the royal family? More importantly can she trust him to keep his word? Honestly this book drew me in by the cover before I ever read the synopsis. It is amazingly beautiful and intricate. However what is between the covers is ever bit as good. This was the first book I have read by this author but it most likely won't be the last.

Natalina Reis creates an amazing and ethereal story that had me reading with a box of tissues at my side. The Prince and the Butterfly had me completely in my feelings with its amazing story and metaphors. It was so gripping I couldn’t put it down, not even for a second. Her writing style and tone really transports you into her unique and wonderful world. Her characters are believable and rife with intrigue. I highly recommend picking up this book and any other book by Ms. Reis! You will not be disappointed!

The action-packed book grabbed my attention and kept me guessing throughout. Hu Die is much more than she seems at first glance. This small, pretty girl packs a punch (and can take a hit). Butterfly fairies are a gentle breed… usually anyway. What happened to Hu Die to change that? This is what Prince Shen Mi intends to find out. What secrets are hidden behind the handsome prince’s proper behavior? Why does he make this proposal to Hu Die? Will she lose her heart in the process of getting revenge?

I really adored this book. The author built an amazing magical world that I just wanted to immerse myself in. From the very beginning it draws you in and I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, Hú Dié and Shén Mì, and they really compliment each other. I felt like author wrote them perfectly. This is the first book I've read from Natalina Reis but I definitely plan on reading more.

This was definitely different from the fantasy romance books i usually read. The characters were interesting, and the story was good. Hú Dié is a Butterfly fairy that was kept locked up, but she has escaped and craves revenge. It's descriptive and a quick read. The key for the meaning of some words and names is at the back of the book.

This book was really good. If you love fairies, this book is for you and gives a little special twist to them. Hú Dié is a butterfly fairy that has been held captive for years. She manages to escape, but not for long. Shén Mì helps her in a deal type. She is not quite sure she can trust him.

Great read, I haven’t read a fantasy book like this; her turning into a butterfly as her immortal magic is really interesting and there’s more animals that people can turn into. I like that she and Shen Mi didn’t have an instant connection, their romance had a slow build to it. To be honest I thought Hu Die was childish, it took a while to warm up to her. I did enjoy the side characters in the story and wouldn’t mind seeing more of them in their own books. I liked the storyline with Shen Mi, the thought of this prince having a secret group of spies just sounds cool to me. I recommend to all readers who enjoy fantasy reads.

This book is so amazingly sweet and action packed!

I loved how the storyline unfolded and getting to know the characters and their background more. The pacing was phenomenal and the ending was perfection! I normally read more series than standalones, but I am going to add this one to my trophy wall, 10/10!

The Prince and the Butterfly is an original fantasy romance tale that is fast-paced and filled with adventure, magic, action, danger, and romance.

Hú Dié, a headstrong Butterfly fairy, has finally escaped her “gilded” cage, where she suffered greatly at the hands of a monster. Offered a chance to join an elite team of spies, she eagerly accepts, driven by dreams of revenge against those who wronged her. They say revenge is sweet, but is it?

Shén Mì, her mentor, harbors deep secrets of his own. Despite these mysteries, he finds himself falling for the beautiful fairy. His world is upended when he discovers she has been imprisoned again. He is determined to do whatever it takes to give her the freedom she desperately longs for, but can they both survive the challenges ahead?

Their journey is fraught with obstacles, all in the name of freedom.

Natalina Reis weaves a mesmerizing tale in The Prince and the Butterfly, blending fairy tale-like fantasy with deeply human themes of revenge, trust, and self-discovery. This spellbinding novel transports readers to a world where butterfly fairies like Hú Dié fight for both freedom and vengeance against their oppressors while navigating the complexities of loyalty and love.

The story begins with Hú Dié escaping her glass prison, a symbolic and literal cage that has defined her existence. From the start, Reis crafts a protagonist who is torn between two halves: the fragile, beautiful butterfly fairy craving vengeance and the human side yearning for the comforts of life she’s never known. This duality makes Hú Dié a deeply compelling character. Her struggle is not just about avenging her captor but also about reclaiming her agency in a world that often underestimates her.

Enter Shén Mì, a man whose charm is matched by his enigmatic motives. He offers Hú Dié a tantalizing deal: training, support, and a chance at revenge—if she agrees to spy on the empress for him. The relationship between the two is one of the novel’s strongest elements, with layers of mistrust, chemistry, and mutual dependence. Reis keeps readers guessing about Shén Mì’s true intentions, crafting a romance that feels fraught with danger yet tender and genuine.

The world-building is exquisite. Reis creates a vivid imperial world that feels alive with intrigue, danger, and beauty. From the glittering halls of power to the darker undercurrents of espionage and betrayal, the setting serves as a rich backdrop for Hú Dié’s journey.

Themes of freedom, identity, and trust are explored throughout the novel, adding depth to the story. Hú Dié’s quest for revenge is not just about defeating her captor but also about confronting her own fears and limitations. Meanwhile, the question of whether she can trust Shén Mì forces her—and the reader—to grapple with the complexities of human (and fairy) relationships.

Reis’s writing is lush and lyrical, perfectly suited to a story that feels part fantasy, part fairy tale. Her characters are vividly drawn, and her prose captures both the delicate beauty of Hú Dié’s world and the darker, more dangerous undertones of her mission.

The Prince and the Butterfly is a captivating read that will appeal to fans of romantic fantasy with a strong female lead. Natalina Reis delivers a story that’s as enchanting as it is heartfelt, full of twists, secrets, and a heroine determined to reclaim her wings—both literally and figuratively. A must-read for anyone who believes that even the most delicate creatures can rise to face their monsters.

This was a really enchanting and magical read. It is full of adventure, magic, action, danger and romance. The author has done an amazing job of bringing the story to life and I love the characters. Hú Dié is such an amazing character, I love how powerful and strong she is for being a small immortal. That dispite being a Butterfly fairy it doesn't stop her fighting for what she wants and for her freedom.

Hú Dié has finally escaped her prison. After years of being caged and abused she is finally free. After getting into a fight she is rescued by Shén Mì.
Shén Mì offers her a role in his team of spies which she takes. With her skills to go unnoticed in her butterfly form she is perfect for spying on the palace, or more importantly the plot to assasinate the next crowned prince.

Hú Dié does what she needs to survive and as they work close together their connection changes and turns romantic but Shén Mì has never opened his heart before. To love someone would be a weakness for him, and a distraction he doesn't need.
But love won't listen and you can't fight against it. When things start to look like he can relax and find love something happens which shakes his world. How will he respond when his butterfly gets captured again? Will he be able to save her? Can she save herself? What will be the cost of his distraction from his mission?

This story was so enjoyable to read. I couldn't put it down. It progressed really fast and I found myself just turning pages faster as I wanted to see what happened next.

There once was a butterfly, wings as blue as the night sky
The beautiful creature, very much alive,
had wings but could not fly.
She was locked inside a jar
on an evil old warlock’s sleazy bar.
The butterfly dreamed of flying the skies
and the yearning in her heart was so strong, so alive,
that one day the butterfly did indeed take flight.
Free she might be, body and soul,
but in her heart the seed of hate did grow.
Her one and only mission,
her old captor to find and to him deliver
the same fate he once had pushed on the butterfly.
One day, she hoped to find her captor
and send him straight to a dark hereafter.

The Prince and the Butterfly by Natalina Reis is an epic romantasy that really showcases the authors superb storytelling talents. As always, I can count on Ms. Reis to deliver an engrossing and enjoyable read, and this book didn’t disappoint
A captive butterfly fairy, finally free of her cage, bent on revenge against her captor. What ensues makes for a captivating story.
Apart from the incredible world-building and superb characters, there is so much more happening in the story, from action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, danger, tension, drama, agendas, intrigue, emotion, secrets, and high stakes.
The inclusion of the glossary of the translations for some of the words used in the story, was also an helpful addition.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Reis does next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Natalina Reis!

The Prince and the Butterfly is a fantasy romance full of mystery, danger, intrigue, drama, action, adventure, revenge, secrets, emotion, and fantasy creatures. The story centers around Hú Dié, a Butterfly fairy who was kept locked up for a long time but has finally managed to escape, Since her escape she craves revenge and is not scared to fight to get what she wants. Hú Dié refuses to be weak and instead prefers to be strong and be able to look after herself. Shén Mì needs to use Hú Dié’s gifts to get into places undetected. He runs a network of spies and is trying to find out who is trying to kill his brother before it is too late. At first Hú Dié thinks that Shén Mì is arrogant and materialistic but soon realizes that there is more to him. As the two spend time together, they realize that they have been brought together for a reason. Even though neither one wanted to get into relationship, fate had other plans for them. The story started off with a bang and had me hooked from the beginning. The characters were intriguing, and the author’s writing style fully immersed me into both their lives and their world.
It was hard not to get invested in their lives and their story.

Hú Dié is a butterfly shifter who was held hostage for years due to her magical abilities. Due to her past, she trusts no one and fights every chance she gets. When she meets Shén Mì, he offers her shelter and food if she agrees to work for him.

Instantly, she wants to fight him and tell him no but it has been so long since Hú Dié has had any consistency that she decides to give him a try as a boss. As anything else, no thanks.

Hú Dié has a lot of secrets and so does Shén Mi. Also being polar opposites doesn’t help matters. Hú Dié is an independent, crude woman who talks before she thinks. She has little to no filter. Meanwhile Shén Mi is prim and proper, barely showing any emotion.

I loved Hú Dié’s character instantly. She never gives up and is so sassy she made me chuckle a couple times. Shén Mi starts off really reserved but as time goes on, you learn there is a lot more to him than meets the eyes. The author did an amazing job describing this wonderful and vivid world of immortal shifters and had me hooked from page one.

This was very intriguing and captivating read. The story line was easy to follow and very well done that it gave the feeling of being that fly on the wall and watching everything going on around, this felt like this world was brought to life thou the words on the page. This book is an amazing fantasy romance, with revenge, secrets, and so much more that it kept me reading till the end. It was a very short and easy read that I was able to do in a few hours. A butterfly fairy, Hu Die finally escapes her prison by a monster that wanted to keep her to himself. She wants revenge towards her kidnapper but at what cost to her? Meeting Shen Mi who wants to help but to what cost, is it worth it, can Hu Die trust him, what secrets is he hiding. This was a super exciting read and very enjoyable, highly recommend.

This is such a great story! I absolutely love every second of it! The tale has an easy flow and endless creativity. I looked forward to picking the book back up after hating to put it down. The content is thrilling, exciting and continued to peak my inquisitiveness. The characters are built with such care! They each have a shroud of mystery that with every word I read got peeled away bit by bit. That kept me turning those pages while burning the midnight oil. They brought humor and love to my world.

Overall I was thrilled when I saw this author had a new book out. I knew nothing about it and grabbed it anyway. Her stories are so full of heartfelt characters and wondrous storylines that make me smile and really care about what happens. I always look forward to reading them and am not disappointed in subject or content.

The Prince and the Butterfly by Natalina Reis. This is such a good magical, mysterious and romantic read. Its the story of Hue Die who has finally escaped her captor and wants nothing more than to get revenge. Being caged and abused for so long made her very vengeful. When she gets into a fight and Shen Mi steps in to help her and basically saves her. He then offers her a job on his team of spies. Since she can turn into a butterfly she is the perfect spy because no one will ever find her. Working closely with Shen Mi causes romantic feelings to come between the two. The only problem is Shen Mi thinks that opening up his heart to someone is a weakness so he's torn. When the worst possible thing happens to Hue Die ( she gets captured again) will he let her go or will he try to save her? This is such a fun, magical romance story that will keep you flipping pages into the Night.

Hi lovely readers,

I wanted to tell you a little about how I ended up writing this book. There were two reasons really:
*I'm absolutely obsessed with Chinese fantasy dramas
*The cover
Let me tell you about the cover. I discovered (through a friend) about this talented cover artist in lovely Croatia (Adrijana Cernic) whom I swear is some kind of magical being. Her covers are amazing and as soon as I saw this one (pre-made) I knew I had to have it. The story immediately popped into my brain.
I had been struggling with writer's block for a while and this cover "unblocked" me. After that, I finished a book I had been struggling with and started a new one that is now almost finished.
So yes, there are fairies and they saved this tired author and helped her find her muse again.
I hope you love to read this book as much as I loved writing it. Enjoy.

This is by an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I enjoy her writing style and her creative details that make her characters pop and the story come to life. This is a well written story about revenge and secrets. Hu Die wants revenge on the monster that kept her. The man who has everything she needs but Shen Mi wants something in return. Can she trust him or is he keeping secrets? I enjoyed both of these characters and what they add to the story. They are strong and relatable. They made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this must read story.

Every single book I read by this author is brilliant and so different to the last one. From the moment I started reading this book I absolutely loved it. The characters, the story, it all just worked so well. The interaction between the characters, for me, was really interesting. I wasn’t sure if they were going to work together or trust each other. And that whole element for me meant I was never sure which way the story would turn.
The author really knew how to develop this story. It maintained the perfect pace throughout and knew just how to keep you, as the reader, hooked. I was drawn into what was happening, to the point where I read this book in one sitting. This is another brilliant story from an author I absolutely love.

The Prince and the Butterfly is a beautifully written story that captivated me from the very first page. The characters are deeply complex and their journeys are both heart-wrenching and inspiring. The Prince's struggle to balance his royal duties with his personal desires is portrayed with such authenticity, making him a relatable and compelling protagonist. The Butterfly's journey of healing from past trauma and learning to trust again is equally moving. The narrative is rich with emotional depth, and the themes of love, resilience, and personal growth are woven seamlessly throughout. This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a story that touches the heart and soul. Highly recommend.

Having read Natalina Reis books before, I was excited to read this story. The Prince and the Butterfly blends fantasy, romance, revenge and trust perfectly. The story follows Hú Dié, a butterfly fairy who has suffered captivity and now seeks vengeance. Her journey leads her to Shén Mì, a charming yet secretive man who offers her training in exchange for spying on the empress. The romance between Hú Dié and Shén Mì unfolds with tension and tenderness. Reis paints a vivid setting where fairy folk and humans coexist in a delicate balance of power and intrigue. The final act delivers a satisfying mix of action, emotion, and resolution. This is perfect for those who love stories about resilience, magic, and the delicate balance between vengeance and love.
I highly recommend reading
