The RMS Titanic is the Ship of Dreams—considered unsinkable and insurmountable in her luxury, she is the largest ocean liner in the world. Her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York begins 10 April 1912 with more than 2,000 souls on board.
Regulus and Sirius Black are English-French royalty and First Class passengers. It's a luxury most can only dream of. But for both brothers, the Titanic is a nightmare bringing them closer to futures they do not want.
James Potter and Remus Lupin aren't supposed to be on the Titanic. They get lucky winning Third Class tickets in a poker game just moments before she sets sail. For them it's a fresh start, a sure shot to new lives and freedom across the sea.
It's purely by accident that their paths cross; First and Third Class passengers don't often end up in the same spaces. Yet this time they do, and what begins is a tumultuous and harrowing love story marked by a tragedy none of them will ever forget.

Glad to report, it did in fact, destroy me. But it was written so beautifully, & it was so fast paced, I got completely swept up. Not better than Choices - Volume 2 but, perhaps equally as good.

“You’re letting them win.” James reaches out, fingers brushing along Regulus’ arm. “You burn so bright, love. Like the star you’re named after.”
“Give him time. Let him heal. You’re still healing, too.”
“I know, but I have you. Who does he have?”
They let him sleep on the couch. Remus ushers Sirius into their bedroom, telling him to walk quieter and quit sighing so much. Neither of them ever tell James to go home on these nights. They know he doesn’t really have one anymore.”

This was so good omg. A jegulus and wolfstar titanic au is a blessing for the universe. And it was a decently short fic as well.
James and Regulus were so cute. They were a little rush but that’s to be expected from a short fic. The soulmatism really popped off. Can’t pretend I wasn’t surprised to see Regulus die, it was very reminiscent of Art Heist, Baby!, particularly the epilogue.
Wolfstar was also adorable. I liked Andromeda as the Molly from the film. Walburga and Orion sucked as per usual.

“Ruin me. I’ll let you. I don’t care. You’re worth it. You’ve ruined me already. There won’t ever be anyone else for me but you.”
Imagine my eye twitching after reading back that quote. The storyline was literally in front of me and I didn’t get it.
Listen I’ve never watched titanic so I was not aware this was how it was gonna go. I had my intuition but there was no mcd tag so yeah. This means this was genuinely the most devastating two chapters of a book I’ve ever read. I didn’t need to know this.

osea si, se que la historia era literalmente sobre el titanic, pero no esperaba pasarlo tan tan mal
Iban a ser 3/5 porque encima tenia miedo de que se muriese alguno en la guerra, pero el bendito final le ha aumentado una estrellaza
juro que a partir de ahora voy a leer y releer todos los tags antes de empezar un fic porque no necesito que esto se repita

Ugh. Die car-szene? Fand alles sehr sehr gut und richtig schön und schrecklich, aber lets be for real: this dramatic nach fünf tagen? Najaaaaa. Sonst loved it.
He could be happy like this—out on the open ocean with no one around him. Alone. It would be so much easier to disappear beneath the waves. And really—who would miss him if he was gone?
It is at this precise moment—on the tenth of April at nearly two in the afternoon—that James Potter falls in love. So ridiculously and unbelievably and all-consumingly in love.
“We’ve got a week on this ship,” James says. “I guarantee you that I can get him to fall in love with me in less than that.” Remus groans and rubs a hand down his face. “We are so fucking screwed.”
Regulus watches as the other men lift their glasses and echo, “To George!” He debates the merits of using his dinner fork to stab himself in the eye.
Can’t Sirius see how exhausted he is? Can’t he see that his little brother is drowning?
He wants and wants and wants, but he will never have it, and oh, if that isn’t the greatest disappointment of all.
“What do you care if I jump? You don’t know me.” “I want to know you.” It’s risky, but James goes for it. What does he really have to lose? Regulus’ entire body tenses; his knuckles turn white on the railing. “What did you just say?” “I want to know you. But if you jump then I’ll always wonder who Regulus Arcturus Black really was.”
“So what do you care about?” “Poetry.” There’s no pause between James’ question and Regulus’ answer, as if he expected James to ask. Or at least hoped that he would. “I care about poetry. Literature. Art.” “I’m an artist,” James tells him. “I do mostly portraits with charcoal but I like oil paintings, too. Can’t write for shit, though.” Regulus laughs—it’s as bitter as his voice, but there’s a beauty in it that James can’t quite place. He wants to hear it again. “Of course you’re an artist.”
“Regulus. Don’t jump.” Regulus turns at the sound of his name. He looks at James and James is certain that no one has ever looked at him like this before. It feels like Regulus is staring straight through to his soul, forcing it open and demanding that it tell him what it holds.
Amber eyes, like warm whisky. A scar that cuts from brow to chin. Sandy brown hair. Tall and broad-shouldered. Familiar.
“He looked at you like he’s in love with you, Reggie.” “He is not,” Regulus snaps quietly, glancing at their mother. “He’s—He’s annoying. And I—” “And you looked at him like you wanted to murder him,” Sirius continues, unperturbed by his brother’s protests. “Which means you’re in love with him, too.”
They are two people destined to meet, but not to be.
They’re impossible. This meeting is impossible, surely.
They are precious things that he does not deserve. That he wants, but cannot ever have.
I know you, Sirius Black. I know you, and I have thought of you every day for two years.
I know you, Sirius Black. Don’t you remember me?
Regulus huffs a breath and says in a low, unbelievably velvety voice, “Tu es la personne la plus agaçante que j’ai pu rencontrer et pour une raison que j’ignore j’ai quand même envie de t’embrasser.” James makes a small noise in his throat and stops walking. It’s sudden, and Regulus nearly walks right into his chest. “That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard. But I have no idea what you said.” At this, Regulus rolls his eyes.
“You’re insufferable. You know that, right?” Regulus mutters. “I think you told me that already. Aren’t you supposed to be a poet? You need new words, love.” James watches Regulus’ breath hitch, his eyes widening a fraction.
He’s still admiring the clock when the third beautiful thing he sees that evening steps into his line of sight. This is when James decides that the English lexicon is not adequate enough to describe just what he feels for and thinks of Regulus Black.
We won our tickets with a lucky hand of poker.” He glances at Regulus, catching his eye as he adds, “A very lucky hand.” Regulus’ cheeks go slightly pink, and he looks quickly away.
A waiter dips beside him, offering caviar. “No, thank you. Don’t much care for that stuff. It smells weird.” Regulus coughs suddenly and grabs for his napkin again. Sirius pats him on the back, shooting James a look that seems to say, Stop making him laugh. Now.
Regulus watches—and decides that this is what it truly feels like to fall in love. It’s hurtling forward faster than the ship they’re on. It’s standing on the edge of a precipice except James is there too, smiling at him over champagne and caviar and elaborate dinner spreads, holding out his hand as he says, This time, it’s okay if you jump. We’ll do it together.
Nor would he ever admit that he is decidedly in love with James Potter. The first time he thinks it at dinner, he has to cough loudly, muffling it in his napkin. The second time he thinks it, he clears his throat and reaches for his champagne. Sometimes it’s a laugh that bubbles up out of his throat at the ludicrousness of it; those are much harder to hide but he manages, even as Sirius glances over at him with concern.
“It was his expression, Reggie,” Sirius explains, gesturing at his own face. “It looked like trouble.” Regulus groans. “Then we should not be going to find him.” Sirius shoots him a grin. “It’s exactly what we should be doing.”
Regulus shudders at the feel of James’ mouth against his skin. Drunk—he is so, so drunk on all of this.
“If we stay here long enough we might see a shooting star.” “Do you know what you’d wish for?” He can feel James still looking at him. “Something I can’t have.” James inhales sharply. “You can have it, Regulus,” he whispers. The warmth of his breath fans across Regulus’ cold cheek. “You don’t need to wish on a star. You can take it for yourself.”
“Only if you want.” “Je te veux plus que je n’ai jamais voulu quoi que ce soit dans ma vie,” Regulus says softly. James makes a strangled noise low in his throat. “I practically begged you to speak French earlier and now you want to? You’re killing me here.”
Remus’ mouth quirks again, and Sirius could die right where he stands.
“How much did we drink? I didn’t think it was this much. It’s getting worse by the second.” “Too much.” Remus cracks an eye open to look at Sirius. He’s flushed and glowing from the heat of the dining hall. Remus’ heart pangs in his chest. “Might’ve not drank enough,” he mumbles.
Sirius huffs, rolling his shoulders back. “Would you just let me walk you to your door, you stubborn ass?”
“You’re driving me mad.” Sirius’ voice is soft and low. It’s velvet, blanketing Remus, sending shivers down his spine. Sirius leans closer. “Do you know that, Remus Lupin? Absolutely mad.” Remus swallows. “I’m not sure why.”
shouts, This is an awful, terrible, very bad idea, Remus John Lupin, and you will regret it until the end of your days if you say—“Yes,” Remus breathes.
“I stared at you for ages,” Sirius starts to protest, but Remus finds his mouth again, sealing their lips together in a searing kiss.
“That was a bad idea,” he says quickly, standing straight and adjusting his own trousers. “That was—” “Something I want to do again,” Sirius finishes.
“Because it’s always me that gets left, Sirius.” He grips the doorknob, fingers curling against the cool iron. “And I’m so tired of not getting to keep the things I want most. I'd rather never have them at all.”
“Can we please talk? It’ll only take a second.” “I doubt that. You talk too much.” “Only when it’s important.”
“You’re letting them win.” James reaches out, fingers brushing along Regulus’ arm. “You burn so bright, love. Like the star you’re named after.”
“You’ve ruined me already. There won’t ever be anyone else for me but you.” “You’re mad.” “I’m in love.” Regulus laughs softly. “Is there a difference?”
“Sirius looks like he would buy you a bouquet of roses. Regulus looks like he would shove them down your throat.”
“And for you?” James asks. “What would it take?” Sirius grins. “For Remus to ask it of me.” James bangs his head against the heavy metal of the mast. “Of course I had to pick the stubborn brother.”
But here James is—still with his bleeding heart in his hands, holding it out, offered with a choice and a chance to run away, and Regulus is so fucking in love with him that he can feel it crawling up his throat, begging to burst free.
“How would it have been different, if Narcissa and Bellatrix had been with you?” Andromeda smiles. She doesn’t look up from her book when she answers, “I don’t think I would have come back at all.”
The sky turns from deep purple to fathomless black. Stars wink into existence, blanketing the night sky. And James Potter waits.
When soft little smiles meant just for Regulus were enough to make him fall in love, and James stood with his hand outstretched, saying, This time, it’s okay if you jump. We’ll do it together.
“I can’t forget him. He’s—He’s a nuisance. A handsome, wonderful, fucking sunshine of a nuisance and I want—” “Oh, my God,” Sirius groans, dropping his forehead into his hands. “You are so drunk. I can’t deal with this.” Regulus grips the back of Sirius’ neck and leans down, shaking him. “You can’t deal with this? I can’t deal with this. Why do you think I’m drinking the entire bar?”
“I’m leaving with you, Reg. Whether that means it’s with our parents, or with James. I’m leaving with you. That’s my final decision.” “So if I don’t go?” “Then I don’t.” “And if I do go?” “Then I do, too.”
He could travel, and write, and he would never be a pawn again. He could be a king.
“Where are you going?” There’s hope in Sirius’ voice, and Regulus smiles. “I’m going to find James.” Sirius startles, but quickly corrects himself, schooling his expression back into boredom. “Are you sure?” “I’ve never been more sure in my life.”
This is happiness. This is what it is to be loved, and cherished, and wanted.
Regulus supresses a smile as James stumbles in his dance steps, cursing quietly when his toe stubs against the rigging. Oh, he loves James. Inexplicably, unreasonably—he loves him.
There was simply before James Potter, and now there will only ever be after him.
Regulus steps from the shadows and out into the light.
He would know that voice anywhere. Posh London accent with a lilt of French. The best thing he’s ever heard. Devastating and beautiful and—
“Sirius is coming, too.” “I expected that.” “Him and Remus?” “A disaster. But I suppose they’d say the same about us.”
“You see, I have this—this problem, where I want to kiss you the second I wake up, and right before I fall asleep, and every moment in-between.”
Kissing Regulus feels like holding a star in his hands, the burn of it against his palms the best thing he’s ever felt.
“Do you want to keep it on?” Regulus takes his bottom lip between his teeth. “I can wear just the locket, if you’d like.” James drops the locket as though burned. “I’m trying to be professional, love. You’re making this very difficult for me.”
“What do you—Oh.” James has never been a religious man. He has little interest in the semantics of worship. But as he lowers himself to his knees in front of Regulus, who looks down at him with heavy-lidded, black eyes, every bit the benevolent god, James understands.
“I like you best like this,” Regulus whispers, soft as silk. “Like what, love?”
“On your knees for me.”
“And you are perfect. So perfect it pisses me off sometimes.” Regulus snorts. “Romantic.”
“Let me—” “Leave it.” Regulus yawns, and buries his face in James’ neck, just under his chin. “It lets me know that what we just did wasn’t a dream.”
“Remind me, what does James see in you again?” Regulus replies, deadpanned, “My shining optimism and winning personality.” “Oh, don’t make me laugh.”
“Stop that.” James reaches out and grips Remus’ wrist, stopping the trajectory of scotch to his mouth. “You’re being pathetic. And annoying.” Remus glares at him. “You are pathetic. And you are annoying.”
“You’re no fun sometimes.” “I’m fine with that. Can you leave me alone to drink in peace now? Your sunny disposition is really killing my mood.”
“Do you ever think about the way the sun and stars are never in the sky at the same time?”
“Shit,” Sirius says, stumbling backward. The collision knocks the breath from his lungs, and he wheezes, bent over, hands on his knees. “That hurt. What are you, made of stone?” “Oh. I’ve been looking for you.” Sirius blinks.
Sirius smiles up at him. There’s breath in his lungs again. Too much of it, filling him up so that it bubbles up and out in a laugh. “Hello, Remus,” he says. “I’ve been looking for you, too.”
“And you mean it? Do you truly mean you’ll go?” Sirius blinks up at him beneath long, dark lashes. “Of course I do. I wouldn’t be here if—What are you doing?” Remus has reached around him for the door handle. Instead of opening it, he turns the lock with a soft click. “Taking what I want,” he answers.
Sirius looks back at him with a wild, bright grin, and oh, Remus would follow him to the depths of hell if he asked.
“What are you?” “Yours,” Sirius answers. And oh, if that isn’t the finest thing Remus has heard all day.
Do you remember me at all, now that you know?” There’s a pause. It stretches, infinite and unbearable, between them. “I remember you, Remus Lupin,” Sirius says. “Now I just hope I can forget you.”
Sirius reaches out, ready to help him step into the lifeboat. A hand outstretched. A small, soft smile, just for him. Always just for him. No.
“I’m sorry,” Regulus calls to Sirius. “But I won’t let him die. Not like this. I'll find you. But I—I need to do this. For me.” “Regulus!” Sirius screams into the night. “Fuck, let me off!”
There’s no guarantee he’ll survive this, or that he’ll even be able to find James amidst the chaos. But he has to try. For James. For himself. For the life he so desperately wants to live. Regulus turns on his heel—and he runs.
“Since you'll never find out otherwise, I just thought you should know,” he says, bending his knees in a slight crouch, “that I let Remus Lupin fuck me in the Renault's backseat.”
“If I die, Reggie, I’m haunting you for the rest of my fucking life.”
“What is going on?” shouts a woman nearby. She gestures frantically at Sirius as he tries to haul himself over. “Why are people jumping back onboard?” “Because I’m fucking stupid,” Sirius manages to choke out. “And my brother is also an idiot.”
“But I’d rather die with you than live without you.” “That’s very poetic, love,” James jokes. “You should write it down.”
“You know, I could still leave you here. If you’re going to be annoying, I just might.” James bites his lip to keep from smiling. “But if you leave me here, who’s going to find that little spot you like? You know, the one between your—” “James Potter, I will leave you here to die,” Regulus seethes, cheeks tinged slightly pink. “Shut up.”
Sirius shrugs. “I asked him to let people through and he wouldn’t. Told him if he didn’t, I’d punch him. He still said no, so I did what I told him I’d do. Simple as that.” Remus blinks at him, dumbstruck. “You’re a fucking marvel.”
James walks ahead with Regulus’ hand in his, their fingers laced together. A quiet affection, something that makes Remus’ heart twinge. Until Sirius reaches out and intertwines their fingers, squeezing Remus’ hand with gentle reassurance.
He falls asleep slowly, blinking up at the night sky. Thankful that even though Regulus isn’t here beside him, at least he can still look up and find his star.
Mostly Regulus is thankful that for at least a little while, he could hold the sun in the palms of his hands. Feel its laughter and warmth. All of its love—every bloody ray of it, finding all of his dark corners, all the ugly bits he tucks away, only to love all of them anyway.
“These violent delights have violent ends,” Regulus replies. “And in their triumph die, like fire and powder.” James cocks his head. “What’s that from?” “Romeo and Juliet.” “Isn’t that a tragedy?” “Aren’t we?” Regulus counters softly.

“Regulus,” he breathes, fingertips still on the screen even after they take the drawing away. James makes a strangled noise at the loss of it. “Regulus? Dad’s brother?” James smiles. “One and the same. Andi, we need to make a call.”
“I’ve loved you every second of every minute of every day, just as I promised you I would. I hope it was enough.” Before he can think twice about it, James lets the locket fall from his fingers—and watches it slip beneath the ocean waves. That night, in the quiet dark of his cabin and warm in his bed, James Potter breathes his last breath.
“I only made you wait two days, James. You made me wait seventy-three years.”
“I’m so sorry, love,” James says. “I’m so sorry that it took me this long to find my way back to you.” Regulus leans into him, winding his arms around James’ neck. “It’s alright. You have an eternity to make it up to me.”
He could be happy like this—out on the open ocean with no one around him. Alone. It would be so much easier to disappear beneath the waves. And really—who would miss him if he was gone?
It is at this precise moment—on the tenth of April at nearly two in the afternoon—that James Potter falls in love. So ridiculously and unbelievably and all-consumingly in love.
“We’ve got a week on this ship,” James says. “I guarantee you that I can get him to fall in love with me in less than that.” Remus groans and rubs a hand down his face. “We are so fucking screwed.”
Regulus watches as the other men lift their glasses and echo, “To George!” He debates the merits of using his dinner fork to stab himself in the eye.
Can’t Sirius see how exhausted he is? Can’t he see that his little brother is drowning?
He wants and wants and wants, but he will never have it, and oh, if that isn’t the greatest disappointment of all.
“What do you care if I jump? You don’t know me.” “I want to know you.” It’s risky, but James goes for it. What does he really have to lose? Regulus’ entire body tenses; his knuckles turn white on the railing. “What did you just say?” “I want to know you. But if you jump then I’ll always wonder who Regulus Arcturus Black really was.”
“So what do you care about?” “Poetry.” There’s no pause between James’ question and Regulus’ answer, as if he expected James to ask. Or at least hoped that he would. “I care about poetry. Literature. Art.” “I’m an artist,” James tells him. “I do mostly portraits with charcoal but I like oil paintings, too. Can’t write for shit, though.” Regulus laughs—it’s as bitter as his voice, but there’s a beauty in it that James can’t quite place. He wants to hear it again. “Of course you’re an artist.”
“Regulus. Don’t jump.” Regulus turns at the sound of his name. He looks at James and James is certain that no one has ever looked at him like this before. It feels like Regulus is staring straight through to his soul, forcing it open and demanding that it tell him what it holds.
Amber eyes, like warm whisky. A scar that cuts from brow to chin. Sandy brown hair. Tall and broad-shouldered. Familiar.
“He looked at you like he’s in love with you, Reggie.” “He is not,” Regulus snaps quietly, glancing at their mother. “He’s—He’s annoying. And I—” “And you looked at him like you wanted to murder him,” Sirius continues, unperturbed by his brother’s protests. “Which means you’re in love with him, too.”
They are two people destined to meet, but not to be.
They’re impossible. This meeting is impossible, surely.
They are precious things that he does not deserve. That he wants, but cannot ever have.
I know you, Sirius Black. I know you, and I have thought of you every day for two years.
I know you, Sirius Black. Don’t you remember me?
Regulus huffs a breath and says in a low, unbelievably velvety voice, “Tu es la personne la plus agaçante que j’ai pu rencontrer et pour une raison que j’ignore j’ai quand même envie de t’embrasser.” James makes a small noise in his throat and stops walking. It’s sudden, and Regulus nearly walks right into his chest. “That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard. But I have no idea what you said.” At this, Regulus rolls his eyes.
“You’re insufferable. You know that, right?” Regulus mutters. “I think you told me that already. Aren’t you supposed to be a poet? You need new words, love.” James watches Regulus’ breath hitch, his eyes widening a fraction.
He’s still admiring the clock when the third beautiful thing he sees that evening steps into his line of sight. This is when James decides that the English lexicon is not adequate enough to describe just what he feels for and thinks of Regulus Black.
We won our tickets with a lucky hand of poker.” He glances at Regulus, catching his eye as he adds, “A very lucky hand.” Regulus’ cheeks go slightly pink, and he looks quickly away.
A waiter dips beside him, offering caviar. “No, thank you. Don’t much care for that stuff. It smells weird.” Regulus coughs suddenly and grabs for his napkin again. Sirius pats him on the back, shooting James a look that seems to say, Stop making him laugh. Now.
Regulus watches—and decides that this is what it truly feels like to fall in love. It’s hurtling forward faster than the ship they’re on. It’s standing on the edge of a precipice except James is there too, smiling at him over champagne and caviar and elaborate dinner spreads, holding out his hand as he says, This time, it’s okay if you jump. We’ll do it together.
Nor would he ever admit that he is decidedly in love with James Potter. The first time he thinks it at dinner, he has to cough loudly, muffling it in his napkin. The second time he thinks it, he clears his throat and reaches for his champagne. Sometimes it’s a laugh that bubbles up out of his throat at the ludicrousness of it; those are much harder to hide but he manages, even as Sirius glances over at him with concern.
“It was his expression, Reggie,” Sirius explains, gesturing at his own face. “It looked like trouble.” Regulus groans. “Then we should not be going to find him.” Sirius shoots him a grin. “It’s exactly what we should be doing.”
Regulus shudders at the feel of James’ mouth against his skin. Drunk—he is so, so drunk on all of this.
“If we stay here long enough we might see a shooting star.” “Do you know what you’d wish for?” He can feel James still looking at him. “Something I can’t have.” James inhales sharply. “You can have it, Regulus,” he whispers. The warmth of his breath fans across Regulus’ cold cheek. “You don’t need to wish on a star. You can take it for yourself.”
“Only if you want.” “Je te veux plus que je n’ai jamais voulu quoi que ce soit dans ma vie,” Regulus says softly. James makes a strangled noise low in his throat. “I practically begged you to speak French earlier and now you want to? You’re killing me here.”
Remus’ mouth quirks again, and Sirius could die right where he stands.
“How much did we drink? I didn’t think it was this much. It’s getting worse by the second.” “Too much.” Remus cracks an eye open to look at Sirius. He’s flushed and glowing from the heat of the dining hall. Remus’ heart pangs in his chest. “Might’ve not drank enough,” he mumbles.
Sirius huffs, rolling his shoulders back. “Would you just let me walk you to your door, you stubborn ass?”
“You’re driving me mad.” Sirius’ voice is soft and low. It’s velvet, blanketing Remus, sending shivers down his spine. Sirius leans closer. “Do you know that, Remus Lupin? Absolutely mad.” Remus swallows. “I’m not sure why.”
shouts, This is an awful, terrible, very bad idea, Remus John Lupin, and you will regret it until the end of your days if you say—“Yes,” Remus breathes.
“I stared at you for ages,” Sirius starts to protest, but Remus finds his mouth again, sealing their lips together in a searing kiss.
“That was a bad idea,” he says quickly, standing straight and adjusting his own trousers. “That was—” “Something I want to do again,” Sirius finishes.
“Because it’s always me that gets left, Sirius.” He grips the doorknob, fingers curling against the cool iron. “And I’m so tired of not getting to keep the things I want most. I'd rather never have them at all.”
“Can we please talk? It’ll only take a second.” “I doubt that. You talk too much.” “Only when it’s important.”
“You’re letting them win.” James reaches out, fingers brushing along Regulus’ arm. “You burn so bright, love. Like the star you’re named after.”
“You’ve ruined me already. There won’t ever be anyone else for me but you.” “You’re mad.” “I’m in love.” Regulus laughs softly. “Is there a difference?”
“Sirius looks like he would buy you a bouquet of roses. Regulus looks like he would shove them down your throat.”
“And for you?” James asks. “What would it take?” Sirius grins. “For Remus to ask it of me.” James bangs his head against the heavy metal of the mast. “Of course I had to pick the stubborn brother.”
But here James is—still with his bleeding heart in his hands, holding it out, offered with a choice and a chance to run away, and Regulus is so fucking in love with him that he can feel it crawling up his throat, begging to burst free.
“How would it have been different, if Narcissa and Bellatrix had been with you?” Andromeda smiles. She doesn’t look up from her book when she answers, “I don’t think I would have come back at all.”
The sky turns from deep purple to fathomless black. Stars wink into existence, blanketing the night sky. And James Potter waits.
When soft little smiles meant just for Regulus were enough to make him fall in love, and James stood with his hand outstretched, saying, This time, it’s okay if you jump. We’ll do it together.
“I can’t forget him. He’s—He’s a nuisance. A handsome, wonderful, fucking sunshine of a nuisance and I want—” “Oh, my God,” Sirius groans, dropping his forehead into his hands. “You are so drunk. I can’t deal with this.” Regulus grips the back of Sirius’ neck and leans down, shaking him. “You can’t deal with this? I can’t deal with this. Why do you think I’m drinking the entire bar?”
“I’m leaving with you, Reg. Whether that means it’s with our parents, or with James. I’m leaving with you. That’s my final decision.” “So if I don’t go?” “Then I don’t.” “And if I do go?” “Then I do, too.”
He could travel, and write, and he would never be a pawn again. He could be a king.
“Where are you going?” There’s hope in Sirius’ voice, and Regulus smiles. “I’m going to find James.” Sirius startles, but quickly corrects himself, schooling his expression back into boredom. “Are you sure?” “I’ve never been more sure in my life.”
This is happiness. This is what it is to be loved, and cherished, and wanted.
Regulus supresses a smile as James stumbles in his dance steps, cursing quietly when his toe stubs against the rigging. Oh, he loves James. Inexplicably, unreasonably—he loves him.
There was simply before James Potter, and now there will only ever be after him.
Regulus steps from the shadows and out into the light.
He would know that voice anywhere. Posh London accent with a lilt of French. The best thing he’s ever heard. Devastating and beautiful and—
“Sirius is coming, too.” “I expected that.” “Him and Remus?” “A disaster. But I suppose they’d say the same about us.”
“You see, I have this—this problem, where I want to kiss you the second I wake up, and right before I fall asleep, and every moment in-between.”
Kissing Regulus feels like holding a star in his hands, the burn of it against his palms the best thing he’s ever felt.
“Do you want to keep it on?” Regulus takes his bottom lip between his teeth. “I can wear just the locket, if you’d like.” James drops the locket as though burned. “I’m trying to be professional, love. You’re making this very difficult for me.”
“What do you—Oh.” James has never been a religious man. He has little interest in the semantics of worship. But as he lowers himself to his knees in front of Regulus, who looks down at him with heavy-lidded, black eyes, every bit the benevolent god, James understands.
“I like you best like this,” Regulus whispers, soft as silk. “Like what, love?”
“On your knees for me.”
“And you are perfect. So perfect it pisses me off sometimes.” Regulus snorts. “Romantic.”
“Let me—” “Leave it.” Regulus yawns, and buries his face in James’ neck, just under his chin. “It lets me know that what we just did wasn’t a dream.”
“Remind me, what does James see in you again?” Regulus replies, deadpanned, “My shining optimism and winning personality.” “Oh, don’t make me laugh.”
“Stop that.” James reaches out and grips Remus’ wrist, stopping the trajectory of scotch to his mouth. “You’re being pathetic. And annoying.” Remus glares at him. “You are pathetic. And you are annoying.”
“You’re no fun sometimes.” “I’m fine with that. Can you leave me alone to drink in peace now? Your sunny disposition is really killing my mood.”
“Do you ever think about the way the sun and stars are never in the sky at the same time?”
“Shit,” Sirius says, stumbling backward. The collision knocks the breath from his lungs, and he wheezes, bent over, hands on his knees. “That hurt. What are you, made of stone?” “Oh. I’ve been looking for you.” Sirius blinks.
Sirius smiles up at him. There’s breath in his lungs again. Too much of it, filling him up so that it bubbles up and out in a laugh. “Hello, Remus,” he says. “I’ve been looking for you, too.”
“And you mean it? Do you truly mean you’ll go?” Sirius blinks up at him beneath long, dark lashes. “Of course I do. I wouldn’t be here if—What are you doing?” Remus has reached around him for the door handle. Instead of opening it, he turns the lock with a soft click. “Taking what I want,” he answers.
Sirius looks back at him with a wild, bright grin, and oh, Remus would follow him to the depths of hell if he asked.
“What are you?” “Yours,” Sirius answers. And oh, if that isn’t the finest thing Remus has heard all day.
Do you remember me at all, now that you know?” There’s a pause. It stretches, infinite and unbearable, between them. “I remember you, Remus Lupin,” Sirius says. “Now I just hope I can forget you.”
Sirius reaches out, ready to help him step into the lifeboat. A hand outstretched. A small, soft smile, just for him. Always just for him. No.
“I’m sorry,” Regulus calls to Sirius. “But I won’t let him die. Not like this. I'll find you. But I—I need to do this. For me.” “Regulus!” Sirius screams into the night. “Fuck, let me off!”
There’s no guarantee he’ll survive this, or that he’ll even be able to find James amidst the chaos. But he has to try. For James. For himself. For the life he so desperately wants to live. Regulus turns on his heel—and he runs.
“Since you'll never find out otherwise, I just thought you should know,” he says, bending his knees in a slight crouch, “that I let Remus Lupin fuck me in the Renault's backseat.”
“If I die, Reggie, I’m haunting you for the rest of my fucking life.”
“What is going on?” shouts a woman nearby. She gestures frantically at Sirius as he tries to haul himself over. “Why are people jumping back onboard?” “Because I’m fucking stupid,” Sirius manages to choke out. “And my brother is also an idiot.”
“But I’d rather die with you than live without you.” “That’s very poetic, love,” James jokes. “You should write it down.”
“You know, I could still leave you here. If you’re going to be annoying, I just might.” James bites his lip to keep from smiling. “But if you leave me here, who’s going to find that little spot you like? You know, the one between your—” “James Potter, I will leave you here to die,” Regulus seethes, cheeks tinged slightly pink. “Shut up.”
Sirius shrugs. “I asked him to let people through and he wouldn’t. Told him if he didn’t, I’d punch him. He still said no, so I did what I told him I’d do. Simple as that.” Remus blinks at him, dumbstruck. “You’re a fucking marvel.”
James walks ahead with Regulus’ hand in his, their fingers laced together. A quiet affection, something that makes Remus’ heart twinge. Until Sirius reaches out and intertwines their fingers, squeezing Remus’ hand with gentle reassurance.
He falls asleep slowly, blinking up at the night sky. Thankful that even though Regulus isn’t here beside him, at least he can still look up and find his star.

Titanic Au meets Marauders (Jegulus). Heavy angst, Major character death, love at first sight.
I carry your heart with me and I am never without it Wherever you are, I am, my love; And you are whatever a star has always meant And whatever a sun will always be is you.
I knew picking this up will put be through three hours of hell. And it did. Do I regret it? No. Did I cry? Yes. Was it beautifully written? FUCK Yes!
The way James is so open for his love for Regulus and how expressive it is was so loving:
He realizes in that moment that he would do anything Regulus asks of him--he doesn't care what it is. He would steal. Beg.
Bend himself in half until he snaps. Regulus could ask him for the moon and James would find a way to pull it down to Earth Just to keep this, to keep him.
But how bittersweet and beautiful as the story goes.
I don’t think I’ve felt this much while watching the og movie.

when i saw this was marauders x titanic, i was instantly like sign me up!! i love the movie titanic (young leonardo dicaprio 🤤) and marauders fanfics. unfortunately, this was not for me. i think i just like long fanfics because there’s more story and time to develop characters and romance more. this was just too short i think and wayyy too insta lovey (which is like my least fav trope i love slow burn). now i know not to read really short fanfics bc this was my least fav marauders fic that i read so far.

I’ve never in my life cried so hard.
This is absolutely devastating. I know the story of the Titanic, ok? And I’ve seen the MCD tag (dreaded it half of the time, tbh) But NOTHING prepared me for this. Someone just took my heart out and ripped it apart.
My thoughts on this fic are as follows:
Quite fast paced but I really don’t care because they’ve lived several lifetimes in my head as lovers. So nothing fast about that.
I wanted more. Nah, needed more. I want this to be a 600,000 words fic. With all the hp characters.
The writing is beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️ loved aaaaaall the hp references and the stars and the moon and the sun are my favourite 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
Sirius…ok, so this Sirius was not the Sirius I love and adore. He got some real trust issues (I’m not saying those issues might have not been with a good reason) but behaving like this with his Moony is just something that would never happen. Ever.
But he’s the best big brother 😭😍 so I forgive him
I am so happy Peter is not here to betray them. Peter is the iceberg.
James Potter. Sweet sweet baby 😭😭😭please I can’t talk about him. He’s so special and precious. All he went through…he’s braver than me because as soon as I would have enrolled in the army for the war I would have been one crazy bitch, looking for so many ways to go join Reggie.
But he’s a Gryffindor through and through 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I love him

I don't think I could begin to describe the absolute pain that I felt while reading this, out of all the fanfictions i've read this is the 3rd best, 2nd being Art heist, baby! and 1st being Crimson rivers. The fact that this doesn't have more hits makes me depressed because it's actually such a amazing story, and I cried for about and hour and then, half an hour later, I cried again.

I don't think I could begin to describe the absolute pain that I felt while reading this, out of all the fanfictions i've read this is the 3rd best, 2nd being Art heist, baby! and 1st being Crimson rivers. The fact that this doesn't have more hits makes me depressed because it's actually such a amazing story, and I cried for about and hour and then, half an hour later, I cried again.

It's often said that the sun and moon ar always chasing one another, but I think the sun is always chasing the stars. Think about it - the sun spends the whole day traveling the sky, and then it leaves and the stars appear in all of the places the sun always looked. The sun will never stop chasing them, and the stars will never be there when the sun is awake

So beautifully written, I just can’t, it’s 10⭐️ out of 5
The amount of tears though, was sobbing for god knows how long. The characters, the plot, the writing💚 Perfection.

i just finished this silently crying for two hours whilst my friends kept checking in on me ohhhh the pain. beautiful story i am in agony. loved the differences from the film that fit with our four fav boys perfectly. i am aching❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
