What's in a nightmare? What are nightmares made of? But most of all, can they hurt you?
Have you ever felt that tingly sensation at the back of your neck and fought the need to turn around to see who - or what - is behind you? In these pages you will find those creatures, and you just might feel that same feeling creep up your neck, begging you to turn around.
Don't turn around.
Nightmares ...And the Things They are Made of contains several short horror stories inspired by my nightmares; the things that keep me up at night and follow me throughout my day. Ghosts, creatures, your own mind... Is anything safe?
This was an insightful collection of heavy material. Kayleigh Marie zooms the microscope far in to explore every corner of a character’s experience and emotions in the face of horrors both supernatural and brutally real. If “Preview of The Lantern” truly is a sneak peek into Kayleigh Marie’s next work, I couldn’t be more excited!
Nightmares: ...And the Things They Are Made of is a lovely little collection of anxiety inducing short horror stories. Being trapped in a bad dream you can't escape something I think everyone can relate to. The author drops us off in different time periods and different walks of life, very quickly and effectively painting us a picture of the characters we briefly follow as we see their nightmares going from story to story. This book made me realize how much I enjoy short stories. I think I'd like to start reading more collections like this.
It's a quick read and very enjoyable, even if horror isn't your normal book genre (this is the first horror book I've ever read, but I enjoy horror movies and games). Definitely check it out!
